Chapter 11
A Much Needed Vacation
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" Spencer asked for about the third time since they've arrived at the airport.
Toby chuckled before nodding his head."Yes, we should. You need a break and so do I."
"But what if something happens while we're away or somebody needs us-"
He gently took her hand in his brought his lips down to kiss it."Babe, relax. Nothing is gonna happen and all you need to worry about is strolling across the Bahamas beach with your handsome husband."
She pictured the thought in her head. Her and him walking on the beach, watching the sun go down. His arms wrapped tightly around her with her head resting on his chest. It's a thought that made her feel all warm inside. He was right, she needed to stop worrying and relax.
"Okay, from here on out I promise not to worry about anything for the duration of the vacation." She promised and sealed it with a kiss.
"Good, because everything is taken care of. Emily and Paige are gonna stay at the house. And Aria and Ezra have Tiger and Snow. It's all worked out." He finished before returning to his book he was reading.
Spencer was thankful that Emily and Paige agreed to watch their home. But she knew that it would be best for Emily to have a little space from her parents and spend time with Paige. Tiger and Snow was what worried her the most. She had been with them everyday since she'd meet them and leaving them were like leaving there children. It's okay because they were in good hands, Aria and Ezra would take good care of them.
"Hey," He gently patted her shoulder to get her attention."They called our flight. It's time to board."
He held his hand out to her to help her up. Once she was up, he grabbed both of their carry on bags while she got the ticket out of her purse. After a few minutes they made there way through the line and were seated. Expect, they were seated in first class and that was strange. Of course, Toby had the money to afford it, but he's expressed multiple times that he didn't like flying first class because it was like showing off.
"Did they get our seats wrong?" She questioned as they sat down, but he just smiled and shook his head.
"No, these are the right seats." He said, but she still looked confused. So, he decided to explain."This trip is about you. And I want to make it as memorable from beginning to end."
He was so sweet and thoughtful always thinking of her. But she didn't need a first class seat to have a memorable time with him. Anytime with him was always memorable for her.
She leaned over to kiss his cheek and pulled back to whisper in his ear."This vacation is about us and I don't need to have a fancy seat on a plane to remember it. All I need is you."
"Then you're going to hate me when you see where we're staying." He teased.
"What-" Before she could get more information out of him, her phone rang in her purse. She pulled it out quickly and saw that it was Hanna calling."Hanna?"
"Thank God! I was beginning to think you were dead. Where are you?"
"Han, I'm at the airport because Toby and I are going on a vacation." Spencer explained.
"And when do you plan on coming back?"
Spencer looked over to Toby for an answer, but he just smiled and shrugged."I don't know. I guess we're just gonna play it by ear."
"Spence, you can't just go on an impromptu vacation! You need to be here because Em's sick, Amelia just got here, and we need to discuss wedding venues-"
During Hanna's rambling, Toby had enough. He grabbed the phone from Spencer. And when she looked at him in surprise, he gave her a smile to reassure her.
He cleared his throat to at least get Hanna's attention."Hanna, this is Toby. Now, I need you to listen to me for minute." He waited for her to quiet down before he continued."Look, Spencer's worked her ass off over the last few months, over the last few years. She's always there for you, the girls, her family, me, and plus she has school. She has little time for herself to relax and she deserves this trip. She deserves it more than anything. So there will be no more calling or texting until we get home. Thanks for listening."
He hung up the phone and handed it back to Spencer. She couldn't believe how bold he had been to Hanna. Toby was always a quiet nice guy, but this time he put his foot down and he meant. She knew that she would have to sneak away later and call the girls later.
"Time to buckle up." He snapped his seatbelt and waited for Spencer to snap hers in before lacing their fingers together.
They were on their way.
She wanted to be mad at him. She wanted to, but he had warned her about the place he picked to stay. They weren't going to be staying at a hotel because Toby had rented a villa along a private beach. It looked absolutely beautiful and Spencer actually felt like she was in paradise.
"Toby, how much did all of this cost?" She questioned as Toby got their luggage from the taxi's trunk.
He smiled before he said."Don't worry about it. Just enjoy it."
He got the last of the bags out of trunk before closing it. He went up to the drivers window to pay before grabbing the bags and placing then inside of their villa.
"Are you gonna come inside? Or are you gonna daydream all day?" He teased when he saw Spencer's eyes got lost in the beach, but he didn't miss the faint smile playing on her lips.
She playfully rolled her eyes at him before walking over to him. As she was about to walk through the door, he scooped her up in his arms bridal style.
"Think of this as the honeymoon we never got." He said and nodded towards the bedroom."We have a lot to make up for."
"Well, lets not waste anymore time." She whispered into his ear before she kiss him with so much passion that it made him weak in the knees, but that didn't stop him from carrying her into the bedroom and cherishing her body everyday he knew how.
Three days. It's been three days of living in a dream. For Spencer and Toby, these last few days has been greater than they could have imagined. It's been nonstop walks on the beach, laying together in a hammock under the stars, and endless love making. It seemed like everything was going great, but good things don't always last.
Spencer woke up tangled in sheets as the morning sun slipped through the curtains. She stretched and her muscles ached, but in a good way. She felt around for her husband, but didn't feel his body laying next to hers. She sat up, making sure the sheets covered her enough, and was about to get about of bed when he can strolling into the bedroom.
"Missed me already?" He teased as he walked over to give her a soft kiss before kneeling down bedside her.
She ran her fingers through his hair as she said."Yep, I was about to come searching for you."
"Now, you wrapped up in nothing, but a sheet is something I would have loved to see." He grabbed her hand that was messing with his arm and kissed every knuckle.
"Where were you anyways?"
"I was on the phone handling some business with Nicole."
She groaned."I thought we said this vacation was meant to be a vacation. That meant no work, school, or any other obligations."
"I know and I'm sorry, but it's good news." He said and Spencer encouraged him to continue and share the good news."Someone wants to buy my company."
"Wait, so how is that good news."
"Because they're a larger company who wants to buy mine for triple of what it's worth today. That's not even the best part...they offered me a job," He stood up with a huge smile on his face as he continued."Baby, that means a job with benefits, better insurance, and huge increase in my paycheck."
"Toby, what about the people who work you? What about the fact Mr. Sweeney handed that company down to you? Why is money suddenly important to you?"
He sighed heavily before kneeling back beside her."I want to make sure I can always provide for my wife and future kids."
"Where is this new job anyways? Philly?"
He shook his head."It's in Nevada."
"You want us to move all the way to Nevada!? What about our friends? Our families?"
He grabbed her hands in his to try and calm her down." It's just an idea for right now. Nothing's set in stone."
"Okay, I'll think about it."
"Good," he smiled at her before pecking her lips and standing up."now you need to get out of bed. I made breakfasts and booked you a day at the spa."
She watched him walk out of the room without saying anything else. She loved him and she wanted him to be happy. This job offer seemed to make him very happy. And wife was supposed to stand by her husband even if she thought he was making a horrible decision. Right?
