Frozen; frozen with shock, fear, confusion. The liquid dripping lightly from his dry lips. This was his punishment. He had committed the ultimate sin, and now, he will perish as a sinner. Mikey stayed on his knees, keeping his palm resting slightly on the now open gap between his shoulder and throat. The blood was warm and wet. The copper smell flooding his senses as he watched Rictor's lifeless body. He killed and now he will be killed. His head began to swim before he fell to his side, not functioning the blow from the hard ground. He heard distantly the sound of screams of his name, the growling of one of the other turtles that claimed to be family.
Miles was quick as he jumped away from the flying Sai that came his way. As Raphael was busy trying to get a good aim on the dog, Leo and Donnie ran over to Mikey who remained still. Donnie slid to s stop as he pulled out some gauze from his bag, checking the wound. It wasn't as deep as expected but still if not treated he could bleed out.
Raph was seeing red, wanting nothing more then to kill this bastard.
"I trusted you!" He hollered, attempting to get the mutt with his Sai again but Miles gained enough distance between he and Raph.
"I told you not to thank me just yet" Miles said with a tint of humor but Raphael didn't find this funny what so ever.
"Why? Why go through all that trouble if you were just going to kill him!" Raph demanded, fearing how this was all going to turn out, if Donnie couldn't save him. Father. The fear that father will never be the same if they couldn't bring his baby home alive. Mile cocked his head to the side and lifted his hand up his bloodied finger that still held the dagger, telling Raph to hold on for a moment.
Miles reached behind him to pull out the medallion from Rictor's desk. He brought the tip of the dull dagger to the lip of the medallion and watched as the blood that was caught in the dagger, race down the small crater of the medallion, outlining the star with the dark red substance. Once the corners were filled, the medallion lit up lightly as Miles held it. Miles smile only grew, watching as the medallion came to life. He looked back at Raphael.
"I guess you deserve an explanation." He said looking over at the fallen turtle. His facial expression falter just slightly. A hint a guilt hidden behind the vicious smile. He turned back at the angered terrapin. He heard him growling in a threatening matter and Miles could say he was very impressed by the determination of the turtle for keeping his cool long enough to understand why.
He heard the sound of a sword being unsheathed and quickly dodged Leo as he came flying in. Miles was a little taken back by the blue banded turtle. His anger sent shivers down Miles spine. Unlike Raphael whose anger was his personality. Leonardo had a different type of anger, one that is hidden beneath a pacifist leadership. Miles looked into the hazel eyes seeing that this turtle was looking for blood. He wanted Miles dead and Miles couldn't help but to be a little entertained by this. Dodging another attack, he flipped to the other side of the room. Leo stood his ground, eyes blaring at the beast who had wounded his younger brother. His lips twisting into a snarl.
"Why.." He whispered harshly. Miles gave out a dry chuckle.
"Trust me Shell back none of it is personal." Miles reasoned.
"Tell me now or I'm turning you into a fur coat." Leo threatened. Miles knew it was time to stop playing. Instantly, his smile disappeared and his face turned coldly serious.
"My name is Miles Everte. I am a leader of a rebellion on my home planet. Years ago we were invaded and my people were trapped as prisoners. Soon enough Rictor took interest in me and kidnapped me to force me into his games. I played as his lap dog for so many years here and he told me everything from his prisoners to the origin of the guardians." He smirked slightly. "Idiot." Cracking his neck lightly, he looked back at Mikey who was staring out into space as his brother was wrapping the wound.
"I knew I needed the guardians to win my war." He turned back to Leo. "This here, "Addressing to the medallion. "is the way to control them. The only way to gain control is if their recent holder is killed by an innocent." Miles closed his eyes. "Rictor told me of a little innocent shell back that was coming in the ring." He opened them once more, glimmer of mischief in his eyes.
"Little Michelangelo was my key into gaining control of the guardians and getting Rictor out of my way."
Leo stood there comprehending everything he was saying. Mikey was innocent yes. Never killed, never been to terribly harmed. But now? He was tainted. He didn't realize that Miles continued talking.
"The dagger I used can only cut an corrupted youth which after he killed Rictor, he had became exactly what I needed." Miles smirked.
"You knew this whole time. Ya planned this entire thing out from the very start!" Raph roared.
"And it was so easy to do. Rictor was so caught up in his own personal ambitions that he left me to play around." Miles eyes kept wondering back to the beaten turtle that laid on the floor. He didn't hate the little shell back. No far from it. He was an intriguing little creature. After all the horrors he was faced with he was able to hold on which really surprised him. He looked over to the brothers that were around him. This was family. A bond that cannot be broken. Miles referred to a time when he could call someone family but it was so long ago.
There was regret from the things he did to the young turtle and knew it was haunt the youngster for the rest of his life but it was a sacrifice that Miles had to make for an attempt to save his own people. He will be forever branded as monster but if its for the freedom of his people he would take it. He needed to break the child down brick by brick to make it to this point. He didn't want forgiveness, he didn't need it and most certainly didn't deserve it.
Miles pondered over his options and decided he can't take back everything he did but possibly make some type of amend for what has happened. He looked up to the leader.
"I have done terrible things to your brother and I hope he will come out of his experience at least a little unscathed." Miles started making Leo's eyes grow darker, growling louder.
"But what I can do is make it so the guardians may never bother you again. You were in there way, now I myself will re-route them." Miles put the medallion over his head so it rested on his fury chest. He took a breath and stood up straight with a glaring smile.
