Chapter 15 – Confrontations
Sunday! Here it is!
Tori's POV
About a month has passed since I surprised Jade with our date to see Chicago; and it was edging closer to the final performance of Hollywood Art's own version of the show. Our school's shows usually only last a month before they start preparing for a different one; so more people have a chance of being in one. Jade had been tired out recently with 2 shows a week (it was open to the public) due to her many tiring song and dance routines. So she was kind of happy for it to be coming to an end.
Tonight was the final show and we were spending the day having a picnic in the park with everybody; they were all coming to tonight's show too.
"Jade, are you ready? Cat will be getting impatient" I say through the door to her bedroom.
"Yeah, come in. Just putting my shoes on" I hear her say from the other side of the door
"I found blanket for us, and I made you some coffee; thought you might need it"
"Oh god, yes. I'm looking forward to catching up on sleep after tonight." She says as she finishes tying her shoe lace and standing up. "Thank you" she says taking the travel mug of coffee and taking a long sip. "ahh, I love coffee"
"Really? I would never have guessed" I say using her mock voice.
"Come on, we should go rescue everyone from Cat" She says taking my hand and leading us out the house.
"YAY-EY Jadey and Tori are here now! Look Jadey I found a ladybug!" Cat says as we walk over to where they're all sat on the grass.
"Don't call me that; and don't you think you should put that back?" she says as Cat puts her hand containing the ladybug near Jade's face.
"Kaykaaay" she says skipping off towards a cluster of trees to return the bug.
"Thank god you two are here; she was driving me crazy!" cries Andre.
"I find her endearing" protests Robbie
"Robbie, when are you going to ask her out a date? It's quite obvious that you like her!" argues Beck.
"What? Me, and Cat? I don't…" she says before he gets distracted by gawping at Cat running back towards us.
"My point proven" says Beck with a smile.
"I put the ladybug back! I also saw a butterfly but I couldn't catch it to show you guys"
"We believe you Cat" I say, "Look we brought you fairy cakes" I say pulling some brightly coloured cupcakes out of my bag.
"YAY-EY, I love fairy cakes!" she says as she starts to lick the buttercream off the cake.
"I feel like it's been ages since we all hung out like this" says Robbie.
"Yeah me too, we really need to catch up; so what's happening with everyone?" I ask
"Not much with me, as you guys may have noticed I don't have Rex with me anymore; I've left him at home." States Robbie rather proudly
"It's about time." Jade says.
"Can't say I'm not relieved to hear that" I confess. "Andre? Beck? What about you?"
"Oh you know, this and that." Andre starts "Wrote a few songs, got an A in my song writing class"
"I've actually started dating someone" confesses Beck, which catches Jade's attention "and it's going really well"
"That's great, Beck. I'm really happy for you, I still felt a little guilty for leaving you like I did"
"Jade, it worked out so much better for the both of us. I mean I loved being with you but we just weren't right for each other. You're so much happier with Tori than you ever were with me"
"I'm just glad you found someone" she smiles
"Thank you, Jade"
The rest of our time we spend talking about everything and nothing; catching up in more detail, telling a few stories; Cat catching us up on what her brother has been up to recently.
"What time is it? Wow, doesn't time fly when you're having fun?" I say noticing that we've been sat here for about 3 hours now.
"I should probably get going; I need to shower and do my hair and everything for the show later. You're all coming to watch tonight aren't you?" Says Jade.
"Yeah, can't wait, I made popcorn and everything" says Andre
"I love popcorn! This one time, my brother-"
"Okay, Cat. Tell me later okay?"
"Kaykayyyy"
"I'll come too, cook us something to eat while you're getting ready" I say standing up "Bye guys, and see you later"
Jade's POV
Final show. I have really enjoyed this role, but it hasn't half tired me out. I'm in full costume, 5 minutes before show, I can see Tori and everyone sat in the audience waiting patiently for the show to start.
"Last show, you ready?" says Heather, who plays Roxie.
"Yeah, I should get on stage, curtains up soon, good luck" I say
"Break a leg!" I hear her call after me as I head on stage.
I get in place on stage, and I see Sikowitz give me a thumbs up as the curtains open and ''All That Jazz" starts.
"And all that Jazz
THAT JAZZ"
Heather and I finish off the final song of the final show. Once the music stops she grabs my hand and lifts it up in the air before we take our final bow. The whole audience is on their feet.
"I've loved being in this with you, I was so worried I'd end up working with that Trina girl"
"At least you don't have to live with her" I laugh
"Oh yeah, she's Tori's sister, sometimes I forget because of how talented Tori is and Trina is well… not so much"
"I know right? I should go see everyone, Cat looks like she's about to explode"
"Oh god, yeah you better go. I'll see you in math next week"
"YAY-EY JADEY! THAT WAS SO GOOD!"
"Thanks Cat, just stop bouncing okay?"
"Kaykayyy"
Andre, Beck, Robbie and Tori all congratulate me on the performance, Tori showing a bit more affection than the others.
"Do you get to keep this costume?" she whispers seductively in my ear as she hugs me
"I could probably keep hold of it over the weekend before I give it back"
"That'll do" I hear her smirk.
"Jade" I hear a voice say from behind me, Tori obviously sees who it is because she stops hugging me and steps back a little, still holding my hand though.
"Dad" I say when I turn round seeing who it is, he's stood with my mom which is a very unusual sight, not the mention he's at one of my plays… and talking to me…
"Could you guys give us a moment?" my mom says to everyone "you can stay Tori"
"Why are you here?" I ask coldly to my dad
"Your mother asked me to come, she told me how great you were on opening night and that I should come watch"
I really don't know what to say, I look over to Tori and she seems to be lost for words too.
"You were very good tonight Jade. Well done" he says
"Thanks"
"Listen… I'm still not happy about this… relationship you have with Miss Vega" I was expecting that.
"I don't care what you think about it. I love her." He winces
"I can't accept this. Sorry. Good job in the play, I have to go" and without another word he turns round and walks off, my mom goes to shout him back but decides it isn't worth it.
"I'm so sorry about that, Jade. I really thought he was beginning to accept it" my mom says
"You got him to come to the play, he's only ever been to one other and it was because I wrote it. He's never been to one I've starred in."
"I'm not going to lie, it wasn't easy. I'm sorry"
"It's not your fault, it's no one's but his own" Tori says gripping my hand tighter
"I know"
"Jade, I have to go but you were really amazing. Meet me for coffee tomorrow? I need to talk to you. Don't worry it's nothing bad"
"Okay" I nod "I'll text you later about times"
"Okay, bye girls" she says giving us both a hug and leaving.
