Chapter 2

Ichigo woke up stiff and slightly damp. Ugh...spelunking is very bad...never do it... He thought groggily as her got up and stretched. He peeked outside, noting the sun was up high in the sky and no one was around. Better get moving... He ran out of the cave and made it to the edge of the woods. A decent sized city lie below the small mountainside. Wait...I recognize this place...

Karakura...Town...Urahara...Store...The voice echoed in his mind once more, making him wince.

"Ngh...Damnit am I insane?" He wondered aloud. He began the long trek down the mountain when he heard shouts.

"He's there!"

"Catch him!"

Shit...He began running faster, trying to find a way to hide. He saw a tree and instinctively jumped, grabbed it and spun, landing on the thick branch safely. H...how did I... The jump normally wouldn't have been possible.

...Near...below... He looked down and gripped the gun. He slid silently behind them, landing softly and walked up. He grabbed one man's neck, twisting it and he heard the audible crack of the bones. The others fired guns, but he swerved and dodged, firing his gun and hitting one man in the throat, another square in the head. He then aims his gun at the third man, who fires and cuts his arm. He stares in shock as it heals up and he glares.

"You really shouldn't do that." His voice sounded cold and emotionless as he closed in on the man. He scooted away but Ichigo brought his foot down with crushing force, snapping the man's leg. The man screamed in pain and Ichigo lifted him off the ground. "Who am I?" He asked angrily. "Tell me what you know!"

"I...I don't know anything!" The guy trembled.

"Wrong answer." Ichigo then shot him. For a moment he felt frozen. D...did I just...kill them? He dropped the gun in surprise. "I...I cant believe..." He shook his head. "No. Don't worry about it. You need answers." He walked away from the scene of carnage, suddenly aware of the camera watching him. He then froze and fired in the bushes, hitting the camera.

The screen went black as two man sighed. "Well hiding that mess wont be too easy." One said, a smile plain on his face.

"Yes, but his performance is amazing. Szayel should be proud. Shame we couldn't fully remove his link with that thing." The other said calmly. He brushed hanging brown bangs from his eyes and smirked. "But it will sever...we just need his name...his real one."

"Aye, but the kid has it...and he don't remember."

"Oh he will in time...and he'll come and give it to us. For now we observe and test him. He'll return, have faith in that."

It was night by the time he made it into the town. Urahara Store...that's what the voice said... He sighed. "I'm insane...I must be." He walked the near empty streets. He stopped when he found a small store in an empty lot. "This it?" He walked and knocked on the door. "Hello? !" A door opened revealing a small girl with black pigtails. "Hello...is the store closed?" He asked. The girl just stared before running off. He stood, in shock until a man came with blonde hair hanging in his face, yawning. But when grey eyes looked at him they widened.

"I...Ichigo?" Ichigo looked at him.

"Finally...someone who knows me and isn't trying to shoot me...look...I need help." He said. The man stared at him.

"You don't remember...shit." The man sighed. "Well, that sucks! Come inside." Ichigo felt oddly taken aback by the ma's sudden change in mood, but he followed. "Here, sit." Ichigo removed his shoes and sat down as he was handed a cup of tea. "So what do you remember exactly?"

"My name and that's it. But apparently I'm some kinda superhuman freak." Ichigo shrugged. He explained what had happened as Urahara listened in.

"I see...so he succeeded. But I feel someone else can explain better." He said. "But for that...you need to sleep." Ichigo stared at him and he grinned. "You're safe here I promise." Ichigo nodded a bit hesitantly. "I'm Kisuke Urahara, and you and I know each other through...someone very important to you." He said quietly. "Go ahead and get some rest." Ichigo nodded and followed the little girl, Ururu as Kisuke called her, to an empty room.

"Thank you." He bowed lightly. He removed his shirt and pants, curled under the blankets and slipped into sleep.

Ichigo opened his eyes to find himself in a dark place. "Where...where am I?"

"We are in your mind. You're asleep right now..." Ichigo froze.

That...that voice... He whipped around and sucked in a breath. A pale man stood before him, long white hair hanging down to past his hips. Gold on black eyes looked at him through white bangs. His clothes were bleached versions of Ichigo's. "Who are you?"

"As much as I wish I could tell you, I can't. Even if I did, the name wouldn't reach your ears...not until you remember us...and yourself." He said, pain and sadness clearly in his eyes and voice. "Oh Ichigo...forgive me for what they've done to you..."

"I can hear your voice in my head...is that normal?" He asked, unsure of how to feel. Deep inside him, seeing this man's face in pain hurt his heart, like a vice was squeezing it.

"Not usually...but our umm...bond wasn't severed fully when they tore us apart. So I have been trying to aid you." He explained. "It may put you in more danger, but I urge you to find me." He said. "I can't stay here...they will destroy us both." Before Ichigo could ask more, the darkness began to crack, revealing an ugly red light. "shit they've come! Ichigo! Search for Renji Abarai! He's your friend from high school ok?"

"W-wait!" Before he could ask for more, the world exploded in a blood red light.

"Renji Abarai? Hmm..." Kisuke hummed. "He works for the police now. you guys didn't exactly part on a good note." He sighed. "But I can find him."

"Please do. It's all the lead I have. The pale guy didn't even tell me his name..."

"His ah...human name is Shirosaki Ogichi. He has another name...but only you know it."

"I don't think I'd forget something like that." Ichigo huffed. "and what do you mean by 'human'?"

"Oh he's a daemon...or Vasto Lordes." Kisuke said. "A very powerful daemon...lord of them all to be precise."
