Chapter 9:
(Eddie P.O.V)
"Who, beside you guys, know?" Rose asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
I moved my gaze from Rose to Lissa then back to Rose. "A lot of people," I answered, praying she doesn't want to know the names.
"Like who?"
There was a demanding tone in her voice that made Lissa flinch beside me. Taking a deep breath, I began to name each and every person who knows.
"Hans, your par-"
"My parents know!" It came out more of a statement than a question.
Not knowing how to respond, I just nodded my head up and down like an idiot. Hoping Lissa or Dimtir would say something. Anything at least.
"Roza, my family knows too," Dimitri said at last, wrapping his arms around Rose. "They didn't tell me either."
"They have no right doing that, Dimtri," she snapped, clearly pissed about the situation. "No one has the right to keep this a secret from us. How can you be so calm?"
Sighing in frustration, Rose shook her head back and forth. Lissa squeezed my hand as we looked between them.
"Is Tyler alright?" Rose asked in a more calm voice, looking at Lissa and me.
"Yes," Lissa answered quietly.
Ever since Rose walked in, Lissa has been very quite until now.
"He's with Christian at court," she continued, eyes fixed on her best friend. "Everyone is trying their best to bring back Rosalie and James safely."
Knowing we don't have much time, I stood up with Lissa's and mine cups in hand. Coming to the sink, I laid the cups down gently. I took a deep a breath before turning around. Man, I've taking a lot of deeps breathes lately.
Shrugging my shoulders, I asked, "do you need any help packing?"
"I can help you, Rose," Lissa chimed in, jumping off the bar stole. "You know how much I love clothes."
Rose glared at her. "And you know how much I hate being out of the loop." With that Rose left the kitchen.
Dimitri's the one who sighed this time. "We won't be long."
Nodding my head at him, I looked over at Lissa who gave me a sad smile. Pulling out my phone, I sent my father quick a text.
Eddie: We have two people coming back with us
Hans: Who?
Starring at the message, I debated with myself if I should reply or not. If I don't then he's going to be angry with me and if I do then he's also going to be angry at me for telling Rose and Dimitri. Either way my father's going to be angry at me.
Eddie: Rose & Dimitri
"Do you think they will forgive us?" Lissa asked, coming up beside me.
Shrugging my shoulders, I looked down at the tiled floor. Wondering how in world we got into the huge mess. Oh, yeah we lied to our best friends about their daughter. How can Rose and Dimitri forgive us after what we lied to them?
After a few minutes, Dimitri came into the kitchen, alone. "Does anyone know you're here?" he asked, keeping his face emotionless. "Besides the guardians who came here with you and Hans. Who else knows?"
"Just those people," I answered, keeping my eyes on the floor.
"We're going to load up our rental car and we'll be on our way."
Of course they have their own car that they would rather drive in than the one filled with traders. After what seemed like years, my father finally replies.
Hans: Do they know everything?
Eddie: Yes
"We should help them by packing up their food and drinks for them," Lissa suggested, searching for bags. "I mean all this food can't stay here. It'll rot and get all gross."
Putting my phone away, I helped her find the bags. Cardboard boxes would be better. They don't rip as easily plastic bags do. Opening the food pantry to find paper bags tucked sitting on an empty shelf. At least they're not plastic.
"Lissa, I found some paper bags!" I called, closing the pantry door. "I hope you found an ice chest cause there wasn't one in the pantry."
"We don't have an ice chest," Rose answered, standing in the door of the kitchen.
How long has she standing there? I didn't even hear walk in. Wow, I'm a great guardian! Great enough not to notice that my best friend entered the kitchen. I mentally rolled my eyes at myself.
"Well..." I said. "Thanks for letting me know."
That was stupid. I should of just kept my mouth shut at least then I wouldn't say something stupid, but if I did Rose will get mad that I didn't say something. Wait! Since when do I care about saying something stupid in front of Rose? She's like a little sister to me. Usually, she would laugh at me and I mostly just punched her arm for that. But, never have I cared about something stupid to her.
