Hello and welcome to the next chapter of The Island and I hope you enjoy it.

Eddie POV
I woke up feeling refreshed. I had another good night's sleep. I think it might have been from the relief that I was staying. When I arrived I wanted to go straight away and now I want to stay and live it out to the end. I could hear people talking when I got up and went down to see Kim and Milton talking and Jerry was running about. I went down and joined them
"Morning guys" I say
"Morning Eddie" Kim says
Jerry eventually finishes running and sits and joins up
"What was that all about?" Milton asks
"Well I used to see Jack doing running, swimming and anything else he can doing at stupid hours in the morning and well I decided to do it so the ladies will like my body like they like him" Jerry tells us
"And then the ladies will love you" Kim says in a very sarcastic tone
"See it will work" Jerry says obviously not picking up on Kim's sarcastic tone
I spot Kim rolling her eyes at him. The horn then goes and Kim walks to get it. When she sits back down and lifts the note out of the bag and reads it
"Morning campers. Hope that if you are missing people it isn't too weird for you. Today's challenge is called 'Up in the Air' and only one person will be playing it and that will be Eddie. Just to be warned there is a lot more than you think riding on this challenge" Kim read out
That's when it dawned on me that I was actually doing the challenge and I think Milton could tell by the way he came over to me and gave me a refreshing pat on the shoulder.
"Up in the air doesn't sound very good" I said eventually
"I bet it's a type rope challenge" Jerry says and I begin to get really scared
"It won't be as bad as you think. You did good in the last tree challenge" Milton tells me and I feel a bit better
"We won't know what it actually is till we get there so you never know it could be something you are good at" Kim says and with that I put it out of my mind so then I don't overthink it.
I spend the rest of the morning away from the others doing some mediation. Milton taught me this the other night to help me calm my nerves about the Knockout challenge and I found it really helps but at this moment I could hear Jerry and Milton arguing about something pointless and it wasn't helping me. Just as it got quiet and I got really focused the horn sounded dragging me out of my thoughts and making the nerves come back. I joined the others and we all walked to the arena together. I could tell that Kim had said something to the others as they were now both being quiet but glaring at each other.
When we arrived at the arena we could see some wires and planks up in the trees. Along the routes I could see the sunlight shinning off some shiny objects. We walked over to our team stand and there was a harness and a helmet which said my name on it. As a team we were making small chat about what else could be relying on this challenge. Our ideas had included it was about the camp weather, food or hot water supply but there was a thought that it could have had something to do with Jack and bringing him back considering we collected keys for some unknown purpose.
"Good morning campers and welcome to Up in the Air. As you might have noticed this is a challenge based up in the air and is a course you will follow. I mentioned in your notes only one person is playing and this was selected by the Island it's self so is completely random. I also mentioned that there was a lot more riding on this note than just placing 1st to 4th, it is another challenge in which you could help bring your missing campers back. There are rings up on the course which you will drop to a team mate on the ground. The amount of rings you collect will help you at a later date. There are 5 rings up for grabs with 1 in each section and another ring for if you complete the challenge without falling off. Can the players who are playing step forward."
I stepped forward and saw who else was playing. There were mostly the people who I was fighting yesterday apart from the one from Earth. The Island helpers then came out and put a bag in front of us
"Can you each pull out a name from the bag" We all did as we were told. There was only 1 piece of paper inside my bag and the name got taken off me before I had a chance to look at it.
"There isn't a name in mine" the girl from Fire called
"That means there isn't any players in Wood left over" One of the Island helpers said
When I looked over to where Wood was there wasn't anyone left apart from the girl who was playing. I heard Jerry mutter behind me "She must be lonely"
"Ok can Don, Kim and Jonnana step forward. You are collecting the rings. An Island helper will help Wood" The Island master called before disappearing. I just assumed that they were giving us time to talk tactics.
"Eddie you shout when you are going to drop them and then give me 3 seconds to move into position then drop it. Ok?" I nod at what Kim told me to do
"Kim can you catch? I mean it's coming from quite high up and one thing wrong and you could get injured" Milton asked Kim
"Yeah I can. I've been playing Netball since I was 9" She said.
"She's good Milton" I say to make him shut up
"Can I have all the players with me?" One of the island helpers shouted to me and me and Kim walked over to him. We followed him down a path where we reached 4 trees each and a path underneath each one. Eddie got strapped in while we were told what to do.
"This is the course. You will work through each section in turn. It consists of wires, platforms, rope swings, scramble nets and much more. The rings are tied so you have to untie them before you can drop them. The catchers will have a bag to catch all the rings in and once you have finished they will be given in to help with you in the challenge. You may drop out by pulling the red wire and you will be pulled out but any rings collected by that point will be counted. You may start on the horn"
The horn sounds and I climb up the tree as fast as I can and I can see Kim off on the bridge under me. The first part was a wire with a wire above it. It was really wobbly and I thought I was going to fall off a least once. I then had to swing across the gap which I thankfully just did. There were then 2 wooden planks with a wire between them. There was also a ring which you had reach out and get as it was a way away. I got to where the ring was and I could just reach it. I pulled it off the wire and Kim looked like she was ready to catch it but I pointed to where the platform was. He nodded in agreement. I carried on the planks where I got to the platform and shouted down to Kim and then waited 3 seconds before dropping it. I looked down to see that Kim had thought it and form the angle I was at, it wasn't a good idea. I freaked myself out by doing that. I took a minute to calm myself down so I didn't pull out. When I moved on I saw a zipline which on for a long way and I got on it. When I got to the end, I had to climb up another bit of a tree. Here I saw a scramble net which I had to cross which I did very easily. I had to swing across another gap which was bigger than the first time. Again I only just made it. I carried on through the rest of the course and collected the ring and then saw another zipline which I had to pull myself up on. By this point I was really tired and once I got to the top I could see the entire island. I could spot our camps and the others ones. One looked like they had been living in tents but I could see that one had a hole in it.
