There's No Way My Brother Can Be A Campione!
Summary: I can't believe this is happening to me...I am a perfectly ordinary high school boy well almost ordinary as I've been forced my my own sister to play little sister themed eroge...YET why am currently involved with something that came out of a fantasy anime!?
Disclaimer: I do not own Campione! or Oreimo

Chapter 2: There's No Way Gilgamesh Can Be Alive
A Campione—a godslayer—is a supreme ruler.
Since he can kill a celestial being, he can therefore call on the sacrosanct, divine powers wielded by the gods.
A Campione—a godslayer—is a lord.
Since the power to kill a deity is in his hands, he therefore looms over all mortals on Earth.
A Campione—a godslayer—is a devil.
Since of all mortals who live in the world, none can assume a power to match his!
"YES! EAT THAT BITCH!"
I gasped in horror as I realized what I did.
Let me explain, you see today is Friday just one day before the party that Kaoru-san invited me to. However once I got home I automatically began to play Siscaly without my sister's prodding.
Damn.
But I found out that there was an online mode you can play after you complete the main storyline, which to my guilty pleasure was what I was immersed in just now.
But to my great frustration I kept losing. Hell the only reason I was able to win in the main storyline was because I kept persevering and kept battling until I eventually won.
While online...the skills of other human players were definitely higher than mine.
The most frustrating part was that this bitch kept on challenging me over and over again. It was like she enjoyed stripping or something.
But...finally I managed to kick this bitch's ass.
BAM!
I looked at my door to see a red faced Kirino glaring at me.
"Don't think that just because you won once that it will happen again!"
BAM!
After saying that Kirino closed (more like slammed) the door...so the person who kept challenging me was Kirino!?
On one hand I'm ecstatic that I defeated her, on the other hand I was stripped by my sister over 20 times in a role...wait...that sounded wrong...
I really need to stop playing.
Exiting out of the game I closed the laptop lid. Didn't want my mother or worse my father to walk in and see the game on standby on my little sister's computer even if they already knew about my 'hobbies'.
The things I do for you Kirino...
Taking out the barley tea carton I poured myself a cup before putting it back in. Then I walked to the couch and turned on the TV. After all I needed a break from Siscaly, and going back to my room where I had nothing to do but the game was not a good idea.
Nothing much was on although there was something on the news concerning a wrong report on a Siscaly incident where the reporter didn't gather all the facts before publishing his article.
Other than that there was nothing much going.
Ding Dong~!
Huh? Who could it be?
Curious, I walked towards the door since dad was still at work and mom was out probably shopping or something.
It turned out that it was a delivery.
But what caught my attention was that it was for me and the sender was Kaoru-san.
Opening the long black box that was obviously high quality goods considering that there was an Armani label on it, a label even I who did not hold an interest in fashion knew about. I was surprised to find out a black suit along with a note.
Kousaka Kyousuke-san, although it is not required please wear this while attending the party. As you may have realized, this is an Armani brand suit that has been tailor made to fit you. As a Campione you can afford the most luxurious items with a snap of a finger. Please accept this as our, the History Compilation Committee's, gift to you although it may not be enough. Should you require anything else, we will use all our power to fulfill your wishes.
Sincerely,
Sayanomiya Kaoru
He's joking about it being tailor made to fit me right? I mean, that would mean he knew what size my body is!
And that's just creepy.
Well, I'll think about it later. Deciding to go back to my room I walked back upstairs and placed the box with my suit onto my desk.
I don't know what's sadder, the fact that the box with the suit is more expensive than anything I have combined or that the suit was the most stylishly thing I ever had.
I really need a job.
Why?
The only thing I have for entertainment was the stereo I had and the computer which my sister lent me and now even my clothes are given by someone else.
This is kind of pathetic even for me.
Before I knew it, Saturday was already here and I was preparing for the party.
I had already told my parents that I was invited to a high class party as thanks for saving a rich CEO's daughter in the incident earlier this week and that he was very pushy.
Looking into the mirror, the suit felt extremely out of place on a person like me. Really, this super expensive looking suit that Kaoru-san sent via mail is an Armani brand one. And not only that, it was even said to be tailor made!
...I don't even want to think of the implication of how they knew my size when even I didn't know myself after being reborn into a Campione.
Looking at myself mirror once more, I sighed at how out of place I looked in such a suit. No matter what angle I look at the mirror it was still the same.
And so with a sigh, I walked out of my room and down the stairs.
"Hahaha, Kyousuke that suit doesn't fit you at all."
