Chapter 16: Eggman's Fury
When he woke up, he realized that is was already daytime. Zonic remembered what Eggman said and rushed back to the base. When he got there the other Zeti were waiting for him. Zonic bit his bottom lip. If it was already daytime...what time was it? He looked at Zavok and saw that he seemed concerned for Zonic yet he had a slight glare in his eyes. He must've been wondering where he was last night.
"Where were you last night?" His father asked.
Zonic looked at him. "I went for a run. What time is it, anyway?"
Zeena was about to tell him when they heard a loud yawn coming from the unfinished base and saw Eggman coming out. He saw them just standing there and tapped his watch. "What are you just standing around? It's 10 AM! Get moving!"
Zonic widened his eyes. He had been gone for that long? Zavok looked back at Zonic with a glare, wondering why he wanted to go on a run, but they needed to get to work. The teenage Zeti nodded and started to work once again. Zonic walked passed Zavok as the other five Zeti went to work on the base along with Mecha Tails, but Zavok stopped him. Zonic looked at Zavok, confused of why he stopped him. The red single Father Zeti wanted to know why his son ran off and didn't come back till now.
"Where did you run off to last night?" He asked.
"Oh, I just wanted to clear my head," Zonic told him. "I fell asleep while I was running, sorry." Then he whispered to his father, "I found a Chaos Emerald."
Zavok seemed quite surprised Zonic found one so quickly, but smiled nonetheless. Eggman walked over to them and glared at them. "What are you two whispering about?! If you don't tell me! THEN GET TO WORK!"
"What's eating him?" Zonic asked.
Zavok shrugged. Zonic looked at Eggman, trying to figure what was making him so angry. He shrugged and got back to work. Zonic picked up a scrapped badnik and grunted as he handed it to Mecha Tails to meld and chop into smaller pieces. Mecha Tails did so and Zonic continuing handing him the pieces. Soon, they had finished a few more rooms but were far from done. Eggmanland was a large building, and they needed more time.
Zonic lay down on the rocky ground again and groaned in tiredness. He wasn't used to such hard work. He rested for a few minutes before Eggman started yelling again.
"ZONIC! QUIT LAYING AROUND AND GET BACK TO WORK!" Eggman shouted at him, to show he meant it he kicked Zonic in the side, hard. Zonic grabbed at where he had been kicked at and gasped, glaring up at Eggman, growling.
"What's is your problem?" He yelled back. "Why are you so darn angry?"
"I just want my base built faster than the pace you lot are going at." Eggman looked at the other Zeti, then back at his arch enemy. "That should be no problem for you." Zonic get his glare on Eggman and gritted his fangs.
"I hate you so much," he said. "And stop treating is like slaves."
Eggman thought about it only for a second and then smiled, "You kind of are." He then, walked off and Zonic gritted his fangs, glaring at him. He walked back to the others, feeling very angry. His hands were shaking, but one was holding the side he was kicked in.
"Are you okay?" Zavok asked in concern.
Zonic shook his head. "Eggman kicked me, and he's treating me like a slave."
"Probably he wants to make you feel worse than the rest of us since you were his enemy when you were on Earth," Zeena explained her theory. Zonic shrugged, thinking that could be it.
"Yeah, that's probably why." He took his hand away from his side and hissed in pain. Eggman had kicked him pretty hard and now there was an ugly dark blue and purple bruise there and he cringed at the sight. "Darn it, Eggman," he said, looking at his enemy in hatred.
Eggman turned around and saw the Zeti standing around. He tapped his watch and pointed at the sun. "HEY! YOU DON'T GET OFF UNTIL NIGHTFALL! GET BACK TO WORK!" Zonic growled at him.
He hated Eggman even more now. The teenage Zeti glared at him and then continued working. He had half a mind to either lunge at him right now or throw a piece of metal at him. But he knew that if he did that, Eggman would be even more furious. Zonic sighed, shaking in anger. He really wanted to kill him. Wait. Zonic stopped shaking and widened his eyes in shock. Was that really his own thought? Did he really just think that? Did he really want Eggman dead? He growled; it didn't matter what he thought anymore. He wanted to kill Eggman with his own two hands.
Then, Zonic thought about Blaze. How would she take it if she found out he wanted to kill Eggman? Knowing her, she wouldn't want him to. But he wasn't his old self anymore; he had changed. But he still liked her. Did that mean he would do anything for her? He didn't know. Zonic glared at Eggman once more before returning to work on Eggman's base.
Eggman had seen Zonic just standing in the middle of the rocky cliff just day dreaming and he glared at him as he began to get back to work. Eggman saw a rock on the ground, picked it and threw at Zonic's head. The blue teenage Zeti froze and and them growled as he turned to Eggman, left eye twitching.
"Punishment for day dreaming and not working," Eggman said, smirking.
"You..." Zonic said, and lunged towards him with murderous intent. Eggman's eyes widened as the Zeti sped towards him and started wounding him.
The other Zeti were shocked at Zonic's lunge and Zavok knew he had to stop Zonic before he ruined their plan. He ran over to Zonic and grabbed him as the Zeti teenager continued to struggle in his Father's grasp and tried to get at Eggman. His anger was over the top and he wanted to get at him.
"Let go of me," Zonic said. "I'll kill him! He will die!"
Zonic kicked Zavok way and lunged and Eggman, slashing his claws against Eggman's chest, creating a large wound. Eggman yelled in anger and dropped the Conch, causing Zavok to pick it up. Zavok looked at the conch and then at his son, beating up Eggman with worry and then threw the conch on the floor.
The red Zeti smashed his foot down on the Conch, destroying it instantly. Zonic was still wounding Eggman badly. Zavok looked to his son and grabbed his arm, stopping him from wounding Eggman anymore. Zonic growled in anger and looked at Eggman, who groaned in pain and glared at the Zeti angrily. Zavok took Zonic away from Eggman as he stood up, glaring Zonic. "If I had my conch still I would blown it. You deserve a bad punishment for that."
Zonic growled in anger. "I don't care; it was worth it."
Eggman kept his glare on Zonic and pointed at the unfinished base. "Get back to work! And this time...no slacking off!" Zonic just growled at Eggman as he walked off.
