Chapter 7
Bilbo could not respond immediately because he could not even breathe, Smaug's eyes made him feel completely mesmerized. The skin-changer leaned over and rested his face on his neck, he was breathing deeply over him, as if he wanted to have his scent in his memory.
'I will take care of you better than anyone. I will make you happy, I promise,' he said, making the human shiver as he felt his warm breath on his skin.
But Bilbo knew there would not be a chance to become the consort of Smaug, he knew that if he found Drogo he will have to leave that city. He had to see Frodo and Primula, his home was there, with them.
'Yes' he said, feeling awful doing it. He knew he was lying, he knew he was promising something that could never happen, and that in a way, he was going to use him to get what he wanted.
However, he did not worry so much, after all Smaug probably would realize that he was not really who he wanted as a partner. Because, being realistic, a human would never be the best option for the leader of the skin-changers. No matter how much Eric and others insist that Bilbo was... special, he did not feel that way.
'You will not regret it,' said the dragon, seeing him in the eye. And Bilbo realized that Smaug's eyes were glowing.
The skin-changer tried to take him away at that time, but Bilbo protested; was not yet closing time at the bar.
'You are not work here anymore.'
'Yes, of course I do, I have to' the human replied.
'You do not need money, I'll give you everything you want, I told you' insisted Smaug.
'Please... you're not going to take this off me... I have to keep doing it, I cannot stay at home all day.'
'Why not? You won't get bored, if that's what worried you, I promise I'll keep you doing something all the time...'
Bilbo felt his face completely flushed to hear the hoarse voice of Smaug and seeing the smile playing on his lips as he spoke those words. He bent to kiss his neck slowly, but the human moved away.
'I... what I mean that I like to keep working here,' he insisted.
Smaug sighed, but Bilbo knew from his expression that he had already surrendered.
'As you wish' he said. 'Although I do not like this place... except you, you are the only thing I like about here. Everyone can look at you... they can see your eyes, they can hear your voice, your laugh and I don't like it. I can stop them from doing that.'
The human blinked, surprised to hear the possessive tone in his voice. He refused to believe it, but it seemed he was... jealous.
'But doesn't matter,' he tried to say with a trembling voice, he tried to calm him, 'because now I am... yours.'
Smaug seemed very pleased to hear those words over and move him closer against his body.
'Not completely... but we can change that soon.'
Bilbo did not know how to answer that, he just cleared his throat and went to continue working. However, since Smaug was sitting on the other side of the bar, watching the intensely at the human, the others skin-changers and hunters preferred not to risk and they kept away from the bar. They did not even dare to look in the direction where the mortal was.
Although, hours later, Bilbo could breathe fresh air again and he felt a bit quieter away from all the stress that had accumulated in Noctem, but the fact that it was time to leave made him nervous at the same time.
Smaug and he went out the other door, which was in the dangerous side of town (as he had been told) and, though it did not look very different from Dale, Bilbo could not stop thinking that everything had changed for him in the moment he set foot outside the bar.
Without warning and causing him to jump back, Smaug became his hybrid form. With a smile he approached him and took him in his arms.
'What are you doing? Smaug, wait!' but it was too late, the demi-dragon had risen to the sky. Bilbo was so scared, so he clung to his neck and closed his eyes and rested his face on his chest.
'Although I really enjoy the warmth of your body, I must insist you might like this more if you could see around you' said Smaug, amused.
'No, thank you, I'm fine' Bilbo murmured, clinging tighter to the skin-changer. He felt Smaug's chest shaking as he laughed.
'You don't have to be afraid, I will not let you fall' he insisted. 'How can you think I would do that? I won't neglect what has become most important to me.'
Finally, Bilbo looked up and looked him in the eye, it seemed that every word was completely sincere and although it gave him more confidence, he tried not to think about it.
So, trying to erase those words from his mind, he dared to look around and discovered that the clouds and silver moonlit night was a wonderful sight to see from the height at which they were. He felt the air on his cheeks and head, shaking his hair, and he realized that the feeling of flying was something close to absolute freedom. And he liked it, he liked the feeling of dizziness and the warmth of Smaug's arms around him, firmly, as if nothing could move them from where they were. He also saw the city and the lights of the houses shone even in the middle of the night and could not help laugh in amusement. His laugh was so clear and beautiful that Smaug could not resist any longer and give him a kiss on the cheek.
'Now you can understand,' he said, 'now you can understand the happiness I feel when I'm flying and you can begin to understand that until I met you I thought that nothing would make me happier than this.'
Bilbo rested his head on his shoulder, but this time not to hide, but because he felt protected. However, he wished Smaug had not said those words and he did not want to hear them repeating in his mind and making his heart beat faster.
Arriving at the house of Smaug he felt strange, especially after discovering how huge it was. It had two floors and he discovered that it had living room, hallway and study... and he was not counting the upstairs bedrooms. However, he heard no noise and everything was completely dark.
'Do you live here... alone?' asked Bilbo, following him slowly up stairs.
'I never liked the company' he said, before turning to look him into his eyes. He smiled 'until now.'
Bilbo chose to ignore that last comment and enter the room that he had indicated. And to be honest, it was beautiful. It had a large window where you could see the street, and a desk and what appeared to be a bookcase... Smiling slightly, he decided that the next day would ask Eric for permission to pick up his stuff that still where in his department.
