A Modern Fairytale

Chapter 3

The laughter of a young child no different than the tinkling of a bell rang through the air. Suddenly the front door was flung open and a young girl at about the age of four ran into the room, moving at a rate that could rival a demon's speed. Ms. Higurashi was given no time to react as the girl barreled into her. It was clear that she was accustomed to being the focus of her mother's attention. InuTaisho locked his fingers together as if in prayer to some unknown god, his eyes sparkled in awe. He watched the interaction between the little girl and Ms. Higurashi, wondering how a child so beautiful could exist. Sesshomaru clearly not impressed looked to his father, seeing the look in his eyes he then snorted.

Barely seeming to begin to notice them, or perhaps she had just been ignoring them all along the young girl turned her head to glance at them for the first time, much like Sesshomaru nothing she saw seemed to impress her. Looking back to her mother, she pointed to them on the couch. "Who's that?"

"Kagome, you shouldn't point or talk about people in front of them. It's very rude," Ms. Higurashi scolded. Kagome furrowed her brow in silent question and her mother sighed, "This is your father's very important friend and his son Sesshomaru, they came to visit us." She then began to herd Kagome towards them, "Why don't you introduce yourself?" Kagome once again turned her head to look up at her mother, expression clearly showing she did not wish to cooperate but seeing as she had no choice…

Now as she stood in front of them she bowed her head seeming to prepare herself for some unknown task. InuTaisho waited in eager anticipation, it was almost as if he had two personalities. Usually he would be his composed, respectable self but all that respectability boiled away to nothing once he was in the presence of a young child. Especially if that particular child was quite adorable if he so said so himself. Kagome took in a deep breath, InuTaisho nodded eagerly as if telling her to continue. Sesshomaru raised an elegant brow. Boredom was evident.

Perhaps father should have brought the hanyou,

"Hi," and then without not even another glance she then plopped down on the couch next to Sesshomaru. InuTaisho seemed to have turned to stone, as Kagome rocked her legs back and forth seeming to already have drifted off into lala land. No longer paying any attention to either demon, she began to hum a little tune to herself. Ms. Higurashi bore an expression of horror; she held her hands to her chest. Close to fainting she asked herself how her daughter had become so, so, she couldn't bear to say it. Impolite. There was cracking noise as InuTaisho's world began to shatter. He was after all rather melodramatic at times. Sesshomaru would have laughed had it been in his nature to do so, but it was not. Although he would admit that the child seemed to show the potential for being quite entertaining.

It seems this encounter had not all been for naught.

AN: Well, I'm back. And seriously you guys I would like to hear some type of feedback from you. I feel a little bad saying this but getting a new follow and no review is a little depressing. Even some flames would be permitted! All I ever hear is nothing and I hope that will change soon. See you guys later! I hope you liked this update.
