Jane and Darcy had been rather displeased to find him outside in the rain and he had been ushered into the shower quite firmly between the two of them. The shower was another intriguing invention these Midgardians had, even if it was definitely meant for Jane-sized people and not Thor-sized ones. The pound of the water, hot now, was soothing and Thor wondered how long he could stay under the spray until Darcy would yell at him for using all the hot water. Not that long it seemed, as when he had just warmed up, Darcy was knocking on the door already, and Thor carefully exited the shower.

Thor was, he had since realised, too large for the world he now lived in. He barely fit inside Winnie and his feet would always stick out over the mattress. He also broke things without realising it and many people turned their heads and watched as he walked by, it was a different kind of looking than what he was used to on Asgard and it made Thor somewhat uncomfortable.

He puts on the clothes Jane got for him. They don't quite fit right and they are not at all what he is used to, but they do well enough. Once dressed he exits the bathing room sideways, as he does not fit through the door the normal way, and is met with Jane and Darcy, the latter of whom skitters past him to shower herself. Jane regards him with worried eyes.

"Are you all right?" She asks and Thor considers her question. He does not want to complain, last of all to Jane, but he can hardly consider himself 'all right'.

"Nay, I fear I am quite homesick." He tells a half-truth and is saddened some more when he thinks of Loki when doing so.

"Oh." Jane says, sounding relieved. "I'm sorry. I wish I could help you with that. Can I, can I do something?" She asks, genuinely concerned.

"Do not concern yourself Lady Jane. It is hardly your doing and it will pass soon enough." Thor claims. He hopes he is right.

"Its just.." Jane pauses, searching through the small cabinets for food. "I feel guilty for assuming you would just like to come with me. Us! Me and Darcy, us." Jane blushes and studiously slices tomatoes and cheese. "I mean, Erik is right, if you want to leave… you, you can, you know." Jane does not look at him and Thor stills. Unhappy as he is, he cannot imagine being completely alone in this world.

"Do you wish me gone, Lady Jane?" He carefully asks. She is full within her rights to show him the door, but he is afraid she will.

"No!" Jane exclaims, quickly turning around. "No, not at all, I, I like you. Being here." Jane stammers.

"I like being here as well." Thor says and somehow it's the truth. The press of magic is back and it swirls around them so obviously even Jane seems to notice. He searches her face and wonders if he can ask. Jane looks back, but suddenly surges forward on the tips of her toes and pulls him downwards. Her lips press on his and he breathes in Jane. He is surprised, but aware enough to react, he moves his lips against hers and Jane lightly touches her tongue against him. He moans.

Jane moves her hand under his shirt, lightly stroking the skin above his hip and Thor cannot stop himself from lifting her up onto the counter. Jane doesn't mind at all and deepens the kiss on a whimper. She presses her small body against his and Thor has to close his eyes and steel his spine. Oh Gods, this is where he belongs. This is where he needs to be. This woman, this feeling, this is worth everything so far. The magic swirls ecstatically around them and the thunder outside rolls like laughter.

Thor's hands wander and he is glad Jane's do as well. He cups a breast and moves to kiss her neck. Jane sighs his name, moans and wriggles. Gods help him. They breathe magic and electricity skitters from the one to the other. Magic sparks and fate is coursing through his veins. He pulls her closer and closer still and is just about to request permission to take off Jane's clothes.

"Oh! Okay, shit, bye!" Darcy's voice rings out and the door of the bathing room slams closed once more. Thor pulls back, though it takes some effort, and burns brightly with embarrassment. Jane scoots off the counter and looks up at him with pupils still blown wide with arousal. Jane takes a shuddering breath and smiles awkwardly. Darcy can be heard giggling from the bathroom.

"Three, four days and we will be at the observatory." Jane says. "Four days, tops and I we will have some actual privacy." It is a promise of good things to come and Thor has to close his eyes to gather himself. Jane gives him a quick peck on the lips before calling out to Darcy that she can come out.

…..

True to her words, on the fourth day around mid-afternoon they arrive at their destination. It is in the middle of the wood, quite far away from the nearest town and it allows Thor the breath more easily. The last few days had been less painful than the previous ones.

