This is a G27 story, rating is T for now, but may rise accordingly to the story progress.

Chapter 19 : Emotions

Reader's POV

(Author's Notes: Whatever is happening now is between the second last line up till the last line of the previous chapter)

''Baka Tsuna! Don't let yourself be controlled so easily!'' Reborn spit out and turned to glare venomously at Laudner who felt it and gave a shrug as a muted response.

Flashback

''Gokudera, I don't know if this is a good time to mention this, but what if one day, Tsuna would to become our enemy?'' Reborn asked while sipping a long draught from his coffee cup.

''No way! Juudaime will never become our enemy!'' Gokudera waved it off, brimming with confidence and pure faith in the one person he trusts the most in the world. It will never occur to him that one day, that one person would stand on the opposite side of him, a gun pressed to his head. From the moment he pledged loyalty, his life belonged to him.

''Really?''

o0o

''Why such a flashback at this point of time?'' Gokudera whimpered piteously as he struggled to fight against the tears building in his eyes, looking at the rapid build-up of flames that they can never avoid in this cramped room against the wide-spread destruction that had seen that attack did once. His hands travelled up to entangle itself in his silvery white hair, grabbing at the hair and wanting to tug them out of their roots to ease some of the pain he felt. ''Juudaime…''

''Tch…'' Reborn jumped up to the top of the room where the light was, all the way fixing a look that spoke all too well what he felt deep inside. Anger.

''You people!'' Reborn shouted out in a desperado wake-up speech while aiming a chaos shot at Tsuna which hit perfectly at the joints of the arms, the attack soon falling in speed but still continuing. He caught everyone's attention.

''Aren't you all Mafioso! How many people have died at the hands of yours? Just because of one single person, that you want to meet your end so early?! Even if it's someone you trust with your life! Do you want to let others die because you didn't want to lose this one person! Do you want that bastard to succeed in his plan because he succeeded in using Sawada Tsunayoshi at us! Don't be so soft! Idiots!''

Reborn said his full name. Purposefully.

''There it is again, the one speech which can turn the table around in a seemingly desperate situation.'' Mukuro mused, his hands instinctively reaching for the Mist earrings hung from his ear lobe.

''But… Reborn-san...'' Gokudera couldn't control his tear glands from hitting their over rebellious stage and let the fountain flowed from his eyes. ''I can't… I had rather Juudaime kill me than I do…''

''Is that so? Then you don't deserve to be a Mafioso, much less being the Vongola Tenth's right hand man.'' Reborn chastised coldly.

Gokudera took a sharp intake of breath and hic at that. With trembling fingers, he held up the bombs he had only used against enemies…

And now, the one person he trusted the most would have to face this technique.

''Rocket Bomb…. Version X'' Gokudera declared with a shaking voice packed full of his emotions. Hesitation was still evident.

''Gokudera,'' Reborn's voice softened slightly from its ceramic hard quality it held before. ''I'm sure Tsuna would rather bear the burden of betrayal than his friends. Do you want to save him, or yourself?''

''Boss!'' Chrome cried out, the tears tracks still shining on her cheeks, readying the trident she hold close to her heart.

''Chrome, don't be sad.'' Mukuro rest his hand on Chrome's shoulders, and somehow, instinctively, she knew what she had to do. Genju Mugaia.

''Fight.''

The Vongola X guardians found resolve in Reborn's speech, and their faith in Tsuna. If they truly want to save Tsuna, they have to show it through their resolve to fight against even him, even if it means carrying the heavy guilt burden on their back till hell's gate.

Carrying the deadly weapons in their hands and gritted teeth and held back tears (Maybe except Hibari and Mukuro), they stood firm in their footing before Tsuna.

The acrobalenos were no exceptions, but the tears were not of faith, but of gratitude. It was, after all, him who was the salvation to the curse they were forced to bore because of their strength.

Laudner watched on silently, holding on to Marialie tightly and Lon standing behind him, exhausting his final last flames to maintain the shield.

That moment, at the very last second, Laudner saw a vision, of someone standing behind Tsuna's empty controlled vessel. A tall woman with brilliant capri blue eyes, deep sea hair flowing softly in the air, wearing a plain one-piece white dress. One could almost say an angel had descended to the earth as she gently held Tsuna's chin in her slender arms, a serene and peaceful expression on her face. But the woman looked too translucent to be one.

''Sepira?''

Sepira looked at Laudner with an unreadable expression, shaking her head slightly. Stunned, Laudner's hands moved on their own, reaching out to the translucent figure. Sepira smiled slightly before fading away as suddenly as she appeared.

''No! Sepira!'' Laudner called out, voice thick with grief, hands reaching out to grab nothing but air.

