Chapter 18

Emma came and stood next to Killian at the helm. She stilled when he grabbed her hand and held the wheel steady with his hook. They hadn't had any real alone time since he had been rescued. "Since she rescued him." She thought with a smile. She looked up at him, taking the time to admire his jaw line and scruff that she had become used to. A small smirk crept onto his face.

"See something you like, love?" He looked down at her. She nodded and rested her head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of her head. "I never thanked you." He whispered into her hair. "For everything. Saving me, slapping me when I left Vina." He paused.

"Vina?" Emma asked.

He chuckled. "Don't even think about trying to call her that. I am the only one she has ever permitted to." He smiled out to the horizon. "Perks of being her older brother."

Emma settled back to his arm. "I never thanked you either." She sighed. "For coming back, helping save Henry, teaching me to fight."

He chuckled. "I didn't teach you how to fight Emma; that, you have always done. I simply put a sword in your hand." He released her hand and wrapped his arms around her waist. "And there is no need to thank me. You saved me, made me remember what it is to live, to love." She looked up at him almost scared. "Emma, I know we, I mean you and I we have…" He stumbled over his words. "We haven't said, or talked about..."

Emma leaned up and kissed him softly. "I don't think with us, words have been how we express anything." She smiled and brought a hand to his cheek. "But if you need to hear me say it." She paused. "I'm in love with you, you stubborn, ridiculous, infuriating pirate."

He laughed. 'Well at least you didn't say villain." He kissed her passionately. Her knees went weak and he held her up. "I love you savior."

Break

"Captain what is our next course of action?" Sebastian asked.

"We leave this realm, immediately."

"Captain?"

"The Evil Queen, well Regina, she is going to cast a curse. If we are in this realm we will be brought here or frozen. Neither of those options will work with what we do." She said with a straight expression.

"And you family?" He asked.

"They will survive." She sighed. "They will have some trials, but they will be happy…eventually." A single tear fell and with a flash of green they were gone.

Break

"We're almost there." Emma said coming up next to Jefferson. She laughed to herself. "I guess you were right last time we met." She smiled at him.

"Glad to see you believe." He said trying to make the words sound light, failing miserably. "I can't believe I didn't see this coming."

"How could you?"

"I knew, in my heart she wasn't gone. I felt like my heart had been ripped out when I watched her die, but from what I hear, when your true love dies you can't move on from it. I still felt life in me." He smiled towards Grace. "I guess I always thought it was because of her." He looked at Emma. "But I knew, knew she was still out there."

Emma smiled. "She never told me who you were, but when the subject of family came up I could see a flash of regret. It happened so quickly I thought maybe I imagined it."

"That sounds like my wife alright." He smiled to himself and looked at the water. "She was always guarded before we got married. When we first met I was running from the king's men. I was hurt and she healed me, but never gave me her name. For a year I thought of her, dreamed of her. She haunted me even when I was with other women. Then we met a later at Rumpelstilskin's, I knew I had to be with her. I had no idea it would lead to her stealing my heart."

Emma laughed and looked up at Killian. "I think that is a family trait." She let out a relaxing sigh. "It's nice to talk to someone who isn't family, or so wrapped up in our drama that they basically are."

Jefferson let out a loud laugh. "Well Emma, if the looks you give the captain tell anything, talking to me won't be that for long. We could be in laws soon." He turned serous. "If we can save her."

She put her hand on his shoulder. "We will."

"How. We can't even go under the water without her. Not in this ship." Emma looked at him in shock. "She was my wife Emma; we talked about everything, past present and future. I know that she is the only one who can turn a ship into something magical enough to travel beneath the surface."

"But the Dutchman?"

"Yes, that one can on its own."

Emma ran over to Killian. "We need to signal the Dutchman."

"Why?" He looked confused?"

"We can't break the surface with The Jolly Roger, but the Dutchman can."

"How did you get to me then?" He looked at Emma, then realized. "Vina." He looked over to Grace. "It has to be her."

"Why?"

"I can't summon it, neither can anyone else. If she can't, no one can." Killian looked at his niece again, this time she looked back. "Come up here lass." She skipped up the stairs and he kneeled in front of her. "Alright lass we need your help."

"Wait Killian, we need to talk to Jefferson about this too."

"Talk to me about what?" Jefferson appeared behind her. They looked at him. "What I saw my daughter skip up here and you all started talking. I'm allowed to be curious."

"We need Grace to summon the Dutchman." Emma said warily.

