Ok first of all I cannot apologise enough for the ridiculous length of time that it has taken to get this up & I am so beyond grateful to each one of you for your patience :)

Depression, stress & anxiety have basically dominated my life for the past few months & I lost all motivation to do basically anything including write :(

so I apologise unreservedly for the wait :( and hope you'll all forgive me!

Jack led the way back to the North Pole. The four seasonal spirits plus a dragon made quite a sight (well they would if they were visible to anyone) one with a large, black dragon, another with snow-white hair, then one armed with a frying-pan and an intimidating chameleon and another with an untameable mop of fiery-red hair, yes they most definitely made an unusually sight as they coasted the winds to the North Pole.

"You sure that North isn't going to mind us just dropping in to quiz him about some crazy lady before leaving."

"Don't worry Punzel, North won't mind and you should see the size of his library, I am sure that he will have plenty of information on this 'Kayos' woman, don't worry, you'll see."

Once they arrived though, Jack discovered he was very wrong about the reliability of North's library. Not once in any of the hundreds of books they searched was Kayos mentioned even once. Not to mention that North hadn't even heard of her and neither had Bunny or Tooth. Sandy however was a different matter.

After Tooth, Bunny and Sandy had arrived and had been filled in on what had happened to the four seasonal spirits in London, Sandy had immediately shot into the air with exclamation marks shooting from him.

"Sandy, Sandy what is it? Do you know her?" North tried in vain to calm the Guardian of Dreams.

Eventually Sandy had calmed down enough to let his feet touch the ground again and made several rapid pictures from sand.

Jack, who out of the four Guardians was the only one who could decipher Sandy's sand messages with ease, stepped forward to Sandy.

"Go ahead Sandy, show us again."

As Sandy's message played through, Jack's face became increasingly worried, a look that didn't suit the young Guardian at all.

Finally Sandy's images dissolved into sand and Jack stood up and the two Guardians shared anxious looks.

"Jack? Sandy? Who is she?"

"I'm not sure of everything but I think what he was trying to say is he knows Kayos from when he first became a Guardian, well a few centuries after but never-mind. "He had been spreading dreams as per usual when the dreams became tainted with purple coloured strands... and well long story short, he followed the purple trails and found Kayos messing with his dreams, they fought, Sandy won, and she ran." Sandy nodded vigorously as Jack finished talking.

"So all we know about her is that she is old…"

"Not exactly Merida, we know a bit more than that, we also know that she doesn't like Sandy, or dreams and probably children as well…"

"So we know next to nothing of use about her then." Merida added.

Hiccup frowned and turned to look thoughtfully at Sandy.

"We know that she hates Sandy and will most likely want to destroy him, along with the rest of the Guardians, after all you five stand between her and total power-" Merida cut Hiccup off before he could finish.

"I imagine she also wants to destroy the four of us as well, otherwise why would she have appeared to us in London and alerted us to the fact that she exists."

"So just to sum up, an ancient, possibly quite insane woman wants us all dead and as she managed to take out Pitch by herself, a feat that took the five of us to accomplish, we should definitely be worried about her and the world domination plans she is most likely carrying out." Jack finished with a glum look.

"Wait! Do you remember she said to us that she had 'taken care of Pitch' and that we shouldn't worry about him, well what if we find Pitch and convince him to join us and aid us in taking her down?"

"Punzel you met Pitch, he hates us and everything we do, I really doubt that he is going to be first in line to team up with us."

"Just listen Jack, from what Kayos said its very likely that she seriously injured Pitch and so he is probably all alone and wounded so if we find and help him he might be willing to help us if only to get revenge upon Kayos."

Less than an hour later and the eight immortals were well on their way to locating Pitch. Using the information that Manny had provided them with during their search for Jack and Rapunzel they were able to find Pitch's lair as soon as the sun rose and after deciding that it would be smartest to send in Rapunzel and Hiccup as they would likely be the two that Pitch probably wouldn't try to attack and in the case of Rapunzel, would be able to heal Pitch. The rest would follow slowly and in case of danger would go to help Hiccup and Rapunzel.

Hiccup led the way through the dark tunnels, missing desperately the comforting presence of Toothless as they went further and further into the dark.

"When you and Merida came for us before did it take this long?" Rapunzel's quiet voice startled Hiccup who had been lost in his thoughts.

