Chapter six: Portugal, Amiga or Enemiga?
Iggy watched as the ship from Portugal drew near, a flag of truce waving in the wind from the flag mast. He adjusted his large-brimmed hat back over his head, there was still a little blood oozing from the cuts that were inflicted in his match with the now chained Spanish captain. Antonio looked a little hopeful, however, despite his defeat.
"Excellent timing," Iggy mumbled. He knew something that Antonio did not know.
Upon the bow of the long and graceful sailing ship called Milagre, stood the ship's captain. A tall, thin, but bountiful figure, elegantly dressed in a silk uniform, watching with green, piercing eyes. She was the ship's captain, her hair was long and flowing in the breeze. She was beautiful…if not for her constant frown and bad attitude. Her eyes were narrow as the ship drew near and hailed for a meet. She boarded the Trunfante.
Iggy bowed, removing his hat and acting humble in a joking way, "Welcome, Captain Henrique, to my humble winnings." He glanced up to see she was still frowning. "Hm.." he stood and replaced his hat.
Antonio tried to break free of the guards, but it only caused his chains to rumble. "Afonsa, help mi!"
She glanced at him. "Captain Carriedo…what a bind you are in." She gave a smug grin and chuckle. "I saw the two ships in battle. I thought to help out, meu amigo." She walked over to the English captain.
"Glad I was on your mind," Iggy smiled.
"Que…." Antonio was confused. "You are friends….with him?!"
"Sim," she tossed her hair back. "On many occasions he has been there to bail meu out. Besides, you refused to share your wealth comigo."
Antonio grew angry. "That's a lie, you started it! You cut off all routs to India, I was poor. I took a chance y navegar alrededor del mundo! I discovered the Amerícas on mi own. Then you ask to share…if it wasn't for the gold mi country would have starved, no thanks to you. I am not to blame because we are más ricos! I didn't cut off the rout, I shared it to brave souls."
"Heh…hahahahaha!" she laughed. "We may be siblings but why would I help you? There is bad blood between us, there always has been. People think we are the same, but ñao. We have always been diferente."
"But-" Antonio was cut off by Iggy.
"You don't have to argue with him, dear lady," he tried to flatter her, "instead let me show you the gold we just acquired. I am willing to split it evenly to prove our friendship."
"Stay your fake words, the gold I will see, though" she frowned again.
"They are not fake, but I will oblige you. Williams, escort the good captain to the loot."
"Aye, sir," the first mate obeyed.
Iggy glanced at Antonio with an angry look of unfinished business. Then he smirked. Henrique walked down to the haul, but Iggy, gripped Antonio's shirt and pulled him close, whispering in his ear, "how does it feel to have your own sister turn against you? Heh, I will always have an upper hand on you."
Antonio felt his spirit sink. He thought, I failed. I failed mi king y queen. I failed Lovino. I failed mi crew. Everyone…
A small Italian boy fumbled out the large doors, landing on his face, the books he stacked up to reach the handles were scattered everywhere from falling. "Ow, darn you, door! Trying to make my life harder, eh! You and your stupido tall-ness being all tall anda studida!" he sat up and brushed himself off. He gasped. There were English sailors all around and they were all staring at him. "G-Gahhh!" he blushed and ran.
"Catch him, lads!" one of them shouted, but somehow Lovino dodged them. "Ha, dumbasses!" he stopped in his tracks. He saw Iggy gripping Antonio's shirt and smirking and he saw Antonio chained and defeated. "No…impossible…"
El Capitano! Ti Vendicheró! I will avenge you!