"Excuse me?" Jefferson asked shocked. "Why her?"

"I have never been able to do it." He stood and looked at Jefferson. "The only way I know how to for sure is to have someone die. So unless you are volunteering, which would leave summoning it pointless I suggest you let us try."

"Killian." Emma whined.

"She's only 13."

"I know that mate, but what choice do we have?"

"She didn't even like it when I used magic around her, let alone asking her to use it herself. Davina will have our heads for it." Jefferson protested.

"I think in this instant she would disagree mate." Killian suggested.

"Then you know your sister even less than I thought." Jefferson glared at Killian. "She was always thinking about what was best for others; me, our daughter and YOU." He tried to keep from shaking, but a few tears fell from his eyes. Grace grabbed her papa's hand and pulled him down to her.

"Papa, I can do this." She smiled. "I think we deserve to have Mama here. You deserve to smile again, really smile. Please let me try." Jefferson looked at his daughter unable to say no. He nodded and kissed her forehead. She turned to Killian and Emma. "What do I have to do?"

"I believe magic is your area love." Killian smiled to Emma.

Emma smiled and led Grace to the railing. "Ok I really have no idea if this will work, but I will help you with magic if I can. You need feel the magic inside. Don't think about what you are doing, feel it. Who are you trying to save, why are you doing this. Let your emotions control your actions." She looked down at Grace and smiled.

Grace took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Then she whispered, almost so Emma couldn't hear. "Please." There was a flash of green and a familiar ship appeared.

Break

"Well well well, this is a surprise. Didn't think I'd be seeing you again." A familiar voice called from behind Davina. She didn't turn to face him; she stayed perched on her rock at the beach looking out at the water.

"Life is full of surprises." She said without feeling.

"What brings you to the island Davi?" Peter Pan asked sitting next to her.

"You know very well what."

He looked out at the ship. "Ah yes, the dear captain, does he know you still watch out for him?"

"You Tink asked me that the last time I saw her." She smirked at him. "But you are not a silly fairy, you know that answer as well."

"True enough, but I can't help but wonder why."

"Not all of us are heartless pan." She said coldly.

"Ah but I am not heartless, I'm just more selfish than most."

"Understatement of the year."

"Now now, there is no need to be rude. Besides, you want something from me, I can feel it." He whispered into her ear.

She shrugged him away. "Yes."

"Well go on then, ask."

Davina sighed. "He's going to come to you and ask for passage off the island." She looked at him. "And you are going to give it to him."

"And why would I do that?" He looked out at the ship. "I quite enjoy Hook."

"Killian." She corrected.

"You are the only one who remembers that name. I'd wager even he has. You haven't spent any real time with him in centuries. He is cold, cruel and full of hate." He looked at her. "How does that feel, to know you are responsible?" Davina closed her eyes, breathing deeply. "Not pleasant I take it."

She opened her eyes and glared at Pan. "I can see Rumple got his kindness from you." She scoffed. "Do we have a deal or not?"

"Well for there to be a deal there has to be a trade." Pan said as he jumped down from the rock and started to pace. "I would want something in return of course."

"Naturally." Davina sighed.

"Don't sound so enthusiastic Davi." He smirked up at her.

'Stop playing games Pan, I have no time or desire to play."

"Very well." He flew up to the top of the rock and sat next to her again. "I want to know something, that is your payment."

"What do you want to know? My favorite color? Always been a fan of yellow, despite the rumors." Davina laughed.

"Now who's playing games." Pan gave an evil laugh. "No I want to know something about the future."

"What?"

"Don't act confused Davi; you knew that's what I would ask for." He dug into his pocket and pulled out a piece of parchment and handed it to Davi. "This young man, when and where will I find him?"

Davi looked at the photo. She had seen that face before with Killian and the mystery blond. She stared harder and fished her memory for the information. "Storybrooke."

"Storybrooke?"

"Aye. As to when I cannot say. But if it has anything to do with Regina's curse, you have a good 30 years at least."

"Where is this Storybrooke?"

"In a land without magic."

Pan lets out an exasperated sigh. "That damn land sends me so many."

"Can you blame them? Living without any wonder or happy endings, that would drive them to Neverland." Davi said matter of factly. "Do we have a deal?"

Pan looked at Davi and smiled. "Yes we have a deal. When he wants passage off the island, he will have it." With that he was gone.

Davi looked back out to the ship and sighed. She hoped she was right about everything and poofed back to her ship.
