Well I'm 3 days late but never mind. I should have another chapter up this weekend since I'm on half term. I would have had this up earlier but I had Media coursework to do and my class have basically wasted all of year 10 of Media so I have to get this done. I hope that your not living through the stormy weather that I'm living through but thankfully I'm not flooded out (My thoughts are with those who are). I hope you enjoy this chapter
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Kickin' It but I do own everything else
Kim POV
I woke up really late today. I think I needed that sleep though as I feel more refreshed than I have all summer. I go down to find that all the boys are there waiting for me.
"Sleeping beauty finally wakes up" Jerry says as I make my way over to them and go and punch Jerry hard in the arm
"What was that for?" He cried out in pain
"You called me sleeping beauty" I say to him
"We're just waiting for the horn. It's due any minute" Milton says and as he finishes it the horn sounds. As I'm the only one standing I go to get the bag.
"What does it say?" Eddie asks me
"It says: Morning Team Water. Today is make or break for the team as today you have a chance to win back your missing team mate. When the horn sounds you will make your way to the games area where Jerry and Milton will play the first stage of the challenge. The puzzle they will be building will decide on the positions for the day but also will provide a map to where the next stage will. The rings you have earned will be runs on a ladder placed in. More will be revealed later" I read out
"Jack could be returning today. That's something I was getting to the point of saying that it would never happen" Jerry says and I know I was beginning to think that as well.
"What about the ladder thing. If we had to move the runs then we would be at a disadvantage" Milton points out
"I doubt we will have to move them. I think we will be at an advantage since we will be higher up and maybe we have to chucks runs up to someone on a ladder" Eddie suggests
"I think Eddie might be right be right. I don't think we will have to move the runs but chucking them up to the person on the ladder. It makes sense of having 2 people doing the main challenge then 2 people doing the sub challenge" I say
"Do we think we can get Jack back?" Eddie asks
"Of course we can" Milton says
"Why were you thinking that we won't?" I ask out of curiosity
"Well have you seen where we've been coming for the last few days, Last, 3rd, last. We might not get him and we will be stuck here forever." Eddie says
"Just because we have been last doesn't' mean we won't get Jack back. We are determined today... well even more than before because we want this and there isn't anything which makes me say that we won't Jack back today" Milton says and me and Jerry nod in agreement.
"Let's do this" Eddie says after a minute
We spend time getting ready for the day as this is one of the biggest days yet. When the horn goes I begin to get butterflies as I know this could be the challenge which brings Jack back but also we haven't spoken about what happened the night he disappeared.
When we arrive at the games arena I see a field with an area at the bottom and big blocks and an area to put them in up in the air. I see Milton tense up and Eddie gives him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. When the final team arrives the Island Master appears.
"Welcome teams for what will be one of the most important days on the island. As you can see behind me, there is a frame up in the air and blocks on the ground. One of the people will be in the air placing the blocks in place and the other person will be putting them on the rope and pulling them up to give to the other person. As I mentioned in your note, there is another part of the challenge. The puzzle will provide a map to the next stage where you will compete to win back your missing team mate. More will be explained at that challenge but first will the selected players from each team come and follow me." The Island master said before Milton and Jerry went off along with the other players.
Me and Eddie went over to the viewers area to watch the game. When we arrived I saw that each team had their own area which had some paper and a whiteboard which we could communicate with the other part of our team doing the challenge. Me and Eddie had decided that I would draw the map and go once I knew where the area was, I would go and Eddie would stay till the end to see if anything would change. I think that the others would join us once they had gone and that's why we had the boards to write to one another.
The game started and we had Milton on the floor which was good since he was good at puzzles so he could figure it but he wasn't the strongest of people so he would struggle pulling the ropes but I don't think Jerry could have done the puzzle as he isn't the brightest bulb in the box. They start quite strong with them being the first team to get a correct puzzle piece in place. This then changed during the game when they fell behind because Milton couldn't pull the rope up very quickly and Jerry had dropped 2 pieces. I had begun very quickly to figure out where the area was by the pieces which were put in place. I think Milton might have an idea as well by the way he was getting the pieces up. They had almost finished when I knew where the next stage was so I set off. I had just set off just behind the girls from Fire who had completed the challenge. I had drawn a brief map of the area to follow and it was an easy route to follow considering what I had done on the camping challenge. I was following the girls down the path and then where I turned left, they turned right. I didn't know if that was because they were supposed to take that route or if it was a mistake by one of us. I then quickly reached the area where the next stage was. There was a cliff face with some poles placed in and more on the ground around. I then spotted a note on a pole on the edge of the field which said: 'Team Water, for the next stage of today's challenge you have to get 1 player up to the top of this cliff face using the poles provided only. There are many ways of doing this such as having one person pass the pole sup or by the person going up and down the face. You know you collected rings in the last few challenges and this will come into play here by having the amount of runs placed in meaning the more collected, then the higher up you start'.
