OKAY. I SERIOUSLY APOLOGIZE FOR MY LACK OF UPDATE. I SERIOUSLY FEEL LIKE BEATING MYSELF UP. OKAY. This chapter took me very very long to write, maybe about 6-7 hours or so, without editing because somehow this chapter took me way longer to imagine and try to pen it down. I just finished all the stupid major exams which hell yeah, I kinda didn't do all that way haha…
I got myself into Shingeki no Kyoujin fandom, and for lack of any inspiration I did a fanfiction on Ereri haaha…
I'm really, really sorry readers for making you lovely guys wait so long for this chapter, and I will update the next chapter as soon as possible without making my brain explode.

The door creaked open and closed with a slam.
''Hey Lon.'' Laudner smiled at the young face staring back up at him.
''Was it really necessary for you to specifically bring them here just to make them undergo this fear stimulation?'' Lon asked flatly. His blue eyes doesn't looked like they belong to a living person.
''Of course, it's the main point of why I made them come to the future. It was all but a part of my plan. By using Tsuna, I can lure the Primo family into a trap. I can't hurt them in the past, not when I'm weaker. But with the technology my descendant, Byakuran, have, I can force their dying will flames to awaken with their fear. I also needed the Acrobaleno who have sealed the Mare ring to be present to break the seal. I need the pacifiers of those who sealed the ring and the Vongola rings as well to be present. I would definitely need the original dying will flame of the wills that resided in the Vongola ring.'' Laudner rambled on while Lon listened on slightly, his glassy blue eyes barely showing emotions.
''By releasing the news about the disappearance of the young Vongola Boss candidate, the enemies of Vongola will definitely attack the now vulnerable Vongola HQ. The overly naïve and innocent Tsunayoshi Sawada will definitely rush back to save his family first thing hearing about it. Then, Sepira will be forced to give Giotto the Vongola Rings when she somehow knew that I will be attacking them, thinking of revenge when Tsuna is gone. She was partially right though.'' Laudner ended with a slight chuckle.
Laudner spun his chair around, whirling himself around in a slow hurricane.
Lon was silent, again.
''To do this much, I require Sawada Tsunayoshi. I would need full control over his mind and break him. I need Giotto's vampire blood to awaken the hidden power in the Mare Ring. The blood will serve to amplify the power of the ring. With the successful kidnap from previously, I managed to confirm two things.''
Laudner held up an syringe between two fingers that looked slightly longer than normal ones with a needle twice thicker with a reddish-pink liquid flowing gently like water inside.
''One, this serum Marialie created is able to manipulate the part of the mind which controlled body movements. Two, this paralyzing poison worked especially well on vampires which could even make their heart stop temporarily if added in large amount, but they don't die that easily. I think Marialie named it Icemalime?''
Laudner propped his head on his hand.
''Aren't I a genius, Sepira?'' Laudner whispered, while looking at the metal cabinet.
'… Wouldn't that be Marialie?' Lon thought in his head, but he would never say it out loud. He still treasured his life.
''Uncle!'' A cute and carefree voice got louder as tiny and rapid footsteps were bombarding down the corridor, nearing the IT Lab 5 the three were in. Laudner sighed as soon as he recognized the little familiar footsteps.
The young girl quickly banged open the door and closed it behind her, panting heavily as she bent over, supporting her muscle-strained body on her knees. Her auburn coloured fringe covered her pretty brown eyes partially which had heavy eye bags underneath them.
''Marialie, you aren't supposed to be here.'' Laudner chided sternly without looking to his back where a large pair of eyes was gazing up at him with mesmerizing charm and innocence. No, not innocent, but naïve, more like.
''But! I wanted to tell you that there are intruders in the base!'' The girl pouted indignantly at the indifference she was getting.
''WHAT?! Say that earlier!'' Laudner screamed at the young girl, spinning around immediately.
''But you were the one who didn't care about what I was trying to say!'' The girl screamed back at him with angry tears threatening to spill from her smoked topaz eyes.
''…'' Laudner's face melted back into passiveness again as he studied the girl before him. No, he hasn't grown soft enough to feel guilty at his outburst. No, it wouldn't work that way…
''I'm sorry, Marialie. After this is over, I promise to bring you to an amusement park okay? They exist only in this era and they said it's pretty fun.'' Laudner fell to one knee and held one of Marialie's soft hands in both of his and gazed up at those pair of brown eyes. Their sparkle resembled Sepira's ones, and Laudner himself had always found it mesmerizing just like how the star in the blanket of night sky did to him.
''Really!'' Marialie's eyes immediately glowed with a new found brilliance and curved into two thin happy lines. Her lips were stretched to their limit as she smiled from ear to ear.
''Yeah…'' Laudner looked down at his knee, contemplating. ''First, I would have to get rid of the intruders. Help me with it?''
''Of course! You are my favourite uncle!'' The young girl continued to beam naively, watching her uncle stand up slowly and walked over to the array of computers.
''Where are the intruders?''
''In the storage facility at the back of the building.''
''Ah… No wonder the alarm system didn't go off…'' Laudner smirked to himself as he relaxed back into the chair. ''Because that's where…''

