Chapter 6
Clara moaned into his mouth as her tongue danced with his. She has definitely had her fair share of kisses here and there but there was something about the way that he did it that just seemed so…. Experienced. Clara moved her mouth away from his to kiss his jaw… his cheek… his ear… his neck and farther down until she reached that small spot on his collar bone that made him instantly shiver.
"Oh, my love, you know just how I like it." Blake Livingston whispered into her hair.
Clara had woken up at three in the morning feeling extremely horny for reasons unknown to her. She had sneaked passed a sleeping Jenny (Clara always found it funny how prefects never walked around the castle after midnight. Most students never knew that.) and out of the Slytherin common room to make her way to the Ravenclaw tower. Once there she answered a ridiculously stupid question that was something along the lines of 'What came first; the chicken or the egg?' to which Clara replied, 'Who cares?' And with that she was heading straight towards the Ravenclaw male's dormitories, where a certain blonde haired boy was more than happy to be woken up the way Clara had done it.
Clara giggled into the crook of his neck. "Best be quiet… We wouldn't want your mates waking up and interrupting, now would we?"
Blake laughed softly. "No. We absolutely wouldn't want that."
Clara sucked a little more at Blake's sweet spot before making her way back up to his mouth and wrapping her tongue around his.
Blake's hands moved down to the small of her back as Clara lifted herself a bit and moved one of her legs to straddle the boy beneath her.
"Taking control this time?" Blake teased while coming up for air.
Clara just continued to kiss him, making sure that she left the biggest 'love mark' she could on his neck. Blake's breath got heavier and faster as he ran his hands from the center of her ass slowly up to her breasts, kneading them over her bra and pinching her nipples.
Clara moaned as so much wetness flowed from her center she though she was peeing…Wait… That didn't usually happen. Nor did her stomach ache afterwards. What the hell was going-
Oh.
Clara froze in horror and humiliation. Oh Merlin no! Not right now! Please for the love of all things magical, please tell me I did not just get my period.
Blake, who had felt her still, looked up at her concerned. "What? Are you okay? I didn't hurt you did I?"
Clara jumped off of him immediately and nodded. "Nope. I'm just peachy! I'm sorry but I have to go… we'll uh continue this later in life. Speaking of life we don't have too much of it, ya' know? And it such a nice night I that I think I'm going to go for a walk around he castle and breath in the night sky and the full moon because it's just so-"
"Clara, my love, what's made you so nervous all of a sudden?" Blake said as he sat up eyeing her with worry.
Clara shook her head and threw the covers off of her and stood up. Not the best idea. Another wave of fluid left her body and another cramp took its place. She has to grasp the side of the bed just so she wouldn't fall to her knees. When Clara composed herself again she looked down and thanked anything and everything she could think of that she was wearing black sweat pants. However, she could not figure out what became of her shirt. Not that she really had time to think about it anyway.
"You look like you're going to be sick," Blake whispered to her. "What's wrong? Should I take you to the Hospital wing?"
"The Hospital wing! Yes I should go there; I actually am feeling a bit ill- No, no! Don't trouble yourself! I can make it on my own, thank you."
Clara turned her back to the very confused boy, who was already searching for clothes to throw on to bring her to Madam Pomfrey, and ran out of the room.
"Wait!" Blake whisper yelled after her. "You don't have a shirt on…" but it was too late. Clara was already halfway down the stair by then. Blake sat up in his bed feeling a tad bit empty without the very girl he just held in his arms and very confused, but he shrugged off the feeling and fell back on his bed and closed his eyes. "Odd bird."
Clara, on the other hand, was running as fast as she could while ignoring the pain in her stomach and the irritation in her lower back. Using only the light of the full moon, seeing as how she forgot her wand back under her pillow, Clara made her way to the Hospital wing in hopes that Madam Pomfrey wouldn't be too upset with the rude awakening she was about to receive.
When she arrived, Clara threw open the doors and ran straight to Madam Pomfrey's office knocking quite loudly on the door.
"Miss Hathaway!" came the shrilled voice of the school's nurse as the door flew open. "Do you have any idea what time it is? What are you doing out of bed at this hour? And what in Merlin's name happened to your shirt?"
"Well you see I was- actually never mind what I was doing, I just need that amazing little blue potion of yours that you make so well… and if I could use your facilities, I would be amazingly grateful."