I decided to start doing the challenge while waiting for the others and then when I start getting tired they can pass them up to me. I started the challenge and soon discovered that I could carry 3 poles at a time meaning I didn't have to go up and down as much. I also realised that I could put the poles in place without actually climbing up on them. I had put in about a third when Eddie appeared.
"Kim what do you want me to do?" He asked me
"See those poles, over there pass them to me" He nodded and then picked up a pile of them and brought them over. He also brought over the crate they were in a stood on it to make him a bit higher. He very quickly got into the habit of picking up the poles and passing them and giving me 3 at a time. When I started to become really tired I had filled about 2 thirds and that's when Milton and Jerry had arrived. I waited higher up while Eddie explained what they had to do.
"Kim, could we chuck the poles up to you?" Eddie eventually yells to me
"Good idea" I shout back to him
We get into a process of me only going to about the halfway point and the others chucking the poles to me. We eventually get to the top and I can safely safe that I was shattered by the end of it but it was fun. When I got to the top I saw 4 buttons and a sign pointing to the blue button saying Water. I press the blue button and nothing happens other than the red box turns to green. After a minute a blue slide appears in the stone to take me to the bottom which I go down.
"What was up there?" Eddie asks
"Just 4 buttons, 1 for each team. I pressed the one for our team but nothing happened apart from this red box on the monitor turns from red to green and then the slide appears." I tell them
"I was half expecting a cage with Jack to be in there and you would have to open it once you got to the top" Jerry says
"That was what I was thinking would be up there" I say agreeing with Jerry
"After what Jack said the other day that he also had to take part in knockout then I would guess that the button you pressed unlocked Jack to do his part of the challenge" Milton suggests
"I think Milton could be right" Eddie says
We spend the rest of the journey back to camp discussing what Jack could be facing. Eddie had suggested an obstacle course like knockout and the end was our camp, Milton had suggest a similar thing to what we had faced today- build a map using puzzle pieces and using the map go to camp and I had said something which combined both their ideas. Jerry had then suggested something about a dragon and a human eating snake. I kind of turned off during that point and then it turned into an argument between Milton and Jerry about how it was mythical and made up or how this island could create it. Eddie caught my eye at this point and it was saying HELP because he was in the middle of them and he was getting dragged into the argument and I knew he didn't want to be involved. Luckily for him we arrived at camp before he could dragged into the argument and one we got there Milton and Jerry went their own ways.
"It was times like that we need Jack back. He could sort that out" Eddie says
"Are you sure he wouldn't side with Jerry?" I ask him
"He might of at first but by the end when it was getting bad like just them he would of just stopped it" Eddie tells me and I do actually agree with him.
"It's now actually weird thinking that Jack will be here with us tomorrow. Thinking about it we have been living with him for a while so it's going to be weird for him to be back as a lot of what we talk about is him" I say
"I know but I guess either he will fit into our pattern or we will fit into his or even we met halfway" Eddie says
After that we all go about our own ways. I lay on the beach relaxing enjoying the peace and quiet I have been missing for the last few days. We might have been doing our own things but there was always some noise but right now it was quiet. I hear a few twigs crack behind me and I open my eyes to find Milton going off in the direction of the wooded area behind me. He had a notebook so I think he was going to look at some of the wildlife here. Sometimes it's nice to have a break from school life and learning but Milton always seems to want to learn.
It was late afternoon when I was next disrupted. I think I had fallen asleep. I had woken up to the sound of the horn going off frantically. The boys came on to the beach.
"What do you think that is?" Eddie asks
"Whatever it is, it isn't good from the sound of it" Jerry says
Then island helpers come out of the jungle and grab each one of us by the arms and take us down a path I've never seen before. When we arrive each person gets put into a cage by ourselves. The Island Master appears again.
