Mina was leaning against the wall watching the two brothers prepare to go and kidnap the demon they needed. Crowley was off in another room giving them some space. She could tell they really didn't like Crowley. It'd be odd if they didn't.
"Why are we even listening to him Dean?" Sam asked. "This is totally insane."
"I don't disagree." Dean replied. Crowley walked back into the room with a clap of his hands.
"One big happy family are we then? Fantastic." He said.
"You ready to go?" Dean asked
"Yes, yes, I am." Crowley replied as he turned. "Sam , keep the home fires burning."
"What are you talking about?" Dean asked.
"Sam's not coming." Crowley informed them.
"And why the hell not?" Sam demanded.
"because I don't like you." Crowley replied. Mina rolled her eyes, typical Crowley. "I don't trust you, and oh yes, you keep trying to kill me."
"There's no damn way." Sam said. "This isn't gonna happen."
"I'm not asking you am I? Cause you're not invited," Crowley said, then pointed to Dean. "I'm asking you, what's it gonna be?"
"gentlemen," Crowley scoffed when dean didn't reply. "enjoy your last few sunsets."
"Wait." Dean called after Crowley who was heading to the door. "I'll go."
"Kitten, stay here." Crowley told Mina with a smile as dean turned to his brother.
"What can I say, I believe the guy." Dean said before he followed Crowley out of the house.
Mina walked over to the kitchen table where Sam stood and sat down. He stood there for a little while, just staring at the door. After a while he sat down in the chair diagonal from her. He opened and closed his mouth several times before he finally managed to say something.
"Did that really just happen?" He asked her.
"Yes, it did." She replied. "Sorry, about Crowley. He can be quite a prick sometimes…well, most of the time."
"Who are you anyways?" Sam asked. She held out a hand to him and he shook it.
"Mina McKendrick." She replied.
"Wait, McKendrick, as in the hunter family McKendrick?" Sam asked.
"I didn't think you'd know about my family." Mina responded, slightly surprised.
"Your father was one of the best hunters." Sam said.
"Please, he was less of a father, more of a drill sergeant." Mina told him. "And Crowley doesn't know about my family so I'd appreciate it if you didn't say anything."
"Wait, Crowley doesn't know you're a hunter?" Sam asked.
"I'm not a hunter anymore." Mina informed him. "I quit right after my dad died. I never wanted to be a hunter; once he died I had no one forcing me to be."
"Why are you with Crowley?" Sam inquired.
"I made a demon deal to save a friend of mine." Mina answered, feeling a little ashamed. "I guess I was tougher than my torturers expected. Crowley heard about me and literally dragged me out of hell."
"But why?" Sam asked.
"Who knows why Crowley does anything." Mina sighed as she stood up. "I'm going to make some food, want some?"
"Sure, that'd be great thanks." Sam said.
After eating, Mina returned to her room upstairs. It was obvious that Sam wanted to be alone. She could just barely hear him talking on the phone to someone. It sounded like he was whining about Dean going off with Crowley. Typical men, they always have to whine about things. She decided to take a nap, it was really the only thing she could do at that time, unless she wanted to go sit with Sam, drink beer, and talk about her feelings.
"Yeah, like that's going to happen." Mina said to herself.
She woke a few hours later to the Impala coming into the driveway and Sam's heavy footsteps on the stairs. She got up and went to the stairs to see him talking to Crowley.
"What are you talking about?" Sam asked.
"I begged Dean not to come back." Crowley answered. "We should be miles away, from you. He replied with a colorful rejoinder about my 'corn cute'. So go ahead. Go, ruin our last best hope. It's only the end of the world."
"What was that about?" Mina asked, coming down the stairs as Sam walked off into the other room. Crowley watched her walk down and he stepped around to meet her at the bottom of the stairs.
"Crowley?" She asked. Something was off about him and she didn't like it.
"My kitten's not really a kitten." He stated.
"What do you mean?" Mina asked, not quite understanding. She didn't understand at all.
"Mina McKendrick." Crowley said, looking her dead in the eyes.
"How did you…" Mina trailed off as Crowley pulled the hairclip he had given her from her hair. He took it apart and took one of his demon listening devices out of it.
"You Bastard." She managed. "I'm gonna kill you."
"I suppose you'd know how." Crowley commented, tossing the hairclip in the trash. Mina narrowed her eyes.
"You dragged me out of hell, this was your idea." Mina reminded him. "It's not my fault you didn't know who I was. Ellis didn't either."
"What is it between you and Ellis?" Crowley asked. "He keeps asking about you."
"I saved his life, not on purpose, but it happened." Mina replied. "Look Crowley, you wanted my help, or so you said, it's not my fault you didn't do your research."
"I never said it was your fault Kitten." Crowley spoke up.
"Oh please, I know what kind of person you are." Mina scoffed. "You need a human for something. I can only assume that it isn't going to end well for me."
"We'll discuss this later Kitten." Crowley muttered as Sam and Dean came in, arguing. Dean was holding onto Sam, keeping him from going back into the room.
"Get out of my way." Sam said.
"No."
"Get out of my way Dean." Sam repeated.
"There is only one way to win," Dean told his brother "and it ain't by killing that thing in there."
"Well," Crowley said, walking up to them "Sounds like you got him nice and fluffed. Thanks so much."
"Listen to me." Dean said to Sam as Crowley left tot eh other room. "We need Pestilence to get at the devil and we need Brady to get to Pestilence."
"Why" Sam asked. "Because Crowley said so, because we trust him now? Like I trusted Ruby? Or like I trusted Brady back at school?"
"Look if it doesn't work out we'll gank his ass." Dean told his brother.
"I'm up for that." Mina spoke up. The two brothers looked over at her, sitting on the tattered loveseat by the fireplace. "The three of us could take him."
Sam looked back at Dean before storming off. Dean turned to her and shrugged.
"Looks like it'd be the two of us." Dean muttered, sitting in the arm chair across from her. "You a hunter or something? What are you doing with Crowley?"
"Long story short, I sold my soul to save a friend." Mina responded. "I'm Mina McKendrick."
"That hunter family McKendrick? I met one of your brothers a while back." Dean said, surprised. "You look nothing alike."
"They all look like dad, did they become famous or something behind my back?" Mina asked him, grabbing a beer from the coffee table. If she was going to talk about her family she would need some alcohol, any alcohol. Dean copied her, and nodded. He felt like he understood her pretty well.
"I guess." Dean replied. "I did a job with Ian, he resents the 'fame', said it was ridiculous."
"Ian's always been down to earth," Mina remarked "I bet Skye and Roy are living it up, unless of course something got them. Haven't heard from any of my siblings since I quit."
"Must have been tough, growing up like that." Dean remarked. "I mean it messed us up pretty bad I can only imagine what it would do to a…well.."
"A girl?" Mina asked him with a smile.
"Sorry," Dean offered. "It sounded better in my head."
"Don't worry about it." Mina told him as she stood up. "I'm gonna check on your brother."
"Probably not a good idea." Dean cautioned. Mina looked up to see Crowley coming out of the room Brady was in.
"It's no trouble." She responded before going to find Sam.
