Chapter 1

Bluekit's Adventure

Bluekit's POV

The warm aroma of milk surrounds me. I open my eyes to see Glintfur staring at me.

"Mama!" I nuzzle Glintfur's cheek. Her soft fur comforts me. Glintfur smiles.

"Good Morning, my dear Bluekit." I smile up at her. I look at the entrance of the bush. I always looked at it, wondering what was on the other side. I take a step forward but hesitate. Mama told me I can't go out there until I'm bigger. I remember. But...that was a few days ago! I look behind me and see gray fluffy fur. Am I bigger? My eyes get the better of me and move my legs to the entrance. I squeeze under the bush's edge and gasp. It was so big. How could I ever explore it all? My legs, still weak and wobbly, moved me towards a big pile of different colors. I sniffed it. Some fur tickled my nose. They must be more friends! Buy how do I get them all down? Some are bigger than me!

I clamp my teeth onto a small one. I sit down next to it. I prod it and scan it's body. Nothing. "Come on, friend." I start moving towards the bush, but friend doesn't follow! I growl softly and clamp my teeth onto it. I pulled friend forward a step, but friend fell onto me. I squeal and batt at friend.

After a while of playing with friend I sat down next to it. "Friend's nice." I begin to wash friend's body. I try to mimic my mother. "Oh friend, you are so dusty!" I smile at friend. Soon I curl up with friend, our belly's facing each other's.

When I awake friend is being lifted off the ground! I wrap my paws around friend. "Stop it friend!" I command. Suddenly my paws slip from friend's body. A big cat had taken friend to the tree. I squeal with joy and happily wobble after friend. The big cat must want to play with friend too! When I reach friend I lick it's face. The big cat looks disgusted.

"Yuck!" The big cat pulls friend away from me. I wobble forward and nuzzle friend. I batt at friend. The big cat grunts and pulls friend away from me. When I finally reach friend again the big cat rips friend's head off!

"FRIEND!" I cry. Tears stream down my face. "YOU KILLED FRIEND!" I wailed and screamed and kicked at anybody that came close. I kept on screaming until my throat hurt. I felt a paw on my shoulder. I cried. "FRIENDDDDD!" When I opened my eyes I saw Glintfur. She had a sympathetic look on her face. She licked my head.

"Bluekit, friend is in Starclan now."

"But I want him here!"

"I know my dear. But friend is in a better place now."

"Really?"
"Of course."

I sniffle and stand up. I leaned against Glintfur on the way back to the nursery.
