Chapter 12
It's Not A Wedding Without A Little Drama (Part 1 of 3)
3 months later...
"I'm still not sure about this." Spencer said seriously as she paced the hotel lobby."Maybe we should just skip this and focus on the wedding."
Hanna's head snapped in her direction and her eyes were wide."We can't skip something like this. Spence, it's your bachelorette party, you're last time to let loose before being tied down. Live a little!"
Spencer held up her hand to show the ring on her finger."As you can see I'm already tied down and if your definition of living is walking around Las Vegas being drunk, then count me out."
Hanna groaned dramatically and was about to continue arguing with her, but Aria stepped in."Spence, what Hanna is trying to say is that this is your last chance to go out and let loose before you have to get back to the real world. You're getting married in four days and then you back to your ordinary life. But for tonight and tomorrow you get to have some fun."
Having a bachelorette party wasn't apart of Spencer's wedding plans. But then she found out that the guys had planned to sneak Toby off to Vegas for a bachelor party. Well, she didn't find out, but Hanna did and then she insisted that they go with them. Toby seemed really excited about going, so Spencer just went along with it.
The plan was for them to fly to Vegas four days before the wedding and on the third day fly to Florida for their wedding. The only rule was that Spencer and Toby couldn't stay in the same room and couldn't see each other during the bachelor and bachelorette parties. Spencer hoped that she could just hide away with a good book, but Hanna's been planning the next few days weeks before they got there. So it looked like she was stuck.
Spencer groaned as she looked at the hopeful looks on her friends faces."Fine, we can go out tonight."
"Spencer, I promise you that you're not going to regret this." Hanna encouraged as she looped her arms with her friends and started walking with them to their rooms."It's gonna be great!"
"Then why do I feel like this is a bad idea." Spencer muttered under her breath while she let her friends lead her away.
"That's a bad idea." Toby said once he he got finished listening to his friends plans for him tonight."What on earth makes you think Spencer would let me go to a strip club?"
"She doesn't have to know and anything goes this weekend." Holden said, but Toby shook his head.
"Yes, she will because she figures out everything."
Caleb groaned and threw his head back on the couch."Toby, I know how you're a good guy with morals, but get a grip man. These are your last few nights of freedom to do what you want. It's like using a get out of jail free card."
"Ezra, back me up on this. This isn't a good idea because you know Aria would murder you." Toby challenged.
Ezra thought about it for a moment before shrugging his shoulders."It's a bachelor party and Spencer or Aria doesn't have to know. So I say lets go for it."
"Thanks, Ezra, that helped me a lot." Toby said sarcastically, but Ezra just grinned at him.
"Alright, it's three votes to one," Caleb said as he stood up with a victorious smile."Looks like we are going. So let's go get ready."
"You guys go ahead. I'm gonna go check out the casino for a little bit." Toby explained as he headed for the door.
"Don't run away or go looking for Spencer!" Holden called out to him as he was leaving the hotel room. Expect, that's exactly where Toby was going. To find his wife.
Spencer didn't want to be here. She didn't drink often and dancing wasn't her thing. Still, Hanna insisted on going out tonight and having some fun. It looked like her friends were having fun from where she could see them from the bar. Hanna was off dancing on the dance floor and you could tell by the smile on her face that she was having a good time. Aria was over by the DJ booth making some song suggestions to the DJ. Emily and Paige couldn't make it to Vegas because Emily wasn't feeling well, but they said they'd be there for the wedding.
And Spencer sat at the bar with a vodka soda in her hand bored out of her mind. She wanted so badly to call or text Toby, but Hanna took her phone away and locked it in her purse. She had a lot of things on her mind, mainly Toby's job offer and how he was seriously considering it. She still hasn't told her friends about it, but she didn't want to until things were set in stone. She was contemplating about leaving and just heading back to the hotel. But then a guy slide into the seat next to her.
"Can I buy you another drink?" Expect, he wasn't just some guy. She knew his voice and when she looked to her left it was exactly who she thought it was. Jason DiLaurentis.
"Jason, what are you doing here?" She asked as she gave him a friendly hug.
"Well, we come here every year in November because my dad has these big events here." He explained and then ordered himself a drink afterwards.
"Everyone? Everyone as in-"
"Yes, the whole family. That includes Alison too."
Spencer thought that it was just great. Not only did she think this trip was a bad idea, but she has to worry about Toby running into Alison. This just heightened her worries and now she really wanted to leave and find him.
"Why are you here, Spencer?" He asked, breaking Spencer out of her thoughts.
"It my bachelorette party. I'm getting married to Toby in four days."
