They Come on White Horses: Chapter 18

Requested by: NoVacancyMind and many wonderful others
Sequel to Knights.

Yay! Chapter is here! Classes start next week, so I still had some time to write and post this. :) Hope you enjoy!

Besides that, I have upped my crazy level and on top of the college thing and writing 3 multi-chapter stories at the same time, I have written a one-shot featuring Loki, of course. It is a bit dark, no bad ending, but the drama did take me a bit by surprise. So check it out: THE TONGUE'S GREATEST FEAR.

Please enjoy and review!

Disclaimer: Don't own. Never will. So sad.

Everyone is Fine...For Now

With the aid of both Captain America and Thor, they were able to get the door to Tony and Bruce's hospital room open. Well, this was after Thor convinced the rest of them to let the trio be for at least an hour or two. The doctors didn't fight him on that, because they didn't want to go anywhere near the Hulk. So, once the hour and a half was over, they couldn't wait any more and started pushing at the door.

They got it open in a matter of minutes, and sighed in relief at what they found. The pieces of ceiling on the ground weren't a big surprise, but at least there weren't any person shaped holes anywhere. They probably would have heard it if the Hulk had flung someone, but it was nice to be sure. Instead they found Loki and Tony playing a game of Go Fish on Bruce's stomach on the hospital bed. Neither of them bothered to look up when the other Avengers came into the room. Steve put his hands on his hips and raised a brow at the two awake in the bed.

"Well, is everyone okay?" Loki and Tony looked at each other before the inventor just shrugged. So, Loki vanished the cards and they finally looked at the heroes.

"Everything is fine. Dr. Ban-" Tony coughed at him, and Loki rolled his eyes. "Bruce woke for a few moments as the Hulk, made sure we were alright, then turned back into Bruce. He has yet to stir again, though I imagine it will be soon." Thor smiled at his brother, and the assassins just shrugged and found seats around the bed. Steve shook his head, but did nothing about the smile on his face.

"So, I'm assuming you don't want doctors coming in here then?" Tony smirked.

"You guess right, Capsicle. Though, did someone call Pepper?" Natasha nodded.

"She's pissed at you for waking up forty minutes after she left and says she'll be here once she finishes dealing with the idiots from Anvil." Tony laughed and shrugged. Then Loki lifted a finger and looked about.

"Does anyone have a phone I could use?" Natasha elbowed Clint into giving up his, and Loki just opened it and put it to his ear.

"Um, you need to hit some buttons-" Loki held up his hand to silence the inventor and started speaking.

"Yes, hello Director. Yes they are awake. Well, Tony is awake and Bruce should be joining us shortly. Yes." Loki rolled his eyes. "Yes. Thank you ever so much for your permission." And with that he hung up. Thor made a sound of understanding.

"Ah! Is that where you went last night, Brother?" Loki did his best not to appear surprised, but Thor still had that satisfied look on his face.

"I thought you had fallen asleep. And I was only gone for a few minutes." Thor smiled.

"I know. I trusted you were not running away. I remember how much you disliked the healers in Asgard." While Thor and Loki bantered back and forth, enjoying that small bit of normalcy, Clint stared at him with his eyebrows stuck in his hair line.

"Did you just call Fury? Without even calling him?" Tony smirked.

"Super powerful magic man, Legolas." Clint just raised his hands in surrender and shook his head.

"You know what? I don't care. I'm just going to sit here and make sure nothing funny happens…..or take a nap." But at that point neither man was listening to the archer. They felt Bruce starting to twitch beside them and were trying to make sure he woke a lot more calm than the last time. The team noticed when the doctor sighed and lifted a hand to his face. His brown (thank goodness) eyes slowly opened, and he blinked a few times to clear them. He pulled back a bit when he found Tony practically in his lap and Loki hovering close by. A quick glance around the room told him that this wasn't the first time he had woken up.

"So..I guess the other guy has already said hello." Tony barked out a laugh, and Loki just smiled. Bruce sat up fully and smiled sheepishly at the others in the room. Steve shrugged.

"It's fine. I guess Hulk wanted to talk to those two alone. He barricaded the door." Bruce raised a brow at Tony and Loki.

"What can I say? Even Mean Green can't resist my charms." Everyone in the room rolled their eyes at that. Bruce started to idly pick at the hospital sheets under him.

"So, when can we leave? I've…never been a fan of hospitals." Before anyone else could answer, Fury walked through the door.

"As far as I can tell," he said whilst observing the damages to the hospital room, "you three are cleared to leave." Loki raised a brow at the Director.

"You got here fast." Fury smirked at the sorcerer.

"You have your tricks, and I've got mine." Loki conceded with a short nod. Fury's eye then swept over all of them, not just the three in the bed, an odd sight, but one he wouldn't comment on.

"I want you back at the Tower and getting some rest. You all look like crap." It wasn't a lie. Bruce, Tony and Loki, while smiling, looked as if they had been hit by a semi, and the other Avengers all had bags under their eyes and looked as if they had been wearing the same clothes for three days straight…which, they had. Tony put a hand over his heart.

"Aw. Nicky, I didn't know you cared." Fury rolled his eye, but if Loki wasn't mistaken, there was the smallest hint of fondness or relief in the action.

"I care that my team is at its best. Besides, now that it's official, you need to make your new team member welcome." Everyone looked confused at first, before Thor saw his brother's face and smiled.

"Brother, I believe you forgot to mention that important piece of information." Loki smirked.

"You didn't ask." At that blatant reveal, Tony whooped and Bruce smiled. Natasha helped Clint pick his jaw off the floor, while Steve shook Loki's hand.

"Welcome to the team." Loki inclined his head, and braced himself as his brother approached. He was not disappointed as he was swiftly pulled from the bed and into a bone crushing hug. Tony laughed at the apparently funny face he was making, before suggesting Thor set his baby brother down. Fury rolled his eye at the antics once more, before informing them that they could leave at any time and to expect to be briefed in the next day or so. With one more glance at his team, he left. As soon as he was gone, Tony was off the bed in a flash, searching for clothes. Steve picked up a duffle bag Pepper had brought to the hospital for both Tony and Bruce and handed it to the inventor. Tony grunted in thanks, before rifling through it. Loki raised a brow as he stood and magicked his hospital gown into more fashionable Midgardian clothing.

"Anthony, manners." Tony stopped, looked over at Loki and raised both of his brows.

"Seriously?" Loki crossed his arms over his chest and nodded towards Rogers, who seemed just as baffled as the rest of them, though Clint was doing his best to hide his laughter.

Tony held his gaze for a few more moments before breathing out through his nose and looking at Steve.

"Thanks, Cap." Steve nodded and had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing himself. Soon, all three men were dressed and ready to leave the hospital, and when Barton joked about bringing them wheelchairs, Loki threatened to turn him into a wheelchair. He was quiet after that.

Pepper was waiting for them back at the Tower. She hurriedly met Tony for a hug and patted Bruce's shoulder.

"It's good to see you two as yourselves again. You were pretty cute as toddlers, but I think the adult you's are better." Bruce blushed a bit under the compliment, while Tony just shrugged.

"I'm cute at every age. It's a gift." Everyone got settled back in after that, relishing the small bit of normalcy they hadn't seen in a while. The past few days had seemed so hectic that as soon as they sat down and realized it was all over, they sank into whatever surface they were on.

Loki smirked upon seeing Tony and Bruce gravitate towards each other until they finally fell asleep leaning on each other's shoulders. He felt his own eyes drooping and then the cushion beside his on the couch dipped. Loki wasn't surprised to see Thor settling in next to him.

"Brother, perhaps you should go rest in your rooms. You have pushed yourself a great deal these lsat days and need sleep. And food; you did not eat at the Midgardians's hospital." Loki sighed and did something he never thought he would willingly do again. He closed his eyes and leaned over until his head rested on his brother's shoulder.

"You will do just fine. I can eat later." Thor didn't argue with him, and soon his little brother was asleep on his shoulder, and he was right behind him.

When Loki woke, he was surprised to find that he and his brother were alone in the common area, and his brother was awake.

"We all thought you needed the rest and Tony and Bruce got hungry." Loki made a noise of understanding and slowly pushed himself off of the coach and onto his feet. Now that he had his magic unleashed, he was no longer suffering intense migraines or an uncomfortable tingling under his skin. He was pretty sore form everything however, and took his movements carefully. Thor stayed at his elbow as they walked to the kitchen, and Loki ignored him in favor of yelling at him to back off.

Everyone was around the table and Tony and Bruce turned and smiled as they heard Loki coming over. Tony indicated the chair between them.

"Saved you a seat, and Bruce made sure there's enough food left for the both of you." Before Loki could even utter a word, Thor as moving towards the food.

"I will get it for you, Brother. Sit." Loki closed his mouth and sat, whilst rolling his eyes.

"Thank you, both of you. What are-" He didn't finish the sentence, because it was just such an odd sight. Tony and Bruce each had the pictures they had drawn, whilst being toddlers, in front of them. Bruce shrugged and played with a corner of his paper.

"We saw them on the fridge, and figured we'd take a closer look." At the possibility of an awkward silence or emotional discussion, Tony interrupted.

"And obviously, I was a little Van Gogh at age four. I mean look at this." Loki smiled at the pictures.

"Yes, well, that is why they were on the fridge. You insisted." Pepper, on Tony's other side smirked.

"I'm afraid it is the only gallery with an opening for 'Color on Paper'." Everyone laughed while Tony defended his drawing. Thor returned with plates of food for both himself and Loki and they all just enjoyed one another's company. Of course, this meant that something had to go horribly wrong.

They all stood from the table intending to watch a movie together, when a great burst of light flooded the entire area and blinded them. Thor and Loki, used to such a light, had their eyes open first. Before them, stood two Asgardian soldiers. They both bowed slightly at Thor and faced Loki.

"By order of the Allfather, Loki Odinson is to be brought before his throne for violating the bounds of his probation. He is to be tried and sentenced before the next fall of the sun."