'Gee, thanks mother. I can feel your love' I thought as I walked past my mother who laughed at me.
Thank god Kirino wasn't here or I don't know how she would've acted. But should I really say or even think 'thank God'? I mean I am their mortal enemy now.
I sat on the couch and glanced at the clock, 5:44. I still have a good 16 minutes before Kaoru-san will arrive.
With a sigh I plopped onto the sofa and began waiting for my ride.
It continued in silence as my mother started to prepare for dinner, since dinner was normally at 7 sharp. The dish she was planning to cook today was going to take longer than usual, hence why she had started to cook earlier.
Dad hadn't come home yet either. He's probably staying late working on some case again, although he does always arrive home before 7 unless something urgent came up in which case he would call home first to inform us.
Ding Dong~!
Just five minutes before 6 o'clock the doorbell rang. With a heavy heart I walked to the door and opened it.
"Hel-"
My mouth stopped, because in front of me was a dazzling woman wearing a scarlet dress with a single body strap over her left shoulder, a dress that hugged and accentuated her curves.
Her red hair was beautiful too; in fact it perfectly matched her dress.
Her face was also extremely beautiful; in fact it would not even lose to Kirino's or Ayase's. No, actually she would win hands down. Maybe Kirino would grow this beautiful one day, but...wait...
"YOU'RE A GIRL!?"
I couldn't help but point accusingly at her. I always thought that Kaoru-san was beautiful but because she always wore the suit whenever I saw her, I did not see her physical features that denoted a female.
Thinking back, I never checked if 'he' had an adam's apple either.
In response Kaoru-san held her hand to lips and chuckled rather cutely. Damn, now I'm self-conscious.
"Kyousuke don't suddenly just shout like that, you'll disturb the neighbors. Oh my!"
My mom, who had just seen Kaoru-san was with no doubt making an expression like me, absolutely stunned. Then my heart fell as a teasing smile grew on her face.
"My, my Kyousuke you have quite the girlfriend. And here I thought you were never going to get someone other than Manami-chan."
My face began to glow red, no I'm sure it was already red. Sometimes mom can be almost as bad as my sister.
"A pity she doesn't have glasses than she would've been per-"
"MOM!"
I yelled to stop her before she finished her final sentence. I take back what I previously said about her!
She is worse than Kirino!
"I'm going!"
Putting my self-consciousness aside, I pulled Kaoru-san's hand which was covered by a crimson satin glove all the way up her arm like a detached sleeve and went outside.
However, I stopped once more as I gawked at what was outside my house, possibly the world's longest limousine. Okay, maybe I was exaggerating a little.
"What, never seen a limo before?"
Kaoru-san, who had slipped out of my grasp during my shock, asked with a patronizing (?) tone.
"Not one this long."
It was true, that I would see an occasional limo when I walked the streets filled with cars, but never one as high class as this appeared. This one made all the others seem like cheap rip-offs!
"Well what are you waiting for Kyousuke-san?"
Kaoru-san asked as she walked inside the limo. Yep, definitely not normal.
With a sigh I too walked inside the limo and sat down next to Kaoru-san while thanking the chauffeur who seemed to beam at my acknowledgement.
"Umm, Kaoru-san why are you dressed like that though?"
"Why? Can't I wear a dress?"
"No, I just mean that you seemed to be the type that prefers to wear men's clothing."
Prefer? You practically wear them all the time judging from how at ease you were in them. Speaking of which how did you hide your breast in those clothing?
...BAD Kyousuke stop thinking about that right now.
Okay, Kyousuke.
...I'm arguing with myself in my head...great, that is becoming very normal alright.
"True, I'll admit to that. Well the reason isn't too hard to figure out, it's because I'm your escort for the night."
"Escort?"
"Yes, as you've only been introduced to the magical side of the world quite recently, it is my job to inform you and help you navigate through all the other mages."
"That reminds me, I still have the book you gave me. I'll give it back next time."
"Don't worry about it, it's yours to keep."
Really? It looked really old and expensive though.
It wasn't much longer until I found myself staring at the mansion before me. It wasn't necessarily an old Japanese mansion but the Japanese ancestry behind the design of the three story building was obvious. I could see cherry blossoms that were still in bloom surrounding the road despite it still being summer. Must be because of magic…
The inside was just as luxurious as the outside indicated it to be. The walls were lightly colored and pleasing to the eyes, inside various jade decorations littered the halls. I was sure there was more but before I had any chance to explore Kaoru-san led me towards the large almost western styled doors and into a luxurious ballroom.
