Jace POV
I never could see why girls could ever have this much stuff and never think to throw stuff away. I must of made seven trips all by myself, Simon and Jordan probably made just about the same amount of trips that I had made. Only a few amount of boxes were left in Clary's corner of the room, probably holding clothes for different season or what they didn't get to before Clary asked me to shake everyone away. We waited a couple of minutes after everyone had left before we slipped our coats on and sneaked out of the room.
Even if it was only around seven, the sun had nearly set completely in the sky. I never gave much thought to how dark that it got, I could always find my way in any lighting. She seemed to take her time, trying to drink everything in that this time of day had to offer. It wasn't much, but then again I don't know where she had come from to go to school here. I lead her over into the school parking lot towards by bike.
I knew that by the expression on her face, this wasn't what she was expecting to go and get frozen yogurt on. Most guy normal drive girls in cars so that their hair doesn't get messed, but what could I say. I liked my motorcycle and I worked hard to get my parents to help me buy one. I slid onto the bike without much thought and extended it the only helmet out to her.
"Are you sure that this thing is safe? I have seen stories about some pretty bad motorcycle accidents on the news before. I don't want to end up like that."
"Would it help you to say that I passed the test three times with flying colors each time. Once in normal condition, one where it was stimulated to act drunk, and one where it was a rainstorm. Im probably one of the safest people to drive with other than professionals. I haven't ever been close to an accident before."
"I'm taking your word on this. If we so much as make a swerve that I don't like, I'm calling a cab to come and take me home. I don't trust these things that much in the first place. They just don't seem all that safe."
"Well as long as you wear the helmet while you are on the bike then you should be fine. I'm sorry if it messes up your hair, but your safety is a whole lot more important than your hair."
Clary POV
I swung my leg over the side of the bike and hesitantly wrapped my arms around him, "I surprised that you are so skidding about this. Its not like you haven't had your arms around me before."
"That was in private. This is public in case you can't see. There is a difference between public and private."
"Well as long you don't start to suck on my neck or anything like that, then I'm pretty sure that people aren't going to think anything of it. Just that we might have to get something from the store or food, which is what we technically are doing."
He started the engine and pulled out of the spot. I could feel the wind whip around the parts of my hair that weren't tucked into the helmet. I was going to have a giant rat's nest by the time that I got off of this bike, fanfreakingtastic. This one would go in looking like a Greek god and then there would just be me with the tangled ends.
He pulled into the parking lot of a menchies, the colorful swirls moving around in there. A group of girls turned their head in disgust until they saw Jace. I doubt that they were all that impressed by me. The lead girl of the table smiled and wink at Jace while I got the evil eye from the entire group. Well this is going to make an experience.
"Do you want a waffle or regular bowl? I got a gift card a while ago and I don't know how this stuff really works. 25 bucks." Jace said honestly
"Waffle cone, but you can pick the flavor since you are paying. Can I just say that the lemon isn't all that great."
"Cherry, that always seems to be a good thing to stick with. Always was a certain pop." He said looking at me.
We filled up the cup to almost the rim. Then we moved over to the toppings, choosing peanut butter chips, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and of course two cherries on top. The guy at the counter just trailed his eyes along me the entire we were preparing the stuff. Jace was sure to give him the not a chance look to get him the message.
We sat down at the opposite end that that the girls were at. One of them was careful enough to make sure that they had an eye on us the entire time that they were there. Some girls were just the stupidest over things that they didn't even know about.
Seeing Jace, this tall and athletic guy, eating candy colored frozen yogurt with a cartoon ice cream cone at the end was hilarious. He looked like he belonged in the gym or playing sport with some guy friends, but here he was here with a tiny redhead girl eating yogurt. He was living it up.
"So, what do you think that those girls over there are talking about. My guess is that they think that I'm giving you a pity date. Probably don't think that you are able to get one on your own."
"Isn't that what you are taking me on? You took pity on me because of Iz and now you and I are on a date. Sounds like a bit of pity date to me."
"Fine, it can be a pity date. I was just looking like it as two friends hanging out and an apology." He kept his head down.
"What are you to be sorry about? You haven't done anything by me in my book so why are you so worried."
