Chapter Seven.
I can't believe I actually managed to get this done, been awhile. Anyway, enjoy.
For some reason, this chapter is being extremely difficult and keeps vanishing and becoming unreadable. So to those that have seen it, that's why I've uploaded it twice to try and fix the damn thing. It's frustrating.
The stench of blood coursed through Zero's senses, wracking through his body in a tremor similar to a blow to the face.
With wide eyes, Zero suddenly toned out whatever his partner had to say, whipping his gaze over towards the tantalizing scent slinking out from the depths of the forest. The particles were floating in the air to tempt his fangs to come out and play. There wasn't a doubt in his mind, the blood spilt was fresh. Someone had been critically injured, if not killed, from the mass amount coating the area. It made Zero's stomach plummet in disgust and his tongue dance behind his firmly shut lips. Two contradicting reactions that left the hunter feeling nauseous. But this was no time for self-loathing.
Locking away his feral desires behind crisp iron bars, Zero took a deep breath, praying to anyone who would listen to keep the burning need away from his eyes. The prayer was left unanswered and his thick dark lashes fluttered down to hide away his distress. Even from beneath his eyelids, Zero could practically see Kaito's concentrated stare boring into his soul. Those eyes, both familiar and supporting, gauging his reactions with the intent to fire if necessary. That was one of Kaito's most redeeming traits, he'd put him down if the action was ever needed. But now was not that time. Clawing back his sparked hunger, Zero willed his eyes to return to their birth shade, and refocused on the area the scent had originated from. As he stared off into the forest, while holding his breath, Zero tried to decipher what kind of blood was shed.
The smell was too potent and riddled with power to be that of a mere human's, yet it didn't have the disgusting lace of rot that a Level E's blood harbored, if he had to give a rough guess, he'd say that the victim had to have been at least a Level C vampire. With that knowledge in mind…Zero's lips pulled down into a contemplative scowl. The victim could have easily been one of Kaname's allies.
Or an enemy that was taken down right beneath their radar.
Either way, Zero didn't like it. Not one bit.
"What's bothering you?"
Keeping his gaze trained on the dark shadows in the foliage, Zero replied in a gruff voice, "Blood has been spilt, and a lot of it."
Without needing to see Kaito's reaction, Zero's trained fingers slid underneath his trench coat to reach into his back pocket, the welcoming chill of the Bloody Rose kissing his fingertips a good morning. The weapon's weight a comforting and overly familiar presence in his hand as he readied it at his side. Then he began to step toward the forest, every sense he had trained on the area around him. From where he approached, in easy but cautious steps, Zero's alert ears could hear the faint sound of the wind shifting through the trees, the way the earth silently molded into the ridges of his boots with the pressure of his weight, and the tint of ash in the air, coming from the north eastern direction of his location. He had no doubts the ash was the remains of the bloodsucker's body.
Moving in the direction he mapped out in his head, Zero's form was encased with shadows when he addressed his partner, "go check the mansion." Zero didn't bother to explain his own destination when he gave the order; Kaito was smart enough to already know that he was going to go get a detailed report of what happened out there. If Kaito had sensed the disturbance first, he would've done the same thing.
Nodding curtly at what Zero said, Kaito made his way to the door, "I'll check the downstairs premises first, afterwards I'll check the upper levels. We'll regroup in the foyer."
Zero grunted, his pale hand pressed into the rough bark of a tree, and then he was off, heading into the black of night. The sound of the manor door shutting a loud noise in the back of his mind.
Zero didn't linger though; he kept moving forward, one step at a time.
It didn't take him long to find the crime scene, his eyes bright sunlit rubies by the time he entered the small clearing. Blood was slathered over the blades of grass swaying in the wind, the smell of death heavy in the air as he approached the disorganized pile of dust between the rays of light from the holes in the canopy above where the moonlight peeked through.
Kneeling down beside the ashes, Zero slid on a glove and dipped his fingers into the residue, his eyes scanning the area in order to try and figure out what position the vampire died in. Judging by the shape…
The bastard was split in half.
Scowling at the mental image, Zero glanced up through the trees, and was surprised to see he had a perfect view of a mansion window. Any doubts that he had went to rest, Kaname had to have known what happened. No Pureblood could remain oblivious to something that near in proximity. They didn't function that way. Furrowing his brows, he brushed the dust off his fingers and instead gathered some of the hardening blood in his palms, smearing it over his gloves. The smell was definitely of noble status, and glancing around the surrounding area, there was no sign of a struggle. Looking toward the mansion where the vampire's scent originated from, Zero could only deduct that the noble had been running away from something.
