The smell of new carpet and paint filled the nostrils of the young demons as they walked through the doorways of the house they had bought.
Elizabeth's heels echoed with each step she took in the house, she made it to the middle of the foyer and let out a sigh. She remembered the foyer well.
She and Ciel had their last dance here.
That... was a lifetime ago, when all the young demon only thought about were frills and bows, dresses and shoes, cute and pretty things. Looking back, Elizabeth laughed silently and gently, how Ciel managed to tolerate that was beyond her.
Closing her eyes, Elizabeth slowly reminisced that day she left.
"Lady Elizabeth?"
The young girl stepped off the carriage and closed the door, she looked up at the maid who was practically her second mother and made a small smile.
"Paula, this is one affair I must do alone. Please understand."
The maid wondered why her mistress was acting this way, this morning she chose to wear a black version of her favored orange dress and she decided to let her hair down. As much as she wanted to know why, Paula was bound by orders not to ask.
"Alright then my Lady," She said with a smile, " I will come for you at dusk."
Elizabeth's grip on the carriage door tightened slightly but she was able to remain calm, " Thank you Paula."
With a small wave the young girl watched as the carriage drove away, Elizabeth continued to watch as it disappeared beyond the horizon.
'Please live a long and happy life,' She thought to her friend.
With a deep breath, she turned on her heels and walked towards the manor. Knowing full well that as soon she walked through those large doors, she would leave behind the life she had always known.
Deep in her thoughts, she failed to notice a strong pair of arms wrapping around her shoulders.
"I'm sorry Lizzie."
Even to this day, Ciel still felt the tremendous amount of guilt for what had happened to his mate. he never asked to be a demon nor did he ask for Elizabeth to be turned into one also.
'I REFUSE!' Ciel cried out after he had realized what Alois had in store for both of them, holding Elizabeth's trembling hand.
Alois made a soft smile before fading away, ' You will never be alone again, you'll thank me for this.'
Never be alone again, he was still debating that. He loved her dearly but still, he never wanted to ruin her life with eternal life.
Sensing Ciel's anxiety, Elizabeth placed her pale hands on his arms, " I will be alright Ciel. I promise."