Madam Pomfrey softened up a bit and nodded. She disappeared into her office once more and a few seconds later came back with a small vial of shinny blue liquid that Clara downed immediately making her cramps instantly vanish. Clara smiled at the old woman and thanked her before heading to the small loo in the corner of the room, where inside she freshened up and discarded her ruined underwear before deluging herself in feminine products.
When she was done, the kind nurse gave her six more vials of the potion and told her to take one once a day.
"Hey, Poppy, do you mid if I sleep here? I don't really feel like walking the corridors without a shirt." The nurse sighed and nodded waving her to a vacant bed.
Clara crawled under the covers and closed her eyes and was instantly taken to her dream world.
~Running~
Sounds of opening doors and loud whispering woke Clara hours later. She groaned a bit before sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. She shivered and looked down to see herself in only a bra and sweatpants.
"Whaa…" she whispered to herself.
Sudden realization came over her and she felt the heat rush to her face. Oh yeah. She thought. I got my fucking period while on top of an almost naked Blake Livingston… Merlin he's never going to let me live this down!
A loud crash brought Clara out of her thoughts.
"Hold him still!" came the quiet voice of Madam Pomfrey.
Clara silently got out of her bed and walked to the drapes that surrounded her pulling them back as quietly as she could. She could see Pomfrey, Dumbledore, Slughorn, and McGonagall all surrounding a small cot and all with worried looks on their faces. What in the hell was happening?
"I've never seen him in so much pain…" McGonagall whispered. "Poppy-"
"Minerva I don't have enough potions to dull the pain completely. Horace and I will have to make more tonight."
"Tonight? But-" Slughorn stammered.
"No, she's right." Dumbledore's quiet voice sounded full of dread. "If we leave him like this, his life will become endangered. Poppy give him all that you have and Minerva and I will help you and Horace make more, seeing as how four sets of hands are faster than two."
"Alright." Pomfrey said before she disappeared into her office.
What's going on? Clara thought. Has a student been attacked?
"I never knew how much of a burden Lycanism could be on a young boy…" Slughorn whispered while staring down at whoever was lying before him?
If a student had been attacked then wouldn't- wait what? Lycan? As in werewolf? Surly there wasn't a werewolf running around Hogwarts… Clara had heard the rumors about creatures like that living in the Forbidden Forest, but she thought that's all they were. Rumors. Of course Clara never really though badly of werewolves, seeing as how it's the personality that matters in a person. But even if that were Clara's opinion, it was still dangerous having a werewolf running around Hog-
A small whimper filled the silent room.
"Yes, Mr. Lupin… it'll all be over soon." McGonagall's word of encouragement didn't do much however.
Clara froze. Lupin? As in Remus Lupin her friend? Remus was a werewolf? How-when-what? She couldn't believe it. Lovable Remus Lupin who could never hurt a fly a werewolf?
Clara looked around the room suspicious that there was someone watching her and all of this was part of some giant prank. However the more she thought about it the more she felt guilty for thinking this way about her friend. So what Remus was a werewolf? It didn't change who he really was… unless this was new and it was going to change his personality… No. The professors are all acting as if this has happened many times before; like everything is just peachy keen.
Except it's not. Her friend was in so much pain and Clara was just standing there like an idiot.
"Here we are," came the voice of Madam Pomfrey. "I got all the vials I had. Sit him up- gently! His cracked bones could break at any moment and I can't give him any other potion while he's in so much pain…. Yes that's it dear… drink up- shhhh. It'll all be alright as soon as you've had another…"
Clara listened closely at the soothing words from the nurse and the gagging noises from her friend. Was he really that hurt?
"We should hurry," came Dumbledore's voice next.
Clara stood still right where she was listening as four sets of feet hurried out of the hospital wing with the slamming of the door that followed. She let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding and ever so carefully, as though she was going to wake the dead if not done right, she pulled back the drapes surrounding the place where she had slept and stuck her head out from behind them. She saw that there was no one in sight, so she stepped out and slowly turned to where Remus had been placed. On top of a small bed lay her friend who looked so broken Clara's heart ached. She slowly walked towards him not taking her eyes off of him for a second. The closer she got the worse he started to look, and by the time she was standing right next to him, she saw that Remus looked as though he was going to die. She closed the drapes behind her and sat in the chair next to her friend.
She stared at all of his wounds. His cuts…his bruises... his scars. Without thinking, or even meaning to, Clara placed her hand gently on Remus' chest.
