Chapter 12: A Family Spat
Zonic shook his head, growling in pain. Why did this have to happen? What happened to his life? He knew that if Zavok was his Father he would never forgive for what he did to the planet he once called home and all his friends. Zonic fell on his knees, clutching his head in pain until finally banging them against the cold stone ground, tears falling from his eyes.
Memories flew through his head. He remembered almost everything about his life as a Zeti. Though still some things were still unclear, but he remembered some things. He still couldn't believe it. It didn't mean he couldn't forgive Zavok for what he's done. Zonic groaned and stood up. Zavok was his dad, but...he didn't like how he treated him when he came back to Lost Hex. He looked down in grief. However...he did cause the deaths of many innocent lives...as well as his friends.
What was he going to do? He just found out that Zavok was his dad, as well as he was a Zeti at birth. He would have to talk to Zavok. But Zavok had killed his friends and home planet by draining the life force from from it. How can he forgive him for that? This was all so hard for him to believe. Zonic sighed and looked around. He saw the painting of his family and picked it up, looking at the painting. A small smile came to his face as a tear rolled down his cheek. He looked at the blanket and held it, remembering that Zavok gave it to him as a child.
But the one thing he wondered was...why? If he realized it was him at the final battle he could've helped him save his friends and Earth and not let them...or him suffer. He ran out of the cave, clutching the blanket and painting, and headed back towards Zavok. Once he got back, Zavok looked at him and saw that Zonic was still upset, but not much. Tears were falling down the blue Zeti's face.
"If you realized who I was during the final battle, why did you not help me?" He asked.
Zavok was a little surprised at the sudden question and looked down at Zonic, sighing. "It was not the right time," he said. "If I had told you then...you would probably think I would be lying and trying to trick you. Besides, it would look suspicious to the other Zeti if I started helping you out of the blue."
Zonic nodded; that made sense. But that still didn't mean that he was behind the deaths of his friends and mechanizing his best friend nearly like a brother.
"You...you killed the people I cared about, and the planet Earth," Zonic told him critically.
Zavok sighed; he didn't know what to say. This was the hard part for Zavok; trying not to fight with own son, but Zonic's accusations was finding it hard for him not to. "Son, we were blinded by rage. All we could think of was how Eggman had controlled us and we wanted revenge on him for doing so, so we took it out on Earth."
Zonic frowned and tossed the blanket and painting to Zavok, who caught them in his hands and looked at them. He then, looked at Zonic in shock and the anger in his expression as he scoffed, tears were on the edge of his eyes. Zavok had destroyed the planet he had called home for many years. Killed many of his friends and mechanized his little brother. Zonic turned away and he started crying, then ran off.
Zavok dropped the painting and blanket and tried to run after Zonic, but the blue teenage Zeti was too fast for him. He didn't want to lose his son again. Zonic went back to the cave and fell to the ground, sobbing. Zavok decided to follow him, he didn't to lose Zonic again. Not after he had just got him back. Once he got to the cave, he saw Zonic sobbing on the floor.
He looked at Zonic and approached him, slowly, but the teenager heard him. He turned around, glaring a Zavok. Tears fell down his face. "What are you doing here?" Zonic asked.
Zavok hesitated. He looked at his son, sighing, he wanted to make his son feel better. He didn't want him to blame him. It wasn't his fault. It was Eggman's for controlling them and making them angry. "Son...I'm sorry; I didn't mean to make you angry. I don't blame you, though. We destroyed Earth and killed your friends but it was Eggman who was controlling us."
Zonic continued to glare at him and then turned his back. He scoffed and folded his arms, he was still angry. Beyond angry. He was nearly past his boiling point. Zavok walked forwards to comfort Zonic but the dark blue Zeti flinched.
"Don't touch me!" He yelled. Zonic stood in defense for himself. He couldn't take it anymore. He was broken once more. The life he had once know was gone and was full of lies. "What else have you lied about?" Zonic asked.
Zavok sighed and shook his head. "Nothing, I swear. Please, I just found you. I don't want to lose you again."
Zonic couldn't handle this. Everything he had known had been a lie and he didn't even know it. His whole life, a lie. He just couldn't take it anymore. "I can't do this anymore," he said with tears falling down his face. "My whole life has been a lie!" Zavok looked at Zonic in concern as the teenage Zeti put his head in hands and shook his head, shaking. "No...no..." Zonic kept saying. Zavok walked up to his son and put a hand on his shoulder, as if trying to calm him down. "Leave me alone," Zonic shouted. "I hate you!"
Zavok was in shock at Zonic's shout as the teenaged Zeti jumped to his feet and ran off out of the cave. "Zonic, come back!" He exclaimed, and ran off after his son.