10 minutes before…
''Huff huff.'' Gokudera panted as he pushed himself through the narrow crevice, followed by the rest of the guardians, including Chrome who had mostly recovered.
''We will go the other way.'' Reborn said as he looked at the seven through the gap from the brightness of the outside.
They nodded solemnly and the acrobaleno took to their designated path on the other side of the building.
''I wonder where this is…'' Mukuro muttered darkly as the guardians went their separate ways, but still remaining close enough, to explore the dark place which had a slight stench of something… burnt.
''How's the new function coming, Gokudera?'' Yamamoto asked cheerily above the grim situation.
''For once, Gianini did something good. The Night Vision is working well.'' Gokudera grumbled unwillingly.
''But this place… It gives me a bad feeling.'' Chrome whispered, leaning closer towards Mukuro and walking slower.
''Chrome, are you sure you are well enough to venture out?'' Mukuro asked in as cold as a voice he could. But it didn't go as smoothly as he wanted.
''Yes, Mukuro-sama!'' Chrome smiled and her cheeks glowed with a pink twinge, reading between the lines of Mukuro's rare kindness in that one line.
''Hey, I found a door.'' Gokudera shouted out to everyone.
''Here.'' Gokudera pointed to a metallic door on the far end of where they entered from, which was a pretty long stretch of nothing but boxes.
''Do you want to open it?'' Hibari asked, readying his tonfas at his side.
''Do we have any other choice? It's possible they already knew we are in here, we have no choice isn't it. There's no other way in.'' Mukuro said, much to Hibari's irritancy teetering on the edge.
''It could be a trap though.'' Gokudera said.
''JUS-'' Ryohei started.
''Shut. Up.'' Gokudera shushed the loud boxer with his hand muffling his voice.
Gokudera turned the round knob, but was met with a resistance. ''Can't open!''
Gokudera breathed and took in a familiar smell he was all to used to.
''Crap. I smell gunpowder.'' Gokudera took a quick turn about the balls on his feet and sprinted for the gap they entered from.
''RUN FOR IT IF YOU WANT TO LIVE.''
''GYAAAAA!'' Lambo shrieked before being carried up and placed on Yamamoto's back.
''You okay, kid?'' Yamamoto asked gently.
''Yes!'' Lambo cried out in relief, tugging at the collar of Yamamoto's shirt. Gokudera clicked his tongue in displeasure.
''Chrome.'' Mukuro acknowledged simply before swooping her up and falling into his arms princess-style.
''M-Mukuro-sama!?'' Chrome stuttered, almost impossible to really hear her gasping Mukuro's name but common sense tell otherwise.
''It would be troublesome if you die on us now.''
''3 more seconds before the bomb detonate!'' Gokudera threw a last look behind his back to make sure everyone is there, Mukuro and Chrome being the last since Chrome still wasn't feeling too well from the start. Gokudera calculated quickly and determined that Mukuro and Chrome would not be able to make it.
''Hurry up!''

''Ah… The bomb went off.'' Laudner commented as he took large and purposeful steps down the long corridor.
''The door was set in a way that if the person opening the door twist the doorknob first instead of pressing the unlock pad at the side of the door, the time bomb will start and explode in under seven seconds. Ingenious, don't you think?''
''Yes uncle!'' Marialie responded enthusiastically.
''That's right.'' Laudner said and rubbed the top of Marialie's head.

''What was that!'' Colonello shouted and turned swiftly to where the sound came from. ''An explosion?!''
''They are in trouble.'' Reborn barely hid the horror in his tone when he felt that thing again, which we like to call instinct, as sharp as a Damascus steel knife.
''We have to help them!'' Skull cried out desperately upon hearing Reborn said that.
''No, we don't have to.'' Fon said calmly and continued to hide in the shadows of the corridor, inching bit by bit.
''They are the Vongola Guardians.'' Aria finished.

