Hey! Here's the next update!
When dinnertime came around, the three coordinators decided to meet up with Brock and Ash at a nearby restaurant. Drew and Solidad were careful to work around the subject of May's upcoming battle with Harley, hoping to keep her calm. The plan seemed to have been working until Ash brings it up.
"So May, it looks like you're going to be battling Harley next. I heard you creamed him in your last contest so tomorrow's going to be an interesting fight. I can't wait!" Ash said excitedly
May stiffened but replied quietly with a "Yeah" before stuffing her mouth with more food.
Drew once again noticed May's reaction, so he quickly changed the subject.
After the couple finished their food, they decided to head back to their room early. They said good bye to the group and left.
"Hey listen, it's not really my place to tell you guys this but I think you should at least know this much. Something happened between May and Harley after their last contest and things between them have been really rocky since then. So I think it would be best if you try not to bring him up in front of May, at least until after the festival. Okay?" Solidad explained
"Um sure, I guess, but what happened between May and Harley?" Ash asked
"Like I said, it's not my place to tell. Whether she tells you guys what happened is all up to her. This battle between her and Harley tomorrow, is not just a fight to win top coordinator, but also a fight to beat her nightmares. So we all want her to stay strong and support her." Solidad replied
"Ok Solidad, we understand. Even though you guys are rivals, it's nice to see that you guys still look out for each other." Brock said
"Yeah, we might be rivals, but we are all friends outside the arena." Solidad explained with a smile
"Wow…IT MAKES ME WANT TO FALL FOR YOU!" Brock said suddenly jumping out of his chair, comically leaping towards Solidad to give her a big bear hug. Unfortunately, he missed because Solidad stood up and out of his way.
"Ok boys, I'd love to chat more, but I thinks its time for me to turn in. Got a big day tomorrow! Night guys." With that, Solidad left
"Ok Brock, looks like we should head back too." Ash said looking at the heartbroken Brock, who was still on the ground.
"Sol..i…dad…I'll win you over someday…." Brock said
"Come on. Let it go, Brock. She probably has her eye on someone else, let's go" Ash said walking away wondering what really went on between May and Harley. Whatever it was, he was going to support her all the way.
Finally, after a long sleepless night, the sun finally rose. The morning just felt like a blur for May. She really didn't remember getting dressed, what she ate, or getting to the arena. Drew probably helped her through the motions, she thought.
The battle rounds have begun, but May hardly paid any attention to the other contestants going. She was too busy running possible battle situations through her head. She was eventually brought out of her trance by Drew, who told her to relax and to treat it like any other battle.
"Thanks Drew, good luck out there!" it was his turn.
May watched the tv screen as Drew entered the arena and took his position. But that was all she remembered seeing before her mind went running again.
The next thing she knew, the sun was hitting her eyes are she walked out onto the arena. She looked up and saw him already positioned on the opposite side of the battle ground, wearing this typical smirk. May felt the pit of her stomach drop and her heart stop, it's time….
The cheer of the crowd helped ease the sting a bit. She took a deep breath, shook off her nerves and called out Glaceon.
This was it, she thought, the moment she's been working for. "There's no going back now," she said to herself quietly as Harley called out Banette.
The battle is here…
Soon May forgot about the fear she had of Harley and treated the battle like it was any other fight. Every little jab Harley attempted to throw at her was returned with more determination. She had come so far to face him, she was not going to let his mouth drive her down.
Drew noticed May's determination and couldn't help feeling proud for his girlfriend. "Come on May, hang in there!" he cheered silently
Drew continued to watch while glancing at the timer as the 5 minutes ticked away slowly. The battle seemed to go on forever, with the upper hand constantly switching from May to Harley and then back to May. The two were evenly matched.
"Glaceon!" May's Glaceon cried out in pain as it received a hard blow from Banette.
"Good job dear! Now finish her off" Harley commanded as Banette shot thunder towards Glaceon
"Glaceon, use Mirror Coat then Ice beam!" May ordered. Glaceon quickly covered its body with a cool icy glow, just in time to block the thunder, then threw an ice beam back at Banette. Giving it a direct hit.
"Banette!" Banette cried in pain. It was still standing, but just barely.
"Good, just one more move." May thought
"Time!" Vivian called
"This is it." May thought as she looked up at the screen. To everyone's surprise, the score was tied.
"Oh wow! Looks like we have a tie" Vivian announced. "So in the event of a tie, the battle will now be a battle to the end. No time limit, whoever eliminates all their opponents' points or if their opponent's Pokémon is unable to battle, will be declared the winner!"
"Oh no!" May thought, they didn't plan for this to happen. She didn't feel prepared to fight overtime.
"Whoa! They tied." Solidad said as she and Drew watched from the waiting room. "didn't see that one coming."
"Hang in there May!" Drew thought as he saw the worried look on May's face
"Ok so let's get going with this match! Now, the timer will be erased from the board-" Vivian started to explain before she was suddenly cut off by an announcement that shocked the entire stadium.
"I Forfeit this match!"
Ok, that's all for now! Sorry again for the lack of detail writing of the battle, I'm going from memory and some research I've done. So bear with me. The story is getting closer and closer to the end and I'm still working on how I want to end it. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter and I'll see you in the next update!
