Inner Me
MEETING ME-TWO
Leon and Ada stood on the red emergency lift as it plummeted down to the floor below. Ada sighed. She couldn't have believed her eyes when she entered the cell block and discovered Ben like that. Covered in blood dead on the floor. And with Leon kneeling besides him. She knew that Leon had saw it happen but, she didn't want to pressure him into speaking about it. She was secretive, devious and unfeeling at times. But, she knew when to press and when not.
Instead, she walked to the other side of the Ben and read the two documents that had incriminated Chief Irons, the ones Ben had given Leon. She stood and started to walk off but, Leon had stopped her as she attempted to leave. So, Ada had made an excuse about looking for her boyfriend... The key to being a great spy was to always stick to your story and she left. But, it didn't last to long because, Ada had made her way to the sewer opening when, they ran into each-other. And, they had been co-operating since then.
So, as the two advanced through the sewer access they came to a lift and they slowly descended. But, when they reached the floor below they found a surprising thing amidst the hall. A woman stood there tall and fair. With shoulder length hair and murky blue eyes. She wore a lab coat over a black tank top and beige jeans. She twisted her head around to look at the two, then she bolted. Running down the hallway and turning a the first turn out. Ada ran for her against her better judgement. Even as Leon called out for her to wait.
Why? Why did she run for the estranged woman without thinking? It was an impulse one that would prove to be quite possibly fatal. But, not for Ada. The woman stopped in the middle of the corridor she was in and held a gun up and aimed for Ada. But, she missed. Well, she was a scientist and not a soldier. But, the next shot she fired was a perfect shot. Ada flinched awaiting the stinging pain of a gunshot wound but, instead she was flung towards the floor and tossed to cover. Ada had neatly escaped a gunshot and it was all thanks to the heroics of Leon. However, the bullet didn't disappear. No, it was absorbed by Leon's chest cavity.
Ada looked down at her savior and saw the blood leaking thorough his police uniform. Ada knelt beside him and looked into his pure, unusual kind eyes now, ridden with pain. But, not regret. Ada was always good at reading people. By body language, terminology and through their eyes. Eyes are the window to the soul and all that. But, for some reason she couldn't see that he regretted taking a bullet for her. She would have blushed, she would have smiled if it were not for her persona. The femme-fatale never shares her emotions. That would be letting your guard down.
"Leon! That woman was..." Ada knew what she was. She was a scientist who was associated with William Birkin. The man responsible for the outbreak. "I need to talk to her." She said as she walked away from him and down the hallway. She reached a huge door and advanced forward. She finally reached the actual sewer but, so did the strange woman. She saw the woman run off in the sewers. And, soon Ada followed her.
Ada stepped down the ladder and stepped further into the sewers. But, as she walked a bullet flew towards her and hit her gun causing the asian woman to drop it. Wasn't such a bad shot after all, Ada thought.
"Don't move." The woman stated as she stepped towards Ada. "You're the one with that cop if I'm not mistaken. Identify yourself." The woman spoke calmly as she aligned her gun closer to Ada's face.
"Ada. Ada Wong." Ada stated proudly.
"Ada Wong, I've heard that name before." The woman paused to think about and then continued when she had made the connection. "Now I remember. One of the men from Chicago who came to assist the T-Virus research had used his girlfriend's name as his password. Ada and John. I believe." Ada's eyes opened wide. She knew John?
"How did you know?!" Ada replied. "Who are you?!"
"Annette Birkin." The woman now known as Annette replied. "My husband is the man responsible for the creation of the T-Virus. William Birkin." Ada acted surprised. However, this wasn't any new information. William Birkin was infamous in the Bio-terrorism game.
"John's dead. He became one of those zombies. My condolences." Annette told Ada brashly. She didn't sugar code it. But, her tone of voice that showed no sympathy was the thing that made Ada frustrated. What a insensitive bitch, Ada thought. "However, although I regret this. You'll be joining him shortly. I won't let anyone take the G-Virus away from me."
"G-Virus?" Ada said with a convincing amount of shock.
"It's capable of creating the ultimate bio-weapon. It's potential is even greater than that of the T-Virus." Annette told Ada with a amount of pride in her voice. Ada found it disturbing. But, she also had made a conclusion.
"So that means that the creature in the police department is..." Ada said about to continue but, Annette stopped her.
"Precisely. My husband. William. And, it's all Umbrella's fault. None of this would have happened if they hadn't have tried to steal his research away from him." Annette then noticed the pendant sitting across Ada's chest and seemed to become outraged. "Where did you get that pendant? It looks exactly like the one I gave Sherry!" Sherry was the little girl that Ada had ran into before.
"She dropped it, I've been holding onto it for her." Ada told her. Which was probably the only truth she said in the conversation so, far.
"LIAR! Give it back to me!" Annette yelled and Ada took the opportunity to reach for her gun and to get out of their stale mate but, she ended up punching Annette which resulted in Annette's plummet to the ground under the platform as she fell over the railing. Ada then gave her a smirk and said.
"Too bad." She picked up her gun and an object that had fell to the floor. A locket with a picture of their family and a purple vial hidden within. And she ran down back to Leon. And he met her halfway. She tended his wounds. And, the two advanced further. Soon, they reached a tram and they entered it. Ada stood inside but, a gigantic claw that off William Birkin stuck her and she collapsed. When, she awoke she saw the face of Leon staring down at her.
"Welcome back." He said cockily. She at the pain of the assault on her ribcage. The spreading numbness through her limbs. She wished she couldn't feel her stomach not her legs.
"Hey, take it easy. We're inside Umbrella's secret lab. I'll go find something to treat that wound so, just rest here in the meantime." Leon stated sympathetically. Ada hated this. Ada didn't want him to care for her. She was bad news. She would betray him, she will betray him. And she hated that. She needed him to leave her.
"But, I'll only slow you down with these injuries. Go, save yourself." Ada stated looking towards the wall and was surprised when, he didn't take the bait.
"Is it just me or does everybody always ignore to what I say? I told you, it's my job to look after you." Ada then, realizing that he wasn't budging decided to confess her emotion or the emotion she made up. She wasn't exactly sure anymore the difference between them. Maybe, it was the pain but, it made her judgement cloudy.
"But... you'll be in danger if you stay with me. I know I've only known you for a short period of time but, I really enjoy being with you." Ada said. It shocked her that she actually was honest for a second. This went against everything she stood for. You stand alone and no-one can betray you. She needed to escape.
"I..." Leon responded flustered.
"I know, I'm not capable of caring about anyone but, I don't want to lose you." She couldn't cover up with lies. She couldn't stop her confession once it happened.
"Were leaving this place together. Wait here. I'll be right back." Leon stated as he left her once again. She then sat there on the bench awaiting. Then, soon she slowly exited and powered up the lift and left him down there alone. She needed to escape.
Alright, I need to apologize for my absence, but I can't promise that this will become constant but, I sure as hell will try to update it more often. I however do had finals coming up so, I don't know what'll happen. But, I'm very glad that at the response of the first chapter. It's amazing! Thank you all!