''Cough, cough.'' Chrome panted heavily as the smoke particles were still clouding her lungs passageway.
''… Now we have to find another way in.'' Gokudera grumbled, standing up and sweeping dusts and grass off his shirt.
''We don't have time already, according to Aria, we barely have over ten minutes to reach Tsuna before the process of awakening the Flames of the original family starts.''
''Juudaime… Please… Be safe.'' Gokudera pleaded desperately, in his heart, crumbling the corners of his shirt.

''The future has been changed with interference from the Past, I don't know what will happen now.'' Lon concluded, flipping through the charts steep fluctuation displayed on the monitor in a heartbeat and giving a glance at the giant machine.
''Neh neh, Uncle, what do we do now?'' Marialie asked while tracing little circles on the ground and propping her tired head on her palm.
''Wait.'' Laudner replied calmly, trying to peer through the smoke in the room.
''They managed to escape didn't they.'' Lon nearly rolled his eyes.
''Quiet please.'' Laudner tried hard to keep his tone achromatic.
''You forgot that Gokudera is an expert in firearms huh.'' Lon shook his head and, being bored out of his mind, pinched Marialie's cheeks much to her dismay.
''Kyaaa!''
''Stop teasing her already.''
''Why don't you start being serious already. I'm bored out of my life here.''
''Okay, it's time to start the final round of this game of Catch.''

