Chapter 10: The Cave
They all nodded. The cliff wasn't too close which would make the base fall into the lava below whenever their inside, as a safety precaution.
"That will work," Master Zik said.
Zonic nodded. "How will we build it, though?"
Zeena thought about it for a moment before answering, "Maybe we can get wood from cutting down trees. Also if there are leftovers of Eggman's robots we can use the metals from them too."
Zonic thought about it, and then nodded. "That will be fine," he said, and looked at Tails. "Want to help?"
Tails nodded and bowed, "It will be a pleasure to get the materials you need to build the base." Zonic felt a little nervous from Mecha Tails bowing at him. He had only had that happen once and that was with alternate people of his friends, but not with the roboticized version of his best friend.
He shook it off and nodded. "That will be fine," he said.
Mecha Tails nodded, "What do you need me to get or do, Master Zonic?" Zonic bit his lip at what Mecha Tails called him a second time. It freaked him out at what he now called him.
He cringed. "You don't have to call me Master."
"But you are. All the Zeti here are my Masters and Mistress," Mecha Tails told Zonic. The dark blue Zeti still didn't like it.
"Still...I'd prefer it if you call me Zonic."
Mecha Tails nodded, still bowing, "Alright. As you wish Mast...Zonic."
Zonic smirked. "Thanks. Now, can you help us?"
Mecha Tails nodded. "Alright. What do you want me to get?" Mecha Tails asked Zonic.
"Get wood from cutting down trees. Also, we need some metal." Mecha Tails nodded and started up his jet before flying off to anywhere on Lost Hex where trees or broken badniks could be. Zonic watched him leave and then sighed, looking down, nervously and guilty. He went back to the others and cleared his throat. "Tails is going to help us," he said.
"Excellent! Great! This will be fun!" Zazz exclaimed, jumping up and down, cackling madly.
Zeena rolled her eyes at his immaturity.
"Oh yes, it will be fun building a base for Eggman even though we just are pretending to serve him," Zavok said sarcastically.
Zonic chuckled and nodded.
Zeena clasped her hands together, grinning, "Well, let's get started then, shall we?" Her grin growing as she looked to the mountain edge.
Zonic looked also and nodded. "Sure," he said. "Let's start building Eggman's base."
Mecha Tails flew over Lost Hex, searching for any materials that could help his Masters and Mistress build the base. He scanned the area, wondering what materials would help. He soon saw some scrapped badniks on the ground and decided that they looked good enough. The robot grinned and landed on the ground, scanning the badniks.
They were out of shape, but their metals looked good enough to be reused. Mecha Tails looked around and and also saw some trees. He was guessing he was at Tropical Coast again and smirked. The trees would be perfect to cut down and use for something. He used his tail blades as saws and began cutting down the trees. Mecha Tails also grabbed the badniks.
After he cut down the trees he cut the trees into smaller pieces of wood, so he would be able to carry it back easier with the badniks as well. Though he may need to make a few trips back as there are a few badniks and tree logs. The robot looked around and picked up a few trees and badniks, then flew back to the Zeti. Once he got back, he dropped off the material that he found, and spoke.
"I found a few broken badnik robots and trees that I cut down. I brought some back, but I will need to go back to get the rest," Mecha Tails told them.
Zonic looked at the others and nodded. "That is fine," he said. "How long will it take you?"
"Not long if I hurry, but not too fast," he told them once more, bowing to them. Zonic really didn't like the bowing stuff he was receiving from Mecha Tails, but he knew that he was bowing to the other Zeti and not just him.
Zonic nodded, and Mecha Tails flew off to gather the rest of the trees and badniks. He turned to the other Zeti "I'm bored, so I'm going to go for a run," he said.
The other Zeti nodded, and watched him run off. Zonic ran off the cliffside and jumped to the next rocky platform and began running again, jumping over any obstacles in his way. He continued to run, passing the other Zones until he came to Silent Forest. He stopped and looked around at all the trees and grass surrounding him. This place reminded him of the Mystic Ruins back on Earth. He missed it as he sniffed the air.
Zonic sighed and walked through the forest, looking around. Suddenly, he saw a cave and walked inside it. He looked around; it looked like the home of a Zeti. He frowned at this. A Zeti living in a cave? Why? That makes no sense to him. Didn't they live all over Lost Hex? He saw something out of the corner of his eye. A pile of paintings with a Zeti family on it. Also, there was a blanket near him that looked like it belonged to a child. Zonic lifted a brow at this. What did this mean? What did whole cave mean? He went to touch the blanket when the paintings caught his eye as well. They were paintings of Zavok, along with two other Zeti. One was a child, and the other was a Zeti who Zonic assumed was his wife. The newly turned Zeti was confused. Zavok had had a family? Did anyone else of the Deadly Seven know?
He turned away from the paintings and looked at the blanket. Curiosity got the best of him and he grabbed it. Suddenly his eyes widened and he fell to the ground, holding his head. Images flashed through his head, ones he never saw before. He stood up and looked around once more, then rushed back to the Zeti. Once he got there, he started freaking out; Zonic had no idea what that flashback meant, and those things he saw in the cave. He looked quite shaken and confused and didn't know what it meant. Zavok looked at Zonic with an eyebrow raised, wondering what was wrong with him.
"I...I...found a cave in the forest," he said. "There was a blanket and some paintings...when I touched the blanket, flashbacks appeared...what does it all mean?" He asked.
Zavok widened his eyes, not too much to cause any suspicion, but Zonic saw it and frowned, slightly. He was still confused and shocked of what happened, but seeing Zavok's expression made him...suspicious of what he was hiding. The red Zeti turned to the other five and waved them away, telling them to leave them be. Now Zonic was really suspicious.
"You...found them," Zavok said.
Zonic nodded. "What is this all about?"
Zavok sighed and looked at him. "There is something you must know, Zonic. It is time you learned the truth about your origins. You were not born as a hedgehog on Earth. You were born as a Zeti, here, on Lost Hex...and I am your father."
