Chapter 17:
(Rosalie P.O.V)
"Rosalie."
Moaning, I pulled the blankets over my head.
"Rosalie...wake up."
Moaning again, I pulled the blankets closer to me.
"Rosalie kiddo...time to wake up."
How is it time to get up? It feels like I just went to sleep. It can't be morning already! Sticking my arm out of the blankets, I moved it back and forth trying to hit the annoying the person. All I got was laugher, but wasn't it the joyful kind.
"You can't hit me if your little arm isn't anywhere near me," the voice said. "You're so much like your mother. I wish I can talk to her again. To have her see me like she did before..." the voice trailed off.
I realized I wasn't dreaming at all. That there was a real person in my room who knows my mommy. Opening my eyes to pitch black, I slowly pulled the blankets off my head. A young male dhampir with red messing hair smiled sadly at me.
He was the same dhampir I saw on the street in Las Vegas and in mommy's photos.
"Mason, what do you mean?" I asked, not understanding what he means. "I thought you and my mommy are best friends?"
She doesn't talk about him much. Neither does Uncle Eddie. Mommy said Eddie and Mason are like the big brothers she never had.
"Why doesn't mommy talk to you anymore? Did you two get in a fight?" I really wanted to know what was going on between the three of them.
"No, your mom and I aren't fighting," Mason answered, sitting on the edge of my light blue and white bed. "What does mom say about me?"
"She said you're like a big brother to her," I answered happily. "That you're really nice, sweet and husband. Even though some of your jokes might be dumb, they still make her-"
I was cut off when there a light knock at the door. Jumping off the, I ran over and opened the door a crack. Standing there was a sleepy, little Tyler holding his stuffed train in one hand and rubbing his also sleepy eyes with the other.
"Ty, why aren't you in bed?" I asked.
Instead of answering me, Tyler leaned his head against my stomach. Wrapping my arms around his little body, I hugged him.
"Rosalie, who is it?" Mason whispered, coming up behind me.
"It's Tyler," I whispered back, kissing my little brother's head.
Tyler looked up at the mention of his name. There was a confused and sleepy look on his face. "Rosie, who talking to?"
Now it was my turn to look confused. Can't he see Mason standing behind me? It's kind of hard to miss him when he's almost the same height as Uncle Eddie.
"Good morning," daddy said, picking up Tyler. "How do you feel about banana pancakes for breakfast?"
"I love nanas," Tyler answered, smiling at the thought of eating banana pancakes.
"How about you, Rosalie?" daddy asked, looking at me. "Do you want banana pancakes?"
"Of course, I want banana pancakes!" I told him, jumping up and down. "And bacon! You can't forget the bacon!"
Mason laughed at mine and my brother's excitement for banana pancakes and bacon. I wonder if daddy see's Mason? I don't think so. If he did, he would have said something.
Am I the only one who can Mason? Mommy use to, but for reason she can't anymore. I really need to ask her what the reason is. Maybe, I can ask her when daddy and Tyler are making breakfast.
"Daddy, is mommy still sleeping?" I asked, hoping she's not.
"No, she's in our room talking on the phone," he answered, turning to Tyler and asking, "do you help me make breakfast?"
Tyler nodded his up and down happily. When they went into the kitchen, I faced Mason.
"Why can't anyone see you, but me?" I asked in a low voice, not knowing what's going on here. "Why can't mommy see you anymore?"
"Ask her," was all he said.
Taking his word, I walked to mommy's and daddy's bedroom. Knocking on the door, I waited for answer.
"Come in!" my mommy shouted from behind the closed, wooden door.
I opened the door wide enough for Mason and me. Going in, I shut the door behind me. Mommy was laying on the bed with her phone in hand. Climbing on the bed next to her, I couldn't see what she was doing on the phone.
"Hi, sweetie," she said at last, putting her phone down beside her. "Doesn't grandma know it's too early to be calling? Anyways, what's up?"
I laughed. My mommy is the older sister I've always wanted. Don't get me wrong I love Tyler, but I really want a sister though. I hope the baby in mommy's stomach is a girl. Mason took a sit on the edge of the bed, reminding me why I'm here.
"Mommy, there's something I want to ask you," I said, feeling my cheeks burn.
"What is it, Rosie?"
I took a long, deep breathe. "Well...I um..."
"Rosalie, it's okay," Mason said, smiling at me. "It's your mom. You can tell her anything."
I should start from the beginning when I first saw Mason. "Well, the day when daddy and the other guardians came to recuse James and me, I saw someone who you know from high school."
Mommy laughed. "There's a lot people I know from high school. You need to be more...can you please describe the person you saw?"
Mason nodded his head at me. I took another deep breathe, knowing I'm going to describe someone who barely anyone talks about.
"It's a man," I said, starting off easy. "He's a dhampir with red messing hair and bright blue eyes."
I left it at that, hoping mommy doesn't have a lot red-headed friends from high school. When I saw her face grow serious, I realized she knew who I was talking about. I wish I could take it back.
I felt horrible for bringing Mason up. Looking over at him, I saw he felt horrible too. Mommy sighed and pulled me in for a hug. I laid my head against her chest and listened to her heart beat.
It was both soothing and loving.
"Oh, Rosie," my mommy whispered. "Did you really see...see Mason?"
Looking up at her, I nodded. "I saw him twice now. One in Las Vegas and the other...and the other in my room. He said you use to be able to talk and see him, but now you can't. Why is that, mommy?"
"Sweetie, I promise when you get older you'll understand more, but for right now all you need to know is that you're a very special little girl."
"I am?" I asked excitedly.
I'm special! Very special! I love being special!
"You are," mommy answered, smiling at me. "You are very, very special."
"I'm going to go tell daddy!" I exclaimed, jumping off the bed and running out of the room.
(Rose P.O.V)
Once Rosalie left the room, I cried. I can't believe my little girl saw Mason. I thought he moved on. Guess I was wrong. I couldn't even bring myself to ask what he was doing in Las Vegas and in her room.
Since Rosalie is shadow-kissed, she can see and talk to Mason like I use to when I was shadow-kissed. I miss him so much! Covering my mouth with both of my hands, I cried even harder.
"Roza," Dimitri called, walking into our room.
One look was all it took before he was at my side and cradling me in his arms. I let him hold me while I sobbed into his chest. I rarely cried about anything, but theses dam hormones are getting the worst of me.
"Roza, everything is going to be alright," Dimitri assured me, brushing my hair away from my face. "What did your mother want?"
I shook my head, not wanting to answer any questions right now. Thankfully, he got the message and didn't ask anymore questions.
"Breakfast is ready," he said after a moment of silence. "It's your and the kids' favorite: banana pancakes and bacon."
We do love both banana pancakes and bacon. Lots of bacon! Wiping the last of my tears, I climbed off the our bed. Dimitri bent down and kissed me sweetly on the lips before we headed out to join our kids.
Poor Rose!
What do you think about Rosalie seeing/talking to Mason?
Please, review!
Thanks so much(:
