A few days had passed without anything out of the ordinary occurring. Murphy continued to get close to his classmates, Henry especially. He excelled at his subjects and was (thankfully) not given as much homework as his old school. Not even that Walter kid had given him any trouble. With the exception of the cafeteria food, school life was going pretty well for Murphy.
Then finally, it was Friday. The greatest day of the week known to students. Murphy and his friends were in their final period class, Pre-Calc, and all of them were itching for the final bell to ring. Henry and Murphy were exchanging notes once more (that had quickly become a thing) while James was writing in his notebook. Murphy sighed and checked the clock while he waited for Henry to respond. 20 minutes left of class. He decided to engage in a little conversation with James while he waited (Henry took forever to reply to their notes).
"So James, what plans do you have for this weekend?" Murphy asked. During the week he had really come to like his classmates, so he was thinking of maybe hanging out with them this weekend.
"James has a hot date with the Shepherd sisters, don't you James?" A voice called from behind them.
Murphy turned to see a boy sitting a couple of seats behind them. He had longish black hair and was smiling. Despite being at Midwich High for an entire five days Murphy had failed to see that this guy was in class with them… in fact he didn't know anybody else in the class except Henry, James, and the three dorks (as he had come to secretly call them).
"Vincent! No, I don't. You know I don't like Maria, and Mary… Well, she's too sweet for me. I could never date her!" James insisted, his ears turning red from blushing.
"Aw, whatever, Sunderland! I know what you get up to late at night, hugging a pillow close to you-"
Whatever Vincent was going to say next was cut off by James smacking his arm with his pre-Cal book. "No! Jeez, Vincent, you never stop, do you? I don't like either of the Shepherd sisters like that."
Murphy's interest had peaked by now and he couldn't help but ask. "So then who are you checking, James?"
James froze, a light blush forming across his cheeks. This caused Vincent to laugh at his poor friend's embarrassment, and Henry wasn't paying any attention. "I don't like anybody, okay? Besides, I'm too busy with my storyboards to focus on dating." Thus the conversation ended. James went back to his notebooks and Vincent started playing on his IPhone.
The topic of dating made Murphy think about his love-life-well, lack of, really. He wasn't too much into the dating scene at his old school, but he was hoping to find someone nice here. Maybe someone nice, down-to-earth, hopefully brunette. Heather was pretty, but she had a spunky side that Murphy was sure would ensure that he would never win an argument. He was told to steer clear of Cynthia, and honestly… he didn't really talk to any other girls. Henry's friend Eileen was cool, but she had that rabbit doll keychain that kind of freaked him out. 'I should probably mingle with more girls. I can't just hang out with the guys all the time' Murphy thought.
Now that he thought about it, he had never really had a crush before. The girls at his old town were either really old-fashioned, really judgmental, or really boring. Too many of the guys made a big deal out of dating, and that sort of put Murphy off the dating scene. Not that he had much time on it. There was this one girl, but then she started to talk way too much about her feet and Murphy was creeped out by that. Luckily he had moved soon afterwards and didn't have to endure any more weird dates.
His musings were interrupted by a paper hitting his forehead. Glancing down, he realized it was the note- Henry had finally finished writing it. He didn't even remember what they had been talking about. Had it been about girls? He couldn't recall. Opening the note up, Murphy was vaguely aware that Walter was watching him, but he really couldn't care. He didn't do anything to them, yet he felt that they really disliked him.
Just as he was about to start reading, a harsh shrill cut through the air and caused a majority of the students to yell in fright, Murphy included. The siren played as their teacher shouted, "Tornado drill! Into the bathrooms!" all of the students proceeded to enter into the nearest girl's bathroom and got in position. It had been a couple of years for Murphy when it came to school tornado drills, so he was a bit shocked. The class was quiet for the most part, and before they knew it the principal came on the intercom to announce that the drill was over. Two minutes later, everyone was sitting back in the classroom, gathering up their items and getting ready for the final bell. Finally, the weekend.
When it finally did ring, the boys quickly began to walk out of school like they did every day. Conversing and making plans for the weekend, Murphy and Henry both completely about forgot one important thing. Murphy had left the note siting innocently on his desk- only to be picked up by one Walter Sullivan.
I AM SO SORRY. NO WORDS CAN BE SAID TO EXPLAIN HOW SORRY I AM!
I'm a horrible person for letting this chapter go unwritten for so long… and even now, It's really short . Well, here's my excuse- a few days after I posted the last chapter, I left my town to go to HAWAII! I visited my sister and her family for a few weeks. It was so amazing, and I loved on my little nephew with hugs and kisses like there was no tomorrow. The land was gorgeous, and the ocean- oh, the magnificent ocean. It was simply wonderful. After I returned from my trip, a few days later was SAN JAPAN! The annual anime, Japanese culture and geek fandom convention located in San Antonio. It was so much fun! I've been going to that con for a long time, and it was by far the best one I've attended. It was so cool! If you were there, did you see me? I was dressed up as Italy from Hetalia on Friday, Schoolgirl!Miku on Saturday, and I was wearing a ginger colored wig and a pink shirt with a black skirt on Sunday. I went with my best friend as well, and it was just so fun! :D
Shortly after that, school started. Senior year! Which means tons and tons of work. I'm in primarily all AP/Dual Enrollment classes, so that's tons to do. Plus I'm applying for colleges and scholarships. But I promise that this will continue on! I'm hoping to do lots in the week before school starts each day, then use my Friday evenings after dance class to wrap up the chapter and post. Please send me encouraging words on my tumblr! Same url as my username. Thanks a bunch for sticking with me, and for the favs, follows, and reviews! Love you all, my awesome readers!