The inside was undoubtedly modeled after the western ballrooms with a grand chandelier, marble tiles, a feast on tables, and various gold lined furniture.
Inside were people of varying age groups, almost each and every one of them had an elite air about them. The males generally wore suits, while the females wore mostly kimonos and some were even in priestess garbs.
Mikos maybe?
All talking hushed as soon as I took my first step into the room.
All eyes turned and gazed upon me.
Without putting forth any kind of resistance, I let Kaoru-san lead me towards the center of the room, unfortunately though everyone still kept their gaze on me and frankly it was beginning to annoy me.
The annoyance must have showed on my face because shortly after thinking that everyone averted their eyes from me and before long conversation was running amuck once more but not with the same vigor I heard from earlier behind the doors but rather in a hushed and subdued manner.
"Kaoru-san, why do they keep glancing at me? I know I'm a Campione now but this behavior is too strange to be considered normal right?"
Kaoru-san just smiled mysteriously at me. "It cannot be helped your majesty, at your present state no one will be able to ignore you."
"Hmmm what do you mean? And didn't I tell you to call me Kyousuke?"
"I'm afraid I'll have to disobey that order your majesty. Campiones are beings to be respected and feared. However, if we have a closer relationship it would not be strange for me to talk to you in such an informal manner."
"Closer relationship?"
I asked confusedly at what Kaoru-san was hinting at.
"A lover."
I could already feel my face heat up at Kaoru-san's words, her eyes danced with amusement unhindered by the soft smile she had on her face.
At least for me, the atmosphere became very awkward as I ate the food I took from the tables. The long tables were filled with exotic and luxurious dishes in a buffet manner that I couldn't help but take some even in this situation.
Of course there were servers throughout the hall that carried drinks and appetizers on plates with one hand like all other high class parties.
"Lord Gilgamesh, I thank you for gracing us with your presence tonight."
Eventually one of the people within the ballroom walked towards me and introduced himself. I tried to say something but didn't know what to say, so eventually Kaoru-san spoke in my place while I just nodded at confirmation on some of her words.
I didn't know what half the things she was talking about but it seemed to be the right thing to do at the moment.
Afterwards the man left, quite quickly I might add.
"Fufu, your majesty really has no clue what you have just done have you?"
Kaoru-san said with an extremely amused voice, making me very perplexed. "What do you mean Kaoru-san?"
"Your majesty, I'm sure it hasn't sunken in yet, but even your smallest actions could be interpreted in the most horrible way possible. Since Campiones are naturally harbingers of chaos such an approach is wise for us mortals. That man was one of the country's best sword master, whose based on his sword skills alone could rival Luo Hao's martial arts, and he was...how should I say it...cowed by your silence."
What!?
"What...how?"
My brain couldn't comprehend it, how could my silence just do that to someone.
"Easy, he interpreted your silence as your dissatisfaction towards him for having the audacity to introduce himself or even being within your presence."
"You have got to be kidding me..."
Shaking her head, Kaoru-san's eyes stared right into mine without the hint of amusement from before.
"This is no joke your majesty. With a single action, a Campione can elevate or doom another person forever. That person that you cowed, if he wasn't in such a high position as he was, his career as a swordmaster within the History Compilation Committee would have ended right there. People would have stopped associating with him; his allies would leave him because no one wants to get onto a Campione's bad side. Even a simple smiled depending on who the Campione is could elevate a mere apprentice to a head of a department. That's how influential the smallest of your actions now are."
I stared gobsmacked at Kaoru-san's words, at some scale I understood but at another I didn't.
For the rest of the night, no one dared to introduce themselves unless Kaoru-san introduced us first.
The party progressed peacefully, nothing like what Kaoru-san hinted to me at all.
But that all changed within a single second.
It took me a second to recognize that the loud booming noise came from the walls collapsing, or rather more accurately exploding.
Using the chaos as a cover were at least dozens of people, each wearing a variation of what seemed like ancient clothing, several even had full knight's armor on!
Responding as fast as the intruders that came in were the people attending the party who confronted them by blocking their advance while several others backed off.
There were many attendees who carried swords and used them to such a degree that it could be called the highest quality of arts. But what caught my attention the most were the magic being casted by them.
I assumed they were magic for there could not be any other word to describe the feats they were performing.
Energy like balls being blasted back and forth, a surge of white fire, freezing waters, and streaks of lightning...it was chaos.
