Aaahhhhhh I've broken 100 reviews! Thanks sooooo much. I hope your enjoying your new year (even if we are 2 weeks into it). I enjoyed writing this chapter and there is a surprise entrance from a certain character in this chapter (*Hint Hint*)

Milton POV
I woke up really early today but I think it was due to the nerves of the upcoming challenge. I quickly discovered that Kim was awake as she likes to sing when she goes to collect firewood in the morning because she thinks no one is awake to hear her. I go down and meet her once she has stopped singing so she doesn't know I was listening.
"Morning Kim, ready for the challenge?" I ask her
"Morning and I hope so I just need to know more of what the challenge entails" She tells me while she gets the fire going. Just as the fire got going Eddie appeared
"Morning all did you sleep well?" He asked us in his cheerful mood
"It was alright but I woke up early. What about you?" I respond to him
"Quite well but that might be because I missed my bed the other night" He tells me then the horn goes and we hear Jerry shout something about it being an alarm clock and appearing a few minutes later looking like he had just been woken up.
"Did we all beat Kim up?" Jerry asked noticing the she wasn't there but then appeared a few minutes later with the bag of breakfast food in
"No Jerry you didn't beat me up as when I walked past your room you were snoring and mentioning something about wetting the bed" She says to him
"I didn't say that" He responds to her
"Yes you did it sounded like I didn't wet the bed mummy" Me and Eddie laugh at that
"Oh that yeah my cousin wets the bed when he stays with me and my mum in the summer" He tells us
"Whatever but I think I see a 17 year old who wets the bed"
"So Kim what does this morning note say?" I ask to change the topic
"Morning Campers. Today as you know you will be playing Knockout. This is a race were people who are too slow or cannot complete the race will be kicked off the island. More will be explained later when you meet us when the horn goes. Make the most of this time now as it could be the last time together as a team." Kim reads out
"Good it isn't fighting" I say
"It is in a way as we are fighting to stay on the island" Jerry says acting all smart for once
"I'm gone then as it's a race and I'm not very fast" Eddie tells us
"You will not go as you are better than them. You have good stamina as you kept walking for 2 days without complaining and I would guess that 1 or 2 of them will either drop out or walk as they want to go home and I reckon there would also be 1 or 2 injuries which will slow others down so you effective only have to beat 1 more person to stay in" Kim says
"Really" Eddie asks with hope in his voice
"Just don't think about what's position you're in and just get to the finish time and as long there are people behind you then you have a chance to stay in" Jerry says
"Jerry...Did you just say something smart?" Kim asks
"Yes I must of done" He says and gets up and jumps about. We sit about talking about tips we have learnt either on the island or at home to help us to win. I know I want to go home but I also want to stay to prove to myself that I can do sports and can survive outdoors and stay with my friends who are some of the best people I've ever met.
The horn goes and we all go in for one final group hug and walk to the starting point. When we turn up we see that some Team Wood are crying about not wanting to be separated and Team Fire are stood apart like they don't care if they lose anyone. When Team Earth eventually turns up there's a boy and a girl who are stood in front not bothered about the 2 girl's behind who are also crying about not wanting to be separated.
"Hello Teams and welcome to Knockout. Yes there will be 5 people leaving the island today but you don't want to leave the island today as you will have to take part in a further challenge to see if you go by a boat which you will need to paddle or by plane but also it will affect the rest of your team. Points will be award off this challenge but there are 5 keys on this course which will help in a future challenge to unlock your teammate. If you collect a key but end up being taken off the island then that key is no longer in play. The way this challenge works is that you will be in solo cages for the first part will be done in solo cages before going into team cages which will then open out where the teams will merge. The first part is building a puzzle by dragging pieces over ramps to build a puzzle. The next part is to use poles to climb up the tree and zipline down. The next stage is to cross over a lake using platforms which you will have to move. There are only 6 lines and if all the lines are taken then you will have to wait. The final stage is a run to the finish line. I'll give you a few minutes to talk or think tactics." The Island Master tells us
"Whoever is in front get the keys and if they miss it the next person gets it" Kim says
"Done. Good luck to everyone" Eddie says and we nod and go in for a final group hug. We stand in the hug in silence and we can listen to some of the team statics. I look over and see Team Fire arguing over something and Team Wood are trying to figure out what we are doing.
"Times up. Go to your starting position down the path next to your sign" The Island Master tells us.