''T-This!'' Reborn managed to utter out when they slowly pushed open a door at the end of the corridor, leading to a two-floored large rectangular room. He could see the seven original Vongola guardians encased in ice, suspended in mid-air inside a glass container, probably hardened glass at that, almost in a frozen trance way. Surrounding the ice was a large machine.
''How dare they…'' Reborn hissed, the chameleon on his fedora hat shifted and turned into a machine gun.
''Acrobaleno, my dear Acrobaleno. I wouldn't advise that if I were you.'' Laudner's voice boomed from the bottom of the room.
The acrobaleno flung themselves into the metal railings that lined the sides of the upper floor where a large hole occupied the bulk of the middle, allowing the acrobaleno to look down to the bottom floor.
Laudner stood there, smart with his sleek white hair combed backwards and his amethyst eyes seemingly drilling holes into each of the acrobaleno's eyes (to which Skull shrieked in a girly voice).
''Doesn't he look like a certain someone?'' Fon mused aloud.
''Byakuran, you mean?'' Laudner supplied helpfully, and chuckled to no one in particular. He rubbed at the mark beneath his left eye.
''Rather than that, why are they there? Illusions?'' Reborn narrowed his dark sea-like eyes at the seven frozen figures.
''No, they are real.'' Came Mammon's voice helpfully.
''But, they are from the past aren't they? Hundreds of years back…'' Aria's voice dropped to a whisper.
''If people can get teleported to the future, I don't see why the Past can't teleport to the so-called Present.'' Laudner replied lazily, almost annoyed, and went to busy himself with the computer behind him.
''How dare you… To the Primo Family! Who are you exactly!''
''Me? Mmmm The name's Laudner, and that's all you need to know for now. If it was me, I wouldn't stand there you see.'' Laudner grabbed at a handful of white marshmallows and stuffed it in his mouth.
''Huh?''
''Down!'' Fon shouted, making all the acrobalenos jumped and barely missed the burst of fire that came their way by a hair's length.
Moving swiftly, Reborn readied his gun and sniped at whoever was hiding behind the cloud of smoke, and heard a groan.
''Ah… You hit him. Indeed worthy of the title of the 'Strongest Acrobaleno', though in my time it was the Cloud acrobaleno…'' Laudner muttered without even flinching.
''Huh?'' Reborn's eyebrows pushed up to their limit, pointing the gun this time at the white-haired male.
''Tsuna.'' Laudner smirked, his eyebrows perked in amusement and a twitch trembled his lips slightly.
The smoke was cleared adequately to glimpse an image of a tuft of brown hair and brilliant orange eyes.
''Dodge!'' Reborn managed to force out in his shock before ducking downwards to avoid another channel of burning orange flame sent straight at them.
''Why Sawada!'' Colonello shouted at the brown-haired who flew upwards, leaving behind a jet of flames and avoided the flimsy shot of the lethal 'Maximum Burst'.
''He's not himself.'' Reborn analysed quickly.
''That was quick, you were even faster than Primo.'' Laudner laughed sarcastically. A cold and hard laughter.
''Tsuna! If you want to get back to yourself, now is the time.'' Reborn threatened, his gun aiming straight at the brunette standing abnormally straight beneath the hole he made in the second floor.
If he could have done it like he always had.
'If he allows Tsuna to fight in here, then he must be certain that the glass cannot be broken by dying will flame…' Reborn thought desperately. 'We must distract Tsuna if we were to get him out alive out of this stupid mess and save the Primo family, and to kill Laudner. Nobody else noticed it, but he has this invisible barrier put around him by that pair of blue eyes behind the glass container which reflects all damages to him. Judging by the amount of dying will flame, I doubt the barrier can last for more than 10 minutes. Until then, we have to withstand Tsuna's attack. Where's the guardians?'
''That's exactly accurate, Reborn-san.'' Laudner spoke, still slightly high from the outburst he had. ''You catch up faster than I think, and that makes you really dangerous.''
'You read my mind?'
''Hahaha, since the moment you stepped into this room, your fate is sealed. You are going to end up like them.'' Laudner pointed to his back where the frozen Primo family was.
''There must be a catch to his ability to read mind, anywhere.'' Reborn said aloud, finding it unnecessary to think inside his head.
''Tsuna!'' Laudner ordered, pointing at the acrobaleno. ''Disable them, but don't kill them.''
''Mammon, illusions!''
Bam, Tsuna was wrapped in illusionary tentacles, but it would only work for a fraction of a second.
''Fon, attack.''
Tsuna's body was weakened with the storm flames' disintegrating factor.
''Skull, Armoured body. Grab Laudner.''
And so he did.
''Verde, the machine.''
And for once, Verde didn't grumble and worked on finding out what the large machine was for.
''Colonello, do your thing.''
Colonello aimed two shots at both of Tsuna's knees, but he didn't groan in pain. Almost, like a puppet with broken strings, Tsuna fell to the floor.
Reborn threw Leon at Tsuna who shifted into a net and wrapped itself around him, successfully catching Tsuna.
''I guess if Tsuna doesn't have a goal to protect what's precious to him, he's even weaker than a thin sheet of paper.'' Laudner commented nonchantly, swinging his legs back and fro in his chair where Skull was grabbing him by the neck.
''Hey! You're already seeing Hell's gate but you still have this kind of attitude!?'' Colonello shouted gruffly, building up rain flame for a next ultimate attack.
'Since the moment you stepped into this room…' Reborn recalled, thinking hard as he looked from Tsuna to Laudner and back again.
'Tsuna attacking us… Sky Flame… Harmony… Yes that's it! Harmony Sky Flames allows one to synchronize with one's surrounding! That's how he was able to read our mind, he synchronized with our mind!' Reborn realized with a start.
''Stop Skull!''
''Urgh!''
Laudner moved only with minute deft movements, and Skull let out a peal of terrified shrieks as a sharp razor blade formed out of sky flames was pressed to where the largest artery in his neck was.
The acrobaleno froze.
''I hate to resort to this, but if you all move even a single step, I will slice without hesitation. Keep it in those oh-so-fabulous minds of yours that I can read your thoughts as easily as reading a children book.''
''Uncle! Uncle! Read me one now!'' Marialie emerged from the shadows of the large machine, eyes full of gaiety and hope.
''No, Marialie!'' Laudner shouted with unadulterated shock, his head whipping back at the teensy young girl running out of her cover.
''NOW!'' Reborn shouted and leapt forward gallantly, along with the other five except Mammon who was casting an illusion on Laudner, taking advantage of the chaos and succeeded. Skull managed to wriggle out of the vice grip held on him and flopped onto the floor into a mess of sweat and panting.
Reborn held Laudner at point black with his gun pressed firmly to the side of Laudner's head, while the others held Laudner's movement. Mammon was off to suppress the one protecting Laudner, together with Skull. Fon went to apprehend Marialie.
''What did you do to Tsuna.'' Reborn demanded authoritatively, pressing the barrel even harder into Laudner's skull to show that it wasn't for show that he was the strongest acrobaleno.
''Hmm? Nothing, just messing around with his head a little bit. In case you guys don't remember, he's a half-vampire.'' Laudner looked pointedly behind the acrobaleno and a shock resembling electricity surged through the four as they flipped their head behind so fast, they could almost break it and barely missed the pummel of orange flames shot straight at them when they jumped out of its destructive path.
''Ahh… Maybe I shouldn't have said that.'' Laudner chuckled in a Machiavellian way, calmly watching the flames bounced off the shield casted on him.
''You!'' Colonello had never felt this livid and cranky, never since that time on the battlefield when Lal almost died because she was thrown into the enemy trap literally by the commander as a bait, a decoy, a toy. The commander was never able to walk the earth again from that day. It felt great knowing that, and now, at this moment, he could feel that long-lost anger boiling in a virulent concoction again, quick and rapid.
He could almost see the shadow of the commander behind Laudner, the one who treated his soldiers as mere toys.
Almost.
''Bastard!'' Colonello aimed a futile shot at Laudner who almost cackled when the attack bounced off the flame shield.
''Don't waste your energy hitting him!'' Aria shouted and tried a shot of her gun at Lauder, testing if the shield blocked physical attacks. Laudner dodged it.
''Why did he dodge it?''
''It was mere instincts.'' Laudner said with a wave of his hand.
'The barrier, could it be it doesn't block physical attacks?!' Reborn thought.
Aria thought the same and fire another few at Laudner with the precision of a deadly assassin.
But this time, Laudner didn't dodge.
The bullets were blocked and they fell to the ground weakly.
'Was it really instincts?'
''I don't know, Reborn. Why don't you tell me?'' Laudner smirked teasingly.
'Or is it on cooldown?'
Reborn barely managed to flimsily avoid another of Tsuna's attack who was kept at bay by Colonello and Verde with his inventions.
''Smart.'' And it confirmed Reborn's suspicion.
A rocket crackling alive with lightning was sent pummelling into the flame shield at torpedo speed and but to no avail.
''Gokudera, is it.'' Reborn said and shot a 'Chaos shot' at Laudner immediately. Laudner tumbled to the floor to avoid the attack and a wave of lotus flowers were sent to his way, but were blocked by the shield instantly.
''A cooldown timer of 0.02 seconds. Isn't that pretty cheat?'' Mukuro said, appearing majestically along with the other guardians.
''Juudaime!"' Gokudera shouted and ran to Tsuna.
''Stop!'' Yamamoto shouted, sensing the difference in Tsuna, which was blinded by Gokudera's loyalty.
Tsuna readied a ball of flames in his right hand, aiming straight at the figure running towards him.
''Hey stop!'' Colonello shouted desperately.
''Huh?'' Gokudera stopped.
The ball of flames was readied to be shot.
Gokudera turned back at the moment the ball of flames were going to be fired, halfway through with plunging his lit ring into the box.
'He will not make it!' Reborn thought with a pang.
Maybe it was his imagination. Or the work of the mind. Or the magic of the moment. Or some miracle. Or really it was what he was seeing.
For the smallest of the second, Reborn saw hesitation in Tsuna's movement, which gave barely ample time for Gokudera to open his box and use the equipments contained with to block off the flame.
Or maybe it was the work of the cement created from the combination of Mukuro and Chrome's illusions using Verde's equipment that slowed the attack.