"That's great." He said sincerely, but Spencer didn't fail to notice the look of sadness on his face after he said it."If it's supposed to be a party, then why are you sitting here all by yourself?"
She shrugged as she played with her straw in her glass"Because I didn't really want to go out and I'm ready to leave."
"I can take you back to your hotel." He offered, but Spencer shook her head.
"No, it's okay. I can just wait till Hanna and Aria are ready."
He sighed heavily before throwing his drink back and turning to her."Look, I need to talk you, Spencer. It's about something really important. So can we please go somewhere that's a little more quiet."
She was hesitant at first because she didn't know Jason really well. He had always just been Ali's older brother to her. But the desperate and pleading look in his eyes were making her resistance fade away. Jason wasn't a bad guy and she knew he wasn't going to hurt her so what was the harm?
"Okay, we can go talk." Se stood up and he stood up along with her. He headed for the exit and she followed behind. As she was leaving she caught Hanna looking at her skeptically. She just shrugged her shoulders and waved goodbye to her friend.
Toby had to be back to the room soon and he still hadn't found Spencer. He found out what room she was staying in, but when he went up there no one answered the door. So he's been checking every inch of the hotel since. He didn't know what was the matter with him. He was really worried about her being out here in Sin City where anything could happen.
He tried calling her and texting her for her to meet him. But his calls and texts went unanswered. Well, not exactly because Hanna texted from Spencer's phone saying she was off limits to talk to or see until the wedding. But that wasn't going to stop Toby from at least trying to get in contact with her.
After searching for her a little bit more, he decided he needed a break. He went back into the lobby because they had a bar there. He sat down and ordered himself a much needed drink. As he was waiting he looking down at his wedding ring. Every time he saw it, he always got a little happy because it reminded him of Spencer.
"Having doubts already?" Someone asked from behind him, but he didn't even have to turn around. He knew that voice and it was nails scraping along a chalk board.
"What are you doing here, Alison?" He asked coldly as he continued to down his drink because he could use the extra liquid courage.
She sat next to him with a mischievous smirk on her face."My family and I are here on a little business trip."
"Then why don't you go join them." Toby said sarcastically, but it still wasn't enough to make her leave.
"Jeez, Toby, I thought you were the nice guy." She said and he just rolled his eyes."Look, I just want to put everything that happened with us behind us."
He finally turned to her and pointed to the ring on his finger."Alison, I've put us behind me along time ago."
"So if you're married to Spencer what are doing in a place like this?"
"We eloped a few months ago. It's supposed to be my bachelor party for the next two days. And then the wedding is on Monday because our family's wanted us to have a proper wedding."
She pouted a little."No invitation for me?"
He rolled his eyes at her before ordering another drink."Is all you wanted to do was harass me tonight?"
"No, because believe it or not I care about you Toby and just wanted to see how you were doing."
"Well, as you can see I'm doing very good."
"That's good." She said."Are you and Spencer planning on having any kids soon?"
"Maybe. But that's none of your business."
She held her hands up in defense, but a smile stayed on her face."I was just asking because of what happened with the first baby."
Toby felt his stomach do flips. What was Alison up to? They never had a baby, so she had to just be starting some drama. Or was she?
He turned around to her fully with curiosity written all over his face."What first baby?"
"You mean you still don't know after all these years. Wow, Spencer can really keep a secret."
"Alison, stop screwing with me and tell me what you're talking about." He demanded in a tone that surprised his own self.
She pretended to be sad and she was good at acting like it."Toby, you didn't know that Spencer was pregnant in high school? It happened right after your little beach trip."
That was impossible. There was no way she could have gotten pregnant. Then the memories started coming back to him that they didn't use protection the first time. And it seemed highly possible that she could have been pregnant. But he never saw any signs that she had given birth. Now, the only question that remained for him was what happened to there baby?
He quickly pulled out his phone to send Spencer a text. He knew it was a bad idea because his emotions were high with anger and betrayal. Why didn't she tell him? And he was going to be even more upset if she gave their baby up for adoption or worse if she got an abortion.
Hanna, I need to talk with Spencer and I don't care what kind of rule you made. I need to talk to my wife as soon as possible. The sooner the better.
-Toby
"Excuse me, bartender," Alison called over to the bartender."Can you get my friend another drink because he's gonna need one. And just keep then coming."
He wanted to reject her offer of having a drink, but he could really use one right now. Or at least a couple of drinks and he just kept drinking back to back. He kept drinking until his vision got blurry and even then he still didn't want to stop. He knew it was a bad idea, but he just needed it tonight.
"Everything's gonna be okay, Toby." He heard Alison whisper close in his ear."I promise."
