Hey Everyone,

I'm sorry it's been almost a year since I updated. My sister, WolvesandFae, recently read this story and scolded me for not updating sooner. I am doing so now. First because I have time at the moment; and second because I finally finished the entire Ezio series of Assassin's Creed. I am proud to say that because it took almost a bloody year for me to finish but now I'm done I will continue from where I left off.

Thanks for your patience and please enjoy the next installment of Circles are Square.

Faithfully,

Ren

Desmond smiled fondly at the child and looked back at the pair of Assassin's.

"What happens now?" He couldn't stop the words.

"Now, you train and learn about your new life." Ezio stood and held out a hand to Desmond who took it hesitantly.

"Welcome back, Desmond." Ezio grinned at him. "I am Ezio Auditore, Mentore of the Italian Assassin's. Welcome to the Italian brotherhood."

Desmond leaned over the young boy that lay asleep on the bed. Ree slept soundly, curled around the stuffed toy one of the other children had given him. Desmond smiled, watching his son sleep. The room they were in was small, had one barred window and a door in the other corner. The bed sat against the far wall and seemed to melt into it. When the pair had been shown this dungeon as their room, Desmond had been worried about Ree and his reaction to the room. The little boy hadn't been impressed but was glad that he and his mommy were sharing a space.

It kept them safe at least. That was the only thing that kept Desmond from becoming depressed with his surroundings.

A knock on the door had Desmond looking up. Nobody knocked on his door. They all burst in like they owned the place, and in a way they did. As an omega, Desmond was instantly below the rest in status. It frustrated him to no end but Ezio treated him kindly and like Ree was any other little boy, regardless of his status.

The knock came again and Desmond shifted slightly before calling out quietly.

"Come in." His voice was calm and almost silent but the other person obviously heard as they opened the door. Maria Auditore stood in the doorway, looking around in clear distaste.

"Now I see what you were speaking of, Son. This needs to be changed, now." Her words were sharp and demanding. Desmond almost backed up in shock before realizing the orders were not aimed at him.

A chuckle from behind Maria drew Desmond's attention. Ezio stood just behind his mother and smiled when the omega's eyes were drawn to him. Desmond lowered his eyes away from the alpha's not wanting to be punished for such a move. Looking a dominant in the eye had already gotten him in trouble more than once, he just never seemed to learn from him mistake.

"None of that now, Tesoro. I like those lovely gold eyes of yours." The alpha's deep voice drew Desmond's eyes back to Ezio's chocolate brown ones. The alpha smiled and held his hand out to Desmond who hesitated. Ree was still sleeping and Desmond had no wish to wake the boy from the first restful slumber he'd had in a long while.

Maria smiled fondly at Desmond as his hand rested in Ree's wild hair. Ezio did as well and moved forward toward the pair. Desmond tensed when Ezio did so, unwilling to allow anyone near his sleeping son.

"It's alright Desmond, he simply wants to pick Ree up. We're taking you to better accommodations. We're sorry we weren't here sooner, we had other things to deal with first." Maria's gentle words slowly relaxed Desmond into allowing Ezio to pick up his son.

Ezio and Maria led Desmond from the room and down a long corridor. Desmond had to take two steps for every one of the mother and son, how Maria moved so well in a dress was a mystery to Desmond, but she did and left Desmond hurrying to catch up.

"We meant to move you the day you arrived but the upper level of the Assassin's weren't so sure about what to do with you." Ezio spoke as he led the way to what Desmond assumed was a new room. He wasn't disappointed. The room that he'd been led to was magnificent. Large and spacious. It had a huge sloped ceiling and so many drapes that Desmond wondered how they all fit on the walls. A bed stood in one corner, red and white blankets covering layers of pillows and more blankets.

Ezio gently crossed to room and laid Ree on the bed, pulling a blanket around him as he moved away. With the little boy cuddled into the sheets, Desmond turned to the Master Assassin and nodded his thanks.

"Can we speak elsewhere, Teroso? I do not wish to wake the bambino." Ezio's quiet request made Desmond smile and nod.

When they left the room Desmond smiled.

"Thank you for thinking of my son first, Mentore. Not many would be so courteous, especially to an omega." Desmond's words made both Maria and Ezio turn to him.

"You should be treated as a treasure, Beautiful, that you haven't been is a stain upon those who treated you poorly." Maria spoke softly to Desmond, her eyes arguing with herself of whether or not to hug Desmond.

"Even some of the Assassin's here, Teroso." Ezio added, "those who would not let you leave that room especially."

"So basically, I've been stuck in one room, trying to protect my son, for a week because a bunch of your Assassin's weren't sure whether or not they wanted to share with the newbie? That is the biggest bunch of horseshit I have ever heard. No offense to you Mentore, or your family, but your Assassin's are prejudiced assholes." Desmond's rage and frustration from the past week seeped into his words. He had no wish to deal with these assholes; he'd had enough of them back home. Added to the remnants of the suppressants in his system, his emotions went through the roof.

A beta came forward to force him to calm, but the moment a hand landed on his shoulder, the beta was having the stuffing beaten out of him by a very pissed off omega.

Ezio watched the events unfold before him with a chuckle and shared amusement with his mother. The pair watched as another beta and than an alpha stepped forward to calm the enraged omega only to nurse each other's injuries afterwards.

Finally, Desmond stood victorious, surrounded by Assassin's moaning in pain on the floor around him. Ezio smirked as he stepped forward.

"I think that's enough. Desmond has proven himself to be a formidable Assassin. I think that means we don't need to worry about him." The other Assassin's sighed as the clutched at wounds they hadn't had minutes before. Desmond was still seething when Ezio tried to calm him. When Ezio reached to place a hand on the omega's shoulder, Desmond jerked back, a growl making its way up his throat.

A cough from the other end of the hall brought everyone's attention to a small boy leaning against the wall, whipping his left eye with a small fist. Desmond's eyes snapped to the boy, watching him carefully. His shoulders relaxed and his posture became less tense the longer he watched the boy.

"Mommy," the boys voice was small and rough with sleep. "I had a bad dream."

Desmond was across to Ree's side before Ezio could try to stop him. The omega reached down and pulled the little boy into his arms before gently rocking him from side to side.

"It's ok, baby. You're all right now. It was just a dream. It can't hurt you." Desmond's gentle one startled everyone on the ground. Was this really the man who had just beaten the crap out of them?

Ezio smirked. He definitely made the right decision when it came to this mysterious omega Assassin. He would be a fine addition to the brotherhood.

-This Is A Line Break-

A month passed before Ezio saw Desmond again. The Master Assassin had been sent on mission after mission, he's barely had time to go see his friend Leonardo between them. Usually that would be fine, but now Ezio's mind was filled with the strange being that was Desmond.

The omega filled his thoughts and made him wonder why anyone would treat an omega so badly that they would leave the safety of their families and join a notorious guild like the Assassin's. Really, it mattered not, Ezio was simply glad they had met and now he could finally visit the young man.

He hadn't made it three steps into the bureau when a small form slammed into his waist and equally small arms wrapped around him.

"Where are you going, you little…?" A cruel voice called from behind the small form, the arms around Ezio's waist tightening as the person spoke. Ree looked up at Ezio through his midnight bangs, green eyes begging for help and Ezio couldn't help but give it.

"What is going on here?" His voice called above the usual sounds of the Assassin hide out. The young boys stopped in their games to look up at the man Ree had so quickly clung to.

"Mentore, we were just…" Ezio held up a hand to silence them.

"Where is Desmond? Why is he not with his son?" Ezio's voice cut through the eerie silence like a hidden blade through someone's kidneys.

"He's not here Mentore." One brave soul spoke up, his voice echoing in the ear splitting silence.

"What do you mean Desmond's not here! Where is he?" The novice who answered flinched and looked at a higher-ranking Assassin.

"He's on a mission to help Claudia in the brothel until further notice. From what I hear, he's attracted a lot of attention." The Journeyman sneered, refusing to meet Ezio's eyes.

Ezio froze before killing intent poured off his figure, scaring the crap out of the younger boys.

"Stay here, I'll decide your punishment when I return." Ezio stormed out, holding Ree to his side as he went. A soft tug on his robes brought his attention down to the little boy.

"Are we going to get Mommy?" The little voice was almost too soft from disuse.

"Yes, Ree. We're going to get your mommy."

Desmond sighed as Claudia helped him beat yet another drunk man off him. This mission couldn't end soon enough. Another sigh left him as Claudia forced the man out the door and patter Desmond on the shoulder.

"It'll be ok Desmond, you'll be able to go back soon." Desmond lifted his eyes to look at Claudia and smiled slightly.

"I just want to get back to my son. I don't like leaving him alone for long periods of time." Claudia's eyes widened when she heard that.

"I was told that you didn't have any children, it's why you were allowed to stay here so long. You need to go back…" Her words were cut off by the door to the brothel slamming against the wall.

"Claudia, were is Desmond?!" Ezio's voice echoed through the building, causing many customers to flinch.

"Over here Ezio." Claudia's voice called out to Ezio, hold Desmond's arm to her side.

Ezio took the stairs two at a time to reach the pair on the upper floor. Ree was still held in his arms, and resting contentedly against the older male until he saw Desmond. Then the boy started to struggle in the alphas arms, keen to reach his mother.

"Mommy!" Ree's voice called out, and Ezio gently put him down, allowing him to run to the other omega.

"Sweetie, are you ok? I'm sorry I was away so long." Desmond gathered the boy to him and clutched him to his chest. Ezio walked forward, coming to rest a few feet from Claudia. He wrapped an arm around Desmond and Ree and glared at anyone who came by.

"Worry not, I will deal with the people who gave you this mission. It's not what I wanted you to have to do."

Desmond nodded and subconsciously cuddled into Ezio's side.

Claudia smirked as she watched the pair. She had been trying to get Ezio with someone, now she had found who it should be.

Thanks again for being patient. Writers block can be a bitch but I did my best to update the 5 pages I usually do.
