Chapter 13: Horror movies, Girly screams, and Big ol' decisions.

Kouta and Yuuko proudly led the group of teenagers to a nearby cinema and led them into it. Kouta and Yuuko looked around at the movies that were being shown and were pleased to see that The Quiet Ones was still playing.
"…Do we have to watch this movie?" Mizuki said. She was still completely terrified of being forced to watch the horror move.
"Not necessarily, I mean the first couple to chicken out has to wear this chicken hat, but otherwise, you're free to leave at any time" Yuuko said puling two chicken hats out of nowhere.
"How long would we have to wear them?" Mizuki asked.
"For a whole day when we get back to school" Kouta decided nodding his head. He looked over at Yuuko, who was nodding in agreement. Hideyoshi then grabbed Mizuki's shoulders and turned her to face him. He gripped her shoulders and looked into her dark blue eyes.
"Mizuki…we cannot afford to lose this bet. We must be brave and face our fears" he said. Mizuki gazed back into Hideoshi's bright green eyes.
"Okay…we'll do it together!" she said with a determined look in her eyes, "I won't let you down!" Hideyoshi returned her determined look and they both threw their fists into the air and yelled 'Teamwork'.
Akihisa looked to Minami who, yet again, was off in her own little world. Akihisa looked at her and the at Kouta, who had left with Yuuko to purchase the tickets. He took a wild guess that Minami was thinking about the blue-haired pervert.
"Hey Minami, You sure your okay to watch this movie?" he asked. She jerked her head upwards and then looked in his direction and smiled.
"Well I have you here with me so I should be alright" she said sweetly. This caught Akihisa off guard; he hadn't expected that to come out of her mouth. Surprisingly enough, neither of them blushed. Akihisa smiled back at her and gave her a thumbs up.
"I've got your back" he said.
Minami then led him towards the ticket stand where they purchased their tickets and waited to the side for the other couples to get theirs.
"Ready?" Yuuko said. She was super excited to finally be able to see this movie. She'd been waiting forever to be able to go and see it.
"Does me running away count as losing?" Yuuji asked. When he finished his sentence, Shouko handcuffed his had to hers.
"Oh Yuuji, look at this bracelet I got for you" she said. Yuuji looked at the bracelet horrified. He then proceeded to try and separate his hand from Shouko's.
"Cut it off! Cut my arm off!" he yelled. Shouko, who was silent for a while, pulled out her taser and shocked Yuuji, which knocked him out.
"We should hurry, the movie's starting soon," she said dragging Yuuji to the correct theatre. The other couples followed them hesitantly. The group all sat together in one row, with Yuuko by the door, followed by Kouta, Minami, Akihisa, Mizuki, Hideyoshi, Yuuji, and Shouko on the end.
Akihisa turned to his right to see Mizuki muttering to herself. Akihisa turned and whispered to her to calm her down.
"You don't have to watch it if you don't want to,". Mizuki looked up at him and nodded, though she didn't seem to make any indication that she was leaving.
"Thanks Akihisa, but I can't give up now, Hideyoshi's depending on me. Plus it wouldn't be much fun if I missed out on something because I was too scared to sit through a movie" she said smiling.
"Okay then, just don't push yourself too much okay?" he said and she nodded. Then the movie began, causing Mizuki to flinch.
Not too long later, the first jump scare popped up causing Mizuki and Minami to squeal. Mizuki turned towards Akihisa and buried her head in his shoulder. Akihisa jumped a bit and looked over at her. He then glanced over at Minami to see her reaction to Mizuki's display.
Akihisa was disappointed to see her facing the screen with one had covering her eyes. She peeled her hand up just enough to peek at the scene. Akihisa then let his eyes wonder over to where Kouta was sitting. Kouta sat there, watching the movie with the flashing from the screen illuminating the screen. Akihisa was shell-shocked. He was completely unaffected by the sudden jump scare, that had made Akihisa flinch. He wasn't even trying to shield his eyes from the horrific scenes unfolding onto the screen.
Akihisa took that as a challenge. He straightened himself in his seat and looked directly at the screen, taking small glances towards Kouta every now and then. Kouta looked over at Akihisa once and then returned his stare. Akihisa wiggled his eyebrows and flexed his arm at Kouta, mouthing 'Manly man contest'. Kouta smiled and nodded his head, accepting the challenge. He then mouthed, 'you're on' at Akihisa. They both then stared at the darkened screen, preparing to endure the jump scares.
After about a half an hour of the movie, Minami cracked and hid her face with both of her hands, peeking through her fingers. Yuuko, who had braved through the first parts of movie, had finally given into fear and hid her face on Kouta's sleeve. Yuuji, who had just woken up from unconsciousness, was introduced to an anticipated jump scare. He reacted by jumping a foot in the air and shouting.
"What the hell?!" he yelled, resulting in a thunder of shushes coming from the surrounding crowd. "Where am I?" he whispered to Akihisa.
"Movie" Akihisa whispered back. "Oh, and Kouta and I are having a manly man contest if you want to join. He said pointing at Kouta who saluted in their direction.
"I'm game" he said adjusting himself in his seat. "Let's do this" he said preparing himself for the movie. And the contest continued for the remainder of the movie.

After the movie was over, the group decided to head to the park to try and erase the horrific scenes from their minds with nature. As they made their way to the park, Minami began to feel like she was being watched. She constantly looked over her back to check if anyone was following her. When they made it to the park, a rock flew by Akihisa's head, barely missing his head.
