Setbacks, other stories, social life, blah, blah, blah, and all the stuff I usually say. Anyway, time for the next chapter. But, will it be the last one?
Human Thomas and the Magic Railroad Chapter 13
After turning their engines around, Lady, Burnett, and Thomas headed back to the grotto. When they arrived, Junior, Mr. C, and Patch happily greeted them.
"You did it" said Patch.
"I always believed in you" said Junior.
"And what happened to D10" asked Mr. C.
"Oh, he fell off the viaduct, which is now in half" said Thomas.
"Going to have to alert the signalman about that" said Mr. C.
"We've already done it. Men are already beginning to repair it" said Lady.
"Good, well, it seems like everything's taken care of" said Mr. C.
"But Mr. Conductor, you still don't have your gold dust" said Thomas.
"I think he will soon" said Lady.
"Right, still need gold dust. Can you remember any other part of the clue" asked Junior.
Mr. C thought hard, thinking about everything he had learned since he left the sheds last time. He walked around, hoping the stimulation would help him think. But, it was only when he walked near the well that he remembered.
"Wait a minute; then watch the swirls that spin so well" he said.
"What does that mean" asked Thomas.
"SWIRLS, just like all of the magical shavings from Lady's engine while we were on the railroad" said Patch.
"That's right, is there anything else" asked Lily.
"Of course there is; so well. A well means: WATER" said Junior, and he pulled a bucket of water out of the well.
"Now what do we do" asked Thomas.
"Lily, put the shavings in with the water" said Burnett.
Lily got the shavings, and the water, and put them together in a dish. But still, nothing happened.
"What now" asked Lily.
"Do you know Lady" asked Patch.
"As a matter of fact, I do. Throw it up into the air. The shavings and water will do the rest" said Lady.
Lily looked down at the shavings; all she had to do was throw it.
"Go on Lily, throw it up in the air" said Burnett.
"Please, Please" said Junior, looking very eager.
Lily still didn't throw it, and she didn't know why.
"Now Lily" said Thomas and Lady together.
Lily huffed, then, she threw the shavings and water into the air.
The two substances mixed together, and an explosion of Gold Dust filled the air.
"GOLD DUST" shouted Lily.
"Gold Dust" said Burnett.
"YES" screamed Mr. C.
"Gold Dust" said Junior happily.
Then, the Gold Dust flew through the air, and into Mr. C's and Junior's whistle. The two danced around happily as their whistles refilled.
"Lady, this all happened because of you. You're really helpful" said Thomas.
"Well, it was because of you that I'm even here. Your help was the real reason this all happened. And helping each other, brings to life the magic in all of us" said Lady happily.
"Come on Mutt, let's look around" said Patch, and he walked off with Mutt fallowing.
Junior walked up to Lily. "Lily, I believe I promised you something" he said. He picked up Lily's hand, took his whistle, and poured some gold dust into her hand. "Here, take some" he said smiling.
"Thank You" said Lily, and she gave him a hug. Junior returned it, and then turned to his cousin.
"So cus, how else how else can I help" he asked.
"You mean, you don't want to go back to the beach" asked Mr. C.
"Na, well maybe, for a holiday. But now I'm ready to work. You got a job for me" asked Junior happily.
"You know Junior there is a railway" said Mr. C.
"With Palm Trees" asked Junior.
"One or two" said Mr. C.
"And Sunshine" asked Junior, getting more excited.
"Sunny Spells" said Mr. C.
"I'LL TAKE IT, WHAT'S THE WAY" he asked happily, taking out his whistle.
Mr. C pulled a blue cap out from behind him. "This is the way" he said.
Junior smiled, took the cap, and turned it around. It was a conductor's cap, and on the front said "Sodor Railways".
"Cuz, does this mean" asked Junior.
"This whole experience has let me know that while I love Sodor, I love Shinning Time even more. I've decided to stay there from now on. But Sodor still needs a conductor, and your just the right person for the job" said Mr. C.
Junior was so full of glee, he didn't say anything. Instead, he put the cap on his head, but he put in on sideways.
Mr. C wanted to say something, but decided against it.
Junior gave a salute, blew his whistle, and disappeared in a cloud of Gold Dust.
Mr. C sighed happily, but then he looked around. "Hey, where did Thomas and Lady go" he asked.
Thomas and Lady were sitting on a cliff near the grotto. It overlooked a valley, full of trees, and the sun was just setting behind it.
"Sodor is so beautiful" said Lady.
"It sure is; it's why I love living here. This island is full of nice people, and great places. The railway is just one thing about it. There's fields of green, and sandy yellow beaches, rivers, streams, and much more" said Thomas.
"I do remember when I would come here with Burnett, and see all the island had to offer. Usually all I would see was Shinning Time, and after a while I wanted to see more. But when I came to Sodor, it was the one place I didn't want to leave after a while. This island is so magical, more magical than me. All I ever wanted was to live here. But after D10 caused my accident, I couldn't. All that time asleep, I was hoping that someone would wake me up, and take me back to Sodor" said Lady.
"And it happened, Burnett woke you up and brought you here" said Thomas.
Lady smiled and shook her head "Burnett may have brought me here, but he didn't wake me up" she said.
"Then, who did" asked Thomas.
Lady chuckled "It was you Thomas" she said.
"I think you're mistaken, I didn't wake you up. I've just been around while all this happened" said Thomas.
"Then tell me, who brought the cure to Muffle Mountain, who brought the special coal for my engine, and who risked their life to save me from D10" asked Lady.
"Uh, well" said Thomas nervously.
"Uh hu" said Lady.
"It, was…me" said Thomas, realizing what he had done.
"That's right, I'm here because of you. In all my years of existence, you are the noblest man I've ever met. And, I believe I should thank you" said Lady.
