Wow – 2 years since I last updated this story, I'm so sorry!
Anyway it's the easter holidays (well nearly finished but still) so I decided to go through and update all of my stories on the site...here goes.

"Are you sure you're okay? I can get Karl to check you again before we go" Susan checked, helping Zeke out of his hospital bed.

"No no I'm fine" he assured her "Just wanna get home you know?"

The woman nodded with a soft smile as she picked up his bag and held the door open for him.

...

Ringo and Declan were stood out in the hall peering into Donna's room.

"How is she?" Zeke questioned, limping over to them

They both turned, and smiled at the boy
"Hey, you're up!" Declan stated, patting his shoulder "Going home?"

Zeke nodded "Yeah, can't wait either"

"Well some of us aren't so lucky" Ringo sighed, resting his forehead against the glass.

Susan placed a calming hand on his back
"I'm sure she'll wake up soon" she said gently

"She better, I kinda miss her wacky attitude" Declan joked, nudging Ringo jokingly.

The group moved to one side, allowing Donna's nurse to slip past them so she could do her daily checks.

"We best be off-" Susan was cut short by a cry from behind them.

Everyone turned to see Rachel launch herself at her brother, and he winced, although a smile stretched across his lips.

"You're coming home!" the girl squealed "Oh and don't worry, we've stocked up on all your favourite ice cream flavours..."

Rachel trailed off at the reflection of Ringo's downcast face through the glass
"How's she doing?"

Declan patted his friend on the back, turning to her
"Still nothing" he told her quietly, with a weak smile.

...

Just after Susan had taken Rachel and Zeke home, Bridget turned up clutching a large stuffed kangaroo.

"It's like the one she gave to Sunny, remember?"

Ringo and Declan nodded
"Yeah, she'll love it Didge" Ringo whispered, eyes still on his girlfriend.

A nurse came up beside them, gently tapping Ringo on the arm
"You can go in now" she said "I'm sure Donna would love to hear some familiar voices"
"She's awake?" Declan asked, narrowing his eyes through the window.

"Not yet, but sometimes familiarities can bring a person round quicker"

With that, she strode off down the hallway to check on other patients.

...

Bridget placed the kangaroo in the corner of the room, before taking a seat on the edge of the bed.
"Do you really think she can hear us?"

"That's what the nurse said" Declan shrugged turning to Ringo "Aren't you gonna say anything mate?"

The boy bowed his head and sighed "I-I don't know how"
"How to what?"
"How to tell her what I need to"

Bridget and Declan exchanged a confused glance
"Well what do you wanna tell her?" she asked gently

Ringo looked up at his girlfriend, tracing her hand with his fingers.
"I wanna tell her that I love her, and that I'm here for her, and that she needs to wake up so I can see her beautiful eyes...I wanna promise her that I'll never let her get hurt again, and that she mean more to me than anyone else in the world"

As he was saying this, Donna's fingers outstretched, and brushed against his, making him jump.

"Did you see that?" Ringo demanded, stumbling backwards
"Yeah!" Declan laughed, a grin on his face
"I'll go get the nurse" Bridget cried, running from the room.

Ringo leant down, pressing a kiss to his girlfriends forehead just as Didge returned, several doctors in tow.

"Looks like we're ready to wake up" they confirmed.