''They are here already? I have better hurry up and let go of Marialie.'' Laudner hissed at Fon who was being gentle with the girl but the girl was sending a barrage of tiny weak fists at Fon.
Mammon and Skull appeared from behind the machine, but not without Lon standing there and holding the two acrobaleno like they were babies (Technically they are), Mammon lost consciousness and Skull flapping about like a bird caught in a trap.
''Tsuna, use the XX-Burner.'' Laudner ordered. ''Lon can protect the machine so I guess it will be fine.''
''Stop Tsuna! Don't you recognize us!'' Yamamoto shouted, the grip on his sword weakening and his fingers trembling.
''Sawada! Don't give up! You are not the type to give up so easily!'' Ryohei shouted out at Tsuna.
''Juudaime please…'' Gokudera whined, desperation taking over, having been shown that Tsuna so nearly killed him.
''Sawada Tsunayoshi, what happened to protecting everybody?'' Mukuro narrowed his eyes.
''Boss, please come back to us…'' Chrome beseeched, hands reaching out to Tsuna.
''Herbivore, if you don't come back to your senses, I'm going to beat it out of you.''
''Tsuna! I still want to play with you.'' Lambo whined, tears full of unspoken emotions spilling out, the tears that nobody dared to leak out in fear of exposing their fear. The fear of losing Tsuna, forever.
''Operation… XX.'' Tsuna mumbled out, and crossed his two arms forward.
''TSUNA!'' Everybody shouted, Lon watching on while making sure the flame barrier was sufficient enough to defend against the full force of the X-Burner, Marialie still struggling with Fon and Laudner indifferent as he typed away furiously on the keyboard to the machine.
''Baka Tsuna! Don't let yourself be controlled so easily!'' Reborn spit out and turned to glare venomously at Laudner who felt it and gave a shrug as a muted response.
''Die.'' Tsuna said from the back of his throat.

Ahaha…. This cliffhanger is important for what is going to happen next, so I have to put it there. Like some annoying fly on a cake. Yep.