We walk down where we see 5 cages set up with our names on but the spare cage didn't have a name on but looked like it had been completed. We all climb in and wish each other a final bit of good luck. As soon as we get in the cage locks behind us and but the door in front hasn't opened. The horn then sounds and the door opens. We run down this hill where we find the puzzle pieces but then the ramps to climb over are on this netting out over this waterfall. I begin to carry one of the pieces but they are big and heavy to carry but I spot Kim chucking them over the ramp which I decide to do. When I do go over the first ramp I can see other team's cages as well. You could see the different approaches to it. I quickly finish the puzzle to see the door open only find that Kim has beaten me out and Jerry comes out a split second after me. Jerry then beats me running down the path to where we see the trees and they looked massive. Some Island helper comes over and gets us to puts harnesses on and hooked up onto some safety wires. I at a different tree to only find that Kim is over half way up it. I begin climbing using the poles once I get given the all clear. The poles were on the ground so I found I had to keep going down once I had run out and this was hard and I got really tired. When Jerry got about half way Kim had long disappeared off the top of the tree she was climbing and Eddie appeared. I was about a third of the way up at this point.
After what felt like forever I saw the top of the tree and the zipline. It was massive and we crossed over the cages had been in. I could also see the platforms in the distance and there was already Jerry and 2 girls waiting there. I couldn't have been more thankful for the rest. When I was stood there I saw a girl floating in the air as she had fallen off the platforms but the way she had fallen looked like she had been pushed or knocked off. I then heard the 2 girls in front of me talking about how one of the boys from Fire had pushed this girl off the platforms on purpose using the platform he had to move.
Kim POV
I had just finished the platforms and all I had left was the running. I had a good lead on the person in 3rd place but the person in 3rd was a boy from Fire who was really quick at running. I knew I wouldn't be able to get 1st as the boy was too far ahead to catch. I started running but I knew I was slowing down and it didn't help that the final part was an uphill run to the finish. On the way I had grabbed 4 keys only missing the one on the platforms as I was on the wrong line to get it. I looked back to see that the boy was getting very close to catching me up and gave everything I had to get to the finish line. Thankfully I got there just ahead of the boy and one of the Island helpers told me I could go back to camp. I knew I was going to be the only one there for a while knowing the boys.
I got back and went to sit in the shade of the trees from the forest when I heard my name being called
"Kim"
"Kim behind you" I heard and I looked around and saw Jack in the trees
"Jack what you doing here?" I asked him
"I came to see the team last night but I got dragged off to some stupid challenge and today no one was in so I guessed you were off doing knockout so hung around till someone got back" He told me
"You've done knockout" He nods at that
"Did it in the dark last night with only a small torch to light that way. We had to do it within 35 minutes or we would be kicked off the island but I'm guessing that's not happening now is it" I shook my head
"We all miss you here in camp. Food isn't as good and we miss your amazing pep talks" I tell him
"I miss all the team as well. It's not the same with the guys in what we call the kidnapped camp" He says
"You're with the others" He nods
"I mostly ignore the others. James is a cocky jerk who thinks he's better than everyone when he almost burnt the camp down the other day, Felix is almost as bad as he keeps going on about being the best swimmer of his town I think" He says
"James...Felix..." I asked confused
"James is that super sporty looking one from Fire and Felix is the better looking boy from Wood not my words by the way" He says with his hands up in surrender when he sees my look
"What about the girl from Earth?" I ask
"Bex isn't normally around like me as we just avoid camp. She has been telling me though about the history and things like that when we are together" I can feel my heart breaking when he tells me this
"She seems good" I say quietly
"Oh I don't like her in that way. She's cool and all but she isn't my type and I think she likes a boy from her team. Were just friends who can't stand the other kids in our camp" I smile at that
"I just wanna give you a hug right now" Jacks says and that's when I realise I'm still by the river
"Just give me hug then" I say opening my arms
"I can't as I'm not allowed into a camp and you're not aloud out of camp. The guard told us we were not allowed into any camp to speak to our campmates but he didn't say anything about speaking to them on the edge of each boundary" I laugh as I can tell we both know it's wrong but I know Jack is a bit of a trouble maker from when he was at my school.
"So how are the guys?" He asks after a few minutes of silence
"There doing ... good. Coping well with the challenges at the minute from what I can tell. Still just standing Jerry" He chuckles slightly
"I still don't see what you have against Jerry. He's a cool guy"
"It's not that but rather he's so stupid at times that I physically can't get along with him and also he keeps saying ... how do I say it?... Suggestive things about women's homes in the kitchen" I tell him
"Well it's time he and I have a little chat then. I can't have him saying that to you can we?" I shake my head
"You know I miss these little chats we have. It's not the same with the others"
"So you have cheated on me. I'm offended now" He says in a over-dramatic way
"Well it was never official" I tell him winking at me
"Still"
"Still what?" Just as Jack was about to say something we both hear cracking twigs in the forest and we both stay silent then the girl from Earth appears
"Jack you better run. The Keeper is on to you" She says then smiles at me and runs off in the way she came
"The Keeper? Who's that?" I ask confused
"I've gotta go Kim. Pass my good luck onto the team. Bye" Just like that he runs off in the same way as Bex.