I was supposed to be king over this!?
I could only stare dumbstruck as I began to doubt my validity as a Campione. Maybe it was just a side effect and that I didn't really become a Campione...maybe...
I know that Campiones have high magic resistance to the point that conventional magic don't work on them, but I really didn't want to test being on the receiving end after seeing the crazy magic that was being thrown around here.
"Look out Kyousuke!"
Turning to my left I saw Kaoru-san shouting at me and staring at me...no it was behind me.
Feeling my body tense up I quickly turned around to see what was it that made her so afraid and I received my answer.
A large hydra made of pure flames.
I could only stare in fear as the largest head made its way towards me, even someone like me who had just seen magic for the first time could understand that the colossal hydra was a high-class magic that only a select few could use.
Crossing my arms in an 'X' like fashion I closed my eyes and prayed for the best. I could feel the heat as the hydra came nearer and nearer. It was only going to moments before it roasted me alive now...
1 second passed...
3 seconds passed
5 seconds passed...
10 seconds passed...
Realizing that I only felt a slight increase in temperature, I slowly opened my eyes to inquire why the flame hydra hadn't roasted me alive yet.
"Wha!?"
I cried out as I realized that I was engulfed in an inferno by the flame hydra, yet I wasn't burning up or even being singed.
Looking around, I realized that Kaoru-san had already escaped from the attack, while I stood there like an idiot.
At another glance around the battlefield, I could see that the others were still fighting and some where even outside the flame trying to put it out with water or dirt, I'm not really sure as fire isn't exactly transparent.
I guess I should act at now?
With this thought I began my invocation for my authority.
[For I am the earth, sea, and the heavens itself all who live are my subjects]
[For I am the true king of all]
[All others are false]
[For that I am all powerful, all knowing, and righteous]
[For I am the God-King!]
Instantly, I felt a new rush of energy and adrenaline flowing into my body. However at the same time I felt the world slow in front of me as if I happened to turn on some super mode where I began to have an increased apprehension for my surroundings.
Looking around I could see nothing that would make me feel ...vulnerable. Well it was more accurate to say nothing should make me feel vulnerable now like a moment ago...but...my instinct told me there was still something here.
[For I am the true, the ruler of the world all things are mine.]
[Your soul, your heart, your body]
[Your victory, your sadness, your joy]
[And your glory]
[I carry them all]
[Open]
[Gate of Babylon!]
SNAP!
A ripple of golden light appeared behind me and out of it shot forth a majestic halberd towards one of the undamaged walls.
All fighting stopped as everyone looked at me, but I did not and would not care while I stared hard at the broken wall.
Hmmm…
Was it my hallucination? I thought for sure that there was someone there.
"Impressive, so you're ascension to a Campione was no mere fluke for you to be able to sense me."
Just as I was about to turn around someone spoke and a radiant light shone through as he walked through the damaged wall.
But that voice was exactly like his, the haughtiness, his face, his inhumane scarlet eyes. Gilgamesh walked through the damaged wall.
But unlike before he wasn't wearing the golden armor I've seen last week but even less than before with his chest and arms bared while donning half a cape around his waist along with a pair of majestic golden blades on the back of his shoulders.
His hair and attire may be slightly different, but I was sure that he was Gilgamesh...the same one from a week ago.
Pointing my finger accursedly at him I shouted. "How are you still alive? Didn't I kill you already?!"
In response to my proclamation, the god before me cocked his head back before chuckling.
"That was my other half."
"Other...half?"
"Yes, we were the same god summoned at the same time but as different manifestation of the same legend."
"Then why are you here? To pay me back for what I did to your other half?"
I didn't quite get it but it could be because I killed the other Gilgamesh right? So...
"You're here for revenge aren't you?"
"Revenge?"
The Gilgamesh in front of said in a confused tone before chuckling and it wasn't long before it evolved into full-blown laughter. I don't get it, was it something I said?
"Revenge? Don't get full of yourself mongrel!"
Yep, definitely the same god.
"I just wanted to see who was it that was able to kill my other half."
At that note, the two swords that were hung vertically on his shoulders switched into a horizontal position so that the handles could be seen poking out of his front where Gilgamesh's hand took hold of them and drew them out.
"And so far, it's been ridiculously disappointing. Come."
Gilgamesh said as he held out his arm with the "come" motion I often see in movies.
"Let me see the Campione that was able to defeat my other half."
It was irrational, inconceivable, abnormal...but my blood began to boil as I felt it coursing through my veins.