"What the-," and before he could finish his sentence, he was struck by a heavy rock in his stomach.
"Oh no…" Minami said, already knowing who the culprit was. She then grabbed Hideyoshi, Yuuji, and Kouta and brought them around her, forming a barrier between her and the red haired menace.
"Oh sugar lumps, why must you associate yourself with these dirty pigs?!" Miharu yelled running around looking for Minami. "Where are you hiding?" she yelled searching around the ark for her.
"No idea" Yuuji said.
"She just up and disappeared" Kouta said
"I think I saw her run away, she went in that direction" Hideyoshi said. "You'd better hurry, by the looks of it, she was goin' real far real fast" he said.
"Oh honey, you don't have to run from me!" she yelled running off in the direction of Hideyoshi's finger. Behind him, Hideyoshi heard Minami sigh in relief.
"Phew, thanks guys, I owe you one" she said stepping out from behind her wall. She then picked up a stick and crouched down in front of her date. She poked him in the back of the head, which caused him to launch himself a foot in the air.
"Please spare me Satan!" he yelled kneeling down in front of Minami. She rolled her eyes at him and kicked his face.
"Calm down idiot, it's me" she said.
"There was absolutely no need for you to kick my face in!" he yelled. He got to his feet and clutched his nose. "My god, you left a footprint on my face!" he said feeling his nose.
"Woah, really? Show us" Kouta said coming closer to Akihisa. He came up directly in front of Akihisa and examined Akihisa's face. "That looks awfully painful, your whole face Is going red" he said pulling Akihisa's cheeks.
"Ouch! Damn you, that makes my face hurt worse" he said jerking back away from the blue haired boy. Kouta then smiled evilly.
"A real manly man wouldn't even feel that" he said. Yuuji then decided to jump in on the fun.
"Yeah, only a little boy would think that hurt" he said smirking. Akihisa then brought his foot up sideways and kicked Yuuji in the face, twisting his shoe around a bit. Yuuji grabbed Akihisa's foot and brought it up higher, causing Akihisa to start yelling.
"Ah, cut it out! My legs not supposed to bend that way!" he yelled trying to release his leg. Yuuji then pushed back on Akihisa's leg, causing him to fall backward. Akihisa was about to retaliate when a loud thunder of footsteps was heard coming straight towards the group.
"You dirty pigs! You lied to me! Now you must be punished!" Miharu yelled.
"Run!" Hideyoshi yelled. He and Akihisa put their arms under Kouta's and lifted him up slightly. Kouta held onto his crutches tightly and the pair zoomed off away from the park as fast as they could. Yuuji, who was still hand cuffed to Shouko, was forced to hide in a nearby bush with her. Minami, Yuuko, and Mizuki all ran away into a nearby forest. When Miharu arrived at the scene, no one was in sight.
She then proceeded to run into the forest where Minami and the others had gone. Yuuji then took a deep sigh of relief and lowered his head.
"Their gonners" he said.
"you're welcome" Shouko said.
"What?" Yuuji asked standing upwards once the coast was clear.
"If I hadn't brought you into the bush with me, you would have been with them" she said.
"Oh…uh thanks I guess" he said rubbing the back of his head.
"We should get lunch" she said, already leading Yuuji away.
"What?! No way!" he yelled trying to resist.
"Why not" she said stopping.
"Because, I don't want to eat out alone with you" Yuuji said.
"But this is a date" Shouko said. She then moved closer to Yuuji. "This is my first date Yuuji, it would be awfully mean of you to make me go hungry" she said.
"W-Whatever" he said looking away from her. Shouko stared at him for a bit before he finally surrendered. "Fine, I'll buy you lunch" he said irritably. He then led her towards a nearby pizzeria.
Fortunately, Kouta, Akihisa, and Hideyoshi made it out of the park in one piece. As the trio sat in the food court of a large mall, Hideyoshi's phone began to ring. He quickly answered it and frowned.
"Yuuko? You're where?...Do I have to?...fine" he said hanging up.
"What happened?" Akihisa asked.
"Yuuko, Mizuki, and Minami are in the forest right now trying to hide from Miharu. They need me to give them a distraction so they can run away," Hideyoshi said.
"Should we come?" Akihisa asked, already standing up.
"No, it'll make it harder to escape, I'll be fine" Hideyoshi said walking away. "I'll bring the others back here" he said.
"Alright then" Kouta said. He then relaxed in his chair. Akihisa decided to take this opportunity to ask Kouta the question that had been burning in the back of his mind.
"Hey Kouta, do you have a crush on Minami" he said. He braced himself for the answer.
"…What gave me away" Kouta said. He was blushing a little and looking away.
"It's pretty obvious" Akihisa said standing up and walking away.
"Hey, where are you going!" Kouta asked lifting himself up and following Akihisa with his crutches. Akihisa ignored him and kept walking. "Are you mad at me? Do you like her too?" Kouta said trying to keep up with Kouta. Akihisa stopped and felt the blush from earlier resurface. He then turned to Kouta who was only a few inches from his face again.
"No," Akihisa said as he stared into Kouta's confused eyes.
"Then why are you mad?" Kouta asked.
"Because…" Akihisa said.
"It's alright if you like her too, you don't have to lie" Kouta said.
"I don't like Minami" Akihisa said annoyed.
"Then why-" Kouta was cut off by Akihisa's lips on his. Kouta froze and his eyes widened. Akihisa quickly pulled away and stared at Kouta's astonished face.
"Because I like you…"