"I'm not sure, we were flying when we first came down here which obviously made it a lot faster, don't worry thought I doubt it's much further."

A few minutes later and Hiccup was proven right.

The tunnel suddenly widened and the two spirits found themselves in a large cavern surrounded on all sides by small, weak-looking nightmares who made no move to frighten the pair other than let out a few pathetic neighs.

"I think we are most likely to find Pitch over there, see that's where the largest gathering of nightmares is, my guess is that they are protecting him." Hiccup took Rapunzel's hand and led her, against his better instincts, to the large crowd of nightmares.

As they came closer Hiccup began to run through plans in his head. Last time he had been here he had a large , fire-breathing dragon to back him up, all he had now was his wits and a few meagre weapons that would do very little in the long run.

Luckily however the nightmares turned out to not be a problem.

As they got closer the nightmares closed around them but rather than seeming threatening it felt to Hiccup as though they were directing them to their master as if they understood that they were there to help.

The nightmares closed around them, leaving the two spirits surrounded on all sides there was however, no sign of Pitch.

"If Pitch isn't here then why I are we being surrounded? Hiccup what's going on?"

"It's ok Rapunzel, Pitch is probably hiding out-"

Hiccup was interrupted when the sea of nightmares surrounding them suddenly surged forward, with two especially large nightmares grabbing the two spirits and throwing them up onto their backs before chasing after their companions.

The herd of nightmares circled once around the small cavern before turning and running full tilt towards the rather solid-looking cave walls.

Any words the pair tried to scream out were pulled away by the wind created by the mad dash and as the wall loomed closer they shut their eyes, unable to escape the insane ride they were caught up in and unwilling to watch their deaths come closer.

Hiccup was the first to re-open them and when he did he was glad he did.

The nightmares had carried them through the wall, presumably using the same talent that enabled them to travel huge distances in seconds or to enter a child's room without the need of doors.

Lying crumbled on the ground in front of them was Pitch, dark blood staining the grey stone floor around him.

Hiccup glanced around for Rapunzel and was oddly relived to see she was already making her way to Pitch's side with her mouth opening and closing as she sang.

Hiccup hung back, quite willing not to get to close to the strange magic that he didn't understand.

Rapunzel could feel the power building up, and with her compassionate soul it didn't take long for tears to start pooling in her eyes as she looked at the helpless Nightmare King.

Pitch didn't move as she crept closer, the only sign that he was still alive was the rapid and uneven rise and fall of his chest as he took in breaths.

Rapunzel stood over Pitch and let her tears fall and smiled in relief as the familiar golden sun rose up from Pitch's body as the magic began to do its work.

And hour later and finally Pitch stirred.

Rapunzel hadn't moved from his side, eager to watch her magic work but now she jumped up and called eagerly for Hiccup who was already making his way over.

The two spirits watched Pitch as his eyes opened and he took in where he was. His nightmares quickly pressed in, all eager to ensure that their master was indeed healed.

Just as Hiccup and Rapunzel began to feel as through they were intruding on a special moment Pitch collapsed all the nightmares back down to shapeless sand and stared emotionlessly at Rapunzel and Hiccup.

"I assume that it was you who healed me." Rapunzel nodded and Pitch hmmed in response.

"I see, one question then. Why?"

"You owe me nothing, you have nothing to gain from my returning to full strength so why help me?" Pitch seemed genuinely curious and for the moment it seemed unlikely that he would hurt them so Rapunzel moved closer and explained as quickly and as simply as she could.

"I see so in return for my health I am to help you take down Kayos." Rapunzel nodded eagerly and Pitch couldn't help but smile at the innocent spring spirit.

"Very well, I shall help you. I may care nothing for the Guardians but I do however care that this world, if it will not be ruled by fear then it remains very much not ruled by chaos."

Pitch clicked his fingers and instantly three nightmares formed, snorting and pawing at the ground.

Pitch elegantly mounted the largest of the three and stared down expectantly at Hiccup and Rapunzel.

"I think you'll find that there is no way out of the particular cave without shadow-traveling with either me or my nightmares so hurry up and mount up."

Soon enough all three were mounted and the nightmares began to charge at the wall as they had done on the way in.

Despite knowing what was coming this time they both squeezed their eyes tight shut as the ran at the wall.
