Chapter 14 – Surprise!
I really thought I wouldn't have this chapter finished for today. I was working twice this week, and then my laptop almost broke and I also slept a lot... but here it is, on time! Enjoy!
Jade's POV
Opening night last week went perfectly, my mom loved it! I was so happy she came, the first school event of mine that she's been to in the last 5 years and she loved it. And much to Holly and David's disgust Tori passed a few comments about my costume. And then needless to say when we got home, I received some sarcastic comments from Trina about how she should have gotten the role instead of me.
And just this morning Tori announced to me that she was taking me on a date tonight. All I know is I have to dress fancy and be ready for 6pm. And as it is now 5pm, I've just taken a shower and am deciding what to wear. Tori also locked herself in her room about half an hour ago saying I have to wait till she's ready before I can see her.
5:45pm and I'm ready. I decided on a knee length, dark purple dress, and I accessorised with a thick black belt and a long gold necklace. My hair curled and half pinned up like I wore it to the HA 'prome'. A few squirts of the perfume that I know drives Tori wild and I'm all set.
And just in time because I hear a knock on my bedroom door.
I swing the door open to see Tori stood there in a knee length white dress which shows off her tan skin. She's looking all smug for a moment until she sees me properly and practically starts drooling.
"Damn, and I thought I was looking particularly hot tonight…" she remarks
"Oh trust me, you are" I smirk, leaning in for a kiss. "Soooo… mind telling me where we're going? You know how I feel about surprises" I wink.
"And didn't you learn last week that my surprises are always great?" she says referring to our activities in the pool last week.
"hmm yes but I'd still like to know."
"Fine. I'll tell you half… For the first half we're going out for a nice fancy meal at that new Italian place just round the corner"
"And the second half…?
"Oh no, now that's a surprise"
"Urghh, Torrrrrrriiiiii" I beg.
"Oh now that might be an extra third part" she winks before flipping her hair over her shoulder and taking my hand. "Shall we?"
"We shall"
The waiter that greeted us was an Italian man of about 60 years of age; his uniform was different from everyone else's who was working there so I presumed he must have been the owner. As he shows us our table he goes to pull out my chair for me; well at least he was until Tori interrupted him.
"No, no, let me" she says jumping in front of him and holding the chair for me.
"You two are a cute couple" he says in a thick Italian accent. "Here are your menus, can I get you both a drink while you decide what you want to eat?"
"Thank you, I'll have one of the non-alcoholic cocktails please, surprise me with which one" responds Tori.
"That sounds good, I'll have the same"
"Of course, ladies. I'll be back shortly" he smiled before walking off to the bar.
"You look beautiful" says Tori with a goofy smile
"So do you" I reply, probably with the same goofy smile plastered across my face.
"So, what are you thinking of ordering, everything on this menu sounds great"
"Hmm… I'm thinking the ravioli"
"Ooh... I didn't even notice that, now I'm going to have to rethink! No, I'm having the pizza margherita. I've decided"
"I'm glad you've sorted your little food dilemma there, Vega" I laugh
"It was a big decision, Okay, West?"
"Your drinks, ladies" Says the waiter, placing two large cocktail glasses on the table. We give him our orders as well as a garlic bread to share for starters and he goes off to the kitchen to pass our order in.
"I wonder what these taste like" says Tori observing her glass.
"That's what she said" I wink.
"Oh, Jade-"
"And that." I say raising an eyebrow at her. "Just shut up and taste it then!"
We both take a sip from our orange looking drink.
"Peachy! I love peaches!" she exclaims.
"Wow, someone's getting excited" I laugh. "But I also love peaches"
After our meal, which was amazing by the way, Tori pays for the whole meal and we head outside.
"And now for part dos" she smiles as she reaches into her bag and pulls out 2 printed out pages and hands them to me. I first notice that they're tickets to something, then I see what for.
"We're going to see Chicago!"
"I saw that the Broadway show was doing a tour and I just had to take you"
"Because of the costumes they wear?"
"A little bit"
"Come on, then" I smile taking her hand in mine. "This is an amazing surprise, I love you"
"I love you too" she says with her goofy smile again.
A short drive later and we reach the theatre. She buys us a large drink between us and we take our seats. We have such great seats, I can't even begin to imagine how much these seats must have cost. Tori was sat fidgeting for so long, but when the lights went completely out she soon sat still in time for the show to start.
Midway through I glance over at Tori who is completely gorming out at their costumes"
"Close your mouth, Babe. You'll catch flies" I whisper.
"What?"
"Never mind, just watch the show"
The show finishes and receives a standing ovation from the whole audience. Tori spends the whole drive home singing various songs from the musical. I did join in with a few but I do like to just listen to her voice when she sings.
"I've had a great time tonight" I smile as we pull up at home.
"Me too, aren't I great?"
"Mmm, the best" I say leaning in and placing my lips on hers. "So… that part three you mentioned before?"
"Ahh well, we'll have to see"
We open the door in the hope to see that everyone was asleep, but that wasn't the case. Mrs Vega and Trina were sat on the sofa crying at some movie.
"Hey girls, did you have a nice night?" asks Mrs Vega between sobs
"Yeah, the show was amazing" responds Tori. "What are you watching?"
"My sister's keeper" sobs Trina
"It's not long been on, would you two like to join us?" asks Holly
"Sure, we'll just go get changed out of these dresses" I say.
"Part three?" Smirks Tori as we get upstairs.
"As much as I'd love part three we can't as your mother is right downstairs and is waiting for us"
"Fine, I'll go get changed" she pouts
By the end of the movie we're all an emotional wreck, yes even me. We managed to watch the whole movie without me and Trina passing comments at each other so it was a nice evening. Tori spent the whole time in my arms so that just made it even better.
Tori walked me to my bedroom door because she said she'd have walked me home but as we live in the same house this will have to do. She gives me a goodnight kiss and heads off to her room. The perfect end to the perfect night.