I walk back into camp picking up the firewood and set it in the dry part of camp and wash up the pots we didn't do this morning. Just as I was finishing I hear Jerry yelling
"The swag master and nerd is still in camp"
"Jerry you are not a swag master" Milton says as they walk into camp
"So you admit that you're a nerd" He says to Milton
"Well I prefer the ter..." I cut him off
"...Where's Eddie?" I ask
"When we left he was about the 12th marker but there was a massive gap as I was at the back of the group which Jerry won and the next group of 5 were still on the platforms but I don't think one of the girls in that group was going to last but he needed to be in the top 2 to stay in" Milton tells me
I leave the boys to sort themselves out when I sat down in resting on a tree in the shade as it was at least mid-afternoon. I began thinking about my chat with Jack. He hadn't answered any of my questions but had actually left me more confused than before. Over the last few nights when I was lay awake I had figured out my feelings towards him but even though I knew he was joking about the whole cheating on him, his eyes were telling a different story. It's like it affected him. I wasn't sure of Jack's feelings towards me as that evening when he kissed I can't decide if it was just in the moment or if it actually meant something to him and we never had the chance to talk about it. I think we were about to get to that topic but Bex had to stop it. I'm trying to figure out if she was watching us before and wanted to stop it or if she was genuinely telling the truth. By the way Jack reacted 'The Keeper' must be the bad guy here but it could be a code for something. I was brought out my thought by Eddie running into camp.
"What position did I need to be to remain on the island?" He asked quickly
"11th I think"
"That's good. I was 11th just" He says with relief flowing through his eyes
"Do you know what happened to the others?" I asked him
"No but I think they got trapped" He said
We spent the rest of the afternoon catching up with things we hadn't done over the last few days such as I hadn't done my washing for a few days and we needed to change the rope for the tree again. You would be surprised how quickly that thing rots. I also did some reading of the diary I had found a few days ago. We still went over to the other tree houses and tried to find more things to make sense of what we had found. We all had our own things and were beginning to make sense of everything but after the run in with Jack and how he was telling me about he was learning more, I knew then that some of the things we were thinking were going to be wrong.
It was early evening when it began to get cold so I got the fire going. It wasn't long after that Milton and Eddie joined me.
"Hi guys" I say to them as they sit down
"Is it just me or is it colder than usual at this time of night" Eddie says
"It's colder that's why I've got the fire going" I tell them
"It's going to be freezing tonight. I know that" Milton says
"Do you think that somewhere someone is controlling the weather as before it was really hot and it has suddenly just dropped to very cold" Eddie asked
"Quite possibly" I say
"IT'S GOING TO SNOW!" Jerry shouts running towards us
"What makes you say that? It's just cold" Milton says to him
"It's freezing out and when it's freezing then it snows" Jerry says to Milton like he is stupid
"Yes that is right but it isn't at 0°c out so it isn't freezing" Milton tells him
"It's not going to snow Jerry but there is something going on" I say to them
"What do you mean?" Milton asks and the others are also looking confused but then again when is Jerry not confused
"I spoke to Jack earlier and he was telling me about how Bex from Earth was telling him more about the island and then they both ran off when Bex mentioned someone called 'The Keeper' and you know all the diaries we have been finding about past teams well there starting to form the completed puzzle" I tell them
"I've noticed that the diaries are beginning to link together" Milton says
"You spoke to Jack. How is he? What's he up to?" Jerry asked
"Jack's fine. Struggling to cope with the other 2 boys but surviving. He's missing us though. He has also done Knockout. You know the other cage which was completed that was his go. They had to do it in the dark with only a torch to help them and had to complete it within a time limit or they would be knocked out" I say
"I'm soo glad it was Jack who was captured. I couldn't have done Knockout in the dark" Milton says
We then see the food bag arrive and Eddie goes and collects it.
"I've got the note here should I read it out?" We nod at him "Well Done Water for today. Everyone in your team has qualified into the next stage. For the people who hadn't realised today is the halfway point of your time on the island. All together you came 2nd overall and are currently in 2nd place with points. I wish you good luck in future challenges"
"Well Done everyone. We are all here to the end" Milton says
We spend the rest of dinner talking about what challenges might come up next considering that we are half way through our journey. I think there would be another water one and Milton thinks there would be another team challenge but we all think that the team challenge would be when Jack is back.
We all go to bed quite early as we have had a long day and it has gone quite cold so it makes sense to get warm in our beds before it gets too cold. I go to sleep dreaming of the rest of my island adventure.

TheJeweledNotes- 96% of the time it's raining (that's because I live in the north west and it's one of wettest places it the country) but occasionally in the summer we get the sun like this year when we had a MASSIVE heat wave but then once the heat wave went it was cloud and rain till now. Thankfully no snow yet. What's the weather like where you are?
