Ball 12
"Shit!" Jito cursed, after he investigated Gota's discovery. "We just missed him!"
'Our involvement did cause a change.' Gota thought.
'It's growing process has increased immensely.' Jito thought bitterly and scoffed.
Gota lead Jito and the Z-Fighters to a grey creature that seemed to be laying on all fours with an enormous hole on it's back. It was a flat and rubbery, empty shell that was still wet inside. Gota told and showed everyone that she was able to find it because of the strange trail that seems to start out of nowhere and lead to the strange shell. The trail was a strange color of gray while everything around it was a lush green and in a good area as well; well hidden under the shadows of forest trees. If Gota didn't spot the trail, the shell would have probably never been found or at least found too late.
"This isn't even where the signal was coming from!" Jito continued to fume.
"Those energy signals must have been from when it was shedding out of this." Gota's voice held a hint of sadness.
"Thanks for the obvious, Gota." Jito snapped at her.
"I'm sorry." Gota lowered her head.
"Don't take it out on her." Goku defended Gota. "We have to find this thing before it gets to civilization."
"We just missed it right?" Goten piped up. "It shouldn't have gotten too far."
"Since it just shed, it's body should still be weak." Gohan added.
"Right." Jito calmed himself. "We should find it easily then."
"Should we split up just in case?" Krillen suggested.
Everyone agreed and started to walk off in different directions.
"Your power levels are too high."
Looking up at the familiar voice, everyone saw Jeta floating down to the ground. Jito went into an attack stance with everyone else following his action. Jeta put both of his arms up in defense. His voice seemed monotone and his face matched his voice with an emotionless expression.
"Orders from 090." he said.
Jito and Gota loosened their stances when they heard "090".
"'Do not interfere with 2000 or 080 while they're on their mission." Jeta finished. "So I'm harmless. I won't attack or interfere, but…"
Jeta dropped his arms when he sensed everyone calmed down.
"Your power levels are too high. Majin Cell can sense you," Jeta pointed behind him with his thumb. "And he's going to hide if you're too close. So you might want to fix that."
"That's very thoughtful of you." Jito carefully said.
"Anything for my dear brother." Jeta smirked.
Jito narrowed his eyes at his brother.
"I'm off." Jeta said as he floated up. "Ah, one more thing. You should hurry. It seemed to be lost earlier, but Majin Cell has already spotted a human village…and let me tell you, that thing is hideous. It still has ooze slipping off of it; quite disgusting if you ask me."
"So you've seen him?!" Gota cried.
"No. I'm just making everything up." Jeta shrugged, sarcastically.
"Why didn't you stop him?!" Gota continued.
"Because it's not my mission!" Jeta chuckled. "And, as I stated earlier, I was ordered to not interfere. Helping you would also be interfering."
"I don't think that would have counted!" Gota shouted.
Jito growled and lunged at his twin, but right as he made to punch him, Jeta disappeared, cheerfully saying,
"Bye bye!"
Jito flew right through his brother's after image, said image disappearing seconds after.
"Pisses me off!" Jito screamed. "Helping the monster on its way is interfering!"
Gota stared at her partner with a slightly confused expression as Krillen asked,
"What are you talking about?"
"Think about it! 'It seemed to be lost earlier…'" Jito imitated his brother perfectly. "Indicating he pointed the village out to it!" he fumed, his power rising.
Gota jolted toward the direction Jeta pointed without a word and everyone else followed her action.
"Oh no…"
Gota fell on her knees as Jito picked up a child's shirt with sadness in his eyes.
"We're too late…" Gota's voice shook.
"To think I'd actually see this with my own eyes…" Jito continued as he dropped the shirt and looked around.
Dozens upon dozens of pieces of clothing were scattered everywhere and not a single soul in sight…including Majin Cell. Tears formed and threatened to flow at the corners of Gota's eyes as her shoulders shook violently.
"Dammit! This again!" Goku shouted as he became angry.
Gota stood up and cried out, startling Jito. She powered up, her anger rising.
"You won't get away with this!" she shouted.
…And flew off in a direction she thought the monster went. Jito didn't in the slightest make an attempt to call or stop her as he looked in her direction with sadness in his eyes.
"Gota wait!" Goten cried.
He was about to go after her but Jito spoke up, saying,
"Leave her be."
"But—" Goten started.