A sudden heat burned Clara's palm and she brought her hand back so fast it would had gotten whiplash if it could. However that wasn't important to her at the moment. What was important was the bright glowing hand mark that she had left on her friend's chest.
"What in the…" Clara whispered leaning in closely just as the handprint seemed to sink into her friend's skin.
Out of nowhere Remus' body started seizing. Clara flew backwards out of surprise and fear. What was happening? Remus' body was shaking and he was gasping like he couldn't breath. Was he dying? Had she done this with the weird handprint?
Getting her senses together, Clara decided she couldn't just stand there.
"Oi! Remus!" she said loudly grasping him by the shoulders and shaking him a bit. "What's happening? Please stop! You'll be fine if you just stop!"
Remus, however, was anything but fine at the moment. White foam had started to form at the edges of his mouth and Clara could see from where his eyes had slightly opened from the motion that they had also rolled into the back of his head. Tears blurred her vision so much, she could barley make out her friends form anymore.
And then it all stopped.
Just like that, Remus Lupin's body stopped moving and he went completely still. His eyes were shut completely and it was like the foam had never been there.
"Remus…?" Clara whispered in desperation shaking him again. "C'mon… Wake… wake up. This isn't funny…"
Yet shaking him was doing no good. So she decided to scream.
"Remus! Please wake up! You have to wake up! Please don't die Rem-"
A soft moaning came from beneath her followed by a quiet, "Clara…?"
Clara looked down at Remus who was slowly opening his eyes to look back up at her. Concern and confusion spread across his face when he saw the state she was in and he slowly sat up.
"Clara? What happened? What's the matter? Are you alright?"
With tears running down her face, the blue-eyed girl just started at her friend like she had seen the horrid murder of a loved one.
Without another moment's hesitation, Clara flung herself at the young werewolf and wrapped her arms around his neck holding him so tightly she was starting to cut off his air circulation.
"Hey- what are you- could you maybe- not so tight!" Remus was moved his hands to remove her arms but when he felt the violent shaking of her shoulders he stopped.
Clara buried her face into Remus' neck and sad there, in all her glory, sobbing like there was no tomorrow. Now Remus had had his share in watching girls cry, but never had he seen one cry with such… intensity.
"Whoa…" he whispered into her hair as he pulled her close and into his lap. "There, there… everything's going to be all right now. You're safe here… shhhh. Do you want me to go get someone?"
Clara shook her head and tried to calm herself- very unsuccessfully at that.
"I-I-I th-thought I h-h-h-hurt you."
Remus knitted his eyebrows and started stroking her hair and rubbing her back. "Why would you think that?"
Clara pulled away and looked him dead in the eye. "I don't k-know what happened! Y-you w-were so hurt and I…"
The two of them paused when they heard the Hospital wing's doors open again. They sat there, Clara frozen in fear of who had just entered and Remus knowing exactly who it was. They listened quietly had three sets of whispered all tangled together filled the room. The sound of soft footsteps caused both of them to look in the direction of the closed drapes.
The closed drapes… that were moving on their own as the opened.
"Hi there Clara," Came the happy voice of James Potter. "What are you do- have you been crying?"
Clara looked around to find her hazel-eyes friend but he was nowhere in site.
She turned back to Remus. "I'm having a very emotional and embarrassing night and now I'm hearing things. I just want you to know if I start talking to an imaginary creature named Todd you have permission to lock me away."
Remus chuckled and pointed behind her. Clara turned and saw Sirius, James, and half of Peter stepping out from… nowhere.
"Your eyes are all red and puffy." Sirius said walking up to her and taking her face in his hands.
Remus' nerves shot a bit but that was just the wolf inside of him getting jealous… wait. The wolf. He's a werewolf.
"Clara," Remus said in a sudden serious voice that caused all four people in the room to look at him. "What are you doing here and when exactly did you get here?"
Clara looked down. "I got here around three-ish, I think. I kind of slept here and just woke up a few minutes ago."
"Why'd you come here at three in the morning without a shirt?" Peter asked curiously.
Clara could feel her face turning red at the memory of herself on top of Blake and the blood rushing between her legs… literally.
"I didn't have time to find it." She muttered.
"Why?" James asked.
"More importantly; where'd you leave it?" Sirius asked giving her a knowing look and a smirk.
"Ravmenmaw mower…" Clara muttered.
Sirius's smirk durned into a full-fledged gin of mocking. "I'm sorry what was that?"
