Also, pointing this out, but the whole "horror romance tragedy" movie they watched in the last chapter was a joke. I thought I was funny but it was a hit and miss with some people. Getting that the story was more about them in the canon universe was something everyone got.

Titles Screens are His Worst Enemy

Martin's eyes flew upon. Taking a moment to compose himself, he stretched gently so as to not wake the snoozing Rose sleeping on him. Wiping drool from the corner of his mouth, Martin's eyes scanned the room to find what had startled him into waking.

The second movie Rose chose to watch had finished long ago. Both of them had passed out during the climax – or Anticlimax as Martin put it. His girlfriend wanted revenge for the horror movie and picked the sappiest romance film she owned. Rose demanded he stay up and finish it with her.

It was a painfully predictable movie. The relationship shared by the fictional characters in the film was pathetic compared to real life romances. Perhaps it was because Martin had seen enough healthy bonds in his life that he was able to make such comparisons; his parents Sanya and Luke, Goody and Ben Stickle, Gonff and Columbine, etc.

Since it was clear from the beginning that the characters were going to end up back together even though they had not talked for several years, Rose and Martin spent the rest of the time whispering to one another before slipping out of consciousness.

Slowly, Martin untangled their tails and laid her down on the pillows. Letting out a dramatic sigh he stood up to full height with paws on hips and glared at the screen. Dvd's had the annoying tendency to repeat the song in a torturous loop, even if no one was around to make a selection from the movie selection screen.

Memories of the time Gonff had learned to play a song about a specific bird on his flute plagued Martin. For months it was the same tune until he threatened physical bloody harm (Skipper had to hold him back) for it to end. At least all he had to do now was press a power button to turn it off.

Chuckling at the thought of Gonff ever being equipped with an off button, Martin strolled towards the TV.

Pain shot through his footpaw and he clenched his jaw tightly to suppress any noise. Neglecting to watch his pawfooting, he had walked right onto a push pin Rose used for clothes. Gingerly Martin removed the sharp object from his footpaw and glanced behind him.

Rose continued sleeping peacefully. Her hair was free of its bow and was spread out in all directions. Facing the Tv again, whose music was now sounding to be a bit patronizing, he pressed on purposely.

Now his shin came into contact with the sharp edge of the coffee table. It was no ordinary coffee table, but from the brand Salamandastron. It was one of the sturdiest kinds out there and one Martin was strongly regretting giving to Rose.

He moved to sit for a while on the ground to ride out the pain, but unwittingly knocked over Roses's textbooks so they slammed on top of his tail. All four extended doctor's editions. With author's notes.

Martin rolled onto his side, failing to ignore the throbbing ache from his leg and the overblown medieval flutes from the movie's titles screens. Taking deep breaths, Martin strained his neck and peeked at the couch again.

Rose was still dreaming, but now she had a hint of a smile gleaming on her dozing face.

A/N:

Don't know if anyone got it, but the "overblown" medieval flutes are from the opening of the Redwall cartoon. Which I adore. Just poking fun at it here.
