Let's see how our little friend James is doing since he arrived home!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)
Chapter 18:
(James P.O.V)
No matter how many times my daddy says I'm safe, I don't feel safe. Not after what happened. I still don't understand why anyone would want to take Rosie and me away from our families and friends?
Every now and then, I get the feeling that someone is watching me. Waiting to take me far away to a place no one knows. I'll never see my family and friends again. Well...not friends, but friend. Rosie is my only friend. She's my best friend.
I wonder how she's doing with all of this? Maybe, I should talk to her. Yeah, I should go talk to her. Talking to Rosie always makes me feel better and I bet it will make her feel better too!
Getting out of bed, I walked out into the living room. Seeing my daddy sitting on the couch reading the newspaper makes me think the whole thing was just some horrible nightmare. But, again...I know it was real.
"Daddy, can I go to Rosie's, please?" I asked, climbing on the couch next to him. "I really need to see her."
Setting down the newspaper, he turned toward me. "Son, I understand you want to see Rosie, but her family misses her too. She needs time to fix things with her family."
Fix things? What things? I hope everything is alright. Seeing my worried face, my daddy continued.
"How about you and Rosie have a lunch play date here or at her house?"
"Her house!" I answered quickly with a smile on my face. "I want to play with Tyler too."
I guess you say Tyler is my friend. I mean we always play trains together and he's really fun to be around. But, no one really understands me like Rosie does.
"Come on," my daddy said, getting up off the couch. "Let's go get some breakfast, but first you have to get dressed."
Jumping off the couch, I ran back to my room. Finding a pair of pants and a shirt in my dresser, I put them both on. I went to my closet to get my shoes and then went to my dresser because I forgot to grab some socks the first time.
Sitting on my soft, light blue carpet, I pulled on my white socks on over my bare feet. Now getting my shoes on is always hard for me. Just like that my daddy walked into my room.
"Need some help?" he asked, nodding toward my shoes.
"Yes, please," I replied nicely. "Thanks daddy."
"Your welcome, son."
After helping me put on my shoes, my daddy and I went to where all the shops are at. Do people really have to walk all this way to get something to eat? Back in Russia, you could just walk down the hall to Emily's bedroom.
Emily lived with daddy and me before we moved to court. I asked him one day if Emily was coming with us. Daddy said Emily was afraid of flying and went to live with another Moroi family.
We write back and forth sometimes since Emily doesn't believe in phones or she doesn't know how to use one. I forgot what she told me. Holding hands with my daddy, we crossed the courtyard.
We stopped a few times, so daddy and his friends can talk. I didn't really know how many friends my daddy has, but I do know it's a lot. Having no idea what they're saying, I tuned them out.
Seeing Eddie come out of the guardian headquarters, I thought of the last time I seen him. Now that I think about it, it's been a long time since I seen him.
"Eddie!" I called, waving at him.
Looking up, he smiled at me. Instead of heading off to wherever he was going, Eddie came walking toward me.
"Hey, kiddo," he greeted me. "Haven't been causing any trouble, have you?"
Laughing, I shook my head back and forth. Eddie always makes Rosie and me laugh even when he's not trying to. His jokes are even more funny when he tells them himself. It must really cool to have an uncle like Eddie.
"Well..." I began, still laughing. "There was this one time when-"
"No, stop. I don't want to hear it," Eddie said, holding up his hands. "I don't know how many times I have to tell you this, but it goes again. When you steal cookies from the kitchen you have make sure you get all of them or else I'm going to have to tickle you."
I shook my head again as I backed up toward my daddy. Eddie nodded his head and took a step forward. I held my hands out, hoping it will stop him from tickling me.
"Who said I was going to tickle you now?" he asked, eyeing me.
He has a point. He didn't say he was going to tickle me now. But, if not now then later.
"How are you this morning, Lord Szelsky?" Eddie asked my daddy.
"I'm good and you?" daddy replied.
"Good. Well I have to go." Eddie looked down at me. "See ya, kiddo."
"Bye, Eddie!" I called after him.
"Ready?" my daddy asked, smiling down at me.
"Ready!"
(Lissa P.O.V)
"Rose, slow down," I said for the millionth time. "I can't understand you when you're talking too fast."
Sitting in my room, I tried to make sense of what my best friend was telling me. So far it's not going so well.
"Please, start from the beginning," I added quickly as she was about to open her mouth.
Sighing, Rose laid down on the mountain of pillows. "Rosalie saw Mason twice. Once in Las Vegas and the other in her room this morning. She said the second time, her and Mason were talking about me not being able to talk or see him."
Oh, man! I can't image how scared she was. I'm guessing since Rose is here and not at home that Rosalie is alright. Laying down next to her, I grabbed her hand in mine. Having no idea what to say, I just laid there quietly.
I would be scared if I saw ghosts. Even thinking of them, gives me the creeps. Rose use to see ghosts and back then it was scary to watch my best friend go through something I can never experience with her. Don't want to experience.
"But, it was just Mason, right?" I asked after a moment of silence.
"Yeah, both times it was only Mason," she answered softly, not meeting my eyes.
Rose has been through more than anyone in this entire world. Through thick and thin, she still finds happiness among all the bad that has been happened in her life. No matter what, Rose will always be the furious guardian I know and love.
It might be her job to protect me, but it's my job to always be there for her when she needs me. She's my dhampir and I'm her Moroi. That's how it always been and always will be for as long as we live.
Even though, we're not bonded anymore, I still feel like we're connected somehow. No matter how much I want us to be bonded again, I refuse to let Rose have another near death experience.
I refuse to let my best friend go through all that again. I hated seeing how much my darkness affected her and I don't want her to be like that again. I'll do whatever takes it to keep Rose safe.
I can start by not letting her come to the trial or making sure Dimitri keeps her away while the trial is happening. I know it's mean to keep her away, but I know Robert might say something about Rose being pregnant in front of all those people.
I can't let that happened. Robert asked a few times for Rose, but she refuses to see him which is a good thing. I know Sonya made the necklace, so only Rose's close friends and family know, but I'm still afraid Robert might find out somehow.
Appearing Rose's dreams is also out of the question since a spirit user can block another spirit user from entering a person's head. Of course, Robert probably figured that out since he's asking for Rose.
Why can't everyone just leave Rose alone?
Seeing she fell asleep, I turned off the lamp. I pulled the blankets over us and went back to sleep myself. The last couple of weeks have been hard on everyone. Sleeping at night is extremely difficult when you have your best friend's life time enemy in a cell only miles away.
Good? Bad? Let me know what you think.
Thanks(:
