Chapter 8; Mecha Tails

"So, Zeena, do you have any ideas?" Master Zik asked.

She shook her head at their Master, "No, I just find that the plan we have is a lot better and...safer."

"WHAT?!" Zazz shouted, his mouth hanging open in shock. Zeena glared at him.

"That's fine," Zonic said. "Let's just stick to the plan."

Zeena nodded, "Because if we go against that plan Eggman might figure out what we're up to and use the conch against us...or worse as punishment."

"I agree," Master Zik said.

Zazz pouted slightly. He wanted to destroy something or go against Eggman now. "Aww! No, destroy!"

"Patience, Zazz," Zavok told him. "We'll destroy something later."

Zazz chuckled when he heard this. Zonic looked at them and then to Mecha Tails, wondering what the robot would do.

Mecha Tails saw the dark blue Zeti looking at him and frowned. "What is it?"

Zonic still, whenever he looked at Mecha Tails, felt a small pane of guilt for not saving his once little buddy.

"It's...nothing," Zonic said. "I was just wondering if you're going to help us too."

Mecha Tails nodded.

Zavok grinned and looked at Zonic. "We should turn him into a full robot," he said. "He would be more powerful if he did."

Zonic looked at Zavok, he tried his best to hide his chock, but he couldn't. Mecha Tails had been his little buddy and he couldn't stand seeing him as a robot. He guessed that's why he gave up along with knowing his planet was dead.

The dark blue Zeti sighed. "That...that would be fine," he said.

Zavok nodded.

Zeena looked at Zonic, frowning. "You don't seem to want that to happen. You seem...hesitant." The word rolled off her tongue as if she was disgusted with it, making Zazz jump and looking at Zonic.

Zonic hesitated. "Sorry. It's just that...Tails has been my friend for years, and I can't stand seeing him as a robot; that's one reason I chose to become a Zeti."

Zonic could see some sort of anger in Zeena's eyes, but it didn't show in her expression as she walked closer to Zonic as slowly backed away. "Being a Zeti is showing your power to lower beings!" She pointed her manicured nails at him. "You act like you're strong, but on the inside you're weak! You're showing that right now, because your little friend...isn't around anymore." With that she turned from him and stomped back over to the group.

Zonic's eyes widened and he looked at Tails. He closed his eyes, thinking about what Zeena had just said. It was true; Tails wasn't his friend anymore, he was a robot programmed to serve the Zeti, and he was one of them now. On top of that, he was no longer Sonic the Hedgehog but a different person altogether. He didn't want to be weak like Zeena said, he had to be just like them now. Zonic opened his eyes and glared at Mecha Tails, then walked towards the other Zeti as the robot followed him.

Zor sighed and collapsed to the ground seeming to be bored. "What do we do now? It's hopeless. Eggman will surely win."

"Make Tails into a full robot," Zonic said as he walked up to him. "One that is very powerful; equip him with any weapons that you can."

His eyes gleamed evilly, and the other Zeti looked at him in shock. They turned to Zeena, wondering what she had told him.

Zeena shrugged at them. "I just said that we need to show our power to lower beings and he's weak on the inside because his friends are no more. I don't know how that can make him change so suddenly." The green Zeti looked to the smallest and wisest Zeti for an explanation. "Master, do you have any ideas?"

Master Zik thought about it. "Zonic has been through a lot, Zeena. Perhaps he was just thinking about what you said and realized that he needs to adapt to our lifestyle."

Zeena nods at this. "Maybe."

Zonic sighed and looked at them, nodding also. "I've fully accepted who I am now," he said.

"That's good," Zavok told him, and looked at Mecha Tails. "We are going to turn you into a full robot now to make you more powerful."

Mecha Tails bowed. "That sounds great," he said, his robotic eye glinting a little with slight joy.

Zavok smirked and looked at Zonic. "We will do that at once. All the roboticization equipment is here in the Lava Mountain Zone."

Zor stood back and sighed, "Can we go and cause some pain already?"

Zazz jumped up and shouted, crazily, "Pain! Pain! Destroy! Destroy!"

Zonic sighed and looked at them, then back to Zavok. "What shall we do?"

"We will do that...after Mecha Tails transforms into a full robot."

Zonic nodded his head, swallowing a lump in his throat. Was this really the right thing to do? Make his little buddy into a full robot? He had to make a decision. He had a right to in his place in the Deadly Seven now, but...should he still be Sonic the Hedgehog when Sonic is mostly gone along with his dead planet and friends and Zonic the Zeti is mostly taking over. Although he still feels that Tails is his little buddy in...some way. He couldn't be Sonic anymore because Sonic was the hero of Earth, and that planet was gone forever. The Zeti offered him a place among them and a new home; he had been reborn as Zonic. The dark blue Zeti knew that he could never turn back; he was Zonic, now and forever.

"Take Tails and make him a full robot," Zonic said.

Zavok nodded, and they walked into the roboticization chamber. Mecha Tails followed and Zavok pointed to a metal table with straps on it. Zonic would've flinched at the sight if he was still Sonic, that is. Mecha Tails complied and climbed onto the table and lay down.

He lowered the laser that partially roboticized Tails and smirked, then looked at Zonic. "Shall we proceed?"

Zonic nodded.

Zeena thought about and grinned and she led Zonic over to the control panel, he was confused and when he saw the controls he finally figured it out of what she wanted him to do. "Do you want to do the honors?" she asked, waving her hand in Mecha Tails' direction.

Zonic looked at her and nodded. He grabbed the lever and pulled, causing the laser to turn on. Then, it fired and hit Tails.

Mecha Tails just lay on the table, frozen as the rest of his body transformed from fur to metal. The process continued. Mecha Tails' body became metal entirely, and gained more weapons on his body also. The insides of his body laced itself with wires and computer programs. The blood turned to oil, and his brain became a computer chip. Mecha Tails was covered with hard metal and his twin tails were sharpened like knives that could cut through anything. His eyes were now red optics. Jet boosters were on his back and arms. His fingers had become sharp metal claws and the hair on his head crackled with electricity.

When the transformation was complete Zonic lifted the lever back up and looked at Mecha Tails and what he saw, slightly shocked him. He had done this to his little buddy, and on purpose. Mecha Tails sat up and hopped off the table, looking at his complete robotic body with excitement. He held his cannon and looked at the new design over it. Zonic was still a little in shock at what he had done to Mecha Tails. Zonic looked at Mecha Tails nonchalantly as the robot examined his new body and kneeled in front of the Zeti.