"Ugh!" Clara groaned. "I left my fucking shirt in fucking Ravenclaw tower somewhere around Blake Livingston's fucking bed because we were-"
"Fucking?" Sirius wiggled his eyebrows.
"No!" Clara huffed. "We were snogging. I woke up, wanted a snog and went to him. He only took off my shirt to get better access to my neck- I'm not exactly sure where he threw it though, hints the whole 'didn't have time to look for it' thing."
"Why didn't you have time to look?" Remus asked.
"Why all the third degree? Sheesh. Something happened, something I refuse to tell you, and I got out of there as fast as I could. Why are the three of you here anyway?"
All four boys shifted uncomfortably.
"We, uh, heard Remus got sick and came to see him," Peter said without looking Clara in the eyes.
Clara raised her eyebrow. "At the crack of dawn?"
"We never leave a friend in need or pain," Sirius smiled then looked Remus over and frowned. "Yet our friend seems oddly fine…"
Clara turned to Remus, was now inspecting his body with a confused frown, and let her eyes roam his body. She was very surprised to see that all the cuts and bruises were gone and that Remus looked like a brand new doll that hadn't even left the toy store yet. Even some of his scars from earlier were gone.
"But," Clara said slowly, "but you were so hurt… Madam Pomfrey, Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Slughorn all went to make more pain-killing potion because you needed everything that was here. I-I saw you! You looked like you were about an inch away from death and-"
"You saw me?" Remus asked his eyes boring into hers. "What else did you hear of their conversation?"
Clara hesitated. Should she tell Remus that she knew of him being a werewolf? Would he even want her to know? She didn't want to lie to him, but she also didn't want to ruin their friendship.
Clara shrugged and avoided Remus' eyes. "They didn't really talk all that much. When Pomfrey went to get the potion, Slughorn said some words, McGonagall said some word, then when Pomfrey came back she gave you the potion and they left to get more. That's about it really."
Clara (still being in Remus' lap) could feel her friend physically relax. I guess he doesn't want me to know after all. She thought.
"Remus you don't a scratch on you," James said in awe moving closer to inspect his friend. "I don't understand."
"Yeah… me either." Remus said. "Clara what happened after the teachers left?"
Clara hesitated with all the boys staring at her. She shifted uncomfortably before answering.
"I kind of walked over here and thought you were dying and then you actually started dying."
"What do you mean?"
"Well your body started like seizing and you were like foaming at the mouth… I didn't know what to do so I started crying. Hints the puffy eyes." She said the last part mostly to the other three boys, who nodded understanding.
A sudden realization cam upon Clara. What if she had done this? What if instead of hurting him like she had thought she actually healed Remus with her golden handprint. But that would be insane… wouldn't it? She could only do so many things with the power she has, and healing wasn't one of the things. But then again, who's to say that it wasn't something she could do? Clara had never really tested her limits before so maybe it was possible.
She needed to know more. More about herself and where she came from. More about her past and her family tree. More about everything.
She also has to tell Jenny.
"I have to go," Clara said, "Sirius can I wear you jacket?"
Sirius nodded in confusion removing his jacket tossing it at Clara. She put it on and without another word she walked past James and Peter and silently walked out the Hospital wing.
The four boys stared after her for minutes until Sirius broke the awkward silence with a simple phrase that said everything it needed to.
"Odd bird."
~Running~
By the time Clara got back to her dormitories, Jenny was already awake and walking out of the shower. When she saw Clara, however, she immediately paused. She took in the state of her friend from the oversized hoodie and sweat pants she was wearing, to the tear stained face and red puffy eyes. Something had happened.
"We're skipping class today." Clara said as a matter of fact.
Jenny raised her eyebrow. "We are?"
Clara nodded. "We have things to research today- well I have things to research and I'm hoping that you'll help me."
"What would that be?"
Clara took a deep breath and looked her friend in the eye. "We need to research Necromancers."
All right! There you have it folks! Clara is a very powerful witch with extraordinary powers. She's also and odd bird, but then again you already knew that didn't you? But what exactly is a Necromancer in the wonderful land of Harry Potter (that was written but they brilliant J.K Rowling and is absolutely not owned by me.), and what sort of powers come with it? You'll just have to find out in the next chapter.
Ha. I rewrote this entire chapter three different times so I hope you like this version. Tell me what you thought and what you want to happen next! And... yeah.
Thank you ever so much for reading!