As I turned to get onto the zipline which took me to another platform, spotted an area very close if not the middle of the island which looked like it was a prison. I went down the zipline when I suddenly saw there was a ring and I got it but when I pulled it off, I dropped it. When I got to the platform I saw there was a ring in front of me. That's when I realised how close to the ground it was. I chucked the ring to Kim who caught it very easily and then got down.
"What happened to the ring I dropped?" I asked her once I got down
"Which one?" She asked me once she pulled all the rings out of her bag
"You caught it" She nods.
It's then when I realised that I was last unless one of the teams had pulled out but Kim didn't seem to mind. I then noticed that we were the only team to have all 4 rings which made me feel better about being last.
We walked back to camp talking about the challenge. Milton and Jerry were watching it from a viewing platform. Each team had their own platform and could only view their own team. We had also begun to discuss what the rings have to do with releasing Jack. We couldn't think of anything suitable but we did know we had the best chance of getting him since we had all the rings.
When we got back to camp, it had started to rain so we went up in the tree-house.
"When I was waiting to come down the zipline I saw an area around the middle of the island which looked like a prison" I told the others as it had been on my mind since I spotted it
"What do you mean prison like setting?" Milton asked
"Well it looked like a giant cage and it looked gray and dark but also like it was trying to be hidden since there was a lot of forest surrounding it" I say
"I thought the game arena was the middle of the island" Kim says
"So did I" Jerry said
"I think they moved it. Being the observant person that I am, there a bits about the setting which have changed such as the loss of the sound of running water, the trees have slightly moved and we now enter from a different place" Milton told us
"I thought we had moved where we entered" Kim says
"I bet they moved it when we were doing that stupid camping challenge" Jerry said totally out of the blue
"You know that actually makes sense. We don't know where we were based and you had a map and boundaries to follow while the missing teammates were away from their camp to help us" Milton says
"I wonder what it all means" I say to the others
"I think it means the end is in sight" Kim tells us
"We have too many lose ends. I mean we don't know what the diaries mean other than they link together, we don't know how or why Jack was taken, we don't know who The Keeper is, we don't know what the prison is, we don't know what the rings are for to release Jack or even when we are getting Jack, we don't know how we are going to get off this island and we don't know what these stupid points we keep earning is for" Jerry rambles
"I think that many of these lose ends will be sorted out when Jack returns. Like I said he's friends with Bex from Earth who seems to know a lot about the island in general and he seems to know more about The Keeper but I never had time to ask him about it" Kim tells us
"When do you think Jack is going to return?" I asked them
"I'm going to say very soon. Maybe tomorrow" Milton suggested
"We will know soon" Jerry said.
We talked for the rest of the afternoon about random things and got we showered and changed. Thankfully it had stopped raining when we went to get ready and we could light a fire to get some food cooking. Kim got the fire going while we all got ready since she could light a fire with wet wood. We were sitting around the fire since it had gone really cold out waiting for the bad of food to arrive since I knew I was everyone was hungry. I had begun to think about what food I was missing from home such as chocolate and my family Sunday roast meal. When the bag did come Kim went to get it.
"Team Water, Well Done on getting all 4 rings in today's challenge but you did come 4th overall. Tomorrow will be slightly different to normal days and the rings you have earned will be to your advantage to tomorrow. The challenge will be played by all camp mates but only 2 people will be playing the main challenge Puzzle Map and that is Jerry and Milton. More will be revealed in the morning." Kim read out
"Puzzle Map sounds good. I'm brilliant at puzzles" Milton says as Kim gets dinner going
"There might be some other side which you might have to figure out" Jerry points out
"I think the main challenge is linked to something else. Maybe the challenge to find Jack since they did mention about the rings" Kim says and I nod my head in agreement.
"You could be right Kim since the challenge is Puzzle Map meaning that the puzzle could be the map for us to do the next stage and maybe rescue Jack" Milton tells us before it goes quiet for a minute while we all collect our thoughts
"I wonder what Jack will say about our camp life now. I mean it has been 5 days now" Jerry says
"I doubt he will say anything. Nothing has changed other than the fact we are more independent now" Milton says
"I don't he will say anything on camp life but more on our discoveries" Kim tells us
"He might just be happy to be back though" I say
We sit silence while I believe the others to be thinking. I begin to think about life after we return since I've currently lived without any technology for a week and a half and there are some people in my school who can't go a few hours without checking Facebook.
We then slowly go up into our rooms. First it's Kim who goes but we know she's normally the last to go to sleep. She's up trying to make sense of the diaries or just looking out the window trying to make sense of why she's here. I know she is probably thinking about her family. I heard her one night muttering to herself about how her mum is fine and her dad will be coming home soon. Jerry is the next one to leave saying something about how he is missing his summer sleep with these early mornings which me and Milton laughed about once he had gone as he is often the last one awake.
"Do you ever think of home? I mean I think of home a lot" Milton asked me
"Yeah I do. I miss home a lot and I keep thinking of it" I tell him
"That makes me feel better now. Do you think the others do as well?" Milton asked
"Probably maybe apart from Jack but I reckon he will miss his dad" I say
"I'm going to bed now. See you tomorrow" Milton tells me
"I'll be up in a minute. Goodnight" I say.
I stay down for a few minutes looking out on the beach and beautiful sight of the moonlight reflecting on the sea thinking about what is left for us to do here on the Island. I go up and get into bed drifting off into a dreamless sleep very quickly.
