Chapter 20: Entering the Sol Dimension
A few minutes later, he arrived in the Sol Dimension. It looked the same as when he had last been here. A city on an island, surround by the sea with a castle at the far edge. He looked to his destination, the castle. It'd take a lit of explaining to get her to believe him. He smiled and sped towards the castle, hoping to see Blaze once more. As he passed the village, though, he saw a familiar face. It was Shadow. Zonic couldn't believe it. Someone from Earth had survived. He was overcome with joy! That means if Shadow survived some others could've as well!
The Zeti stopped and looked at his friend, wondering if he should go up and talk to him. But Shadow might think him an enemy. Still, he could explain what happened to him. But...could he really take the chance? He hesitated, wondering what to do. He shook his head and headed straight back to his regular destination, the castle. A few minutes later, he came to the castle and walked inside. Blaze was sitting on the throne, and looked up as he came in. She gasped in shock.
She got onto her feet and got a flame in her hand, ready to attack as she narrowed her eyes at Zonic. "Who are you? And why did you sneak into the castle?"
"Blaze...I know this may sound crazy and you may not believe this but...it's me. Sonic!" Zonic exclaimed, hating to use his old name. Blaze stopped and stared at him.
She looked him up and down, seeing the similarities between him and Sonic. Her flames dispersed and her eyes widened. "What? Sonic...everyone thought...you were dead..."
Zonic shook his head. "No...as you can see, I'm very much alive. But my name isn't Sonic anymore...it's Zonic."
He sighed and explained everything. Once he was done, Blaze looked at him in shock.
"What? You were born on a place...called the Lost Hex as a Zeti and weren't really a hedgehog?" She asked through her shock.
Zonic nodded. "You're not...afraid of me now, are you?"
Blaze smiled and shook her head. "I wasn't afraid. You know my job is to protect my kingdom and because I didn't recognize you I attacked you. Sorry Son...Zonic. That's going to take some getting used to," she said.
The Zeti chuckled and nodded. "I saw Shadow on the way here. How did he get to the Sol Dimension? I thought all the people on Earth were killed."
Blaze shook her head with a smile, "No, they weren't." Her smile faded. "Only Amy and Knuckles didn't make it here."
Zonic sighed in relief. "That's great. How did they find out that Earth was being destroyed?"
A few minutes later, Silver appeared beside them. "I came to warn them of the attack on Earth and it being destroyed. I couldn't find you or Tails to warn you two or Amy or Knuckles." His ears bent back in guilt and shame. "Is Tails alright?" Zonic looked down, not wanting to answer that.
"No...he's not. He went with me to Lost Hex and is now a robot under our command."
Blaze looked at Silver, knowing the full story as she had been told. The white hedgehog widened his eyes and growled, "This is my fault. I didn't look hard enough."
Zonic looked up at him. "You did your best," he said. "Don't worry about me. I'm actually happy with my new life as a Zeti."
Blaze looked at him with widened eyes, "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I am. Except..." He sighed. "Blaze, the reason I came here is because...well, I love you, and I was wondering...would you like to come live with me on Lost Hex?"
Blaze was shocked at this as was Silver. She looked at Zonic and sighed. "Zonic, I have the same feelings for you..." That got his hopes up. "...but I can't leave my kingdom defenseless. I'm sorry." Her ears bent back as she turned away and headed back to the throne.
Zonic frowned and sighed. "I...I see," he said in disappointment, and turned to leave.
A sudden pain shot through Silver and he cried out in pain. Blaze looked at her friend in worry. "Silver!" Zonic looked too only to see Silver's hand...fading.
Zonic looked shocked. "Silver? What's going on?"
Silver shook his head, shakily, too shocked to answer. When he finally got his mouth moving he said, "I...I don't know. It may have to do with a time paradox."
Blaze and Zonic watched in horror as Silver continued to disappear.
"No...Silver, no!" Zonic shouted, but it was too late. Silver had disappeared completely. Zonic stared at the place that Silver had been and fell to the ground. Another one of his friends was gone. Blaze knelt down and put a hand over his shoulder, comforting him. Zonic, however, pushed her away and stood up, running out of the castle. A rage was building inside him and he screamed as an instinct to destroy filled him. One thing was on his mind: to destroy the Sol Dimension.