And he had a pretty good idea what that something was.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, Zero ripped off his soiled gloves and ran his fingers through his bangs. So, an enemy really had gotten passed them. What the hell was the point of guarding a place if he didn't guard it! Gritting his teeth, he looked to the side before standing up. If he hadn't been so busy worrying about Kuran and the little lamb in the lion's den, maybe they could have interrogated the guy and got some answers.
He wouldn't make the same mistake twice.
Sighing again for good measure, Zero glanced up at window highlighted by the moonlight and let a bead of concern slide into his heart, then he extinguished it without a second's notice and headed back to his partner.
They had a lot to discuss.
Clues.
That's what he was looking for.
With his eyes squinted into a sharp glare of concentration, Kaito trudged around the Kuran household. Nothing seemed out of place, not even a single inch of dust that had been there previously had been removed. Either there was never a security breach, or the culprit was extremely thorough. Blowing a strand of ash brown hair out his eye, the hunter circled the perimeter again, checking anything he could've missed. Each brick was solidly in place, the floor even and untouched, the walls empty of a lingering presence. But strangely enough, he couldn't sense any of the vampire's auras amongst the walls. Not even the maids.
It was tampered with.
Strong fingertips curved into the stone as old as the feelings hidden away inside his heart. Deep emerald hues glossed back and forth over the empty foyer, making sure no one was around before he began picking at the wall. As he expected, nothing happened.
There had to be something.
Prodding at the wall, Kaito searched for a misplaced brick, or a hole, or anything suspicious, really.
Again, he came out empty handed.
Piece of shit-
Kaito grinded his teeth together, and he suddenly punched the wall as hard as he could, "open dammit!"
A subtle clicking noise shifted behind the wall, and Kaito froze. Without warning the brick wall pushed back away from his fist to drop into the floor, a large tunnel appearing from the opened passage. The aura of a vampire still clinging to its rock walls.
"Well I'll be damned." Kaito breathed out, barely able to hide the fact he was impressed. Reaching out to touch the cool black rocks aligning the walls of the tunnel, he brushed his fingers over the beading moisture. The walls felt as though they belonged in a cave, not the wall of some ancient manor.
He couldn't wait to show Zero this one.
"Kaito, did you find anything?"
Speak of the devil.
"I did."
Waving Zero over to his location beneath the staircase, Kaito watched in amusement as Zero's enlarged to the size of dinner plates, he fought the urge to smirk. "I found a rat hole." Stepping back away from his prize, the elder hunter turned towards the silverette, "What'd you find?"
"Enough to know that the leech killed wasn't an ally."
Kaito's questioning gaze met his, and Zero gestured his head toward the cave. "The vampire snuck in through there, and he must've messed up somewhere along the line. No signs of a struggle, just ashes."
"I take it wasn't some amateur either. Kuran must've picked him off."
Zero nodded his head in agreement before leaning back against the wall, his arms crossing over his chest. "Kuran is aware of the enemy. But…" Zero stared into the black hole in the wall, "I doubt he knows about that."
Kaito leaned on the wall opposite Zero, their gaze clashing as Kaito stated bluntly, "We either tell him or keep this little secret to ourselves."
They were on the same page.
"We're in the dark as it is. This could be the advantage we need against the enemy, we know their access point."
Kaito closed his eyes, a hint of a chuckle escaping his mouth before he gently kicked out his leg to nudge Zero's. "We could pick them off one by one."
"Exactly." Zero replied and Kaito hit the wall again, watching as the black melted away into brick.
"We do it your way."
A pair of heels clicked gracefully over towards a towering oak door, the ends of a silky maroon dress swishing around slender pale legs. The soft clacking that had echoed down the barren halls drew to a close as the dainty pair of feet paused inches away from the wooden passage way, chocolate strands swept over a shoulder as Yuuki tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear, her breath coming out softly as she listened for any noise in the room before her. All she could hear was the distinct sound of a pen scraping over paper. Kaname had to have been doing the paperwork that never failed to pile in heaps on his desk, it seemed like no matter how much he did, the pile only grew larger, never dwindling in size. It made her heart ache to always see her brother so busy—never having the time to enjoy life's little gifts—it almost made her resolve shatter right then and there.
But she had to talk to him. Burden or not, she had to interrupt him during his work. It was the only time she knew he'd give her the time of day. With a deep breath, she raised her hand—so tiny compared to Zero's and Kaname's—and prepared to knock.
Deep wine eyes, tired and full of sorrow flashed through her mind.
Her fist stayed suspended in the air.
Maybe it would be better to try again another time? Surely, Kaname was exhausted as it was, he didn't need her to bother him as well. He had already done so much for her, so much she could never truly repay him. Did she even deserve to ask him any questions? She who had caused him the most suffering? Large brown eyes became hidden away behind luscious brown locks, tears beginning to form in the corner of her eyes to moisten them with heartfelt emotion. Even after four years, she couldn't do anything for her brother in return for his protection. She couldn't just wash away the loneliness he had felt in her absence; she had tried, but the effort was in vain. With each passing year, her brother had become more and more distant, looking through her rather than acknowledging her existence. At first, it had frustrated her beyond belief but after a while she had simply accepted his behavior, because honestly, with each time her beloved brother would gaze out the window, she could have sworn he had traveled somewhere far away. A place she could no longer reach him. Kaname was suffering in silence, shutting everyone out. The least she could do was leave him be.
Yuuki's arm became limp at her side, and she pivoted, walking away from the presence lingering inside the study. Long brown hair shielding her own pain from prying eyes.
Her pain was nothing compared to his.
Nothing compared to theirs.
Strong arms were secured around her petite waist, the concern of a brother seeping into her skin as Zero's chin rested upon her head, "Tell me, are you rid of all your worries and fears now?"
Yet, just before that, she had ripped his heart out. "The vampire side of me…is devouring the human half."
How could she be so cruel?
"Are you scared of me, Yuuki?"
Yuuki had turned and ran, grasping onto Zero's hand for dear life. Leaving Kaname to stand in the dark alone.
So naïve?
"Is there a reason you didn't come in?" A voice pierced through her recollection, a startled sound escaping her throat as she stumbled backwards to peer at the person in front of her. Kaname was standing before her, his tall frame towering over hers as his eyes studied her very soul.
"Kaname!" She yelped in surprise, before her small hands came up to rest over her erratic heartbeat.
Kaname's eyes narrowed and the brunette stepped closer, an edge in his melodic voice when he spoke, "that didn't answer my question, Yuuki."
The young pureblood flinched, a sheepish expression taking her features, "I'm sorry, I didn't…" Yuuki trailed off before her lips formed a silly grin, "I just wanted to ask you something stupid, so I thought I'd ask you later. Sorry for being such a scatter brain."
Silence met the answer, but Yuuki's mask was held in place with strained hands.
"I see."
A hand, familiar and distant all at once, gently slid down the side of her head to thread between the stands of her hair, cradling her gently in an embrace that felt like a memory. Yuuki felt her eyes widen, staring up at her brother in a mixture of sadness and affection. When was the last time he had done such a simple gesture toward her?
"Kaname…?" Her voice questioned, and Kaname's eyes suddenly darkened with an emotion she didn't recognize. The emotion left her feeling cold. It was similar to when the barrel of Zero's gun was in her face.
"I have caused this expression to cross your face, haven't I?" Kaname's face became a painted picture of resignation, and Yuuki's heart broke, tears welling in her eyes. She hated seeing him like this; she was the only one who saw how bad he was hurting. Helpless and unable to bring the light back in his eyes, a light that had been present at the Academy. What had he lost? What was she not seeing? "I made you stop approaching me."
"No, I…" She tried to explain her actions, but the words got caught in her throat and Kaname's gentle touch pulled away. She went to grab his arm, to stop him from running away from her—but his next words stopped her dead in her tracks.
"Do you no longer wish to stay here?"
What?
Thrusting up her head in a panicked movement, her voice rushed out in a desperate plea to get him to understand, "That's not it at all! I want to be by you, I really do, you're my brother and I love you! I want to continue living here with you!"
For a moment, there were no words, but then his hand returned to its spot on her head, and relief poured in her system. She smiled at him and Kaname chuckled.
"Although you do not smile from your heart, you still have such a radiant light…" Yuuki blinked as Kaname tilted her head back with a gentle tug of his hand, "it reminds me of his, but dimmer." Suddenly Kaname's aura stabbed through her in fury, leaving every sense in her body on edge, "much dimmer."
Shock coursed through her blood, bright crimson staining her vision as Kaname stared straight through her.
It reminds me of his…
Kaname's arms were suddenly enveloped around her frame, his face buried in her hair and the crook of her neck. Yuuki sucked in a breath through her trembling lips when he tugged her head to the side, sharp fangs brushing over her unblemished flesh. She squeezed her eyes shut, a spark of childish fear churning in her stomach before the fangs pierced deep into her pulsing artery, the scent of her own blood coating the mansion as her back hit the wall. The weight of her brother dragged her farther and farther down, past the floor of the mansion, to the depths of the dark abyss inside of her. A child version of herself laughing in glee.
Salt water mingled with the scent of blood. Something wet trailing down the slope of her cheek as her world started to blur around her, Kaname's hungry gulps echoing in her ears.
Why is your thirst so strong?
Who made you this way?
Dull nails dug into Kaname's back, "Stop…" Yuuki whimpered when her hand fell away. Black creeping into her vision.
Before everything faded away, she felt the fangs leave her neck, and a whisper that pounded in time with her lethargic heartbeats slithered into her heart.
"Forgive me, Yuuki."
Yuuki slumped forward, her mind going blank.
Fixing his rumpled shirt, Kaname returned to his study after lying Yuuki down in her bed. The taste of her rich blood still staining his tongue. But the ache of hunger still rang true in his throat, much to his annoyance. The ache never truly dissipated. He could dump a fountain of blood down his throat, bask in the flavor of every person available, and it still would not be enough to quench his thirst. A curse placed upon him the minute he decided to taste Zero's blood for the first time.
"Kuran, just get it over with."
Kiryu never ceased to amaze him. Sacrificing his blood in order to protect his most precious person, to the person he hated above all else, was a feat he didn't think the brat was capable of. Staring down at the teen in annoyance, Kuran roughly slammed the boy against the wall, ignoring Zero's growl of irritation.
"Even now, you order me around as if you have that right." Feeling his anger manifest in his eyes, Kaname swiftly yanked the hunter's head to the side, and bit down in the supple flesh below.
At that moment, something in him awakened.
Blood stained his lips and splattered on the wall behind the silverette recklessly as his inner beast came out to play, his tongue lapping up the elixir in bliss. Ruthless, and trembling with need, Kaname sunk his fangs in deeper hearing Zero groan beneath him. "Kuran!" The male grunted in rage, and his lips pulled into a wicked simper, a wet tongue worshipping each drop of blood that leaked from the wound he had made.
He loved it.
More drops slid down his parched throat like a drowning man in need of air, and then he tasted it.
Such a radiant light…
He pulled away, and when disdain filled lilac eyes spat at him, all he could wonder, is how such a person could possibly hold such a gentle sensation within their blood.
Placing his fingertips against the base of his throat, Kaname's wine orbs flashed red before they settled down to their original shade. That simple selfish wish had been his downfall. If he had never seen that boy's heart, pinned away behind his rigid demeanor, he never would've become so obsessed with his existence. Kaname never would've realized just who Zero Kiryu truly was behind those empty threats. If he had never fallen in love with the silverette, everything would have fallen into place. He would've taken his sister as his wife as she was born to do, protect her with everything he had, and just shut out the world. Yuuki would've been the light in his life. She had always been such a bright existence in his life, innocent, perfect. He had always thought his heart beat for her alone, until he saw a much brighter light in a boy who could still love so much despite being broken.
"Why did you save that boy?"
Jolting in shock, Kiryu peered at him from his shoulder, in his arms was a young human boy, and blood was caked on his teal blue shirt. Yet the blood didn't belong to the youth, but his rescuer. A long scratch was present down the side of Zero's arm.
Zero glared at him, his mouth sneered down in disbelief, "Give me a single reason I wouldn't have saved him." He shot back, cradling the kid protectively, probably without his own knowledge.
Kaname almost smiled.
Retracting his hand away from his neck, Kaname's eyes became hooded. Just a little longer, and he could reclaim his heart. Just a little more… Leaning against his desk, Kaname reopened his gaze and grabbed a wine glass, pouring in bitter red liquid.
"Seiren."
"Yes, Kaname-sama?" A young woman appeared, her short silver tresses shifting slightly as she obeyed his call.
The rim of the glass pressed against his lips and the alcohol splashed over the tip of his tongue, "Retrieve Adiou, tell him I have to discuss something with him."
Seiren bowed her head low, her hand coming to rest over her heart in a sign of loyalty. "Yes." Then just like that, she was gone.
Now all he had to do was wait. Taking another sip of his wine, Kaname sat in his chair and reached for a pen.
Ten minutes had ticked by on the clock when the knock sounded from the door.
Glancing from his most recently finished document, Kaname granted the expected boy entry.
"K-Kaname-sama, you wanted to see me?"
Kaname merely gestured to the chair on the other end of his desk, "Take a seat."
Gulping lightly, Adiou quickly seated himself and looked at his master expectantly; trying to calm down his mind that was running with a million things he could've done wrong.
The Pure blood studied the noble's stiff posture for a good minute before he poured another glass of wine, this time holding it out towards the ice user.
Adiou seemed taken aback by his offer before accepting the offer, his shoulders loosened a bit when he took a slow gulp. Kaname spotted the opportune moment, and did what he did best, took advantage of it. "I need your help, Adiou."
The blonde immediately ceased drinking, the glass being placed hazardously on Kaname's desk when Adiou threw his full attention at him.
"Tonight, I will be leaving in order to take care of some business. I will be gone no longer than a day, but with the current events, I can't take any chances." Cerulean hues hardened in determination. "That's why I need you. I want you to be Yuuki's shield, you will not allow her to leave the estate, or wander outside. Be by her side at all times and do not let her come to harm. As a trusted friend to both myself and Yuuki," Kaname examined the blonde's response carefully, watching as his eyes brightened with pride. He was still the perfect candidate. "You're the only one who can carry out this task. I know you'll guard her with your life."
Adiou's gaze drifted downward, the smiling Pureblood flashing in his mind. The strange fluttery sensation in his stomach made him frown, a tinge of pink coating his cheek. Would he give his life for Yuuki? That brat who was walking in shoes too big for her feet? His brow twitched when his burning cheeks provided him an answer. "I understand, but what about Kiryu, should I keep an eye on him too?"
"There's no need. I doubt his partner will let him come to harm." Kaname stated dryly before he leveled the noble with a look, "I trust you will not disappoint me."
"Of course not Kaname-sama. I'll guard Yuuki-c—er—Yuuki-sama, with my life."
"Then you are dismissed."
Bowing low, Adiou stood from his seat and made his way to leave."One more thing," Pausing with his hand on the door handle, the vampire turned to look as his leader, "Adiou, do not hesitate from here on out."
"Yes, Kaname-sama."
With the sound of the door closing as his cue, Kaname got ready to depart.
Crisp fingertips trailed along the smooth contours of a woman's back, sliding down to rest just above the slope of the blonde's curved figure. Each dip and curve that was brushed made the target shiver, a breathy sigh caressing the side of his awaiting ear. The man could taste the woman's desire and it made his mouth moisten with his own, his beautifully crafted fangs awakening to thrum with lust. Blood red eyes met the pair staring down at him, and then he smirked.
"What do you want?" The whispered question made the female's soft lips part, the legs that straddled his waist trembling, her milky thighs pressing roughly against his. The scent of her arousal filled the air in a sweet musky scent. He breathed deeply and watched with fascination as the woman's cheeks flushed strawberry.
Lowering his face to the crook of her neck, his fangs scraped over the offered flesh, and he asked again, "What is it you want?"
"I want you to take me, Kazuma-sama. Everything I have to offer."
Kazuma chuckled, his sapphire hues that dwelled animalistic cravings flashed with pure glee. The girl sitting on his lap, was nothing less than beautiful. She had long tresses of blonde hair that flowed down her back like ripples in a pond, while her bright red eyes pleaded with him in hunger , the gems of carinal desire framed by full blonde lashes and stray pieces of her long bangs that he wanted to caress. She was perfect, his gaze hungrily taking in her large fleshy mounds that stood proudly for his attention, his gaze further roaming to acknowledge her thick thighs that he craved to have constrict around his waist as he drove into her tight body, again and again. Yes, she was perfect. But she'd be even better when he was done with her. A cruel gleam slithered beneath sapphire.
"So be it." He responded. Then his fangs were fully sheathed beneath her flesh, the sound of her gasp falling on deaf ears her blood splattered into his mouth to coat his tongue laced with begilment. It wasn't enough. Shoving his fangs deeper as her nails dug into his broad shoulders, he fed on his treat without remorse. Red, the color of wrath, staining his mouth with its glory. A color truly befitting a Pureblood.
"Kazuma-sama…" The noble murmured, her head falling back as her grip slackened.
Kazuma jerked out his fangs roughly, slashing open her slender neck in the process. He paid it no mind though as his tongue lapped at the laceration he created. With his tongue still smearing the blood against his marble lips, he grabbed the blonde's meaty hips in his large palms, slamming the girl's body down on his throbbing length, to sink balls deep into her hot, wet, cavern. "Kazuma-sama!" She moaned out as a deliciously warm muscle mapped out the area on the side of his neck, her soft petal lips raining affection across his flesh in waves. Smirking, he shifted his hips to push deeper into her warmth.
She lifted her hips, and Kazuma's hair brushed against his shoulders as his head tipped back in ecstasy.
He wanted her to lose control.
"Ride m—"
A knock crashed through their hushed breathing and a glass vase in the corner of the room shattered.
Letting out a squeak as Kazuma shoved her back on the bed, the man ripped on a robe over his shoulders, before swinging the door open with his mind. "I said I didn't wish to be disturbed." He hissed, and no sooner, did a woman emerge from the doorway, her long blonde tresses draping down to her feet. With grace fit for a queen, she smiled politely, her dark blue eyes mockingly apologetic.
"Sorry to interrupt, Kazuma-san. But I have just been dying to see you."
With a hint of surprise taking his orbs, Kazuma quickly regained composure, tilting his head at his unexpected visitor, "It's been a long time, Miss. Shirabuki."
"Now there's no need to be so formal, after all, we were once well acquainted with each other were we not?" To emphasis her point, she smiled sweetly at the naked noble on the bed, and the other woman flushed pink, hiding her body.
Kazuma smiled as well, before ushering the noble out his room with a promise of later. Then he turned to the Pureblood, and smiled, patting the spot on his bed beside him.
"I do believe we have much to discuss. The next phase is already being set in motion."
"Indeed. And a blood crazed Kuran is almost ready to rejoin the party."
Sitting beside the dark haired man, Sara brought her hand to rest on his shoulder, a devious smile replacing her sugar coated one, "Have you invited the youngest Kuran yet?"
"Why of course, her ride will be given tomorrow."
The door to the foyer creaked open, and Zero and Kaito both looked towards the noise. They were both lounging on the staircase, side by side, when the sound of footsteps behind them pricked at their senses.
Kaname stood there in all his glory, Ruka and Kain by his side, like loyal bodyguards.
Zero nodded toward them in acknowledgement, before he returned his focus on Kaito, who looked a little peeved at the group's arrival.
"Going somewhere?" Kaito asked, taking in the vampire's get up. They were all dressed in dark coats, an air of urgency crawling beneath their deceptively still auras.
Zero noticed as well, his eyes seeking Kaname's. They found what the sought for, and Kaname's aura seemed to grow heavy on the occupants in the room.
"We'll be back in a day, be wary of enemy movements."
"You don't have to tell us how to do our jobs." Kaito commented before glancing over at Zero, seeing his eyes on Kaname, he glanced away again. "We'll hold down the fort." Was his last sarcastic remark before he stood up, "I'll see you later, Zero."
Zero broke his stare away from Kaname to see Kaito's retreating back. "Where are you going?"
"To get something to eat, those bloodsucker's have to have something edible around here."
With that, Kaito disappeared from sight, and Zero felt a little…miffed. With his brows scrunching, he rose to his own feet just as the vampires stalked past him. Meaning to follow after his friend, Zero started in the direction Kaito ventured off to.
But a hand on his arm forced him to a stop.
Turing his head, he saw that Ruka and Kain were long gone, leaving him alone with Kaname. Lips pulled down into an angry scowl, Zero's eyes shimmered with irritation. "Let go of me."
To Zero's honest surprise, Kaname listened to him and backed off, but not without a few parting words, "stay safe, Kiryu."
The whisper fluttered into Zero's yearning ears…and amethyst gems fought to stay indifferent. Watching in a provoked shimmer of tainted affection as Kaname walked away, the black ends of his trench coat blending into the darkness outside when he opened the door. Then just like that, he was gone. His presence completely wiped from the area.
Damn Pureblood.
Turning on his heel, he went after the original person he meant to follow, his emotions being carefuly caged as he did so.
"You better stay safe too, Kuran." Zero murmured under his breath, his fingers coiling into a fist, "I still want answers."
Author's note: It has been an entire year since I first started this story, and needless to say, I've been struggling to continue it. With both my personality and writing in general developing, I'm trying to remember where I was first going with this. But I won't be dropping it and I have some new ideas for this story, so basically, I'm just asking for your support and I hope the story continues to please the readers. It'd be greatly appreciated if you, review, follow, or favorite. The next update will happen...eventually. I'm not very good with schedules.