I did not know the feeling welling up from within my chest but my brain told me I would not like it.
My eyes widened in fear as I clenched my heart and jumped back. It seems that I was lucky since Gilgamesh appeared right where I stood earlier with a downward slash demolishing the ground into a crevice where his sword swung.
I'm supposed to fight this!? Compared to all the magic from before, using a simple swing to create such a large crevice within the ground was much more terrifying.
"I've grown tired of waiting, come! Don't tell me you killed my other half just by standing there. Though knowing him, his arrogance was probably what had gotten him killed."
This was beyond scary! It seems that I have to keep my distance or else it's all over!
With another leap backwards, I summoned tens upon tens of ripples from which weapons of all shapes launched towards Gilgamesh.
I did not know which to be more impressed at. The fact that my projectiles demolished the land far more than Gilgamesh's swing or the fact that Gilgamesh was parrying all the projectiles with his pair of swords like nothing!
Each and every swing misdirected a sword, halberd, spear, dao, jian, and many more. He ignored all those that would not have hit him as he charged through the storm of weapons.
[Those who stand against my rule are non-existent!]
[For I am the strongest, the wisest, and noblest of them all]
Reciting those words the number of ripples I controlled increased by tenfold as a golden glow covered my right hand. I filled my weapons with as much energy I could muster and directed them towards Gilgamesh with my hand.
Don't ask me how I knew how to do that, I just did. Kinda like instinct you know?
Gilgamesh was visibly annoyed as ten orbs of golden light began to spin behind him and weapons came out to block out those from my authority.
"Kuh! Is that it, you coward! Are you going to stand there and attack me from a far!"
Hearing that I felt a sense of dread as Gilgamesh's body was covered in a golden glow and at the same time I felt my own control over the Gate of Babylon weaken to when it was before I added the spell words that increased its power.
"Wha!? How!?"
I could not keep my voice from being surprised at what happened, I mean who would. A Campione's power came from his authority, a god-magic that others could not control!
"I told you before! The god you killed was another manifestation of me! As such we are linked making us two parts that make up a whole. You can say that I am half a god while you are half a Campione!"
While saying those words he charged straight at me with inhuman speed, my weapons that were a hindrance before became totally useless as he used his ten orbs to absorb or knock down my projectiles.
"How disappointing!"
Gilgamesh said as he raised his sword above his head and brought it down.
I need armor, indestructible armor enough to withstand this!
Responding to my thoughts, gold particles materialized from the Gate of Babylon and covered me to solidified and become the same exact armor that the first Gilgamesh I encountered wore, the same exact one I imagined mere milliseconds ago.
Sparks flew as Gilgamesh's sword clashed against the chest armor.
"Good, it seems you can still continue even if you are only on the defensive! Come on! Entertain me more!"
Saying those words, Gilgamesh's strikes increased in power as both his swords were clashing against me while I tried to block them with my hands.
Let's just say that I am very thankful for this armor otherwise I'd be bleeding to death with how unsuccessful I was at blocking his attacks.
Thinking that this couldn't continue any longer, the attacks from the Gate of Babylon that had closed (and stopped) when I summoned my golden armor opened once more and rained swords towards my opponent.
However unlike last time I couldn't increase their power like I wanted and I knew why when I looked at Gilgamesh's infuriating grin.
Hoping for a weapon that could knock him away for some breathing room, I reached back towards one of the golden ripples and pulled out a...knife?
You have got to be kidding!? How am I supposed to knock him back with this puny knife!?
But beggars couldn't be choosers, so I filled it with my energy and tried to cut Gilgamesh apart but it was stopped by one of his swords striking the bottom of my arms.
To my surprise, an immensely strong gust of wind burst forward from the knife's edge blowing Gilgamesh back. Taking this as a blessing, I continued to supply energy into the knife and swung it several more times at Gilgamesh.
The wind slashes however weren't strong enough as it only gave shallow cuts to which Gilgamesh smiled even more with increased bloodlust etching onto his features.
But what annoyed me the most was that my Gate of Babylon's numerous projectiles were still being deflected by his ten golden orbs!
Raising my hand into the air I focused on my chant once more to search for a weapon capable of cleaving him in half this time.
[I am Gilgamesh, the only king this world needs]
[I rule each and every aspect of my domain, the world]
[So come forth my mighty weapon that cleaves and sheers all!]
Immediately, a golden orb of at least two meters wide in diameter appeared at my feet and began ascending. While ascending a handle appeared from the bottom that did not stop until it was at my shoulder, and then the hilt appeared.
