Kill me…Kiss me
A/N: Jeez, sorry guys, it's been a year with this one. I keep saying I'll update then I look at it and it's just like, 'let's do something else…' But this story keeps bringing in the views and now even keeping up with my two newest stories. I'm not even sure how this is even found through the pages of available fanfic. But yeah, it's time to continue this. Let's hope inspiration hits.
Chapter 2: Let's try this again...
xXx
The aroma of cocoa wafted around the vicinity. White wispy apparitions ascended from a swirling brown vortex; white gooey fluffy substances melted as if they were the bodies left behind. Their grave still sending off warmth, to those in its presence, slowly cooling as time passed.
Amelia inhaled and a sigh came out, a smile slowly inching its way along her lips.
"Enjoying your drink?"
"Huh?" the trance immediately lifted and Amelia jumped at the sudden sound; she had been so focused watching her beverage that it took away her attention and she lost track of other things. Even when those 'other things' happened to be the person who paid for her meal and the very drink she held in her hands.
Tyki took a napkin that had been given to them with the food, and wiped at the spill that had escaped over the rim of the mug.
"I wouldn't mind leaving you in your peace, but it looked so comforting and I got lonely."
Amelia stared into the contents of her drink. Her eyebrows furrowed, cheeks puffed and lips puckered; a look of concentration and determination. Concentrated on forcing back the redness she was sure was creeping up her face; determined not to let Tyki see it.
"S-sorry."
"What are you 'sorry' for?" Tyki voiced good-naturedly which fell right into a laugh, "Whoa, I haven't seen that blush in years!"
Tyki watched as Amelia's face got even brighter.
"I am not blushing."
Tyki let out a wondrous, 'ah' and eased slightly over the table; Amelia lent into the chair back. "Then you must have a fever," Tyki said easily as his hand rose as if to make contact with Amelia's forehead.
She stared at him; her expression resolute but her eyes wavered, "Mikk."
Tyki's eyebrows rose and his eyes widened before they slowly went back to normal; a wary smile spreading on his lips. He gazed as she glanced anywhere but his eyes; his face; his direction. Tyki opened his mouth.
"Do you need something else?"
Amelia looked over at where the voice came and saw a stout woman in her early fifties, her hair in a neat bun high upon her head. She was the missus of the café they sat in. She had wrinkles etched into the corners of her eyes which become more prominent when she smiled; especially during her friendly smiles, much like the one she currently wore.
Tyki also looked at the woman, his brows raised in confusion, "No, nothing else?"
She in turn stared at him curiously, and he followed the trail of her eye, which lead him to stare dumbly at his raised hand. He chuckled and rubbed at the back of his neck sheepishly, finally making use of his arm.
The woman shook her head akin to a mother with a child whom had done something silly, "Are you sure I can't get you anything else, Tyki. Or for your little friend."
Amelia's body rose from her chair and kept her eyes trained on the owner. She felt her hair whip the sides of her face, shoulders, neck, and saw the brown strands flicker in front of her eyes, "I am fine. Thank you for the meal."
"Of course, dear. No problem at all."
Amelia excused herself and left the café.
Tyki stood up slowly, chuckling at the look the woman gave him, "Goodbye until tomorrow."
Tyki exited the café and stepped off the porch cautiously. A layer of snow had built up and any misstep would cause one to slip. No longer was the sun hiding behind stray clouds, it was gone completely as night had truly approached. The snow continued to fall steadily; wayward flurries danced in the wind, others fell slowly onto Tyki's curly hair. He shoved his hands into his pockets, hunching his shoulders to better brace the cold, and looked at the ground to see tracks imprinted in the loose snow. He could barely see anything beyond five feet in front of him. It was most likely well beyond seven, and rapidly approaching eight, in the evening. The moonlight struggled to provide light to those who needed it.
He continued to look down to see where the one he was searching for had gone, when he saw something much better. Amelia stood, her back to him, shoulders sagged, as she stared at the sky.
Tyki approached her slowly, his arm outstretched as he thought to rest his hand on her shoulder when he thought better of it and stayed still.
Tyki felt as a breath escaped him as he stuffed his hand back into the warm depths of his coat pocket.
"Sorry."
Amelia didn't turn around to face Tyki as she spoke, "what are you sorry for?"
Tyki chuckled dryly before sighing, "If you say sorry it should be because you did something and want to apologize for it," he went on saying, "I'm sorry for wanting to check for a fever."
Amelia turned swiftly and glared at Tyki before her gaze wavered within seconds and she looked at her feet; her left boot lace was untied.
Tyki looked at Amelia as her shoulders slumped further. His attempt at comforting had certainly failed and he sighed, when the feeling for doing so numerous times thus far crossed his mind.
"Let's go home-"
Amelia shook her head solemnly, "I can't…" she trailed off still looking at her feet.
"I thought it was already decided?" a small breeze blew emphasizing the already cold air, "You need somewhere for tonight for sure."
Amelia muttered to herself, and it was lost in the wind though Tyki could guess what she had said. She once again looked up and saw Tyki's continued stare. She tried her best not to look away. She blinked; and blinked again.
Tyki's eyebrows rose as Amelia's hands hurried to cover her mouth. He was confused as to what was going on until muffled snorts escaped through her lips and fingers. An amused smile warmed Tyki's features as he looked at the young girl, "What's so funny?" he wouldn't mind being let on to the joke also.
Amelia shook her head but kept staring: still trying to contain her laughter. As if on cue, Tyki's spectacles lowered on his nose and a snow flurry ghosted over the bridge of his nose before melting, running a trail of water down his cheek. Amelia's eyes closed in her fit of childish laughter; Tyki took off the glasses and saw that it had a mini snow pile on top of the frames. Tyki could only imagine the silly image the snow had created; it had probably acted as bushy white eyebrows atop his thick swirled lens. His smile lingered.
He wiped the snow away and replaced the glasses before Amelia spoke, "Sor- I mean," she couldn't really tell anything from the snow as she looked around, "which way to your home?"
"Ah, yes."
Tyki started walking, and when he reached Amelia they fell in step with each other and trudged through the night to seek shelter from the cold.
A/N: This chapter took forever, at first I didn't even know how to go about it. The start I used before got me nowhere, til I decided to put it somewhere else in the story and use the opening that I did. This chapter feels filler-y to me, but I needed to just get it out because the rest of the story wasn't coming to me. So second chapter, finally! Thank you to everyone who took time to read/review/favorite and/or alert. I'm glad you appreciate my story and think it's worth the read. : )
It's really been a year! where has the time gone? :0
