Chapter 16
Elphaba walked into the throne room, it was empty except for one soul who was lifeless. She giggled to herself and walked over to Davina's body. She tapped her with her foot. "Come now my pretty, they are gone. You can wake up now." Davina coughed and started to sob. "Oh please, it's not as if I killed your precious family."
Davina glared up at her. "I helped you, Fiyero is back and you mock what you took from me?"
Elphaba grabbed at her throat. "Yes but your husband caused me to lose my sister! It was his fault, all of this." She threw her to the floor. "You on the other hand just happened to piss off the wrong queen. Now leave. I tire of your company." She waved her hand again and Davina was in the middle of the forest, alone and heart broken.

"Wait, wait we can't just barge in and tell him all of this!" Snow urged.
"True, telling a man that his true love isn't really dead, that could be problematic." Killian pointed out.
"Especially with Jefferson." Emma huffed. "So… who is going to talk to him?"
"You're not going to?" Snow questioned.
"The last time he saw me I tossed him out a window, so maybe you shouldn't ether." Emma confessed.
"I punched him."
"Bloody hell, what is it with you lot and violence?" Hook interjected. "Perhaps I should be the one."
"You, the man who disowned his wife?" David snorted.
"I'm sure he knows me, my past with Vina…" Her name rolled off his tongue too easily and it made his breath hitch. "I have no reason to lie to him about her being alive; I have no past with him as the rest of you seem to have." He threw a questioning look at Regna and Rumple. They both nodded.
"Alright, it's settled. Hook you go and get Jefferson and Grace, we'll meet back at The Jolly Roger at dusk." Emma stated. She squeezed Killian's hand and drew him in for a hug. "Be patent with him, he has thought for over 30 years that his wife is dead. He wasn't cursed like everyone else last time; Regina made him remember everything the entire time." She whispered and kissed him on the cheek. "You can do this." She and the others headed off to town.
Hook looked around at the school yard and finally spotted the man Emma had described. He watched as a young girl with dark blond hair entered his arms. He watched them and saw the girl's striking blue eyes. They started walking towards Killian lost in conversation. "Your hair is starting to darken."
"I like it. I look more like mama now."
"Indeed you do." He smiled sadly. When he looked up he caught Killian staring at him and recognized him immediately. He looked down at his daughter. "Grace, go wait by the car, I'll be along shortly." The young girl skipped away as the men stared at each other in silence. "What are you doing here?" Jefferson clenched his fists.
"Whoa mate, I come in peace."
"A little late for that don't you think?"
"Perhaps not, if you would just hear me out."
"You mean the way you heard out Davina!" Jefferson fumed. "You left her, wouldn't even come to our wedding! She wanted you there more than anything! Do you know how many nights I held her as she cried herself to sleep or made herself sick with worry of you?!" Tears started to build in his eyes. "And our daughter, she wanted so much to tell you but she never did! Davina loved you!" Killian stood silent, taking his much deserved punishment. They stood staring and silent for what seemed like hours. Finally Killian broke the silence.
"Look mate, I can't make up for the past. I know what she did, she did for my benefit. She was always thinking about me and my happiness before her own; that is until she met you. And I was there, my ship was cloaked, and I watched from a distance." He paused. "But I'm here now and I need your help. Yours and your daughter's."
"What could you possibly want from us? We finally found peace."
'What if I could offer you more than peace? What if I said there was a way to be truly happy again. A whole family."
"Meaning?"
"Meaning, Vina is alive, and needs your help."
Jefferson let out a quick breath and his knees gave way. He caught himself with his hands. 'You… You aren't lying."
"No."
"I knew, it sounds crazy, but someone how I knew." He started to cry. "I was heartbroken, but I could feel her, her heart somehow." He looked up at Hook. "What do you need?"
Break
Davina sat in her cell playing with the ring on her left hand. She looked at the stone shimmering against the water's light. It had been so long since she even thought about the curse and now it was actually useful. Her mind floated to a castle in the Enchanted Forest 28 years earlier.
"Rumpelstilskin!" She yelled through the halls. She opened the door to the grand ballroom where she knew he would be. He was spinning as usual.
"Ah hello dearie. How's the family?"
She shot him daggers. "Don't toy with me Rumple. You know what I am after."
"Yes yes, but do you?"
"I can't handle this pain any longer. I'll never get to watch Grace grow up, never get to hold Jefferson again. It's unbearable."
"Sounds like it's your heart that pains you dearie." He never left his spinning, only laughed. "You know there is a way to end the suffering. Simply remove your heart."
"I'm not her, THAT is not an option." She said disgusted. "There has to be another way."
"Perhaps there is dearie, but it'll cost you."
"Should I try and sound shocked when I question the price?" She spat.
"No need for hostility Davi, what I want isn't too horrible. What I want is the secret."
"Secret?"
"Yes I want to control the secret of what we are doing here. Not you, me." He giggled. "You'll never be able to speak of it, never be able to tell anyone why, nothing."
"You want my secret? Why?"
"That's my business dearie."
Davina thought on the deal a moment. "Alright, but I have a condition on your price."
"I'm listening."
"If you are to control the secret, you can only tell the secret to those I truly love. If they are present, then and only then can you divulge this."
"Hmmmmm that would only be three people my dear. Not very enticing."
"You and I both know you will cross paths with at least one of them in the future. My sight has shown me as much, as I'm sure yours has."
"Very well we have a deal!" HE stuck out his hand. Davina hesitated before grabbing it firmly. She felt a sharp pain flow from the hand holding Rumples to her chest. She felt the pain dim, not disappear but dull just enough that it was no more than an annoyance. "There you are dearie, a dull pain. But you will also feel very little for others. I expect your reputation will grow very quickly now." He laughed and she was poofed onto a deck that she knew all too well. She was home.
Davina felt a solitary tear run down her cheek as she put her hand over her chest. She laughed at the fact that even now she didn't feel regret over her decision to curse herself.