''Uncle?'' Marialie asked curiously when she felt something wet on her forehead, looking up to tug at her uncle's shirt. ''Why are you crying?''

''Huh?'' Laudner reached up to tap at his moist eyes. ''I was?''

The Acrobalenos and Vongola Guardians, their movements swift and purposeful charging forward with a roar of valiant courage the moment the XX Burner finished charging up.

o0o

They were in a vast white space where the ends of it could not be seen at all.

''Hey, Tsuna.'' A voice called out to the teen kneeling on the floor, hands held behind his back with a thick chain, the ankles secured with a similar chain as well.

Tsuna spun around and saw that one person with citrine eyes, looking like the sun and the stars mixed together in a pleasant combination.

''Giotto… I…'' Words could not describe how he felt inside. He saw the fears inscribed into each of the Primo guardians, he wanted to reach out to them, hold them in his arms, and give the warmth they desperately seek in the cold of standing in their fear stark naked. But he could never move no matter how he shouted, fought, pray, begged, cried for his body to move. ''I'm sorry…'' A budge had secured itself inside his throat, making him unable to breathe and talk, and it was excruciating painful and uncomfortable. The chains felt far too heavy and his body felt far too weak to fight.

Giotto bent down, supporting himself on a knee.

''Tsuna, look up at me.'' Giotto commanded gently and lifted Tsuna's head a little from his hardcore mission to burn two holes in the ground. Reluctantly, Tsuna's large fireopal eyes to meet Giotto's golden eyes.

Tsuna could still see the blood stains on Giotto's face and the smears on his clothes and the bloody marks where the people he had killed had grabbed onto him mercilessly. A long laceration on Giotto's neck could be seen where his own foster father had created when he went berserk, winding around the base of his neck all the way to the shoulder blade. It was an unnatural cut due to the fact that Giotto was struggling desperately and his foster father was out of it too much to really make out where he was trying to stab. Giotto had always hid that ugly mark under the safety veil of clothing, refusing to show it to anyone other than G, though that was by accident but it wasn't an issue. The other handful would be Laudner and Tsuna who had seen all of his fears, and suddenly he felt too exposed, like all his dark secrets had been exposed to the entire world.

Tsuna traced the ridges of the scar tissues which had healed and melted slightly into the rest of his skin over the years in a trance-like manner, snapping out of it only when Giotto bent his head lower to press his own lips against Tsuna's soft ones. A soft, fluttering kiss that felt like a butterfly landing gently on Tsuna's lips instead.

Giotto pulled away after a second, chuckling lightly at Tsuna's stunned blushing expression.

''You don't have to blame yourself for everything, you know. Even though you're the sky that embraced everything, you're not by yourself. You still have your family, your friends, anyone really who cared about you. You can't be the sky without all the elements that make up who you are. You don't have to change, just be yourself.''

And suddenly, Tsuna didn't felt like the chains were so heavy anymore, they felt like they were made out of paper instead of metal.

''Don't make the same mistake as I did.'' Giotto finished and pulled Tsuna into a bear hug, to which a lone tear managed to escape from Tsuna's eyes and dripped onto Giotto's bloody shirt.

''Giotto…''

''Don't forget, I love you.'' Giotto whispered into Tsuna's ear and gave a faint little smile, though Tsuna couldn't see it and hugged his fragile frame closer.

Tsuna felt the restraint breaking and he felt like he could spread those wings once again.

o0o

''Ev…er….y…one…'' A soft voice uttered out. Everyone froze. Tears started to drip and fall like the beginning of a rain which evaporated into the grandly burning sky flames, inching towards the machine where the frozen figures were held, at where Laudner was sitting without a clue of why the moisture was dripping onto his hand.

''Die.'' Tsuna said from the back of his throat.

And a burst of bright orange light erupted and enveloped everyone's vision.

o0o

Tsuna opened his eyes at long last, seeing another white space around him again and another person as well sitting down, stroking affably the dark blue hair of Sepira who was lying on the floor with her head rested on his thighs.

''You won.'' Laudner said, followed by a low chuckle without even looking Tsuna in the eye.

''No I didn't really I didn't manage to save everyone. I didn't manage to save you.'' Tsuna replied earnestly with a heavy emphasis on the last word.

''You don't have to, really. You don't have to save your enemy who used you and controlled you and made you fight against your comrades.''

''But it's not like you did it not for a reason. You just wanted to be recognized, to be saved didn't you?'' Tsuna said whatever was on his mind at that moment.

''Up until my final moment, I still don't really know really.'' Laudner said, somehow sounding more like a child.

''You envied Giotto didn't you? You wanted to be like him, you wanted power so to be saved. You wanted to be loved, just like Giotto even though he had such a dark childhood, he still had people he trusted, and you wanted to believe in people just like he did. Just like Sepira-san did in you and loved you.''

Laudner looked up and regarded Tsuna's words for a moment before a genuine smile spread across his face.

''If it's you, then surely, that might be the truth.'' Laudner finished just as the light grew brighter.

o0o

Moments of silence and blindness pass between the different sides that regarded Tsuna, everyone bracing themselves for what they would see once the smoke cleared up.

The place was a total wreck, looking like it was ravaged by an earthquake, a tsunami and typhoon all at one go, the ruins of the huge building was nearly a flat land with large chunks of cement lying haphazardly everywhere, the trees directly in the path of collision with the XX Burner were all burnt to a bony crisp with hardy any remains. The radius of the destructive impact was large enough to cost the Vongola half of their fortune to fix the mess, but nobody could be even bothered to care about that kind of thing. The Vongola's fortune is like a waterfall, the water can keep on flowing rapidly but it will not end.

What they saw in the start of the impact where the burns on the environment are the lightest was Tsuna lying on the floor face flat down on the cracked ground, while no trace of Laudner and the other two around him were seen.

''TSUNA!'' Everyone shouted before rushing forward to the fallen figure.

''Juudaime?'' Gokudera asked, where Tsuna didn't move a single inch. ''Did…he?'' Gokudera whispered, afraid to believe what he was seeing, not wanting to believe in it, not one bit. This wasn't going to be like this…

''He's… not breathing.'' Yamamoto raised a finger to Tsuna's nose gingerly before choking out the dreaded words.

(Author's Notes: Half-vampires can be killed by Dying Will Flames mentioned in the older chapters but their bodies will not turn to ashes like full vampires, so Tsuna still preserved his entire body.)

''No… It can't be… No…'' Gokudera broke down, hands covering his eyes, feeling for the second time that he couldn't save Tsuna once again, be it the future or the present.

''No way…'' Chrome covered her agape mouth with her hands, shock and sadness both in her voice.

The resolve they undertook to fight against the fallen figure on the floor had disintegrated and what was left was just plain despair and regret. It was then did they realize what exactly did it meant to bear a resolve so strong; it will be like another sword to fight, an armour to protect one's faith, a skeleton to support one's sanity, to have no hesitation in fighting for one's belief.

''Tsuna?'' An unfamiliar deep voice ignited a sound of shock in the people surrounding Tsuna. Immediately, everyone's attention flipped to the owner of the voice and what laid there was what put everyone's thoughts running helter-skelter.

''Vongola Primo…'' Reborn acknowledged respectfully and took a little deep bow as far as his baby stature could allow without seeming too underestimated or too proud. The other acrobaleno also did the same. The Vongola guardians watched on catatonically while separating a clear path to Tsuna who was put up into a sitting position, head lolling backwards as though the bones in his neck had dissolved.

''We have to hurry up, before he's too far gone!'' G shouted, tumbling forward towards Tsuna and carrying him up in his arms. ''That brat, he really went to the extreme. Giotto, here.'' G lifted Tsuna into Giotto's hands.

''He wouldn't die for sure. He's the main character.'' Lampo noted nonchantly, hands behind his head and back bent lazily. G slapped him on the back of his head, muttering something along the lines of 'Don't be stupid'.

''Where's Tsuna's ring?!'' Giotto spoke in a crisp and rushed manner and swept a hurried gaze around looks twisted into shock and blankness.

''Around his neck.'' A masculine voice said and everyone turned behind.

''As I expected, this little Tsuna can't bear the thought to kill you again, even though it was almost like the second time.'' Giotto fixed a stern eye on the two white-haired lads standing side by side, looking almost similar but wielding different auras. Besides, one was cheerfully floating in the air with wings reminiscent of an angel, in clothes of tattered innocent white. The other was wearing darker, gloomier clothing, standing on the ground without wings.

''He's still as gullible as ever.'' Byakuran commented, a smirk evident on his face as he flew forward, which made everyone flinch but they knew better than to stop him from proceeding forward. He was no longer a threat as far as Tsuna was concerned.

''Has he always been that way?'' Laudner said, looking at his future self, while walking forward.

''Maybe?'' Byakuran replied in a sing song voice.

''If he didn't try to save me, he wouldn't have died.'' Laudner mumbled, left to rely only on his two feet to walk forward unlike his future self.

''That's Tsuna for you, putting others before himself.'' Knuckle nodded his head approvingly and punching a manly fist in the air.

''Please… Don't die.'' Giotto choked out the words he had hidden in his throat, in a low whisper that only his guardians surrounding him in a safe gap from the others could hear.' It was I, after all, who gave him the choice to die for others instead.''

His guardians didn't have much response other than a shrug on the shoulders. They knew of his feelings towards Tsuna, and it was understandable. They themselves had come to appreciate and think of the teen as already a part of their family since long ago. He was such a cute and adorable kid, eyes bright and shinning like nobody else did, a lovable personality and a gentle heart. And that was probably why Giotto fell for him hard. His heart which was battle-worn with scars is still innocent and caring.

''Ready?'' Giotto asked, to numerous nods. Satisfied, he activated the flame in the rings, brilliant and enormous amount of flames bursting and swaying curiously in the air. The seven coloured flames made the Primo family looked like they were caught in a giant swirl of rainbow, captivating the eyes of the people who stood at the side-lines.

''That's… Even more than what Hibari produced at the Merone base.'' Yamamoto said in awe. ''Though it was only one person.''

''Hmmph.'' Hibari merely folded his arms and retracted his trusty tonfas and turning away.

''Okay, let's go~'' The edges of Byakuan's lips curved upwards even more while Laudner just walked solemnly towards those that belonged to the same time frame as him.

''It seemed like Sepira left the last remainder of her life flame to Tsuna.'' Giotto said, pressing a palm to Tsuna's chest. ''But it wouldn't last long enough. We will have to bet enough on the wills contained with the ring and our flame, and half of my Life Flame in order to bring him back.'' Giotto signalled to condense the wildly burning flames into Tsuna's ring. ''Laudner, Byakuan, make sure the flame doesn't escape. Create a barrier of Sky Flames, you should know how right?''

''Of course.'' Byakuan replied confidently before holding his palms out and pressing them against an invisible wall of air, pushing out the maximum output of flame he and the ring could handle and then a vibe could be heard cracking in the air where Aria's pacifier glowed brightly along with his ring and Tsuna's ring.

''I can trust you, right?'' Giotto narrowed his eyes at Laudner who shrugged and did exactly what Byakuan was doing, but on the opposite side. The vibration the vibe caused in the air got even more deafening to the ear.

''I have to repay the favour.'' Laudner said simply, eyelids drooping to half, a lugubrious expression masking the many emotions secluded deep inside his heart.

''We can help!'' Yamamoto offered cheerfully, walking forward.

''That's right! We are Juudaime's guardians!'' Gokudera protested, raising a fist. He didn't want to feel helpless anymore when it came to Juudaime. Although the first time wasn't real, he still felt this overwhelming guilt eating at him from the inside when he realised that Tsuna was dead in the future. He was sent on a guilt trip before being pulled back from the path of deception and that all he was following was an illusion, a plan set up by Tsuna, Hibari and Irie.

Even if he was resolved to fight against Tsuna, but it was to help him. But this time, Tsuna died because they weren't strong enough, they didn't have enough capability to rescue him from the clutches of mind control. And that was how things were going to end.

Because they couldn't even protect the person who was like a guardian angel without wings to them.

No, Tsuna had wings of warm orange sky flames, the wings that envelop everything regardless of anything.

''No, this is better because I can synchronize with my guardian's flames better. If I were to mess up the synchronization rates, it would mean certain death and Sepira's life flame would… disappear.''

''I will not allow you to interfere.'' Laudner held a stubborn hand out, with an expression that's taunting that if anybody did, he would never let it rest.

''You bastard! First you try to kill us, and then you try to act all justice! What are you really trying to do!'' Gokudera roared out in an insinuate manner, panting slightly at the bulbous volume he was using.

''I… I don't have anything to say for myself, but all I can say is, if you don't trust me on this, the juudaime you so looked up to will not come back.''

Gokudera grated his teeth loudly and clenched his fists till they turned ashen white.

''Maa maa, calm down Gokudera.'' Yamamoto sprinkled invisible tranquil flames over Gokudera's seething anger and indeed felt the hot-headed teen cooling down.

Gokudera acquiesced in Yamamoto's calming aura and decision to trust Laudner, at least for now.

''Good.'' Laudner's hand relaxed slightly.

A faint orange barrier was soon erected and the Primo Guardians made quick work of concentrating the different attributes of the flames together, harmonized by the Sky Flame. Tsuna's body glow a forest green, a mysterious colour.

''That is proof of Sepira's Life Flame kept safe within Tsuna. It keeps his heart beating continuously even though he isn't breathing.'' Giotto explained.

The fusion of flame colours melted into one pool of tanzanite colour instead of the green, then slowly fused as a white opal colour, a crystal clear flame could be seen floating out from Tsuna's body surreally.