"If she finds Cell, she can kill him and we can go home."
Jito flew up, thinking maybe he can find some kind of clue as to what direction the monster could have gone. He spotted an odd gray coloration on the top of a tree.
"Wait, a minute…" Jito talked out loud to himself.
"Jito, did you find something?" Yamcha called out to him.
"How did this get here? Gota probably stepped on some slime…"
Jito plucked the leaf with the gray slime and floated down to the ground. He walked over to Yamcha and stuck the leaf to his shirt via slime as glue.
"Ah!" Yamcha yelped as he plucked the leaf off his shirt with disgust.
"Of course I found something. Don't ask stupid questions."
"What did you find?" Gohan asked.
Everyone else closed in to hear what it was.
"I guess we forgot to mention this, but Majin Cell can't stay afloat like we can and he can only absorb for power. He has to use his tail for energy until he's strong enough, then he can use Buu's abilities. I found some slime on top of the tree." he pointed. "Either he jumped or Gota stepped on some slime. Either way we have to be investigate."
He raised his arm and played with his arm device, then paused until a hologram of Gota showed up; from the shoulder up.
"Did you find him?" Jito asked her.
"No…" Gota panted between words, out of breath from trying to chase after Majin Cell. "I…Couldn't find…him."
"Check your shoe." Jito instructed. " Did you step on some slime?"
"Ok." Gota nodded.
Gota sat down, took off both of her shoes and checked for any residue. Jito impatiently waited until she was finished, resisting the urge to lash out and tell her to hurry it up.
"I don't see anything. Would you like me to do a scan?" Gota asked.
"That could help." Jito replied. "Report back if you find anything. If you don't, don't bother and head back to the village. There's a possibility he might still be around."
"Roger." Gota saluted.
Jito ended the transmission, looked up to the clouds in the sky and sighed.
'This is turning out to be a pain in the ass.' he thought.
"That was pretty cool." Goku mentioned Jito's arm device, staring at him with intrigued eyes. "Can I see that again?"
Jito quickly pulled away when Goku made to press a button on his arm device.
"Don't touch." Jito quickly retorted as Goku pouted.
Jito began to wander around thinking about how Cell entered the village, stole life energy and ran away before they got there. He examined some clothes on the ground near a house when he heard soft sobbing and whimpering.
"I hear crying." Jito said loud enough so the person nearest to him heard him.
He quickly entered the house he was next to, but when he did the sobbing stopped.
"Hey." Jito called out in a soft voice.
He knelt down in front of the sink cupboard in the kitchen.
"You can come out now. The monster is gone, I promise. I won't hurt you."
When the cupboard didn't open, he opened it himself. As he suspected, a child was hiding there; a small girl in an emerald green sun dress with brown hair in braided pigtails.
"You don't have to be scared anymore. We chased the monster away. He won't be coming back."
The small girl cowered back when he revealed her hiding space, but when he finished speaking to her, she instantly sobbed out in relief and stumbled into his arms. Jito smiled and rubbed her back to comfort, then picked her up and headed outside. The girl clung to him and continued to cry.
Krillen who heard him and was about to follow him inside, waited by the door frame when he saw Jito heading toward him.
"You found someone?" Krillen asked.
"No." Jito let out a blunt, sarcastic answer to the obvious question.
When Gota arrived, she saw Jito wandering around and carrying a girl with one arm. She floated down next to him as he continued to stare at the tree he found the odd coloration on earlier, seemingly staring off into space.
"Jito? What are you looking at?" Gota asked, trying to see whatever he was looking at.
"Hold her." Jito simply said, handing the child over to Gota.
Without another word, the air around his hand turned humid as a ball of blue energy appeared out of the palm of his hand. With a grunt, he threw the energy ball into the tree, blowing it to bits.. Everyone whipped around in surprise of Jito's sudden action and gathered together near Jito asking what happened.
"Got him." Jito smirked and quickly leaped where the tree used to stand.
"Jito, what are you doing?" Gota called out to him.
"Tch! He's getting away!"
Jito said as he quickly played with his arm device and immediately caught on to the enemy's life force and flew up to race after it.
"Make sure the child stays safe with someone and follow after me." Jito ordered before flying off.
"Roger!" Gota called after him which fell on deaf ears.
'We're so close! He won't get away!' Jito thought.
Oh Jeta!