"Well boys I had fun, but I must take my leave and I suggest you do the same. The party is gonna come crashing down." Miles mocked. Leo couldn't let him go. No he needed to pay. He then charged at Miles, determined to pierce the cold heart. All he saw was his smirk before his body was coated with a thick black smoke, making Leo step back away from it.
It finally cleared to show that Miles was no longer there. Leo stood there breathing heavily for a few moments, trying to understand everything. He looked back at Raph who had an equally confused look. When he turned to look at Don, the entire place began to shake drastically. Leo's head snapped to Don for answers.
Donnie held his palm to the wound on his brothers neck making sure the pressure was sufficient. The walls around them began to tremble, causing pieces of the loose dirt to fall between the cracks. The guards that were at a stand still suddenly bolted out of the room, telling Donatello all he needed to know.
"Guys! If Miles just left and he has control of the Guardians that means he took them with him. They were the power source of this place. It's gonna come down!" Donnie yelled. Raph ran over to Don and quickly picked up Mikey, holding his tightly to his chest. Quickly as they came, they dashed downt he hallway looking for the exit.
Mikey allowed his head to roll. The lights were so bright it was blinding but a piece of him told him to keep his eyes open. But, at the same time the voices in his head were telling him to bleed out like the beast he was. Animals killed. He was an animal. No amount of Honor could ever change that.
He focused his vision above him, watching at the world above him begin to crumble down above him. Everything was broken now, everything was destroyed. He was broken. He looked ahead of him to see the twin shells racing towards what looked to be stairs. His body was numb to the point that he didn't even realize when they began to move him up the stairs. He was then placed back onto the strong chest of which he called brother. Why would a family risk so much for a beast like him. It didn't make any sense to him. He began to blink lazily. His mouth parting lightly, wanting to say something, speak out his unorganized mind but couldn't seem to form the words to do so. He gave up, allowing these people to move him what ever way they chose because he finally accepted; he no longer had control.
They ran as fast as they could, racing against the falling skies, the fires that erupted, the screamed they could hear from the still locked up prisoners. They didn't have time to save them. Their only priority was Michelangelo. As if playing in a bad action flick, the four flew out of the cube in one fall sweep, while behind them the world that was created crashed upon itself, sending off a large gust of air, knocking all the sorcerers off their feet and barreling into the trees. Master Splinter quickly dug his walking stick into the dirt of the ground, keeping himself anchored as everyone went flying.
The boys remained on the floor, Raphael using his own body to covering Mikey from any flying debris. The cube collapse in a dramatic outtake causing the trees to bend backwards. A colossal boom echoed through the entire Nexus.
Minutes passed, allowing the silence to fall back into place. Leo was the first to move, Looking behind himself to see the cloud of dust and no sign of the prison that was once there. And that means, no sign of Miles. He looked to see Splinter and Donnie, helping each other stand back up. He looked to his other side and quickly as he could dashed toward Raph and Mikey.
Raph stayed as Mikey's covering, hands holding him up. He watched as little trickles of blood dripped from his mouth and onto Mikey's plastron. Something hard hit him. Really hard. His vision began to cross but he didn't care. All his focus was on his little brother that laid beneath him and realized that Mikey stopped breathing.
"No...Nonononono." Raph ducked his head. He felt the presence next to him.
"Raph!" Leo yelled, pulling him to the side. Raph fell to the ground with Leo as he looked at the wound on his neck. It was deep but could be treated. Leo was careful but pulled Raph's face to look at him.
"Raph you're okay!" Leo tried his hardest to calm his little brother but it wasnt working.
"H-he stop breathing." Raph whispered. He began to repeat it, fighting against Leo who only held on tighter.
"Raph he's gonna be okay!" He tried to tell him. Raph continued to ramble on as two of the guards came over to Michelangelo's body. Leo looked at his baby brother to see his eyes were dim. After everything Mikey couldn't die like this. He just couldn't! There was no way he would give up now.
Holding Raph, he could feel the heated tears on his shoulder as his own tears were threatening to spill.
"please.." He whispered, praying to any god to give him a sign of hope. Then, he saw it. So small yet a possible sign. A twitch in his cheek as sign of discomfort. He was hanging on a thread but he was there. Leo let out a shaky breath, holding Raph tighter trying to stop the bleeding. It was a deep gash for sure and the blood was sticky. He saw Donnie run over to them in a quick dash.
"Go help Mikey." Leo demanded. Donnie stopped and stood for a moment. He could see the blood clear as day but he didn't see the condition Mikey was in when he was taken away. He dropped the duffel bag in front of Leo.
"Wrap him up and bring him in." Donnie said before he took off in the other direction, followed by there father who wanted to be by Michelangelo more then any of them.
For a moment, Leo just sat there, replaying the image of his brothers face. He couldn't think like that, he couldn't afford it. He made Raph face him and wrapped his neck as clean and quick as he could.
"He's dead." Raph mumbled, keeping his eyes down cast. Leo stopped his wrapping and looked at his brother, seeing the guilt and regret edged in the cracks of his face.
"He's breathing." He said, trying anything he could to reassure his brother that Mikey was still with them. Raph looked at him, golden eyes filled with so much sorrow he thought he was going to drown in the intense stare.
"That doesn't mean he's alive Leo." He said quietly. And even though he didn't want to believe it, as much as he hated to admit the possibility; Raphael could be right.