''Now for the final stage.'' Giotto looked behind him bashfully, face a little pinkish hue. ''Please?'' Giotto added as an afterthought.

G gave a short mirthless laughter at that, knowing full well what Giotto was about to do next, since only he had seen how Sepira brought a person back to life with half of her life flame once, though at the expense of sleeping in a coma for roughly 5 years to recover the life flame sliver by sliver. And who that person was exactly Giotto himself. Giotto only knew how it worked after asking Sepira about it after she woke up and from G. It isn't exactly easy to bring a person back to life, if the Life Flame isn't in place in the corpse within 13 seconds of the person's death, the soul will be brought beyond the Bridge of No Return with no hope, additionally with a 50% chance of failure. But if there were other flames factored in, preferably all seven attributes of the Sky, the chances of succeeding would be up to 75% because of the better balance.

''Why?'' The rest asked in complete unison.

''B-Because- J-Just do it or I will freeze all of you!'' Giotto nearly stuttered on every word as he held out his free gloved hand to indicate that he was serious about that last bit, eliciting a chain of reactions.

The crowd then shrugged and did what they were told to reluctantly. Vongola's strongest boss wasn't one to be messed with. Only G didn't.

''G.'' Giotto's voice trembled vehemently.

''It's not like I have never seen wor-''

Giotto hurled a punch straight to the center of G's stomach and G tottered backwards at the impact. ''Don't say more than what you need to.'' Giotto finished promptly and turned back.

''Tch.'' G rubbed his stomach, unpleased at why Giotto had to act all boss-like only at convenient timings.

One could really see the strong camaraderie the two shared just from such simple and spiteful conversations like these.

Giotto lifted Tsuna's head a little backwards so that it will be titled at just the perfect angle and then lowered his head slowly. He was so close he could see his long blond fringe tickling Tsuna's facial features. And then, for the second time, his lips landed on Tsuna's, this time longer and more forceful as he transferred the Life Flame. He could feel the immaculate teeth that Tsuna had and the warmness of his sweet cavern. Giotto resisted giving in to his feelings and not losing sight of his primal goal. If this goes well, Tsuna will come back to life, and… He will be sleeping for 5 years. It would be a small price to pay for a person's life.

And then… Tsuna would be older than him, wiser than him, and he will have moved on with life. Giotto would be but a fragment of his past, nothing more. He could only hold this bitter feeling in his heart as time could only widen the gap between him and Tsuna. Maybe, Tsuna would even forget him. It would be better for him too, they belonged to different worlds, the Past and the Future which were supposed to never meet no matter what.

And by having this feeling in his heart, he was going to bend that fragile rule and bordering on the thin line between the Past and Future, where the Present is.

He could see dark blotches in his peripheral vision and saw Tsuna's eyes slowly fluttered open like a butterfly spreading its wing for its maiden voyage.

But before the black-out happened, he could see worry cross Tsuna's look before he whispered out those words through his thin lips.

''I will never forget you.''

And somewhere in his heart, he could feel a selfish sense of relief.

It was the beautiful kismet that linked the Past and the Future together like two intertwined rings.

o0o

Yeeeaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~~~ I absolutely adore writing this kind of emotional chapter instead of a battle chapter hehe. I threw in G27 fluffs before I suddenly love fluff like hell (Probably because Ereri is so damn fluff fluff). This is kinda touching on angst already, but it's only going to get better, so don't worry! :D

I was hesitating on the line that Tsuna will say to Giotto before he sleep in a coma, wondering whether to put 'Giotto!' or 'I love you!' or 'Noo!' or something along those lines. But I decided on 'I will never forget you' because it wouldn't sound too dramatic, but emotional enough (I hope).

As always, I can never edit my own work properly, it's really hard to spot your own mistakes you see. So help me point out any if you see?

Enough said, goodbye for now :)

Khr1410, I'm sorry I'm a big bad wolf D: I wouldn't count this chapter ending as a cliffhanger this time lol

SkyTuna7227, *Brofist* I think I edited that part already, if my old pair of eyes didn't fail me hehe.

NorikoTora, more will be served boss. That XX Burner is so damn destructive. I'm hoping that I can wrap this fic up as soon as possible because school's starting soon again :X Since I really had the mood to write, I doubt I will.

Tsuna16, one day is kinda too much for me I'm sorry D: Thanks for liking it as always~

Tsuna, oh god I'm being called evil again XD It can get addictive you know. Thanks!

KiraLoveless, Yes I feel like I can't deny you of the curiosity to know more! And you shall sink deeper into the trap lead by natural curiosity! Muhahahahhaha. Prepare yourself.
