So, I just wanted to ask anyone reading this if Cedric seems a little stupid. Because I feel like he is and I'd like to change it if anyone else thinks so too.

Giselle decided she had stalled enough. She had watched as one of the boys, Zero, finished his hole and made his way back to camp. It was obvious that he was the fastest out of all of them. If she led them to believe that she was slower than him, she had blended in well enough for now. She sped up a little faster and finished just in time. She was starting to feel a little sick and she knew exactly what it was. It had been a while since she fed on any kind of blood and it was starting to take it's toll.

Thankfully, the 'medicine' that Ulric had given Pendanski was her saving grace. Ulric was one of the smartest men she had ever met. He had created a mixture of human and animal blood that would keep her fed and yet keep back the craving to kill the nearest human being.

She had actually went a few more days than she should have. To keep herself from becoming horribly ill, she was suppose to drink it every three days. She was hoping that maybe she could push herself and maybe not have to take it as often. One of her greatest accomplishments was feeding off of animals alone. The thought of drinking from humans didn't sit well for her. Some of her best friends were regular people and it was too creepy to think of sinking her teeth into them. If she drank Ulric's mixture, it would be undoing two decades worth of work.

She didn't have a choice anymore. She could feel her stomach turning against her. As she climbed out of her hole, she hoped she could make it back to camp in time.

As she stood up, it hit her harder than it ever did before. Her head throbbed and her stomach churned. She felt the whole world go fuzzy as she fell to her knees. It must have been the heat and the fact that she had done more physical work in one week than she had ever done. Her strength was disappearing fast and she knew the next stage wasn't going to be pretty.

"Are you okay?" the boy named Caveman knelt beside her. "You don't look good at all."

She shook her head, "I'm-I don't think-" She couldn't get her words out. The pounding migraine kept her from focusing. It was all she could do to sit there, yet alone talk. "My...my medicine..."

Caveman jumped to his feet, waving the others over. "Guys, get over here. Something's wrong."

As they gathered around her, Giselle felt a lump in her throat. If she didn't make it back soon, her organs would start shutting down next. By that time, there'd be no saving her

"What do we do?" Armpit sounded like she felt: helpless.

Caveman got down beside her again. "She said something about medicine. Mom must have it. How are we getting her back, though?"

Anything that was said after that didn't get through to her. She couldn't focus anymore. Her stomach felt like it was was being torn apart. It got worse with each breath she took and she could feel the vomit raising. All her attention was on trying to keep whatever was in her stomach down.

It didn't work. Before she knew it, she threw up anything she had eaten and when she looked down, she could see blood mixed in with the contents of her stomach. That's when she knew any chance she would make it got even smaller. Giving up, she fell to her side as she lost the strength to hold herself up anymore. She felt cold and she cursed at herself for being so stupid.

Suddenly, she felt herself being lifted up. She couldn't tell who it was but she was still thankful someone finally decided to do something.

Everything went dark. She didn't know how long it took but the next time she opened her eyes, she was in a cool, dark room. Pendanski leaned over her and started talking to her but she couldn't make out a word he said. That's when she smelled it. The sweet, bitter smell of blood hit her nose and it gave her enough strength to grab the small glass bottle from him. She lifted it to her lips and poured the warm, think liquid into her mouth. Blood had never tasted as wonderful as it did then. She could feel her stomach relax as she closed her eyes.

oooOOOooo

Cedric and Caveman walked back to their holes slowly. He could still see her, lying in the dirt. Pain seemed to take over her whole body when he decided not to wait for the others. He had carried her back to camp and Caveman had ran on ahead to warn Mr. Sir and Pendanski. They waited outside the office, waiting for any word on how she was. Pendanski was the one who told them she got her medicine and was resting. Mr. Sir told them to go back and finish their holes.

"What do you think is wrong with her?" Caveman kept his eyes down as he walked. "I've never seen someone get that sick before. That was-"

Cedric nodded, "I know. She was so...cold." He looked at his hands. Was it her illness that made her that cold or was that her normal temperature? He had never felt someone that cold and he wasn't sure what to make of it. "I'm just glad we got her back in time."

Caveman nodded. They continued to walk in silence until they got back to where they were digging.

Everyone was still there, hanging out in a group. When they saw Cedric and Caveman, they rushed over.

"What happened?" Magnet asked looking between the two of them.

X-Ray nudged him aside, "Is she gonna be okay?"

"Yeah," Cedric started, "I think we got her there just in time. Mom said she was able to take the dose she needed. He said she was sleeping it off."

They all stood there, silent. Cedric got a sinking feeling in his chest. All the signs were coming together. Her hair, her skin, and her icy, cold skin all pointed to one thing. She had to be the one he was looking for. It had to be her No one else fit the list like she did. Until he could prove it, though, he had to keep an eye on her One of the few things that stuck out in the journal was how dangerous this vampire could be. And if it was true, he'd have to prepared.

For anything.
