Sorry for the VERY long wait. Many complications caused me to neglect this story. But now, I'm back and ready to write.

Chapter 10

The moon was high in the sky as Thomas drove his engine past the watermill. The line ahead was bear and silent. Lilly looked ahead, waiting to see the buffers.

"I promise I'll get you home to your grandpa Lilly" said Thomas. "Thank you Thomas" said Lilly with a warm smile.

Thomas smiled to, but when he looked ahead, he saw that they were coming up to the buffers. "We're going through Lilly" said Thomas, increasing his engines speed. Lilly leaned out of the cab, seeing the buffers coming closer.

"Little Guys Can Do Big Things" said Thomas determinedly. Then, his engine hit the buffers. There was a flash of color and a train whistle, and Thomas' engine disappeared.

Thomas looked around to take in the magic railroad. It was everything Thomas thought it was. "It is dark and cold" said Thomas, and then his engine shook. "AND Bumpy… but I'm not afraid" said Thomas sternly. Lily was looking around the railroad to. Now that it was night on Sodor, the magic railroad was much darker. However, the light form the engines lamp shone brightly.

But as Thomas scanned the tracks, he noticed something in a small siding. "Hey, there's the missing coal truck" he said as they passed the siding with the truck. "Coal Truck" said Lily. Then, she remembered something. "Stoke up the magic in the mountain and the engine will live, show the lady the cure and she will smile. That's part of Mr. C clue to his gold dust" she said to Thomas.

"And Lily, that's what you do with coal; stoke it up to make steam" said Thomas. "But what about the other one; show the lady the cure and she will smile" asked Lily. Thomas put his hands in his pocket and tried to think of something, when he felt something inside of his pocket. He grabbed it, and pulled it out. There, in his hand, was the medicine he had taken from the scientists yesterday. Then, Thomas realized something "That's it" he screamed. "What" asked Lily?

Thomas told Lily about the medicine "this is the cure. If this can cure any disease, then this is the cure that we have to show the lady" he explained. Lily smiled "Thomas, your right".

Then, Thomas stopped his engine "We're going to be really reliable, and help Mr. Conductor. We're going back for that coal truck". Then Thomas threw his engine into reverse. "Buffers, Coal Truck, All Cure Medicine; we're starting to solve the mysteries Lily" said Thomas.

They reversed into the siding, coupled the engine to the coal truck, and pulled back onto the railroad. Thomas smiled, but then, Lily came up to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Thomas blushed like crazy as he turned to look at Lily. But she just smiled and said "You're a really amazing person Thomas". And Thomas gave a smile to.

But when Thomas looked ahead, he saw another pair of buffers coming up. "Here we go" said Thomas. Lily held on tight as Thomas' engine hit the buffers, and a flash of color engulfed them.

After the light had disappeared, he saw to his horror that the line was heading towards a cliff. Thomas screwed on the brakes, and his engine came to a stop just at the edge.

"Lily, where are we" asked Thomas looking around. "Muffle Mountain Thomas" said Lily. Thomas looked out at the valley in front of his engine. "I'm feeling a little dizzy" he said almost falling. He was worried for his engine, so he tried to reverse it back, but none of the controls would budge. It was as if his engine didn't want to move. "I can't move my engine, the controls won't budge" he said tugging at the regulator.

"Never mind about that Thomas, we have to go find my grandpa" said Lily jumping down from the cab. "But I can't just leave my engine here. Its North Western Railway property" said Thomas. "Then you stay here. I'll be back, but first I must find my grandpa" said Lily, and she rushed away.

Lily ran through trees and bushes, trying to find the path that would lead down the mountain. "I have to find grandpa fast" she said to herself.

Meanwhile, Thomas was still in the cab of his engine. He was looking at the needle in his hand, and at the liquid inside. "I wonder if you really are going to help the lost lady" he said to himself. But then, the wind started to blow hard. "Man, it's getting windy up here" he said to himself.

But then, Thomas heard a crunching noise. "What was that" he said looking around. Then, it happened.

The ground underneath Thomas' engine gave way. The earth fell and the rails holding his engine bent, causing it to fall down. "Whoa" screamed Thomas with his hands flying into the air. The needle flew out of Thomas' hand and landed on a soft patch of grass next to the coal truck; which had become uncoupled from Thomas' engine.

Thomas' engine fell off the cliff and down towards the valley. "Oh no" screamed Thomas. But then, CLANG, Thomas' engine stopped falling. It had hit the ground safely. "Few that was close" said Thomas. But then, his engine began to roll forward. It got faster and faster as it rolled down the steep slope.

"Wait, what" said Thomas as his engine continued to roll down the slope. He looked around, taking in what had happened. "I've left the coal truck behind" he said as the coal truck became smaller and smaller as he rolled away.

Meanwhile, Lily had found a path. "Hope this takes me to grandpa" she said as she ran down it. But then, Patch came riding into view with his horse. He stopped when he saw Lily, and she stopped to. "Lily, there you are. Your grandpa and I were worried sick. Where have you been" he asked. "No time, where's grandpa, can you take me to him" she asked. "Shure, jump up" he said offering her a hand. "Patch, I know I can always count on you" said Lily.

But things weren't going so well for Thomas. He kept tugging on his engines brakes, but then wouldn't budge. "Stop you stupid machine, stop" screamed Thomas. But he soon gave up, and looked ahead. The slope his engine had been running down had flattened out, and it was now rolling through a field at the bottom of the mountain. "Good, were flattening out, it'll slow down soon" said Thomas smiling. But what came next was unexpected.

His engine looked like it was dipping into the earth. "Whoa" screamed Thomas. Then there was a flash of light and a train whistle, and Thomas and his engine disappeared.

Meanwhile, Burnett was sitting at a desk in his workshop. He was looking at papers with blueprints of an engine and medicine ingredients. Then, a voice rang out saying "Grandpa"!

Burnett looked up, and Lily was quickly walking towards his desk. "Oh Lily, I'm so glad you're okay" said a relieved Burnett.

Lily stopped at his desk and quickly said "There's this island full of trains, and they said you might have been there. Mr. Conductors very sick, and Junior's in danger, and I had to leave Thomas behind. Please help me".

Burnett looked at Lily, and then at the engine across from him. Lily turned around, and looked at the engine to. "I'd like to Lily, but nothing seems to work" said Burnett. Lily stared at the engine, but then she noticed the large doors in the corner. She walked through the doors and into the room. She looked at the sleeping girl in the glass coffin. Lily now knew everything.

"This is the lost lady" said Lily. "Yes, it is" said Burnett, who had fallowed her into the room. "Great, now we have everything. We can go back to the island and bring Mr. Conductor and Junior home" said Lily smiling "let's fire the engine up and wake her up" she said, jerking her head at Lady.

But Burnett wasn't smiling "She won't wake up, not until the cure to her disease has been injected, but I haven't been able to find it" said Burnett. At that moment Patch walked in.

"Then let's get her engine fire up; maybe we can take her to Sodor and try and find the cure" said Lily. "I can't make it steam; I've tried all the different coals in the valley" said Burnett, frowning.

Lily thought for a moment "Lady… is that her name" she asked. "Yes" said Burnett.

"That's it; I know where we can get the cure. And for the engine, all it needs is special coal from the island for Sodor" said Lily. For the first time in a while, Burnett looked hopeful. Lily then turned to Patch. "Patch, at the top of the mountain there's a blue tank engine and a coal truck. The driver has special medicine for Lady. Could you tell him to bring his engine down here and the coal truck" asked Lily. Patch smiled "Of course I will". And then he ran out of the room, and towards the tunnel.