At this point I did not care anymore at the absurdity before me, even when this sword was about 15 meters long.
The blade was black with a silver edge while the end of the hilt was a golden pommel. It looked to be a sword made for a giant or just a humongously large sized god.
I didn't care anymore as I grasped the blade with both hands and swung at Gilgamesh who was standing there with a golden ring invocating his authority.
"HRAHHHHHH!"
With a war cry I brought the sword parallel to the ground and swung it will all my might.
The mansion, which had about one portion of the walls demolished along with a few holes, was now a standing wreck as all the walls came down from the force of my swing.
I was sure that I hit Gilgamesh with it, but my instincts told me that he was just fine.
Although I took my surroundings in quickly I still could not find him anywhere, but on a side note I could not see anyone else either. I guess it was kind of careless for me to duke it out with a god while I was surrounded by other people.
At the very least though, I think I have a chance now.
It was faint at first, but quickly the rumbling on the ground grew into an earthquake worth and before I knew it, a geyser shot out from the ground...no not just one but dozens of them came up around me!
"GRasdjkasdhlakjdha"
The water came crashing down onto me and I was sent tumbling from the currents (?) as my eyes began to blur. But even then I could still faintly see the ground which was at the very least tens of meters away!
Seriously how do you create a flood on dry land and especially one that was over ten meters deep! I tried waiting for the water to calm down but no matter how long I waited it didn't seem to stop and out of the corner of my eyes I could catch glimpses of a golden figure above the surface of the water.
Gilgamesh must have been controlling it!
A golden and emerald ark materialized in a burst of golden light next to me and shot forwards towards the sky with me latching onto it.
"Puah!"
I gasped as I desperately sucked in the breathtaking oxygen of the air after being freed from the water prison of Gilgamesh.
Finally getting a good chance to look at what I was riding, I marveled at its design, it was a sleek and beautiful ark with emerald wings, as well as a throne or pilot chair situated near the end. But now was not a good time to be impressed at an ark but rather the attention towards a certain God.
Looking over the edge, I saw Gilgamesh standing upon an altar-like monument built from solid water.
It wasn't quite ice but neither could it be water either.
"So you even summoned the Vimana! As expected from a Campione, when you defeated my other half you took most of the treasures I owned, but do not think for one moment you won because of that!"
Concluding with those words, Gilgamesh spread his arms to his limit and at that signal, drills of water immediately shot towards me.
Dodge!
Those were my thoughts and the Vimana (as it was called by Gilgamesh) immediately reacted and moved out of the way while at the same time almost throwing me off due to the surprise. But thankfully I latched onto the throne quick enough to avoid that.
If I was a normal human I would have probably been dead due to the amount of G-force exerted on me thanks to the unconventional movement the Vimana took to avoid Gilgamesh's water attack.
Looking back, I witnessed Gilgamesh connect his 2 swords into an arrow by the pommel of his blades and a string of light appeared as he pulled it back.
My instincts screamed to stop his attack and I obeyed.
Jumping off the Vimana with all my might I used the Gate of Babylon to summon its strongest sword, in fact I doubt I could even call it a sword, it was just a drill with red markings. I just held my weapon in both hands and brought it down upon Gilgamesh with all my might.
On a side note, I am insane for jumping off the Vimana when I was at least a thousand feet in the air.
Yep, definitely insane.
"HRAHHH!"
To my confusion though, Gilgamesh shot the arrow made of golden energy onto the ground just before I brought my sword down upon him.
Despite the weapon's cylindrical shape, it obviously had done a lot of damage despite not having an edge.
However even on the ground kneeling Gilgamesh was smiling victoriously.
"I win"
Those words sent chills down my spine as well as a different emotion I couldn't quite identify, but I knew I had to finish him off before something else happened.
I began to push energy into the weapon making it spin madly with crimson light, faster and faster it spun. I should have unleashed it but before I could, something came crashing down from above.
Looking up, I saw a giant golden spiral like spear directly above me, looking back down I saw Gilgamesh smiling victoriously at me.
Desperately, I swung my weapon as quick as I could but it was far too late as I felt the tip come crashing down.
Pain, excruciating pain was all I felt as I felt my face eat dirt once more just like the time I faced the first Gilgamesh.
I couldn't breathe, but I couldn't just lay here like this otherwise I really would die!
With this resolution, I tried to gather strength in my arms once more.
