sorry this took so long, I promise I have longer chapters coming. Please review :) Would love to know what you all think. Obviously I do not own ATLA or any of the characters.
Chapter 3
The darkness surrounded me, it is silent, and I dead? I opened my eyes further only to be looking up at a wooden plank ceiling. Turning my head toward the only light source, I saw an unremarkable room. There was a small dresser with an unlit candle atop it, a desk next to the dresser and an open window, the curtains blew beautifully in the full moon light. Then I felt the breeze so cool so refreshing and relaxing. My eyelids started to get heavy, the edges of my vision started to blur and darken. I closed my eyes and sleep overcame me.
It was hot, my hair stuck to my face and my clothes were suffocating me. My eyes shot open, the wood plank ceiling staring back at me. Groaning I sat up, my muscles ached, cracked, and stretched like they hadn't in a long time. My head started to spin, reaching out to the wall for support, taking deep breaths until the dizziness subsided. Glancing up I noticed I was in the same room. The same small flimsy dresser against the opposite wall, a tiny desk with a window above. The outside was bright and sunny, trees danced in the distance but I couldn't feel the breeze. I suddenly realized I was burning up, I felt like I was suffocating in my own skin. Looking at what I was wearing I have on a dark green pair of pant that go down to calf level, they were a very heavy material. My top was a simple light green sleeveless, with snaps on the top left over the shoulder. My hair was drenched in sweat, and sticking to my face and neck. Pulling it back I refixed my ponytail, much better.
I swung my legs to the side, a sharp pain shot up my right hip upon trying to move my leg. I grabbed my leg and assisted it to the side, I know had myself sitting on the side of the bed in a sitting position. A light headed feeling washed over me, I hung my head, shut my eyes and waited for it to pass. In a few minutes it passed and I reopened my eyes and look toward the door near the head of the bed. It is a simple design with wood planks and a rope handle.
I took a deep breath and pushed up with my hands, my leg buckled and near refused to hold my weight. After a few minutes of clinging to the headboard of the bed while I tested my hip to putting weight on it. It seemed despite my efforts my hip wasn't going to stand very much of this. The door was maybe 4 steps from the bed, might as well have been a mile. I sat back down with a sigh, what now? I just sat there on the side of the bed for I don't know how long, the trees blew and the clouds moved to beautifully I was captivated by the view outside the window.
I heard a door close somewhere else in the house, I snapped out of my trance. Footsteps started walking around the room just on the other side of the door to my room. I heard things moving around, and then a chair slide against the floor and the footsteps stopped. I heard the chair scoot again only this time there was weight in it. Someone sat down, the next thing was beautiful and oddly calming, I heard a very sweet tune being hummed. I slowly released a breath I didn't realize I had been holding in, my racing heart started to slow. I heard a soft thump in a rhythmic thumping, sounded almost like something being chopped. Thinking of vegetables being chopped made my stomach growl, loudly.
Seeing my current condition not allowing me to investigate on my own, I had to trust that I was in safe hands.
"Hello?" I tentatively called out. Silence. Oh no, what have I done?
The chopping had stopped, the humming had stopped. I heard the chair scoot out again, and footsteps come near the door. The door lightly swung open.
