Dovewing strolled through the woods with her new apprentice Icepaw, who was Lionblaze and Cinderheart's kit and had a stone and icy gaze that matched her brain, but Dovewing couldn't help but stifle a laugh when she remembered the expression the she-kit had when Bramblestar had made Darkpaw an apprentice a moon earlier then her as punishment for the time she put fire ants in the Clan leader's moss.
"What are you laughing at?" Icepaw sneered at her mentor. The punishment must be causing this foul behavior.
"Oh. The day I saw Darkpaw fall into the lake."
Icepaw looked at her mentor with astonishing eyes. Did she hear correctly? That her mentor also found joy in the events of Darkpaw?
"What's so interesting here Dovewing?" Asked Darkpaw as he and his mentor, Bumblestripe appeared next to him. He purposely left out Icepaw and looked at his mentor with curious eyes.
"Wha-Oh! What a nice surprise. Hello Dovewing and Icepaw." Bumblestripe stuttered as he looked at the she-cat with warm eyes.
The striped cat had ignored Dovewing as much as he could throughout the moons, in fear that the mention of his name would give her pain. The she-cat however was the curious cat she is. She question all her Clan-mates about the strange cat. She discovered that he was made a warrior a couple of moons before her.
Dovewing blushed and nodded shyly.
"How are you this fine evening?"
"Well. Apart from the fact that our apprentices are excited enough to behave WITH each other and that we just got our first apprentices I think it's pretty good."
He gave a nod of approvement as they at watching the apprentices play fight with each other using their new tactics and skills.
"Let all those old enough to catch their own prey gather around the High rock for a Clan Meeting." Yowled Bramblestar from the camp.
Since the Training Area was near the camp, the mentors and warriors in training stopped their activities and races back to camp.
"As you all know, Squirellflight is now pregnant and is going to be moving to the nursery and I would need to assign a temporary deputy." He beamed with pride as he mentioned that he was going to be a father. He then announced,"Lionblaze will be my temporary deputy."
"Lionblaze! Lionblaze! Lionblaze!" The crowd roared with approval and excitement.
The leader waved his tail and gained back the attention from the crowd of cats. "Today is also the Gathering and I have already announced the warriors and apprentices coming yesterday. I want good behavior from every cat. Now we are leaving. Squirellflight will be in charge until I get back."
The clearing of cats dispersed as cats spread to their jobs. The group of cats going to the Gathering were sitting near the entrance waiting for the final cats that were yet to come.
"Hey, Darkpaw! Stop hitting on Sunpaw. And Icepaw stop ignoring Darkpaw." scolded Bumblestripe and Lionblaze. Lionblaze sighed and nudged Icepaw closer to the apprentices as she gave a frown of annoyance. She quickly stood up and made a run to catch up to her mentor instead. 'Why can't Icepaw behave like a normal apprentice?' Lionblaze sighed and listened to the conversation behind them. 'But my siblings weren't really considered normal anyways.'
"Hey Sunpaw! Just before the meeting I caught a bird the size of a squirrel. I was going to just take that back to camp before I picked up the scent of another thrush! It was only a few tail lengths away from my spot." Darkpaw said triumphantly to Sunpaw. Sunpaw however just half listened to the story. She was too busy glancing at Pinepaw. Pinepaw glanced at her and gave her a small smile. She blushed and ducked her head.
Icepaw glanced behind her and saw the three apprentices talking happily together. She sighed, if only they understood her pain. The pain of secrets were held heavily in her paws. The secret to the distrust between the clans.
Sorry for late chapter because of my schoolwork. I also want to ask if everyone will join my poll. It is open to the public!