After that morning in which Thor had nearly ravished Jane in the kitchen, which he could not think about without growing hot with both lust and embarrassment, Darcy had then presented with a driver's license and a passport, both proclaiming him to be 'Donald Thor Blake', the 'MD' had disappeared.

Jane and Darcy had had hushed but heated conversation about that. Jane seemed to disagree with Darcy about giving him the card and little booklet. But in the end Darcy had won. Thor, not really suited for covert listening in on people, had not been able to really understand the issue, but after Darcy had told him he could drive her car, he hadn't pressed the issue.

Driving himself had made the trip much more enjoyable to him. There had been some issues, as the vehicle seemed to have been built for people more gentle than him, but he had gotten the hang of it after a while. When Darcy had felt secure, she had been quite content to listen to music (and she had ensured him it was music, though it was completely unfamiliar to him) and snooze in the seat next to him while he zoomed after Winnie with something that bordered on glee.

The place, not quite Sheet Harbour, were they would be staying consisted of two cabins, one of which was occupied by two middle-aged men who introduced themselves as 'Park Ranger', tasked with the protection and upkeep of the forest they lived in. It was work Thor both understood and respected.

There was the observatory, a large hall built on stilts, so high they could look out over the trees, and made with glass walls and a glass roof. Jane had been so pleased at is she was nearly vibrating.

There was also a barn in which no animals were kept, but instead a large collection of machinery Thor had no knowledge of and something called a 'truck', but which Darcy proclaimed to be a 'rust-bucket'.

The cabin meant for them had two bedrooms with actual walls and a loft. Jane had offered him the loft, but Thor, though he was grateful for everything she had done for him so far, had asked if they would mind if he stayed inside Winnie. They had Darcy's vehicle to bring them to town and they would not be using it. Jane had been surprised, but Darcy had said 'let him have his man-cave' and Jane had shrugged and agreed.

Winnie did not remind Thor of a cave, nor did he see what was particularly masculine about it, but he was quite happy to have his own space. It was nothing compared to his chambers in the palace, but it was now just his own.

...

Later, dinner had been had with Darcy and Jane, but also Rick and Joe the Rangers. They had roasted meat on sticks outside over a campfire and shared bottles of ale while Joe spoke of the forest; it was familiar and comforting to Thor. He had missed being around people. Not that Jane and Darcy were not people, but they were only two. He missed groups of people. After, he had then been able to withdraw inside Winnie and be at peace. Thor felt happier than he had in some time.

Around midnight someone knocked on the door. It was Jane, and for a moment Thor hoped she was there to invite him into her bed. She was not, unfortunately, but her presence was enjoyable enough.

"Come, come see." Jane urged. She grabbed his hand and he let himself be pulled after her up to the observatory. Once there Jane made him stand in the middle of the room and turned out off the lights. Thor blinked, for a moment everything was pitch black dark, then small pins of light appeared. After a few blinks, it was like he had been swallowed whole by the depth of space. It was rather disconcerting.

Asgard had two moons, both of which were larger than Earth's, and they gave off much more light. Even at night, there was no darkness such as there was here.

"Isn't it amazing?" Jane breaths while walking up to him. He could see her outline and the shine of her eyes, but not much else. "This is better than the desert." Jane sighs happily and leans back into him, he takes this as permission to wrap his arms around her and leans his chin gently on her head. "It's almost like flying."

The glass on all sides, as well as their height above the trees, indeed makes it seem as if they are airborne. Thor wonders if he should tell her he could fly. Or, once had been able to anyway. He decids against it, he doesn`t want to think about what he doesn't have right now. Jane lets out another happy sigh and snuggles closer.

He tries to see through her eyes and suddenly it is like he does. The magical force seema as content as Jane and Thor gets to share in her wonder. The universe is immense and beautiful and it surrounds them. For a moment it is as if the whole of space pulses around them. Jane and Thor, just the two of them and it is enough. They breath stars and exhale nebulae and in that moment, they are true gods.

"It is glorious." Thor agreed.