It was strange, I couldn't feel my legs and I knew why when I looked back. I was bottomless...I had lost the lower half of my body to the golden spear that came down from the sky.
"I enjoyed our battle, but it ends now."
Looking upwards, I saw the tip of Gilgamesh' sword pointing at my face and I looked up defiantly at him.
"Tell me Campione, what is your name?"
"Gilgamesh!"
I may be about to die, but...I rather enjoyed the shock look on the god's face
"...ahahaha...AHAHAHAHAHA... a fine name, one that is worthy of battling me!"
Are you crazy!? It's obvious I'm just using your name to spite you!
"I-"
Blood gushed from my mouth preventing me from talking but raising my sword I glared defiantly at him.
In response Gilgamesh's eyes sparkled at my actions as if finding joy in them.
"I admire your spirit but...I win!"
He raised his sword up as he prepared to kill me... but...I still had two words left for him.
[Enuma Elish!]
Crimson energy burst forward like a torrent as it engulfed Gilgamesh towards the sky.
I don't think anyone couldn't see it as it streamed line through the sky and tore through it. But even so Gilgamesh stood in front of me laughing as his skin was being seared off and his muscle exposed. He laughed.
"AHAHAHAAHA, you got me Campione! No...Gilgamesh! I did not think you still had the energy to perform such a feat, I admit defeat. But know this, for defeating me and taking up my name you must never lose! Not even at the most simplest thing, because you are now king! King of the Gods!"
With those last words, Gilgamesh disappeared into dust and was blown away by my attack.
You got to be kidding, who wants to bear such a burden! I'm just an ordinary high school student...
Waking up, I saw white...no it wasn't a white ceiling but rather white emptiness that stretched on forever.
Sitting up, I looked around only to find nothing.
"Hey, call me momma!"
I jumped at the sudden voice behind me. Thinking that it was an enemy, I summoned the sword that I used to defeat the second Gilgamesh, Ea.
But to my surprise, it was only a teenaged girl shorter than Kirino staring at me. I guess you could consider her a beauty with her violet hair, slender body, unblemished skin, but...she had pointed ears.
"Who are you?"
I finally asked after a long silence.
"I'm Pandora, your mother."
I just stared. I read in the book Kaoru-san gave me that Campiones could be considered the bastard son of Prometheus and as the wife of Prometheus, Pandora could be considered our stepmother but I never expected to actually meet her!
"So... are you a heretic god?"
"Nope! I'm a true goddesses because we're in the Netherworld right now."
To explain, the Netherworld is a place where souls go and without any magical protection few could go there unprepared. Gods and Campiones were among those that could. On a side note, those heretic gods that have calmed down now reside here too.
Wait..wouldn't that mean that Pandora is a heretic goddess and that I...
"Wait you mean I died!?"
"No, your body is in the process of completing the process of becoming a campione at the moment so I pulled you here. I wanted to pull you here earlier but couldn't because you were only half a campione."
"Gilgamesh mentioned that too. What did he mean?"
"That's easy. Because when Gilgamesh was summoned something went wrong and two versions of him were summoned. Naturally this had on effect on him causing him to be incomplete. That was also why you only became half a campione since both Gilgamesh were only parts of the same god."
Seriously!? The second Gilgamesh was much nicer and courteous than the first, although both of them were equally haughty. Ugh...the more I think about it, the more likely it seemed that I was even starting to like the second one!
"So what did that mean for me?"
"Nothing much except that you weren't exactly stable."
That seemed like a lot!
"You already saw it but Gilgamesh could control your authorities to a certain extent, and that was a side effect because of your connection."
"Did any other Campione have to go through this!?"
I asked exasperatedly. It seemed that I have really bad luck even among the super 'lucky' campiones.
"Nope, but you get benefits too!"
Doubt must have shown on my face because Pandora started talking again.
"Campione only get one authority from the god they defeat, but thanks to the split you got two. Gate of Babylon and Disposition of the God-King!"
Really, I was starting to wonder why I had two of them but...
"Does this change anything, I mean you said I wasn't stable what about now!?"
"Don't worry you have fully stabilized and in fact your authorities are now complete."
"What do you mean complete?"
This day has just been riddled with questions...
"I mean your authorities weren't at full power and you didn't have the full grasp of them. For example you didn't know the names of the treasures within the Gate of Babylon. What about now?"
What about now. Of course I don't...I stared at the sword at my hand. When I used it against Gilgamesh I didn't even know about the name but now I knew it was called Ea, a sword forged from a meteorite. Not only that but other treasures that I have used too.