"Oh, well, you're welcome" said Thomas.
"Not like that, like this" said Lady. She drew closer, closed her eyes, and kissed Thomas full on the mouth.
Thomas was shocked at first, he hadn't been kissed by a girl before. But slowly, Thomas became less shocked, and returned the kiss. When the two broke apart, their cheeks were bright red.
"So" said Thomas.
"So, isn't this supposed to be the moment where one of us says 'I Love You'" said Lady.
"Uh, maybe" said Thomas nervously.
Lady smiled, then said "I Love You".
Thomas was shocked "Wha, What, you do? But, I mean, we've only know each other for a few hours" he said.
"But I've never felt like this before. My heart is pounding, and I feel dizzy. I know in my heart that of all the people I could have met, you were picked long before all of this" said Lady.
Thomas was still shocked, but as he looked more at Lady, and her beauty, he realized something. "I think I'm in love to" he said.
"That's all I needed to hear" said Lady, and she embraced Thomas in a big hug, which he happily returned.
Meanwhile, back at the grotto, Mr. C heard ringing. It was coming from a track phone box nearby. Mr. C opened it and answered the phone.
"Hello" said Mr. C.
"Mr. Conductor" said STH.
"Oh yes Sir Topham Hatt sir" said Mr. C.
"I'm calling to inform you that we are holiday is over, and we are coming home" said STH.
"You're on your way back right now" said Mr. C.
"Yes, should be there in a few hours. Edward's pushing his engine as fast as it can go" said STH.
"Splendid news, I'll be at the sheds to welcome you" said Mr. C.
"Good, and how are things. Is everything running smoothly" asked STH.
"Oh yes sir, everything is under control" said Mr. C.
"Right, well then I'll see you at Tidmouth Sheds" said STH.
"Yes, Goodbye sir" said Mr. C, and he hanged up.
Then Mr. C looked over at Lily and Burnett. "Well, see you in Shinning Time" he said. Then he blew his whistle, and disappeared in a cloud of Gold Dust.
Lily looked at the Gold Dust in her hand. "Here Grandpa" she said, holding out here hand "I want you to have this", and she dumped the Gold Dust into Burnett's hand.
"Well how sweet of you Lily. Here, give me the bluebird" said Burnett. So Lily handed him Bluebird. "I think we should share it" said Burnett. Then he sprinkled the Gold Dust onto the bird. "And now, we will always remember our Shinning Time together" he said. And both he and Lily held the bird, together.
Half an hour later, Burnett, Lilly, and Patch were getting ready to leave. "Where did Lady get off to" asked Burnett as he stoked the fire of Lady's engine.
Just then, Lady and Thomas walked over to them. "There you two are. It's time to go home Lady" said Burnett.
But Lady didn't look happy, she looked nervous. "Uh, Burnett, there, well, there's something I want to say" she said nervously.
"Okay, what is it" asked Burnett.
"I, I…I WANT TO STAY HERE ON SODOR" she said quickly with her eyes shut.
Burnett was surprised "What do you mean" he asked.
"Burnett, I love Shinning Time, but I love Sodor more. All I've ever wanted was to live here. It's an amazing place, and I want to spend the rest of my life here" said Lady.
"But it's not safe here. What about D10, and you have nothing here. How can you live here" asked Burnett in a worried tone.
"D10 has been taken care of, and if he ever comes back, I will protect Lady. She can also stay with me and my family for now. My parents won't mind, and my sisters will like another girl in the house" said Thomas.
"But, but, I just got you back. Now, I'm going to lose you again" said Burnett sadly.
"You're not losing me. I will visit every day if I can. But you always said that I should do what I think is right. Well right now, this is what I think is right; for me" said Lady.
Burnett wiped a tear from his eye, and smiled. "You remind be so much of Tasha" he said.
Lady was a little shocked. "Really" she asked.
"Really, there is so much of her love and determination in you" said Burnett.
A tear dripped down Lady's cheek "Thank You" she said, and gave Burnett a hug. Burnett returned it "Please take care of yourself" he said.
"I will, and the same to you" said Lady.
The two broke apart, and smiled. "Here" said Lady, and she handed him her whistle. "Use this to get home. And, be safe" she said.
"Goodbye Lady" said Burnett.
"Keep in touch" said Lily.
"And remember to visit the station sometime" said Patch.
"Goodbye everyone" said Lady.
Then Burnett blew the whistle, and Lily, Burnett, Patch, and Mutt disappeared.
"Well" said Thomas "we might want to head home to. My mom and dad will probably want to get to know you" said Thomas.
"Yes, right" said Lady "I'm looking forward to meeting your family and friends".
"You can leave your engine at Ffarquhar Sheds. No one uses it right now. Maybe tomorrow we can see if STH will hire you. He'd love to have you work on the railway" said Thomas as he climbed into his engine's cab.
"That would be nice; I love working on railways" said Lady.
"All the Live Long Day" asked Thomas with a smug smile.
"Ha, you got me there" said Lady. The two laughed as they pulled their engines away from the grotto, and from the buffers.
So Mr. Conductor stayed at Shinning Time, and enjoyed it very much.
Junior took over Mr. C's job on Sodor, even though STH was unconvinced at first.
Lily came to stay with her grandpa every summer until the tragic day.
Patch continued to help out at the station, and spent a lot of his time with Lily and Mr. C.
Burnett spent his retirement in peace, without having to worry about protecting Lady.
And now we've come to the happy end of our story, and it's time for all of us to go home, just like Thomas and Lady.
THE END
Thomas: "WOAH, WOAH, WOAH! HOLD IT ONE MINUTE! THAT'S HOW WERE ENDING THIS STORY"
Narrator: "Uh, well, yes. Isn't that how it ended"?
Lady: "I don't think so. But then again, I can't remember much for some reason".
