Chapter 2
The Phantom King
Bakura's P.O.V
"Ash," Bakura started. "Do you know why you were unconsious?"
"No," he said. "But I think I have a good idea why."
Suddenly, Ash grunted in pain. His hands were on his forehead, covering his eyes as well. His 'headache' was back. Yugi grabbed ash by his shoulder. "You need an asprin?" he asked. Pharoah, your explaining this to him later! Ash only nodded. Bakura could tell this headache was worse than the last one.
Yugi laid the hat beside Ash, ran out of the room, and shut the door. Ash had now curled himself into a ball, knees on his forehead.
'Bakura,' Ryou asked him. 'Is Ash gonna be ok?'
'I...' Bakura started, but his thought was interrupted. That presence was back. It felt stronger than it had been a few minutes ago. Was it going to try to take Ash over now? That's when Bakura noticed something; Ash had started to glow a purple-ish black.
'Ryou?' Bakura asked his light. Oh wait... sorry... 'landlord'.
'Y-yeah?' Ryou sounded shakey. Yep, he noticed too.
"I don't think that's Ash anymore.'
'Ash' had 'unballed' himself,(AN: I've always wanted to say that!), and was now sneering. Bakura couldn't see his eyes due to Ash's messy hair... wait. Wasn't it neat a second ago? Bakura had a good feeling those weren't Ash's eyes under his bangs.
"So, what did he call you again?" 'Ash' asked Bakura. His voice was way different from before. It sounded older, much older. It also sounded like it hadn't been used for a while.
"Ryou... Bakura right?" he asked again.
"Right..." Bakura replied. He decided he was going to try to have a conversation with whatever had gotten into this kid. "And who are you? I didn't seem to get your name."
'Ash' turned his head to Bakura, no longer sneering. Bakura could now see his eyes. They were almost like his now, except his were a pure black. 'Were the heck are his pupils?' Bakura thought to himself.
"Seriously?" 'Ash' asked him. He looked like someone told him a bad joke. "Seriously! I knew he was stubborn, but-" He was now cursing in a ancient language Bakura couldn't understand. He only things he understood were 'Arceus', 'possession', and the name Brandon.
'Bakura... is he ok?' Ryou asked.
'I have no idea...' Bakura replied. 'But for some reason this amuses me.'
'Ash' had stopped his rant and was now glareing at Bakura. "He seriously didn't tell you my name? Personally, I'm kind of hurt. I'm the King of Pokelantis."
'Everyone's a king.' Ryou joked. He kind of had a point. Bakura was the Thief King. Yugi had the Pharoah. And he was pretty sure in the elder Kaiba's imagination, Seto was ruler.
"Well, that's kind of a mouthful isn't it?" Bakura told the possessed boy. "You don't have an actual name?"
The King gave him a death glare. "I'll tell you as soon as I remember it." he muttered. Ah. The Pharoah's mortal enemy, amnesia.
'Maybe you can give him a nickname later, Ryou.' Bakura told his other half.
"So... what was that language you were speaking?" Bakura asked the King.
"... Pokelantian." He responded. This was really akward. Bakura picked up the backpack Yugi had sat beside the bed a few minutes earlier. He sat it in the King's lap.
"..."
"..."
"... Who's backpack is this?" That question had Bakura by the possessed boy's side in five seconds.
"What? Doesn't it belong to Ash?" Bakura asked him.
"No. Ash's backpack is green." the King told him. "And actually looks like it belongs to a 11 year-old."
Bakura zipped open the backpack and peeked inside. "Hm." "What?" the King asked him. Bakura pulled out a small brown book. "Someone likes to keep a journal."
The King took the book from his hand and began to flip through it. "Correction; Someone likes to code their journal."
As Bakura was searching the backpack, the King was attempting to read the journal. It was all silence until; "Hey! I can read this sentence! ... What does 'Get Tucker out of the closet' mean?" (AN: *insert spit take here* ... Mariland! Did you write this?) Bakura would have fell over laughing if he hadn't felt a smooth sphere. Being a master thief, Bakura's first thought was 'pearl' and pulled the sphere out.
To his thief instinct's disappointment, it wasn't a pearl. It was a stone orb with a blackish- purple sapphire in the center. There was writing around the diameter. The King looked up from the journal... and almost fell off the bed in terror.
"B-Bakura," the King stuttered, saying Bakura's name for the first time. (AN: After reviewing the episode, I think this is the first time he's said a human's name besides his own.) "was that ... thing in the backpack?"
"Yeah." Bakura responded. What was this feeling suddenly coming over him?
"G-great. I know who owns this backpack." the King muttered.
"Who?" Bakura asked him. Now he knew. He felt like protecting the King. Why did he feel like protecting him?
"... The Pyramid King, Brandon."
...
Oh snap! Brandon's here too! Tell me, do you want me to ship the King of Pokelantis with Bakura? Cause I've had the idea in my head for quite a while now. Also, how do you feel about me writing a fanfiction about the Hoenn Battle Frontier Brains, but in college? Just want your opinion on that. Well, Tagan out!