However, he was completely distracted when he felt Smaug's arms around him. The skin-changer made him sit on the bed and he leaned over to start kissing him. Bilbo could stop him, he could push him away and was sure the skin-changer would not insist again, but he found that he did not... he could not resist. He put his arms around his neck and the skin-changer moved him closer to his body. His lips responded enthusiastically to his passion.
Then Smaug leaned and made Bilbo lay down on the bed. The human felt the weight of the skin-changer's body over him. His warmth was intoxicating... Bilbo felt he was dizzy, could not help but kissing him back...
'I do not think I can get enough of you, Bilbo, I won't' Smaug said, breathing hard and looking at him. His hands began to run down the human's body and began to unbutton his shirt, however, it was at that moment when Bilbo reacted and pushed him away.
'No, Smaug... wait, I can't, not now,' Bilbo said, agitated. Of course he could not do it, because he did not think to stay in there. So he should not...
The skin-changer rose, but he leaned to kiss him on the forehead.
'I'm sorry. I could not resist...' he said, before leaving.
Bilbo decided it was best to try to sleep, forget everything he needed, so he went to bed... but he was uncomfortable and had not brought anything to change clothes... so he got up to close the door and took off his pants, leaving only his shirt, which was quite large and covered part of his thighs. However, he made sure to be well covered with the sheet before closing his eyes.
Upon awakening he realized that the afternoon approached, he was still confused by all that had happened the night before. He felt dizzy and hungry. So he got out of bed and opened the door to the hallway... he heard no noise, so he was slowly down the stairs and see if he could find the kitchen by himself.
However, when he was down and went to the living room, he realized that voices were heard male voices... and it seemed they were more than three... maybe four or five? But when he managed to reach the entrance to the room, when he realized they were five skin-changers, sitting on the couches and talking to Smaug, who was standing in front of them... it was at that time, thanks to the cold feel of the ground... he remembered, when he saw her bare legs, he was not wearing pants. Suddenly his shirt, which was misplaced and showing a part of his left shoulder, did not seem sufficient to cover him. He tried to get away from there quietly, hoping none of them would have noticed, but in his desperation he tripped over a table and despite that he managed to repress the cry of pain, he fell to the ground.
It was unavoidable; all their eyes were turned to him. The conversation ended and was replaced by an uncomfortable silence. Bilbo, with his face completely flushed, stood carefully, he tried to cover his legs as much as he could. He mumbled an apology and raised his head, which only made him feel more embarrassed because all the eyes seemed staring at him; it almost seemed that the five skin-changers had stopped breathing.
'It's a human... it must be an amhal'is...'
'Of course it is! You just have to see him...'
'But is the human, his human.'
'How can he concentrate having that beautiful thing around?'
However, Smaug had had enough of the looks and comments from the other skin-changers and roared, causing them shudder and turn their heads toward him. Smaug stood before Bilbo and changed to his hybrid form. He spread his wings backwards, as if he was trying to cover Bilbo with them. And the truth was the human was grateful because they could no longer look at him...
'This human is Bilbo and will be my consort, so I want you to respect him as you respect me' he said, trying to control the anger in his voice.
Immediately the five skin-changers stood, feeling the deep discomfort in the eyes of Smaug and apologized. One of them came to apologize with Bilbo too, but the dragon growled.
'You can apologize from where you are, he is listening to you.'
'Sorry, lord Bilbo,' said one. The others did the same, making the human feel uncomfortable.
'No... it's not necessary, I... it wasn't your fault' the voice was heard behind Smaug.
'I think it's enough for today... you can go now.'
When they left, Bilbo tried to escape to get his pants, but Smaug was faster and took him in his arms.
'I need to get something to wear...' he protested when the skin-changer lifted him and headed for the couch.
'No, you don't, they already gone. And I think you look perfect' said Smaug, sitting down and putting the human on his lap. Bilbo felt exposed and vulnerable at that moment.
'Smaug...'
But the demi-dragon interrupted, leaning down to kiss the skin of his shoulder. One of his hands was firmly gripped to his waist, while the other was on his naked thigh. He began to stroke him.
'Bilbo, you're so beautiful...' he said, before biting his shoulder gently 'and so delicious...' If you wanted me to desire you even more, you did it.'
'No, I do not...'
'If you wanted me to go insane with jealousy, you did it too. You don't know but I wanted to kill them... but I need them, also I thought that you would not like that.'
Smaug's hand ran up his thigh slowly, while his lips... caught one of his lobes... Bilbo let out an involuntary moan of pleasure.
'I did not do it on purpose,' the human gasped. 'You make it sound as if I wanted to manipulate you, but I couldn't...'
'You can do it,' he said, his voice hoarse. 'I should not say this, Bilbo, but now my will is entirely yours. You could ask me anything and I would do anything to give it to you.'
'Let me go,' Bilbo asked, thinking that if he did not get away from him everything could get out of control.
However, he did not expect the reaction of Smaug; he was completely petrified, his face pale and his eyes flashed with something like panic and sorrow.
'I need to put on my pants, let me go,' said Bilbo, after looking at him, confused.
Then Smaug's expression changed again, it seemed the life was gone from his eyes moments ago had returned. Bilbo was surprised when he felt his arms around him in a possessive hug and, moments later, his lips kissed his forehead tenderly.
'Of course,' he said, before unhanded him. And Bilbo could run to his room and lock it. He still felt very embarrassed by what had happened.