"So you said that I'm not dead, then how am I here?"
"Because I summoned you, although you won't remember this."
While saying this, Pandora gave a carefree smile that made me really nervous. Losing memories is not a trivial thing!
"Why-"
Before I could finish, I felt a fog clouding my thoughts as everything began to become blurry.
"It seems our times is up, but come visit me when you can!"
You have got to be kidding me!
Waking up, I felt like something was missing but at the moment I couldn't care less as I stood amongst the rubble that used to be a mansion. Various rocks that used to be a part of the ground or building lined the earth and not to mention the ground still suffered from the aftermath of a flood.
I can now see why Campione are called harbingers of destruction now.
"Are you alright Kyousuke-san?"
Looking to my left I saw Kaoru-san, however she wasn't in her dress anymore but rather a red suit with black leather gloves.
"Yeah, I think."
Looking down at my feet I realized that I was now topless, but thankfully my legs were still covered to give me a bit of decency.
"Shit!"
"Is something wrong Kyousuke-san!?"
"Well I kinda ruined the suit. It must have been expensive."
Damn, I don't think I can pay this back.
"Don't worry about that Kyousuke-san, I'll take care of it."
"Really!? Thanks!"
Saying that I felt more refreshed but another thought occurred to me.
"But what about all of this?"
I asked as I gestured towards all the destruction.
"Don't worry about that too, the History Compilation Committee will take care of the aftermath. In fact the damages weren't as bad as we originally thought it would be."
Seriously, you considered this not as bad as you thought? What did you think would happen!? Whatever I don't care anymore.
"Kaoru-san is it fine if I leave now, I'm feeling really tired right now."
"Of course, Kyousuke-san. Would you like me to prepare a ride?"
"No, that's fine."
Snapping my fingers I summoned the Vimana once more and got on before riding off towards my house.
It was really fast, I don't think any jet planes or even prototype planes could compete with it and before I knew it I already arrived home.
Although I did use up more time than neccessary due to how fast I was going and the unfamiliar roads.
It was way past midnight so I quietly slipped through the front door with my keys. Thank god they were in my pants or else I would have to ring the doorbell and they would no doubt question me about what had occurred thanks to my current attire.
Once I made it into my room I quickly changed into my pajamas, I say pajamas but it was really only shorts and a t-shirt.
Slipping under the bed covers I embraced sleep before I could think of anything else.
The next day Kirino wouldn't talk to me for some reason...
Well, the less she talks to me the less trouble I'll have.
On another note, when Kaoru-san said she'd take care of the suit problem she meant sending me ten more suits...
My mother questioned me intensely on our relationships shortly afterwards...
It was defintely not my day, hell Kirino even kicked me in the shin for no reason! Although it was her foot that was hurting from it. Ha!
Right now I was simply relaxing on the couch, drinking barley tea, and watching the news.
"Breaking News! It is advised that residents within the listed area are to stay inside and to avoid coming into such areas as yesterday night a hole in the ozone layer mysteriously appeared after what we named as the red light incident.
It is also speculated by scientist that a comet entered the earth's atmosphere while spewing red light that caused this incident and the hole within the ozone layer.
Scientist say that they may have just discovered a new type of meteor.
Yeah...I spewed out the tea in my mouth.
Author's Note:
Originally I wanted Kyousuke to not know the contents within the Gate of Babylon, but it made it so much more harder to write when I have to have Kyousuke figure out their uses so I made it like this.
Hopefully the fight was sufficient. Writing two godlike figures fighting is much more harder than you than writing someone with much weaker skills like in Naruto or Sword Art Online.
Also the scenes in Campione! LN are much longer...I should focus on lengthening the battle or the battle prequel
After this chapter it will finally be Kyousuke's peaceful life full of interaction with Kirino...NOT!
Trouble is never far from campione although it isn't always about a god.
Still Kyousuke will have some semblance of normal life.
Beta Note:
Hey everyone! Sorry for the late beta, I've got finals going on this month so it would be slow beta-ing for me. Sorry!
Anyone surprised at the fact that Kaoru was a girl?
Pop Quiz: what does enuma elish translate into in english?
Kaiserblak:...that's a very good question. While we're talking about that the sword that Kyousuke used is Gilgamesh's unique weapon from Fate/Stay Night. The sword itself is called Ea: Sword of Rupture and its activation phrase is Enuma Elish
I can't wait to see Kyousuke's peaceful life :P Time for more Ayase hehe
