Chapter 18: The Zeti's Betrayal

"You between not fall out of line again, Sonic," Eggman muttered.

"The name's Zonic," he said. "Get that through your thick skull of yours, Baldy McNosehair. And besides, we don't have to listen to you anymore now that the Conch is broken."

Eggman growled and pointed a finger at him, "If the conch is gone...then why are you still working for me and not attacking me straight on?!"

Zonic ignored him, then turned around and walked back to the other Zeti. "I say we attack him now," he whispered to them. "The base is nearly finished anyway and we've destroyed the Conch."

Zavok thought about it and nodded.

Zeena looked at the base and then a thought hit her, "I have a better idea." She began to lower her voice. "Why don't we finish the base like we said. Make Eggman go inside and then destroy it. That way it crumbles and falls on him."

Zazz jumps for joy at this, "Oh goody!"

Zavok and Zonic nodded.

"That would be best," Zonic said. "It shouldn't take us too long to finish it."

"Then you can find the other emeralds once Eggman is out of the way," Zeena said.

Zonic smiled. "I'll do that."

Zeena nodded at this. "Then let's do that?" Zazz laughed, madly.

"This won't work. It never does," Zor sighed.

"Yeah, let's do it."

Master Zik nodded. "I'd say it will take us another week to finish the base."

Zonic and Zazz both groaned, they wanted to finish the base as quickly as possible and be done with being slaves.

"But we don't need to listen to him anymore," Zonic said. "The Conch is destroyed."

"But if we destroy the base in top of him and he doesn't escape it will kill him, equaling in no more Eggman," Zeena told him.

Zonic thought about it and shrugged. "I'd rather kill him now. It would be more satisfying."

Zeena growled and folded her arms, "Your hopeless to explain these things to."

Zonic chuckled and nodded. Zeena rolled her eyes and went back to work. The teenage Zeti sighed and followed them, then got back to work as well. They worked throughout the week, building the base. Eggman wondered why they were doing so but shrugged it off, glad that they were doing so. Once they had finished the base at the end of the week, all seven Zeti sat on the ground, exhausted. Eggman walked up to them, grinning, and walked inside.

"Now, this is somewhere nice and perfect to begin my plans," Eggman laughed.

The Zeti nodded.

"Indeed it is," Zavok said, grinning. He nodded to the other Zeti.

Zonic, Zazz, Mecha Tails and Zeena ran onto the roof while Zomom, Master Zik and Zor took the bottom. They began to tear the the rocks from the concrete and with Mecha Tails; blasting through the roof.

Eggman heard the noises and looked to the doorway to see Zavok, grinning at him. Eggman pinned at him in hatred, "I knew you would betray me. You and that little rat."

Zavok growled in anger and attacked Eggman, fatally wounding him. Zonic stopped him.

"Let me give the final blow, father," he said.

Eggman was shocked to hear Zonic refer to Zavok as his father. "W...What? How is that even possible? You're a hedgehog?" Eggman said. Zonic picked Eggman up by his coat and glared him in the eyes.

"You know nothing. Zavok told me the truth: I was born on Lost Hex, and he is my father. You will never bother us again. Goodbye, Eggman."

Zonic held his hand around Eggman's neck and twisted it, breaking the doctor's neck instantly. The doctor fell to the ground with a thud and Zonic growled, destroying the base. It crumbled to the ground, burying Eggman's dead body underneath it.