"It's Kaelie, she is dead set on the idea of that you are trying to steal me away from her. Even if I did break things off with her about a week ago." I almost dropped my spoon on the floor.
"You broke things off with her? That might be why she has been so nasty to me over the past week."
"I can get her to back off, just say the word and consider it done. I told her to leave me and my friends alone when I broke it off."
"It is just things like snickering and pointing. Nothing more than what the average girl goes through during high school."
"Well I can tell you that it a bit more than just snickering."
"How?"
"Those girls over there are friends of Kaelie. So they are probably spying in on us right now. The one that winked when I walked in was Aline, Kaelie's right hand bitch."
"So what do you think they will tell Kaelie, that we were basically making out over frozen yogurt?"
"Knowing them, that is what they are going along the lines of. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a rumor that you and I were kisses going around in the next couple days."
"Anything that we could do to stop the rumor from going around. Honestly I am willing to pay any price."
"Well, head out to the bike and don't look inside. I'm going to fix this. Don't argue this with me, just sit on the bike and don't look it."
I walked out of the store and out to the bike. I tried to figure out a way to tuck my hair into the helmet by checking my reflection in the mirror. Only when something catching my eye. Jace was in the back of the store, making out with Aline.
I turned back away from the mirror, trying to see what I had just seen. I tried to look like I was keeping myself busy. He walked out to the bike as if nothing had happened, his hair and clothes were still perfect. I wonder what would happen if I was to tell him that I saw what had happened. He swung onto the bike without saying anything at all and pulled out of the lot.
The rest of the night was quiet as well. Jace went to bed without saying goodnight or changing out of his day clothes. I finished up the rest of my homework and headed in the same way as Jace, except I didn't even make it to bed. I fell asleep in the hallway.
Jace POV
I shouldn't of agreed to Alice's terms of not telling everyone that we were making out at a frozen yogurt shop. But if I didnt, even with all of the denying in the world, everyone would think that it actually happened. And Sebastian would be over Clary's case again, not to say that he wasn't already.
Kissing Aline was like kiss a dirty damp dish rag. I knew she went around with guys, almost with he a few times. Her lip gloss was sticky and smeared again my lips. And she likes to dive right in when it comes to using tongue. Like a frog trying to a frog.
I was ashamed, but I knew that it would keep her quiet for now. She would come back for more claiming for it to keep the secret down. 9 out of ten she will of forget the secret but will still want the kiss. I did it to protect Clary, everyone knew I was a manwhore. I didn't want for anyone of those traits to be in Clary's
I couldn't even face her like a man. Had it been some other girl, I would of been fine and not cared at all. But I just dug into my skin till I finally went to bed. Even then I had a bit of guilt in my dream. Everyone casting out her because the rumor had somehow slipped. Then it moved to bullying and her finally have a nervous breakdown. I saw every step as if I wasn't even there anymore, just a ghost watching over her shoulder. The pain was agonizing that I couldn't do anything.
I woke up before they could throw her into a mental hospital forever. She would of been permanently cut off from the world. I was clammy and I could almost feel my skin peeling back. I had made my bed damp with worry sweat that I have stirred up in my sleep.
I started to walk to the bathroom, but a rug of fire red curls blocked my way from doing so. She must of fallen asleep trying to get back to the room. I should of been awake so that I could of carried her and tucked her in her sheets. I was about to lift her up when I remembered that I was all sweaty, lets deal with this first.
So after scrubbing all visible skin almost as red as Clary's hair, changing out my clothes, I pick her up and carried her to her bed. Just getting her up was a change because she wedged herself into some odd yoga looking position. Strange, silly little girl. But she wasn't all that little of a girl.
I was about to pull away from her once I had her in her bed, she really didn't want let go of my neck which her hands had somehow found. "No, stay. It's so dark and cold by myself."
I didn't know if it was just her sleep talking but I wasn't going to reject it either way. And my bed was a bit filled with sweat right now. I folded myself against her wall and pulled her in. She spooned against my chest, arms fully extended in front of her. I slid over her and into those arms which wrapped around he while I wrapped mine around her. Paradise.