"It has come to our attention that there has been some cheating going on so we are going to keep you all here in these cages while we check your camps and then we will interview each one of you. I'm very disappointed in you all" the Island master says
The first people are then taken over to be interviewed. Eddie looks at me with worry and I mouth 'We haven't done anything wrong' but I'm not sure myself. The thoughts of us finding those old diaries and artefacts come to my mind but if they didn't want us to find them then they wouldn't have given us that camp. I also think if we have anything in camp that could be classed as cheating but nothing comes to mind. The government who brought us here told us what we were/weren't allowed to have so they have my money, phone and keys. Slowly one by one the people disappear and I can get a better look of the area. I spot 2 sets of bunk beds and an area which a campfire would have been lit. The place does however look like it has been recently lived in. Could this be where Jack lived? I think to myself. I eventually get called and taken into a room where the Island Master is.
"Hello Kim, come in and take a seat" He says and I take a seat
"Your camp has come back clear of anything classed of cheating but I wanted to know if you knew anything about cheating in the challenge Knockout such as people knocking other people off the wires"
"I'm sorry I didn't spot any cheating during that challenge" I say truthfully as I didn't spot anything
"I didn't think you would spot anything since it involved the people further back" The Island Master tells me "Did you spot anything in the challenges from today or yesterday?"
"No I didn't" I say
"Thanks for your time" I get taken out of the room and taken back to camp.
"Kim you ok?" Jerry asks being the first one to spot me
"Yeah I'm fine. What was that about?" I ask
"Well during knockout I think one of the boys made his platform knock one of the girls wires and made her fall off so she ended up being taken out of the challenge" Eddie tells me
"I also think there was a boy from Fire who was cheating in today's challenge as well by looking at the other people's puzzle before doing his own" Milton also says
"At least our camp is clear" I say
We begin to get a fire going as it is beginning to get cooler.
"This is just a thought but do you think that was where the missing people were living?" Jerry asks
"What makes you say that?" Milton asks
"Well I saw some beds there so I thought that maybe that's where they had been living" Jerry says
"I was thinking the same thing. The beds looked like they had been used recently and there was a campfire circle which had glowing embers meaning that it had been used recently and I doubt that the Island helpers did that" I say
We began getting things out for dinner as this is where dinner is delivered but it never came. We began getting worried we wouldn't eat but then eventually the horn went. I went to get the bag and inside there was not 1 note but 2.
"Guys there are 2 notes in here today" I shout to them
"Read them both out" Eddie says
"The first one says: Well Done Team Water, You successfully released your campmate Jack on his challenge today as well as coming third in today's challenge. You campmate will arrive in camp as soon as they finish their challenge which could be any time. Tomorrows challenge is a team challenge which you all will be playing in."
"Great no rest" Jerry says. I quickly scan over the other note and realise it's really important.
"The other note says: Team water, your camp ground came back clear meaning there are no banned objects in there so you may stay in there and thank you for providing information about any cheating players. Because we need to analyse all evidence there will be no challenge tomorrow and your missing teammate will be delayed getting into camp meaning that they might arrive when you're all asleep." I read out
"We might not see Jack tonight then" Eddie says
"There is a possibility but when we wake up tomorrow then he will defiantly be here. Hopefully" I say and only muttering the last part.
We have a good dinner and stay around the campfire for as long as possible. We know we don't have a challenge tomorrow so we can sleep in so we try and stay up as late as we can just so we can see Jack but slowly one by one we all go to bed. I was the last one to go up since I slept in late this morning but it got to a point when I needed sleep so I went up hoping that Jack would be here tomorrow.
Jack POV
I was trying to find a path in the dark to take me to camp. My torch had failed a while back and the wood was wet over here so I couldn't light anything. The moon wasn't bright enough for me to spot any signs to show me if I'm on the right path. I look up and see that it's probably about 1 in the morning and I was getting tired. I then hear the sounds of waves crashing onto a beach and follow that noise. After a while of following the noise I reach the shore and look around. I recognised the place and then realise it's the far side of my camp. I run along the beach to reach the tree which I quickly climb up to get into my bed. It felt nice knowing I was home.
Hope you enjoyed it. I know I enjoyed writing it. Please reivew, follow and favourite.