That's weird.
"Are you done packing?" Lissa asked before I had a chance to talk again. "Do you want to take your food or..." she trailed off, not knowing what to say.
"Dimitri's loading the last bags in the car," Rose answered, her hands on her hips.
(Lissa P.O.V)
I couldn't help feeling uneasy around Rose. We've best friends since kindergarten. Sisters is more like it. But, ever since Rose and Dimitri found out about the secret, it seems like we're all strangers who are forced to like each other.
Stop that, Lissa! You know Rose doesn't like being out of the loop.
Sighing, I got a plastic bag from Eddie and started packing the food. All was silence in the kitchen among myself, Rose and Eddie. The only talking between us was asking the other person if there's more plastic bags.
After we got all the food packed in paper bags and loaded in the car, we were on our way to the airport. Really wanting to know what Rose and Dimitri are talking since they rode in their own rental car.
The long drive to the airport was stressful. Very stressful. To distract myself, I sent a quick text to Christian.
Lissa: How's everything?
Christian: Good. Tyler and I are playing football. Well...it's mostly me chasing after him for the ball.
I'm glad Tyler has someone to play with when his parents are busy. It makes me wonder if Christian and I are ever going to have kids. That's a whole another story, Liss.
Sighing, I thought back to the time when he told me the story of his parents. How he's afraid that he might turn into his parents. Christian likes kids, but he doesn't want to have any.
Now I know what Rose and Dimitri felt when they thought they couldn't have kids. I enjoy having Tyler stay with us. Yes, he's a handful, but what kid isn't. I'm going to miss him a lot.
Eh, why can't I be good at distracting myself? Thinking about wanting kids isn't helping anyone in this major situation we have on our hands right now. Taking a deep breath, I cleared my mind. For the rest of the ride, I looked at the window at the scenery before me.
(Dimitri P.O.V)
"Dimitri, how can you be so calm when I'm freaking out here?" Rose asked, looking at me in outrage. "For all we know Tyler is probably not even at court with Christian. They could of lied about that too. Do you believe when them? Do you believe our kids are really safe?"
I know Lissa and Eddie didn't mean for Rosalie and James to get kidnapped at Rose's and mine's wedding. I know they wouldn't hurt Tyler, neither of them are those type of people who would hurt anyone.
They both lost the ones they love at a young age and are afraid of losing Rose and I. Yes, we're angry, but no matter what we're always going to be a family. A family that more ups and downs than any normal human family.
"Yes, Roza, I'm angry," I told her, choosing my words carefully. "I do believe that Tyler is safe and sound at court with Christian. As for Rosalie and James, we'll find them and bring them back home safely."
"Anything is possible when you put your mind to it," Rose repeated more to herself than me. "Nothing in this world is too impossible or too big."
As much as Rose says she hates reading, I know she got those words from my reading favorite western novels. We rode the rest of the way to the airport in silence. Me focusing on the road and Rose lost in thought.
After a while, we finally arrived at the airport with our private jet waiting to take us back to court. Looking in the review mirror, I saw the car Lissa, Eddie and the other guardians are in, drive up behind me. Moving my gaze over to my Roza, who was still starring straight ahead.
"Ready?" I asked, taking her hand in mine.
She gave me a small before unbuckling her seatbelt. Climbing out of the car, I opened the trunk. Grabbing our bags, I walked over to the jet. Stepping inside, I set down the bags in the storage compartment.
"I don't know about you, but I'm sitting in the way back," Rose said, walking toward the back of the jet.
Shaking my head, I followed her. Sitting down in the small, uncomfortable seats, I wrapped my arm around her. Rose laid her head on my chest and looked out the window.
Seeing Lissa and Eddie take a seat in the middle while the guardians sat in the front. No one said a single word to anyone as the jet took off for Pennsylvania. This going to a long, quite flight.
Like? Hate?
Let me know!
Thanks(:
